As a Denver native you have to love the king.

Like:

- Open 24 hours.
- The dishes I've had are good, I haven't had a bad meal here.
- The spot to go after a long night drinking with a designated driver of course!!!!
- Very good portion size.

Don't like:
- Price is not great, but not bad.  It's what you expect at a diner I guess.
- The burrito is good, but it has too much potatoe.  Most of the dishes I've seen are large, but have too much of one thing.

I was drawn to this place since I first saw it.  The Breakfast King stands just a short ride from The Breakfast Palace, and I believe there is a Mattress King not far, either.  All this royalty in one small pocket of Denver!

So after a long morning of errands that included several passes to enter the Home Depot parking lot, we realized we were near this place.  "Do we have time for an audience with The King?" my companion asked?  How could I say no?

Inside, it was adorable.  As a Jersey girl, I have a special place in my heart for diners (NJ has the most diners per capita in the US).  This is no Jersey diner, though. It is a special place with its own look and style, which I appreciate. Love the orange pleather and uniformed servers.

Breakfast was solid, served up quickly despite the crowded dining room, and inexpensive.  Our coffee cups were constantly refilled, never passing the 3/4 full mark. (I must say that I only took a few sips of mine.  I really have to be in the mood to tolerate diner coffee.)

My basic two-egg breakfast was tasty but certainly not out-of-the-ordinary.  My companion got a breakfast special with elk sausage.  He got two HUGE links (think two large bratwurst-size sausages).  This place is certainly not concerned with cholesterol or blood pressure levels. But the sausage was rather lean and quite tasty.

This place is on my short list for good breakfast options.

He stands at the corner of Santa Fe and Mississippi. One hand mightily grasps his scepter, the other rests confidently on his hip. His crown rests cocked, while he strongly looks over his empire, confident that he stands above the rest. And he does.

I first visited the Breakfast King in the autumn of 2005. It has remained the Standard for breakfast joints to live up to, and thus far, the King still remains in control of his subjects. The threat of revolt is low, for few can combine the atmosphere, wait-staff friendliness, and more than merely edible food into one top-notch diner experience.

Very little has changed at the King since my first jaunt across the country and this is a good thing. Smoking's been subtracted and Wi-fi added; nothing more. It still feels like walking into a Tarantino film, though Jewels and Vincent are notoriously absent. The lush orange booths are large and welcoming while the matching table-tops beg for elbows connected to arms connected to hands holding mugs that're ready for re-fill after re-fill of coffee which the more than wonderful waitresses (complete with outlandish eye makeup) will drop into your cup long before it approaches empty. The register remains a relic from days gone by further adding to the King's delightful charm.

Beth Carlton was our waitress on this mild August morning. We watched her whir around the diner floor, from table to table, smiling and sitting with her customers to take their orders. What a doll.

I ordered the Denver Omelette (what else!?), adding jack cheddar and tomatoes to it at a scant sixty-cent upgrade. Your choice of bread (I took Rye) and potatoes (I suggest the Chulupa Hot Sauce to top them with) are included with all Omelettes. The Omelettes are massive and cooked with care. Despite my all too strong bias for this place, there are fewer places I'd rather purchase one.

Our group was large and we were in and out in under an hour, but for those of you who like to linger, there's a long silver bar for just that. Susie, Beth or any of the other sweethearts on staff'll keep ya company there while you read the Post or catch the morning news.

I love Breakfast King.  When I think about where I want to eat when I don't feel like cooking breakfast on the weekend, I instantly think of Breakfast King.
They have billion selections...I like the big breakfast combo, that comes with pancakes, eggs, ham, and OJ...yum.
BK is old, it's compact and there isn't much of a line either.  And yes, you will get "hunned"...the waitresses are really nice.
There are some crazy looking people in there sometimes but it's all in good Denver fun.
Oh and I saw a sign for free Wi-Fi as well!

