I showed at the box gallery for there first show.
I have been showing work for 8 years at various gallery's and this is one of the best shows i have ever had.
A great space with a lot of style.
The curator Johnny is very charismatic and great fun to work with.
This space went over and above my expectations , selling work not only to local collectors but also selling and shipping to my clients in the UK.
The opening was a huge hit , lots of sales and a great presentation.
check out this awesome gallery in Costa mesa.
I highly recommend checking out this space.

I attended the Box Gallery opening tonight and was amazed how they transformed the salon into this little gallery. Pretty damn cool if you ask me. It didn't look like a salon at all.
The first showcase by Aaron Kraten is pretty cool, some of which is done on wood. It reminded me of some Japanese style art I've seen before. Prices ranged from $100 to the thousands and some of which had that ubiquitous red dot on it signaling that it had been purchased.
I hope to attend many more gallery shows here and I finally got to meet Johnny so that alone was worth going for.

Johnny S is a friend and also works as a bartender at my restaurant so I might appear to be biased, but anyone that knows me knows that I always tell it straight and if I had hated the Aaron Kraten show at the Box Gallery I would have come right out and said it.
But, I loved the show. So much that I was the first to buy a piece. And the show hadn't even officially opened yet. I couldn't make it to the opening because I had to work so I dropped by at around 2 in the afternoon.
Johnny, Christopher, Sarah and others were busily putting the finishing touches of the gallery/salon and getting set up for the art opening and Splitends Salon 1 year 1 month anniversary party. All of the artwork was hung and I spent about 15 minutes admiring it. I kept going back to a smaller piece--ink drawing on wood panel entitled "Torpedo". I must admit that all of the work was amazing, but I liked the simplicity of the ink on wood over the larger much busier multi media pieces. So, I told Johnny to find his little red dots because his show was going to open with a piece already sold. They took my money right there and since my piece was showing on one of the hair stations instead of hanging on the wall Johnny delivered it to me after the show.
I missed the actual opening party, but I heard from several people (including Christopher and Christina S. the following morning at brunch) that it was a blast and went off without a hitch.
I hear that The Box, J Flynn Gallery, and The Artery all plan to have openings on the same night throughout the year. If they are able to keep it going it will be great for the emerging SoBeCa (as much as I hate this made up moniker it seems to be sticking) neighborhood and the Costa Mesa art community.
Great show and I can't wait to see more.

And for the second review, it's me, Johnny. I've teamed up with Christopher from Splitends and have turned his space into a salon-cum-contemporary art gallery. The Box is the perfect venue to showcase contemporary work--intimate, minimal, high-energy. I love the space and I am excited to bring more art to the area!

The Box had its grand opening on January 12Th featuring the works of Aaron Kraten. The Box Gallery itself is located in a two story box like looking building. It is within the Splitends Salon. The grand opening party was fun. But I am not going to Yelp the party. True there was an abundance of alcohol, coke, diet coke and water and food catered by The Rooster and the music was great. Johnny Sampson is the curator/owner of the gallery. Stop by and check out the works of Aaron Kraten before the show ends. I am looking forward to the next show that Johnny whips up.

I went to the opening..... it was FABULOUS! Great little location! Mixed crowd... from the well-groomed fashionistas to the tree hugging artists. The food and booze was in abundance - Everyone had a great time... Parking is cramped so carpool! Will be at the next show for sure!
