Located in 575 Boylston, there are 2 elevators on the bottom floor, you take the one on the right to the second floor.
Let me start off with telling you guys what I go through and what Boston Body worker is faced with.
1. My bed that I sleep on every night cost a grand total of $200, so it's not very good.
2. I've recently taken up running. I've run (according to my ipod) 155 miles since the last time I had a massage.
3. I just finished 3 weeks of high intensity cardio and have moved back to working with weights.
So I booked my appointment using my LivingSocial deal with James. Oh, he was fantastic. He asked me what needed work, how much pressure I need and suggested a full body. Halfway or so through the massage he says that my legs need more work and if it would be okay to skip doing my arms. Totally okay. I mean my legs is what has been killing me.
It's unclear to me whether I was so calm and relaxed that I fell asleep. I may or may not have. Who knows. But I left very groggy and relaxed.
They don't accept tips. Which makes me sad. But he said I could tip him by writing him a Yelp review, and he didn't even know I was a Yelper. -

The Boston Bodyworker is the best place in the city to get a deep therapeutic massage. The staff is extremely professional - they take time to ask you about your needs, and address them with precision and care. I used to go for an repeated stress injury, and now go to find relief from yoga teacher training! Each therapist I've seen really knows their stuff - can pinpoint problematic muscles and work on them with just the right amount of pressure.
The facilities are very relaxing and low-key - spa meets physical therapist's office. The prices are excellent, especially if you have health insurance that allows you to get a discount. They also offer a frequent guest program which I'm considering - if you sign up for a monthly membership, you get one (or more massages) each month at a 35% (or more!) discount.
Their online scheduling site is easy to use and really helps someone who needs to make an appointment but can't get on the phone mid-day.
The owner is extremely friendly and puts clients' happiness and safety first. When they recently listed a deal for new clients at Living Social, they offered the same discount through email to existing clients. Great customer service!
(And if you sign up for their email newsletter, follow them on Facebook, check in on Foursquare or Facebook, the discounts just keep coming!!) -

I thought deep tissue/"sports massage" was only for the super-in-shape crowd. Me, I'm a doughy cube monkey, but as we all know, sitting at your desk for hours and hours and years on end does a number on your entire body. From my super-tight hamstrings, aching lower back, burning/searing pain in my neck, my whole body has been a mess for years. I figured I'd just have to live with it, as I honestly have never taken great care of my body.
As I've been going through some personal training to help strengthen my muscles, my trainer recommended coming to Boston Bodyworker to help increase my mobility and loosen up super-tight muscles that are holding me back. So as a birthday gift, my boyfriend got me an introductory session here.
I knew this would involve quite a bit of pain (no, my boyfriend doesn't hate me :P), and after my first session I was kind of sore for a day or so -- but after the initial soreness subsided, the benefits were long-lasting and well worth any pain at the time. No more burning pain in the neck, no more dull ache in my lower back. Locked up muscles were finally more pliant and responsive. I was way, way more mobile and flexible when exercising or stretching.
Needless to say, I've been back for follow-ups and will continue to go here. The staff are all very professional and work hard to make sure you feel cared for. Clearly both serious athletes (not me) and doughy cube monkey (most certainly me) can benefit from the therapies here.
This place has made me a believer in the benefits of massage therapy. I'm singing Boston Bodyworker's praises and I will continue to come back! -

I tweaked something in my leg at the gym recently - I couldn't walk up stairs or sit down without a shooting pain in my right leg in the knee and hip. Went to see Hallie at Boston Bodyworker when I realized this thing was not going away on it's own. She immediately surmised it was an IT band issue and spent the next hour fixing my legs. This is a clinical massage - it's not relaxing - it actually kind of hurts. Today - the issue seems to be gone and the the only leg issue I have now is the soreness i have from the kick ass massage I got. Highly recommended. Everyone there is really nice too.

I just went to Boston Bodyworker last night. I saw Jillian. I learned so much about my injury and the best stretches to help my injured leg! I also felt so much better after leaving. I would recommend this place and Jillian to anyone interested in fixing a sport injury.