I came here when I was on a cross country trip. I heard about it when my friends were searching up places on yelp. Listen to the suggestions as to what to get. I went conservative and got the country fried steak but do not get that. Although it is pretty dang good, if you've had it many times before---then its time to explore. Trust, the other stuff that people recommend here taste freaking great.

| really want to love the Breakfast King. I want to love the throwback plastic seated booths, and the polyester clad waitresses that call you "Hon".

But, the only thing I really love at the Breakfast King is the pork green chili. Otherwise, the food is middle of the road eggs and bacon kind of fare. Nothing special. Kind of on the expensive side for what it is.

The service is attentive.  The biscuits and gravy are extremely lame and as sanitary as the overly clean concourse at Coors Field(as seems to be the case with all of the B&G I have had in Denver).

Denver really needs a good dive diner where the focus is on homemade and fresh. One of those diners where everything is actually cooked from scratch around the clock.

BK is not a bad option. But, it does, regularly, fail to knock your socks off.

I had biscuits & gravy at midnight at the Breakfast King with a side of scrambled eggs (slid onto the pile) with an old friend in the icy dead of winter following a Devotchka show at the Mercury Cafe.

Couldn't have been more perfect.

I love this place.  I love everything about it.  And I don't even love it like most people love it.  I love it when the sun is actually up and I am completely sober.  I love it so much I want to work here and wear those cute little diner waitress dresses and wait on cute little patrons and yell at the cooks.  I do love the food too, the pancakes are delicious and the hashbrowns are the tastiest of their king and I love how the cups actually have saucers.  In fact I am going there right now and I can't wait!

"How about I take you out to breakfast for Mother's Day"? my hubby said. Wow, I wasn't expecting that. I'm of course thinking brunch at Wash Park Grill or Devil's Food or the long walk to Duffy Roll's for sweet rewards. "Actually" he said "I was thinking of trying The Breakfast King." O......K - I'm game - I've read the Yelp reviews and although not the most romantic place I can imagine, as long as I don't have to shower first, I'm definitely up for it.

Based on the reviews, I'm expecting TBK to be packed but am surprised to see that there are only a few people inside, quietly drinking the coffee and taking in the Sunday newspaper. We're told by a cheerful waitress (in one of those diner-like white dresses with apron) to sit anywhere we like so we take a set at a cozy orange booth in the corner - actually there is a lot of orange here. We are smack-dab under the speaker which is playing Musak - a tribute to the Beatles. Unfortunately it's more narration, not music, which I find annoying. I'm waiting for Casey Kassum's voice any minute.

But, I digress...I'm really hungry and although I know we should split a meal, I feeling deserving of my very own platter - it is Mother's day. I contemplate a Patty Melt (yes, I'm one of those "It's never too early for lunch type of people) but opt for the Huevos Rancheros instead. Completing the "Tex Mex" theme, hubby orders the breakfast burrito.

Surprisingly, our waitress (who was great by-the-way) does not need a front-loader to deliver our meal, however I assume that she must have killer biceps in order to carry these massive plates around all day.

Both the burrito and huevos are covered with very tasty green chile, full of ground pork and peppers - little to much thickener (I'm assuming corn starch) but still very good. My eggs over-easy are cooked perfectly and the tortilla is perfectly warmed. The mound of hash browns are very good although I prefer them crispy all the way through instead of just on top.

Hubby's burrito, the size of a small truck, is packed with potatoes, eggs, bacon etc., a tex-mex masterpiece. He struggles to finish half and is looking forward to leftovers the next day.

All-in-all TBK is a great, all-American breakfast diner. It's not cute, or trendy, it's just a decent restaurant with great service and good food. It's well worth a visit. Just make sure you have room in the frig for the leftovers.

Unlike most reviewers of The Breakfast King, I did not eat there hungover or drunk.
I took my lovely wife out for Mothers' Day breakfast.

