1 review for The Boiling Point Seafood and Oyster Bar
so, i never went to this restaurant in its previous incarnation-hunter brown's sports bar. however, looking around the restaurant as the boiling point now, you can see how it once functioned as a bar. the space is large and open. we went on a sunday during brunch time. they set brunch up in a entirely separate area. the fare was standard brunch fare: waffles, fruit, fried chicken, boiled shrimp, eggs, etc. the price was 19.99 all you can eat. i think if you get there earlier in the brunch time, things may look more appealing. when i saw them, they looked quite sad and picked over. so i chose to order off the menu. the boiling point offers many seafood selections and cajun specialites. i tried the shrimp and crawfish etouffee. it was dark, rich spicy roux. the serving was a generous size. the other diners with me thought the food was good, spicy and the serving portions large. i did notice that not all the options offered on menu were fried. you can get items boiled and grilled (a rare and healthy option you don't always get here in the south). i would not mind going back and trying more of their cajun specialties--shrimp and grits, crawfish, gumbo, poboys. the only reason they are getting 3 stars is because i cannot give 3 1/2. the service was slow and the food took a while to get to us. the server did apologize for slow service at the time when the food came out. but in those cases, bring some crackers or something before the food comes out--acknowledge the slow service beforehand--otherwise the customer feels totally ignored by the wait staff.
