Review from Katie O.
For a friend's birthday pub crawl, I got to experience the magic of Blarney Stone. While the drink I had was pretty basic (vodka cran), the ambiance was pretty cool and the live band playing covers of older songs was perfect. There isn't a ton of seating on the weekends, so get there a bit early.
Oh, and watch out for pot heads who want bet on whether you can name each song the band plays. -

This has been one of my least favorite bars in Seattle for a while. There's nothing that really stands out about it just a really basic bar. There's a person standing behind the bar who will pour drinks for you, but if you ask for advise you'll likely get a scowl and perhaps have the specials read out aloud to you. The service isn't great in the kitchen either. There's a person in the back who will cook food for you, but if you have a special request you're not going to be treating kindly--if you want a burger cut in half, you're going to have to do it with a dull butter knife.
I would understand this level of service if I came when there was a band there, but it was empty when I was there. The biggest group was a set of three fire fighters hitting on two perhaps middle aged ladies. Even with the scarce crowd our service was what I would expect if the place was packed to the rafters. -

I feel this place is pretty ghetto considered it's in Seattle Downtown area.
The seating was uncomfortable. Bathroom has combination lock on it and it's not clean.
If this was not my buddy, Marc M's birthday, I would not come here. -

Clean pub, friendly staff and customers. Behind the bar, Tom knows his business, and the kitchen made some good fish and chips. Recommend for downtown happy hour.

Denver, CO
So this place gets an extra star because I went here with a friend and despite the band showing up two hours late and then not playing, we MADE our own fun!
I travel between Denver and Seattle, and I need to unwind when I am in the Emerald City! This place does the trick. Its not very inviting, its poorly decorated, the pool table sucks. The clientele is vagabond and unpredictable. From grandiose douche-baggers to Deek's pizza flingers, ya never who who you'll meet, and most you'll wish you hadn't.
I had a bunch of people convinced I was a world class pro dart player.. They "recognized me from ESPN" . Um Ok, I'll play along, especially since y'all are buying me all my drinks.
Plus every time I go here some drunk slut hits on me, trips over me or gags a little near me. All pretty cool since I'm happily married and can't touch. Once a smoldering sexy "Persian" (the old term for Iranian, but Iranians don't want to be called that) squeezed my thigh in the dark like a pre-historic fisherman hand diving blindly for a trout. I'll take that as a compliment.
This place sucks like bad sex. Most nights I'll still take that over Jimmy Fallon. -

Lets just say, this is the only place I will come while in downtown late at night. Of course, the choices are limited at that time, but it's awesome all the time.
Good food, great drink, and a Wii.

Enter me at the bar. There are four people behind it, talking to each other, gathering items for tables, running cards, talking some more... There are now two of us unattended-to patrons at the bar waiting for service . We wait a few minutes. Oh, there's a third person in line now. We wait five more. A bartender makes eye contact with me and starts walking over, but gets distracted by something dirty on the counter and stops to start scrubbing at it. I finally received a profuse apology from another employee for being so oblivious to us and then she charges me $2.25 for a glass of selzer water. WTF? You're sorry, but not so much that you'll give me some water free of charge?!
This place is the sorta place you probably don't want to head into alone, but with a big groups (who've got your back) some good times can be had. Typical greasy bar food, subpar service. I'll go if I have to, but won't throw out the idea. -
Review from Daren D.
Good potato cakes and drink. Staff was great, as well, despite the crazy noise and crowdiness of the place during the band. A cool stop on Sir Marc M's UYBC. If you get a drink at the bar and sit down, you can ask to have your food on the same tab. Bathroom is code-only.

I have to add more to my review... because this place is so amazing!
The bartendress (note spell check wants to change this to battledress - sweet!) we had on one of our trips made the place just sparkle! She had a great attitude and really seemed to enjoy her job! A much needed break from the hillattudes, I just love it when people seem to like their job!
On another recent trip made it to HH. 2.99 food items. Here's the skinny, it sounds gross but seriously order the sausage roll.... oh gawd... it's so good, in fact order 2.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Not much that is "pub" about this place at all other than the Irish flag on the wall. Service was great, staff very friendly, and there was a good blues band playing Good prices. My husband and I left when we got tired and completely forgot to pay. Went back the next morning and the guy there was very appreciative and friendly. Would go back!