+ WiFi. Free.
+ Gigantic portions. My breakfast burrito was the size of small planetoid.
+ Friendly service. Our waitress was very cheerful at 0730 when we arrived.
+ Green chile. Lots of ground pork and quite spicy with black pepper.
+ Decor. Who doesn't like orange? And. blinding amounts of it.

0 The food is OK. Not great and not bad. Just average.

- The "large" OJ is not and $2.60 is expensive for not-fresh OJ.

Would I return? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes.

Three words " Gary Lee Special" is this a good thing or a bad thing? I'm still unsure but it was ordered by one of my friends that decided The Breakfast King sounded like the perfect thing to do after we say our goodbyes at the bar.

The Gary Lee Special is not on the menu but you can order this concoction even if you are not the infamous Gary Lee (bartender at the Horseshoe & Skylark who is loved by all). The waitress knew right away to bring out a patty melt topped with fried eggs, a side of hash browns and smothered in country gravy and green Tabasco sauce (see photo).

Does this meal save you from a hangover? I guess you have to ask Gary Lee. I had some scrambled eggs, toast & those delectable hash browns. The other reviews are true- The hash browns, friendly down to earth waitresses, orange decor, fast service, and interesting patrons earned a 5 star rating.

Late night or just craving some fried breakfast I know where to go.

Viva la Breakfast King!

Thank you to the diner Gods for the Breakfast King.  Classic decor, waitresses that carry orders with attitude and ease, and 24/7 service make this place great for any time or situation.  Partying til 4 in the morning?  Sunday breakfast?  Quick carry-out for dinner?  Visit any time for the right food; the menu caters to every one (sobriety and attire notwithstanding).

I'm partial to the breakfast special, a sampler package of deliciousness that will either make your heart stop or make you fat if you eat too much.  And I eat the whole thing, every time.  If breakfast isn't your thing, the menu has just about everything any diner ever made, and there's always a special item (venison sausage breakfast burritos were memorable) if you're feeling adventurous.

This place is classic. Waitresses in crisp white uniforms with orange aprons to match the orange booths. They are quick, very efficient and Michelle (it was embroidered on her apron) was sweet and she wasn't even our waitress. They call you "Hon" and it is endearing here, maybe not in any other setting. The place is very clean.

I have never been in when it hasn't been jammed packed.

The ball-n-chain had a blueberry pancake sandwich with eggs and ham inside - it filled the entire plate and he couldn't finish it. There were real, fresh blueberries inside the pancake batter so they were warm and plump.

I had the Coney Island Hot Dog (shut up!) it was 10 in the morning. A dog grilled to perfection with char marks adding flavor. It was cut in half on a toasted bun then smothered with the "chili sauce" read: bean-less meat chili. On the side was a little plastic cup with chopped white onions and three pickle slices. Hot dog heaven.

They also have club soda, which makes me happy.

The entrance way is tight with people paying and waiting to be seated (there was a guy at the back who yelled at us "Two? Right this way" and directed us to our table.

It feels a little cramped to me. Oh, and it is family friendly place, so brace yourself if you go during the day. There was a kid shrieking her freaking head off next to us. The waitress brought a banana to shove in her pie hole *ahem* quiet the darling child.

This restaurant seems like a trip back in time, everything from the matching booths and aprons to the faux wood panelling.  Not necessarily the classiest place, but definitely comforting food.  Sometimes you don't really want to experiment with what you're eating, you just want to know that what you will be shortly eating will be good.  This is the type of diner you always hope to come across on a road trip.

I had the burrito supreme which was pretty good, if not mild, for a breakfast burrito.  Coffee is good and refilled often.  Also, free wi-fi!

The service was lacking, the coffee and juice were mediocre, the food was less than stellar (I'm certain they use movie theatre butter--aka "golden flavoring"--for the hash browns and toast), and the atmosphere is greasier than most Waffle Houses. To quote a Beastie Boy, "Breakfast King? Who the hell does this guy think he is?"

There are plenty of great diners in Denver. Don't bother with this one.