After my appointment with James, I can move without pain for the first time in years. He's very knowledgeable and explained the science behind what was causing my pain when I asked. He suggested a plan for when I should come back but didn't push me to come twice a week like other places where I've gone for therapy. And even though he pressed pretty hard, I didn't feel any muscle pain the next day.

Oh. Mah. God.
I have been to at least 10 different massage places in the Boston area (no joke) and I think I have a new contender for first place.
I had made a last-minute appointment (for the following day) with Boston Bodyworker last week when I found out my forgotten groupon had expired! Yikes! But they let me use the credit and I just had to pay the difference. I was really looking forward to my massage as I not only have chronic pain due to lower back/disc problems, but am a full time grad student so the "hunching over a desk" muscles were getting super sore.
Except the following morning I woke up sick. as. a. dog. I'm talking super-flu, possible-strep, ear infection, fever, barely-able-to-breathe-let-alone-talk sick. And since it wasn't 24 hours in advance (and they don't have a policy for last minute cancellations) they wouldn't let me cancel without forfeiting the groupon credit. So I was initially very upset and things were off to a snaggy start. But eventually everything got resolved/smoothed over and the super nice manager talked me into coming in, saying she would let everyone know that I was sick and that I would leave feeling better.
I ended up being amazed by how wonderful the experience was. When I arrived, the manager was there to greet me with hot tea and inquiries as to how I was feeling.
And Jillian was one of the best massage therapists I have ever had. Not only did she take a really thorough history, but she also gave me a phenomenal massage, was able to use some chiropractic manipulation techniques to get my upper back to crack, drained my sinuses, and used a special eucalyptus oil to massage my shoulders, neck, and help drain my lymphatic system.
I left purring with a warm out-of-body experience, came home, and napped for 3 hours.
Suffice it to say I highly recommend the Boston Bodyworker. Thanks guys. :) -

I'm not a massage person. It's not that I don't like them, I just never thought they were necessary, and after perhaps six scattered throughout my lifetime, I failed to be convinced of the ongoing need for them.
Of those six, however, Rich at Boston Bodyworker gave one of the best. Deep without being painful, focused and responsive to tight areas and he utilized technique I hadn't experienced before. More form, fewer fragranced oils and lotions. More kinesthestic attention, less Enya - the trance tunes, although a bit loud, kept the peace without a patchouli chaser.
Afterwards, he gave tips on what he discovered, including a surprise curvature of my lower spine. The space is sleek and immaculate, and for being only a floor away from the hustle and bustle of Boylston, it's fairly quiet.
I'd love to go back for acupuncture and see what they can do outside of the Rubbin' Hood. Especially with my newly minted Check-In Offer of 25% off the service. Score! -

I have some chronic pain in my neck and what I like to call "whole body tightness" from a combo of working out and working in sales where I sit in my low-riding car for several hours a day.
All I can say is Terrell will cure what ails ya! He may not be for the faint of heart, but he is for me! However, I also give him free reign to beat me like nobdy;s business. When I have had sensitivity he has always backed off an treated me with love. :)
Seriously though, Terrell has fixed my neck numerous times and helped me continue in my active lifestyle! If you have any restrictions in your body I GUARANTEE Terrell will fix you up and have you back in business!! -

I just had my first massage with Jillian today, it was fantastic. She is knowledgeable, funny, kind, professional and really helped my body feel so much better. She did some intense work on the fascia in my back and the results are already happening. She was very helpful in explaining things and recommending tools to keep me limber and maintaining the work she did outside of the massage room. I've already booked my next appointment. The only drawback for me is that the appointments are pretty pricey but I do get a 20% discount from having insurance so that helps. I'd absolutely recommend Jillian to anyone.