Good drinks. Gotta go to the bar to get them, but friendly bartenders and homey atmosphere. The reason I am delivering a three star, instead of a four star review here is because of the bathrooms! Despite the key code entry to the bathrooms hallway, I'm guessing to keep non-patrons out, it smelled like urine. It was awful! Awful! So... I would recommend a few drinks before entering here- it will make the whole place a lot more tolerable and fun!

We come here every St. Patrick's Day. I think we've paid for the month's electric bill with our bar tabs here.
We go for the atmosphere and the Jameson wings! Oh, and the car bombs too. Wait staff isn't always the best, it's hit and miss. Mostly good, but we've had bad.
Their fries should be ordered by the crate. The corned beef is scrumptious, and the reubens are up there. Wii game for all to enjoy, stage for live band, pool table and darts (only one pool table was broken when we were there).
Pirates visit every year for St. Patrick's day, it's worth the trip. The entertainment is priceless, and sometimes grimmacing. -

The Blarney Stone is a solid downtown pub. It's sold as an Irish bar, but outside the name really, there's not that much Irishy about it. It's an honest pub, which for its location is a good thing! It's less expensive and pretentious then some of the hotel and wine & cheese bars near there. It's filled with less douchy clientele like other near by Belltown locations. Also, not as scary as Nite Lite or Noc-Noc for your mild mannered Bellevue-living co-worker who wants to hit up a happy hour with you.
The space is big and good for groups. The food is standard pub fare. Good stuff but nothing out of the ordinary. There's a nice beer selection and decent drink pours. There's lots of TVs if you're looking to catch a game. If you're into trivia check out Monday nights. It's run by Geeks Who Drink, my favorite quiz masters! -

You know that one bar that everyone always forgets about, but has really decent drinks, isn't always super-loud or super-crowded, and where people that work at other bars go for a relaxing good time? That's this place.
Inside is all wood tabled and booths, pool tables, heavy-pour drinks, and a bunch of people that AREN'T posers that you want to kill.
I probably gave it one star more than I should have because I live a block away from it - but don't hold that against me. -

Stopped by for a late lunch one day, so we were pretty much the only people in the place. The waitress was really distracted hanging out with the bartender and some friends that came in, so our service was really slow and required going over to the bar to grab her a few times. Nonetheless, she was super-friendly and the food was excellent for pub grub.
A nice place to hang out for a while when you don't want to feel crowded in or underdressed! -

Went here for St. Patrick's day this last year and was hoping it would be comparable to Kells in Pike Place. This place had some great fries even with still being pretty sober and the music was great.
However what we soon realized was that the age in this place was quite a bit higher then we expected, Kells you can easily tell the average age is in the late 20's to early thirties. This place it was much closer to the late thirties to early 40's which is almost twice our age. So if you did read this review take it strictly as a review for their St. Patrick's day event which is great if you are past your prime but not if you are looking to have fun. However the $5 entry fee was a lot nicer then the $20 at Kells. -

Walk up to the bar and smell the B.O. emanating off the guy sitting next to you.
then walk away and realize it's not the guy, it's the bar.
then taste your beer and notice even the Guinness tastes like hobo ass. -

Solid pub with reasonably priced drinks, great service, and an awesome karaoke stand!
My friends and I ended up there pretty randomly. As part of a bday celebration, folks in the group wanted to get cheap drinks. A waiter at Lola recommended this place, which was three blocks down.
The place was not exactly happening. However, unexpectedly, we ended up having an epic time, for two reasons:
- Drinks: Irish car bomb. It was my first time having one and definitely a memorable experience.
- Karaoke: the DJ was super friendly and accomdating. We got to sing all the songs we wanted, and he took pictures of our group. Because the place wasn't crowded (and also the drinks), we sang to our hearts' content:) -