On the advice of fellow Yelpers, we decided to head over to Breakfast King for lunch.  After living in the Denver area for 9 years we can say we have found our favorite breakfasty food spot!

The funky orange pleather booths, nice waitresses and retro decor made this a fun spot to dine.  The kids enjoyed getting helium balloons from the waitress!

Hubby had the special - pepper jack cheese omelet - fluffy, cheese covered eggs enveloped an array of diced bell peppers and chile peppers.  Had enough spicy flavor (something unheard of in Highlands Ranch!) that he didn't need to add Cholula.  Served with the omelet were crispy, mashed potato like hash browns and choice of toast. Mmmm.

The squids ate french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and blueberry pancakes.   The fresh, whole blueberries were bursting with juicy deliciousness.  The whipped cream topped hot chocolate was rich and a big hit with them.

I had the hot roast beef open face sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy.  It reminded me of the beef sandwich I used to get at my favorite Hofbrau in CA.   Soooo delicious!

I had to go over the menu and force myself to pick just one thing to eat.  We joked that we may have to come back for dinner to sample the other yummy items we didn't choose this time.  We will be back to try the egg salad sandwich, spag and meatballs, BLT and other food items soon.

At first I was a little scared to try this place. But based on the number of cars in the lot and people waiting outside I decided to try it. They are open 24 hrs which is always a plus and the food is greasy and fantastic. I think they have the best link sausage I have ever had. I have mostly only had breakfast here but I am sure lunch and dinner is great too.

My favorites:
The special with choice of meat juice potatoes and pancakes or biscuits and gravy
Breakfast Burrito-awesome green chili and its HUGE
The weight watcher- lean ground beef patty with cottage cheese and pineapple and pears ( I don't have much to say about this one except its great and sometimes I need to watch my girlish figure)

Try it out sometime and you might be sharing a half booth with someone you've never met before (very interesting experience) and great people watching

Hail to the King!

Oh, BK, how many half-asleep mornings have I been awoken by your food?  Breakfast King's 2 eggs, hash browns, and toast are standard fuel for a trip to the mountains, hangover cure, anything, really. There is no bad time for BK.

The hash browns, oh my god, the hash browns.  Not shredded like Village Inn, the hash browns are fried chunks of potato that are just greasy enough to soak up the last of that half bottle of Jameson you killed last night.  The food here is pretty cheap, too, which is a plus for a broke-ass college student like me.  It's open 24 hours, so it's great for when you've got the munchies at 3.30 in the morning.  You likely won't get shanked, either, since it seems there's always a pair of Denver cops eating up.

BK is the king, way better than Tom's or Denver Diner.  Enough said.

"No more Breakfast King!" is what I said to B when I was on the phone with him this evening. It seems to have become our breakfast spot on the weekend and I love it. It's just that, my jeans do not.

What can I say that hasn't been said? The breakfasts are your basic yummy diner breakfasts and the service is quick. The potatoes are to die for. Literally. I'm surprised there isn't an ambulance waiting outside at all times.

The reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is the coffee. No I'm not looking for them to serve organic/fair trade coffee or anything. I'd just like a strong cup of coffee. As Ani DiFranco would say "it's water dressed in brown."

-  Enormous menu featuring every single kind of diner/ breakfast/ late night/ hangover remedy food you could ever possibly want. Prices are reasonable; not stupid cheap, but definitely reasonable.
-  The place was PACKED at noon but we were seated amazingly quickly. The guys bussing the tables are totally on the ball - we didn't feel pressurized to leave but our table had been cleared, cleaned, re-stocked and re-seated before we'd even finished paying.
-  Despite the fact my bacon and cheese omelette arrived sans cheese, it was still really really good. The "home fries" were a little too hash brown-y and insufficiently crispy for my liking, but they were tasty and piping hot all the way through. The side of bacon was generic but decent (five rashers for $3 is a good deal imo). The wheat toast was, well, wheat toast. All in all, I was totally satisfied with my breakkie. Ten bucks was definitely well spent.
-  His Supreme Burrito ($9ish) was phenomenal. About the size of my head, this bad boy was stuffed chock-full of potato, egg and chorizo, and smothered in the most delectably flavorful and spicy green chili I have tasted in Denver so far. Superb. I'd even go as far as to say it was "yummy."
- Our server wasn't overly friendly but she brought the food the moment it was ready, and kept our water glasses and coffee mugs perma-filled. That's all I really ask of a server.
- I give TBK 4.5 stars. I'm sure we'll be back next Sunday...