Not your typical massage.... they combine with technique from chiropractic. But I go see my chiropractor once a while anyways..... it seems like I am getting the benefits of both by having a massage at Bodyworker!
Great massage + everyone works there appears to be super friendly.
Everything was just perfect. -
Review from Amy B.
I'm running a race on Sunday, but that pesky hamstring is tight again. So I planned a Friday night massage at my beloved Boston Bodyworker to get the kinks out. Sure, it meant working a little late until it was time to leave for my appointment and postponing some evening plans, but I knew I needed the massage.
I showed up at 6:45 for my 7 p.m. massage with Terrell and realized the elevators in the building had been turned off. I'd need to call to be let up. I exited the building to use the call box, and heard the door click ominously behind me. Crap. No matter, they'll buzz me in. I call Boston Bodyworker. It rings for about 2 minutes, then hang up. I call on my cell. No answer. I let the hold music play for about 10 minutes, assuming surely someone will pick up soon. Nada. I intermittently try the call box again, but each time it hangs up after about 2 minutes.
Their website has only one phone number (a local and toll free variation) and a feedback form. I tried all 3 but could not reach anyone. But you know who could have reached me? The Boston Bodyworker. They have my cell number and my email address, which I know because they sent me an appointment reminder there just 2 days ago.
Finally, I had to admit it.
Y'all, the Boston Bodyworker stood me up. And you know, as much as I loved the place, a girl has got to have some pride. Anyone have any suggestions for a good clinical massage place in Boston? Preferably one that keeps appointments?Listed in: Body Mechanics

Somerville, MA
Where to start.
I use to love this place. I have been going to them 1 - 2 times per month since 2008. That's a long relationship. I saw the same person, Jenny, for almost all of those appointments. Jenny recently left and that's when everything started to go downhill.
She referred me to Missy who was "closest to her." Well, Missy cut my time by at least 5 minutes every time I went, including one time where she talked on the phone for 10 minutes into my appointment and still ended early. After that, I vowed to never go back to Missy, but I was stuck with the pre-paid appointments I had due to the partnership plan. Next appointment I booked with Carolyn and went in armed with my cancellation notice.
Turns out, I liked Carolyn, so I decided to give them another shot. Big mistake. My second appointment with Carolyn happened to fall on the same day my sister-in-law gave birth. I called to say I would come in if I had to, but I would really like to go see my newly born nephew. They were not very nice about this. The response I got was "well, I guess that is a good enough excuse, but, next time we're going to charge you the full amount of an appointment if you cancel since you canceled one other time before." Gee, thanks. How about "Congrats?" Also, let's revisit that. I canceled one other time - since 2008! when I had the flu and was vomiting all over myself! Did you really want me to come in? I think two cancellations in a, going on 4 year relationship is not bad, especially considering you bill me automatically every month, plus get an additional massage a month out of me since I come in every 3 weeks - so, it's not like you're not getting my money. Furthermore, the cancellation email they sent me said that on the 3rd cancellation the penalty is only 50% of the fee - so I don't know where they get off telling me that I'm so special I would need to pay full price next time. But, whatever, I didn't plan on canceling anytime soon, since I had only done it twice in 3+ years.
So, final straw. I rescheduled my appointment from earlier this week for today. The only appointment Carolyn had was for 8am on a Saturday, but I took it anyway. I got down to Copley at 7:45am and found the door locked. Ok, I'm early, no biggie. However, the door continued to be locked until well passed the start of my 8:00am appointment. I gave up at 8:15 (and 5 phone calls later).
So, ya, it's time we break up.1 Previous Review: Show all »

My back is a hot mess: tight muscles, occasionally my neck freezes in place, "crunching" in my shoulders. The only people I trust to even touch me are the therapists at Boston Bodyworker. I try to go once a month (and I can feel it if I go any longer). I've tried many different therapists and they each have their own technique but what they do works. It usually hurts like hell when they are doing it but feels so much better the next day. My back is such a mess that if they told me to come in every day, I probably would, but they always have helpful tips at the end (and a glass of water) and just recommend I come in once a month, so I know they are not taking advantage. I've also had a friendly email in my inbox post massage to see how I'm doing (and not the generic kind- it's the "Stephanie I hope you can move you neck now" kind) I've recommended this place to everyone I know.

At the ripe old age of 23, I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. I had several herniated discs in my neck, and postural issues that resulted in tight shoulders and upper back pain.
Sometimes my pain is EXTREME, and the only thing that helps is physical therapy or massage. If I'm not actively in PT, it takes at least a week to get an appt. That's a long time to deal with pain, and I can't just take pain killers and muscle relaxers and "check out" during that time.
Instead, I rely on Boston Bodyworker. I'm happy that the therapists there use the same techniques as my physical therapist at Spaulding. I feel like I'm getting a medical treatment instead of a luxury. They offer discounts if you're insured, and they even have memberships and loyalty programs.
This place has SAVED me from so much pain, on several occasions. If you are looking for a spa, look elsewhere. This place is a MUST for serious athletes and people with chronic orthopedic complaints. So much love! And I'm soooo sad that I'll be leaving this place behind when I move to Seattle next week. -

I have been going here for several years. But much more frequently this year. I was sad when Jen, who I saw regularly, left. But have found the other therapists really good as well. They are very well-informed about muscularity, alignment, stretching exercises, etc... Deep tissue massages should be a must for all of us confined to desk jobs (or even manual labor jobs). This place is great and my back has been feeling a lot looser lately.

Pleasant surprises abounded here.
Just had an amazing session with BB therapist Sal. He did an incredible job. I've had deep tissue work before and probably two dozen lifetime massages, but this clinical massage beat the snot out of me but in a good way and exactly as advertised.
I went here on a Groupon which generally means my expectations are moderate. Many businesses treat you differently with a Groupon--but not Boston Bodyworker (front desk, manager or therapist).
I'm not as fit and active as I have been in past years and boy do I wish I'd been going to these guys then.
The no-tip policy (even with Groupons) made them seem even more professional.
All the negative reviews here seem to relate to (esp groupon) folks who didn't really look at the website and the services provided here or the occasional snafu. This isn't a spa, it's a clinical massage therapy center and given the chance, I'd be back in a jiffy.
Really no complaints--if you're considering BB, give it a go! -

I have chronic headaches from tight neck and shoulder muscles so I am generally not looking for a light spa massage. After going to several different places I got a groupon for Boston Bodyworker last year and decided to try them out. I haven't gone anywhere else since. Their massages are really more clinical sports massages which don't just make you feel nice but help to fix the root problem. They always take time to talk to you about what your main issues are and really try to work with you on what you want not just give you a standard massage. I've never had problems with their customer service, they have always been great about finding time to fit me in last minute when I get a migraine and desperately need some release. They are also very loyal to existing customers. For that I will be forever thankful!

Review from Sara D.

Injured during massage. Sheet kept "slipping." Rude front desk person. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
Details: I'd been going to here for years and always saw Anna Scire (who is great). After she left, I still had a few sessions to use up from the 10-pack of massages I'd most recently bought.
I asked Jackie, the front desk person, if I could get all/part of the cost of these back since my massage therapist had left. In between smacking her gum and rolling her eyes, she snapped, "No, sorry hon." (She sounded anything BUT sorry. How this person is the "marketing manager" and in charge of "patient relations" is really beyond me. She has one of the WORST/Rudest manner I've ever seen.)
OK. Fine. I scheduled a sessions with Sal.
He seemed very nice when I met him and I liked him as a person. But, unfortunately, my session with Sal was the single worst massage experience I've ever had. He did not use oil or lotion. This seemed weird for a massage, but it quickly became apparent this wasn't like any massage I'd ever had before. There was no deep tissue work, no "massaging" at all. Instead, he would pick up one leg, tug on it twice. Put it down. Pick up the other, pull on it, put it down. Bend my knee, circle my leg around. Trade knees. Repeat.
At one point, I asked what he was doing. He said it was a "joint mobilization technique" and I reminded him that I already have hyper-mobility in my joints (which I told him at the start), so this was unnecessary and unwanted. I asked where he learned this and he said "on a webinar."
This was concerning b/c I don't think you should learn massage online.
The rest of the massage was similarly bad. I actually had to stop him 5 separate times to tell him that he was in danger of injuring my spine. (Note: I have a high tolerance for pain. This was NOT just a deep release or something.)
Each time, he thanked me, then tried something else equally bad,
The other issue was that the sheet kept "slipping" in really inappropriate, unprofessional ways, leaving me naked and exposed for long periods. I would try to cover myself but it kept happening.
It was really, really uncomfortable and not OK.
To top it off, I wound up having to go to physical therapy for a month afterward because he actually pulled my hips and lower back out of alignment.
I didn't know you can get injured from a massage, but I learned that you CAN.
I've also learned that those "joint mobilization techniques" are actually only supposed to be used by orthopedic doctors.
Maybe he just needs more training (not from online) and to not overstep his boundaries as a massage therapist. He seems like a really nice person. But I will NEVER go back here. I hope this review can spare someone else this ordeal. -