Bright orange booths. Waitresses with large hair/call you hun. Spaghetti. Yes, spaghetti. Breakfast all the time. Waitresses who know the regulars' names. Regulars. Regulars who are early birds.

This place has everything you need for an authentic diner experience.

The corned beef hash seems like it's from the can, but fried up nice and crispy. Really good hash browns. This is comfort food. I love it.

I will say that this place is better that Tom's and Denver Diner also. not that those are bad, but BK is so good. And the best thing about them to me is....... they are fast!!!

I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, french toast and bacon, with apple juice. I dont think I waited more than 5 minutes. And they were crowded!! I dont remember where i was coming from last time I went (I surely didnt work up a hunger across the street at the porn shop - wink, wink) but what I do know is that they hit the spot, and quickly.
The food was awesome too. I have been there about 5 times, and I am always happy. Great pricing too. You truly get value.

The only place in town that I think compares in value, taste, and speed is probably Sam's #3 Downtown. But hey, that just my opinion.

The hot boyfriend and I have been here a few times... he introduced me to its yummy breakfast goodness after a long night of.....talking.  We were mighty hungry.
There was a line out the door but we were seated within ten minutes by the uber friendly gal at the register.  Everyone working here is smiling and throwing out the "hons" like Flo.  It's awesome!  It looks the way a diner should look.  There's no one hoola-hooping at the door (I can't stand that forced plastic cheer), there's no kitschy crap on the walls.. just lots of orange booths, banging of plates in the window and the heavenly smell of bacon.  Bacon (according to my daughter) is the lifeblood of happiness and I couldn't agree more.  My first meal there I dove into a bacon omelet the size of my head.  With hash browns, which are not even remotely like those thin slivers of potato you can buy in bulk in the freezer section at Sam's... and toast.  I made it about 3/4 of the way through it and had to remove it from view for fear I'd explode  (it's wafer thin!).   I had to finish the hash browns, though... too delicious to let go!
The hot boyfriend mowed his way through chicken fried steak and eggs and if he coulda gotten away with licking the plate he would have.
The service is quick, the coffee is hot, the food is there before you have time to run to the bathroom.
I've tried their basic egg/meat/pancake meal: fabulous with the eggs perfectly over medium.  No gelatinous whites yet the yolk was toast dipping yummy.  The ginormous chicken fried steak and eggs: after a night of many beers this hit the spot.  Not overdone, the gravy is just right, the eggs AGAIN are perfection and the coffee kept comin.
Various omelets:  always fluffy, always loaded with meats and cheeses and whatever else I've decided must be stuffed in there.
I'm going to try the blueberry pancake sandwich next time.  I'm drooling just thinking about it.

The Breakfast King absolutely lives up to it's name. They have by far the biggest menu and possibly the most diverse (Eggs and Trout anyone?) of any of Denver's many diner joints. The place is run by super friendly managers and a waitstaff that is always happy to see you, even at 4am.

I love that though they serve a lot ot traditional 'greasy spoon' fare, their food is actually not that greasy. Other spots will serve their fried eggs swimming in a pool of grill grease, but the King's eggs just have a nice layer of buttery goodness.

I live up just up the hill and the pull from this place as I drive by, especially in the summer when the scent of Texas French toast and omlettes are wafting into my open window is irresistable.

Good ol' Breakfast King! I don't get down there much these days, as I live up north, but back in the band days, this was THE place to go after closing time. The parade of freaks an' geeks, strippers and other assorted people of the night was truly awe-inspiring.

I love the chicken-fried steak an' eggs, surefire hangover cure. The homefries are my favorite kind, crispy and delicious, and lots of 'em.

A classic slice of Americana. Gonna have to make the trip down soon.

If you want a delicious diner breakfast that can cure a hangover, or lull you back to sleep for a well-deserved afternoon nap, this is the place to go. The orange booths and the old-school waitress who call you "Hon" are first sign you are about to enjoy a delicious breakfast. The Special is my ultimate breakfast even though I am rarely able to gobble the whole thing done, that never stops me from trying. I've been by for lunch as well and enjoyed the BLT, so for me, in the realm of Denver diner dives, The King truly reigns.

I come to Breakfast King for the comic relief.  Me and my friends love to bet the over/under of how many times you will be called Sugar/Baby/Honey/Darlin' during a 45-minute meal.  Betting over 25 can get you your breakfast paid for by your uninitiated friends....that's my "Solid Gold" tip of the day if you like to bet.  Also, you can buy Powerball tickets with your breakfast...another plus for the gaming junkie.  Maybe they will add Keno someday.

Sometimes your server gives you too much information about her day, but she'll never let your coffee cup dry up....Coffee is "meh", tasting faintly like they throw a couple of Chips Ahoy into the filter before brewing.

But this place isn't for gastronomy, it's for taking the edge off a hangover.  Bring your sunglasses.  Lots of windows and the orange vinyl booths are brighter than a 4 pm drive into the mountains with a pitted windshield.

None of the food is great, but it does what it should....The later you go in the night, the higher the rating.  Don't fear the restaurant with a Purell hand sanitizer pump you pass on your way to your table, embrace it!!!!

It ain't gourmet, but you sure can call on Breakfast King at just about any time when you're looking for a solid meal in an anything-goes environment for a price that is easy on your wallet.

Ah the memories - BK was the diner my then-friend-soon-to-be-fiance turned to after a Halloween party where the alcohol flowed a little too freely and 3am arrived leaving a bunch of us longing for crispy bacon and pancakes.  We've also caught breakfast there with my father-in-law as he has stopped through on his way to another destination.

Breakfast King is truly a place for "anything goes" and food that looks like it's already been digested and yet is really good.

This is the place to be if you want great food, great atmosphere, and great people...and you're drunk.

Once upon a time, "The King" (as those in the know affectionately refer to it) was a friendly truck stop.  Times have changed since then but you wouldn't know it from the looks of this fine establishment.  Even though the King was given a facelift in recent years, the fact that the  booths were re-upholstered in the same brown/orange/yellow "vinyl" (honestly I have no idea what the material is) so as to keep it's original truckin' charm really speaks to the good taste of owner "Nick" (who also sports one of the fiercest 'staches you've ever seen). The truckers might be gone but the King is still serving up the best truck stop diner food Denver, maybe even CO, has to offer.

No trip to the King is complete without a taste of the Toro Pot, a delicious burrito filled with meat and potatoes and topped with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and green chile.  Whatever you do, DO NOT miss the green chile here.  It goes well on just about anything (I like it over the crispy, out-of-a-can style corned beef hash).

Be nice to the waitresses and they'll be nice to you and be sure to leave a nice tip cuz those ladies work hard.

This place is awsome!
Me and my Boyfriend always come here when we cant think of any place to go. The food is above average and not too expensive. suggestion: if you want eggs Benedict or waffles, make sure you get there before 2pm.
The waffles were so so, maybe because i asked a waitress if i could get them even though it was past 2pm and she let me (there is only one waitress that does that. don't remember her name) The eggs Benedict was friggin awsome. The hollandaise sauce filled 1/2 the plate so i put some of it on my hash browns. yum!!! The best time to get breakfast is during breakfast time cuz the cooks are better at making crispy bacon and everything else. I have probably tried half the menu. Some days if you get a pork chop and eggs it is cooked perfectly and some day not so great. Ive only had it twice so I'm going to give it another chance. There is one thing that they aren't so good at...the vegetable medley on the dinner plates. They are pretty consistent with over cooking them. If any of you go to the Breakfast King, you most likely have seen me there, usually late nights. There is SOME outdoor seating in the front but i wouldn't suggest it.