Just a quick update: Carolyn is an excellent therapist and my recommendation, but she recently had a thumb injury and I had to see someone else. Drew recommended James, whom I saw with some trepidation, never having had a male therapist work on me before (I think it's a guy thing?). The massage was very good and he is also an excellent deep-tissue practitioner - he could be a little friendlier, but that's a minor quip. That said, I look forward to Carolyn's triumphant return to the table.

Yup... I came here on the Yelp deal. And after the October I had... I REALLY NEEDED someone to make me into mush. I had knots in my back, shoulder, and neck that I didn't know I had. Catherine was my masseuse/body worker. She's petite, but wow... those hands and fingers are STRONG!
After I signed into the place, Catherine introduced herself to me and brought me into the room. After asking me about what I wanted to focus on, she left the room so I could undress and get on the table. The music playing was soft and relaxing. The lighting was dim. The posters of muscular and lymphatic systems on the wall made me feel confident that she and the other bodyworkers really know their stuff.
I will definitely be back again, especially since I found out that they give a 20% discount on their rates when you show them your medical insurance. AND... they have a NO TIPPING rule!
My only complain is that I could hear a decent amount of noise outside of the room.Listed in: Body Workin'

I'm a huge advocate for massages, so I've def did my research in the Boston area. BB is 1 out of 2 of my favorite places to go in Boston because of the clinical, non-fru fru perspective of massage therapy. The first person, Natika(?), was one of the best therapists I've experienced and was sadden when I found out she left. The next person I experienced was Richard. I typically don't like going to males, but sorta didn't have a choice since I was in pain from idiotically throwing out my back by playing tug-a-war. Seriously, who throws out their back from playing a child's game? This fool does. Anyways, he was professional and subsided my qualms about male therapists. I've gone back to him, and concluded that he's knowledgeable about his field. The techniques that he has used not only eased my physical pain, but my mental distress. Placebo effect? Maybe, but I don't care because in the end I felt better. Richard carries himself as a conscious, genuine therapist. He's adorable and you just want to pick him and up, and put him in your pocket. As a bonus, he doesn't play that Enya-like music that seems to be therapists go to play list.
The downfall is the pricing, but there are many options to get around from paying full price. -

This place rocks. Regular massage meant I was able to train and run the Boston half-marathon injury free and made the whole process much more enjoyable. Although the prices do seem a little more than other places, as mentioned in other reviews, you get discount for having health insurance, and they do not take tips. You can also often get deals on Groupon and they have a loyalty program for regular customers too.
I have mainly dealt with Seth, but I did have a treatment with Scott, and both were excellent. I would say that it can be quite difficult at times to get an appointment and you may have to wait a wee while, but that is just testament to how popular these guys are.
Personal and professional service - highly recommended. -

After a few months chained to a desk - this place is just what my neck and shoulders need. Sarah is a miracle worker and 30 mins is only $40 (with insurance).
Everyone I have sent here has come back smiling and limber. Call them if anything feels tender or sore.
They also reccomended some things I can do at home so I don't have to come in as much. I think that is the definition of good customer service.Listed in: Charge it!, Get me out of here!

I see Stephanie at the Winter Street location every 3-4 weeks. The only migraine or TMJ trouble I've had since I started going was when I went 6 weeks between massages because of an unusually busy schedule. I've never gotten a better massage, and Stephanie is about the nicest person ever. They have such a variety of styles and services offered (one friend of mine goes to someone that practices reiki as well as massage) that everyone should be able to find their ideal massage therapist here.
The prices are right (and don't forget to show them your insurance card the first time you go for a discount - I pay $56 for a 45 minutes massage), and because they view themselves as medical professionals there's a no tipping policy. You can schedule appointments online or on the phone, and if you schedule online you'll get reminder emails the day before.
I work on a team of 4. I go here on a regular basis, 2 others go when needed, and the last just made her first appointment. I've also sent two friends here (one suffers migraines, the other just suffers from constant stress and injuries) and both are now regulars. -

I started going to Boston Bodyworker back in 2005, when I used to sneak in a lunch break massage. These guys (and gals) are awesome! They have allowed me to move on many occasions after working out the knots that seem to permanently seem to be in my back.
Do not expect a froofy/Enya/Newbury Street type experience. This is a clinical massage, or as I call it "work out the kinks" massage. The therapists here take care of the knots, the soreness, and the stiffness that you may be feeling, especially if you are any type of athlete/weekend warrior/wannabe Olympian. I've gone so many times after a big race (1/2 marathons), or even after a brutal move. I feel like a brand new person every time I leave.
I go to Chad, and have been for years. He's a great guy! Don't forget to check for health insurance discounts, and they just did a Yelp deal. They also offer online booking.
Pricey, but totally worth every single penny. Honestly they are the best, and I've given their gift certificates as presents on multiple occasions. -

Me and my husband went for a massage through groupon. We were expecting a nice pampering massage or at least something that is pain free but instead the guys used allot of deep tissue. We were told it will make you feel better later but unfortunately it was very painful. Do not go to this place expecting a nice massage. We were in allot of pain after the massage. We will never go back to this place.

The first time I went here, I got an Asian lady. Forgot her name, I think Kim or something, but she was excellent. We had a mini consultation before the massage, and afterwards she showed me some stretches to do at home. the massage was awesome, she used a lot of pressure, and used her elbow a lot. She knew what she was doing, and I left feeling great.
Second visit I was hoping to get the same person, but they gave me some guy instead. I was expecting the same quality, but he was pretty bad. He used very light pressure, either he's weak or he's afraid of hurting me. He even asked me if it's too much... And I said no, use more pressure. Nothing changed... I left the same as before.
I went there again and got a lady whose name I forgot. She wasn't bad, but I've had better.
The quality of massage really depends on who u get as a therapist. Try em out and pick the best one. -

These guys focus on triathletes, marathoners and the like
These guys laugh out loud when I walk in
Bu hidden behind my jello exterior are some tight muscles, and this place consistently rips it down and puts it together just right.
If you are thinking of 'spa', 'relaxing', or 'back rub', then run somewhere else quick.
If you are looking for talented professionals that will figure out what's wrong and put you on a course to fix it, come here.
Then call a friend to pick you up,because it might be difficult to walk out on yor own. -

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place (and Jim M. too!). I went in with chronic shoulder pain and through Jim's work and his suggested stretching I've been able to all but eliminate the problem that had plagued me for years! He's wonderful, honestly.
The office itself is always clean and professional. The online scheduling is WONDERFUL. It makes things so much easier for everyone. I can look at my calendar and pick what works for me, all without tying someone up on the phone. The insurance discount is also pretty wonderful. They offer other services that I'm anxious to try but the massage is just phenomenal. -

RIDICULOUS EXPERIENCE!
I am a groupon user and bought two for my husband and I. I called to make an appointment in mid-August and they told me "no spot for groupon user in August", so I had to wait for another month. That is fine.
In September, I had to reschedule the appointment but not so sure about the new time, the girl said "yeah, l can keep the spot and call me if you want to cancel it." That is it.
Then I called this morning to cancel today's appointment, a guy picked up and rescheduled it. 2 hours later, the girl called me saying" he is a new hire and he doesn't understand the policies, we have a 24 hour policy that we must forfeit your groupon.
COM EON, it is $50 and you wanna blame on me?
I think you would be responsible for the improper training!
If I was warned before I cancel the appointment, I would go for it!!
Now you told me you are gonna forfeit my groupon?
Ridiculous! -

There are so many great massage therapists...too bad none seem to work at Boston Bodyworker. I've been to 2 appointments 6 mo apart and saw different therapists. Each time I found the therapists have a tendancy to not listen and are inexperienced when it comes to movement disorders. When I say I have a uncommon condition maybe you should look it up on one of the PCs in the waiting area while I change...also, when I consider that I say I recieve botox therapy for my condition don't assume it's in my face for wrinkles, ouch! Inaffective service at $120/1 hr massage is then made worse by suggesting I come back for weekly massage. Too much...on many levels.