If for nothing else, I miss living in Denver because of how fucking rad the Breakfast King is. It was very close to our house in Wash Park, which was a blessing/curse. Oh how I miss you giant ham steak. And giant pancakes. Oh and mighty pork chops and burgers and omelettes.....I could go on and on....

This place is everything I ever wanted in a diner. It has the history, the decor, the food and the great staff.

I gained many pounds living in Denver for a year. This place takes a lot of blame for that.

We moved here a month ago. We've eaten here at least 7 times. This says a lot.
Honestly, this was not a place we would have checked out without all the Yelp cred. So thank you Yelp, for bringing me gravy-smothered, green chile goodness.
I recommend the Supreme Burrito, covered in tasty green chile (it's the best non-New Mexico style chile I've had up here so far) and filled with lots of goodies. It's also massive; I told the hubby that if I could eat the whole thing I'd be a little ashamed of myself. The chicken fried steak is good (available in 6 oz. or 11 oz. "Texas Style") and biscuits and gravy are an excellent "light" meal, ha ha ha. Their chorizo burrito is great too, lots of tasty chorizo without all the drippy mess either.
The staff is friendly and the waitresses even have those nifty diner uniforms! I love the bright orange booths and the old-school cash register too.
Prices are reasonable and you get a buttload of tasty food in a nice atmosphere. Thank you Yelp! :)

So im an outta towner, and I looked this place up on this site, and it was seriously worth it. We dont have all night diners in Dallas, so going to a few in Denver was a priority.

This place is top of my list and I wish I had some place in Dallas as good as this.

I figured for the price the food may not be that good, but I was completely wrong, the food was incredible and the prices were cheap.

There are some interesting characters that eat there too.

What to say, what to say--that hasn't already been said?  Well, as you may know, The Breakfast King is a breakfast joint--clearly.  But beyond this--The Breakfast King is so much more, really--The Breakfast King is a place  you come for a nighttime breakfast...Okay, so what I mean by this, is, it's not like you're gonna wake up bright and shinny and come to dinny here.  NO!  This is where you come late late style and is more of a contributing factor to your hangover than a cure : )  Feast on some greasy eggs and toast with your friends.  Say things you don't mean.  Become extremely engaged with people that you actually don't even care for.  Eat some bacon and feast on cheese.

A great nighttime escape for you drunkards on your way home with the munchies.

"The King" is definitely the best place to see the true 3am crowd of Denver.  We're talking every walk of life.. true salt of the earth people.  From truckers to graveyard shift workers to drunk yuppies from lodo to the high school kids with nowhere else to go, you'll fit right in no matter who you are.

The 70s orange upholstery and no nonsense, but sweet, fifty something year old waitresses will make you feel right at home.  Beyond the ambiance, the food is hearty and hits the spot after a night out on the town.  Try the Toro Pot or Santa Fe Sunrise if you're hungry and want some of the best green chile around.  The menu is enormous and they're usually pretty accommodating.

Finally, when you've finished your feast of food and crowd watching, make sure you tip the ladies well and thank the manager Nick on the way out.

This is the place to come after a long night of drinking.  You know, when you have that uneasy, acidic feeling in your belly that's just begging for a greasy gut bomb to soak up all the unpleasantness and make you sleep for the rest of the day.

For this, I love Breakfast King because it always delivers.  The menu is surprisingly diverse and full of both sweet and savory.  The atmosphere is like a diner, and the people-watching is FANTASTIC.  There are always some characters in here.  Much better choice than Denny's or IHOP when you're looking for a greasy spoon.