So let me start out by saying that I have always had a perpetual knot in my back shoulder. I've been to a couple of places before and they were relaxing, but the knot still persisted. Those places felt more like a soothing place rather than actual therapeutic corrections. I am not one for "ambiances". I need someone to knead my knots! That's exactly what I got from Sal.
I came in on a gift card that my friend gave me and she recommended try this place. (A very generous card. Thanks Rhine.) Sal was very professional and explained the process very clearly. He made sure that there was an emphasis on communicating my needs and wants. I felt that I was empowered to be proactive so that we BOTH can address my issues. For a whole hour and a half, Sal paid close attention to my shoulder area and the issues surrounding it. It was intense, but I felt as though it was just the exact intensity that I needed and could feel results from. During the whole process I spoke about exactly what was the areas that I needed. He even showed me areas that I didn't even know was affecting my problem area. He was very good. I'm kind of surprised that he could apply that kind of intensity for that long of a time. Great job.
The only thing that I felt could've been communicated was the fact that they don't accept tips. I would've been more than willing to give him a tip, but they just told me to apply it to my next visit. I will. I'll come back to try and get more work done. Also, the place isn't that easy to find, but I did and I'm glad I did. Thanks. -

I love this place. I would recommend that anyone in need of some back work head straight to Boston Bodyworker.
I have gone half a dozen times and have been impressed each time. Both locations are calm, relaxed and clean. Both people who I have gone to for services have been very friendly and helpful. Not only do they do a GREAT job of getting out the kinks and keeping me feeling good for weeks afterward, but they also show me stretches after each session to reinforce the idea of stretching and moving throughout the day (I don't run marathons, but I have horrible posture and sit at a desk for 10 hours a day).
The only downside is that if you have a particular therapist you want to schedule with, it can be difficult to get an immediate appointment; however, I have had good luck with therapist who have been willing to work around my schedule.
Whether you want to leave relaxed, energized or just pain free, I think this is a great place (I typically experience all three each visit). I wouldn't even consider going elsewhere. -

I went to Boston Bodyworker at the downtown location last week and saw Stephanie. The massage was fantastic. My only reason for giving it only 4 stars is that I don't have a lot of prior experience with massage and therefore don't have a whole lot to compare it to. I have gotten similar services, however, and if my future experience with Stephanie continues to be as good then I'll likely bump this up to five stars.
I had been having some lower-back pain/ache and Stephanie did a great job helping to relieve the problem. The pain has largely dissipated but I intend to go back for a follow-up just to stay on top of it. Stephanie was very nice and very professional. The downtown locaiton is clean and professional and as others have said, the online scheduling is great. I didn't end up using it this time, but I did look through the whole process and it seems pretty seamless.
Also as others have said, the price is great. Great insurance discounts and a no-tipping policy. I absolutely recommend going here for any massage needs. -

Absolutely amazing services here! Ask for Terrell, he is so smart, so good and absolutely wants to help work out all your kinks! I went in for a sports massage before the marathon and I am so glad I did! Highly recommended!

My wife and I have been going to massage therapists for many years and understand the benefits of this therapy. We both feel that we have found therapists at Boston Bodyworker that have exceeded our expectations.
I had Terrell and he was terrific and my WIfe' experience with Nataki was excellent. We will be going back once a week if time allows us to. -

Just FYI - they called back to refund me the difference for the massage, which I think is pretty classy.

On 22nd October 2010 I spent $55 on a groupon for a 60 minute massage at Boston Bodyworker. I tried to schedule an appointment today and was told that due to a high demand for groupon massages, they've limited the number of groupon massages per month and I would have to wait until June. I leave Boston for good in May. It is extremely unprofessional to change the terms of a transaction and I believe it's illegal under the fair trade and descriptions act. If I had known I'd have to schedule 2 months in advance for a massage then there is no way I would have bought the groupon. I expect a refund immediately and I suggest you talk to Boston Bodyworker about their poor conduct. This gives groupon a bad name.