I am upating my review of the Blarney Stone because the staff is awesome. Every time I have gone in in the last year, they have been super helpful, accomodating, and friendly.
It's not upscale, so it's perfect casual hang out. It's also a great place to relax and play pool or darts. If you're visiting from out-of-town and need a spot to chill with your buddies, this is a great pick. -

I love going to this place for lunch and happy hour. Chelsea and Kathy are very fun, friendly, and great to talk to about places to go or try out in Seattle. I still need to go roller skating per Chelsea's suggestion and her skates that were displayed behind the bar from her birthday.
I recently brought a friend here. They remembered me and took care of us as we enjoyed a day of bar hopping. I always feel like I am welcome here. Thanks Blarney Stone and I like my shirt from here. -

A great spot to enjoy the game or take part in some trivia in the hustle and bustle of downtown Seattle!
Bartender was flying around the full bar, the trivia tables (3) and the other tables next to the bar! She was great, the Stella was as always good.
-1 for the chipped Stella glass it was sort of weird, I would rather not have the glass if it's chipped. I know Stella asked to serve their beer in their glasses but.. the only reason only 4 stars! -

*laughter through out the bar*
Holy crap, I have not had this much out on the town since...um the night before the evening spent here. Anyway, The Blarney Stone was the place to be last night and the setting for one of my favorite threads on Yelp in awhile (http://www.yelp.com/to...).
The Irish nachos sans meat were the perfect snack between the upteen rounds of carbombs. Cathy, our lovely Scot Canadian bartender, was just the right amount of surly and hilarious. Thank you other patrons for letting us rock out with our cocks out because we were beyond obnoxious and it was a blast.
Dfens, thanks so much for organizing this outing! The night was magical like many leaping and frolicking drunk elves skinning unicorns. Trivia night at BS is pretty great with most groups working hard to win. We decided to draw inappropriate pictures instead. Britney Spears blared on the jukebox. Many, many, maaaaaaany shots were taken. Unfortunately none of which were shots with a camera.Listed in: When Off The Hill

So I came here with the bad ass Dfens Dan, and Xav. V. and I have to tell you, it was a blast.
Taking shots left and right, and befriending the bartender kate.... which by the way told us that she might be a little oriental because god knows what washed up the shore back in the days hahhahahaa hilarious, but who cares, she was the best dive bar bartender ever!!!
from the old smell of this establishment, to the cheap top shelf booze, to the randoms that came in and out of this place, it was definitely a fun place to hang out with some awesome yelpers!!!!!
Anyone that hasn't met these two yelpers are missing out!!!! they will make your liver dissipate sooner than you know it! -

I've always liked this bar. It's not the fanciest and doesn't have anything that is super duper spectacular but it is comfortable and I always have a good time here. This bar seems to be a place that we go to every time we are in the area drinking at other bars nearby. It's always nice to stop by for a drink and the hummus platter when the late night tummy growling starts :)

Review from Autumn K.
On a stroll through downtown (by stroll I mean mid-day bar crawl) with my favorite San Francisco-to-Seattle defect, I came upon a huge, sprawling bar with (what? NO! YES?!?!) a smoking patio! It was love at first sight.
As far as I can tell, a smoking patio is a hard thing to come by in Seattle. Up for the weekend from relatively smoke-friendly San Francisco, I was shocked to be asked to move away from the building to smoke by almost every doorman at every bar we were at. It seems like the sole purpose of Seattle doormen is to keep smokers at bay.
Once it became apparent that I could eat, drink, and smoke simultaneously, we settled in to the nurturing (enabling) arms of the Blarney Stone. It actually is just like the Blarney Stone in San Francisco, except cleaner and better smelling. And the bartenders here ROCK. Funny, friendly, and quick to refill your beer, these two won me over very quickly. The clientele on Friday afternoon (2ish) were mostly business folks and out of towners. The Irish nachos were so good I walked away two pounds further from my goal weight. Nachos and two rounds of beers only set me back about $24. That is the smallest bill I had all weekend in Seattle.
It was well worth the trip and I intend to bring the SF Yelpers through during our Seattle pub crawl weekend. Keep up the good work, guys! -

I've been here for DYLs, I've been here for dinner when my boyfriend and I were craving wings and fish and chips, I've ended up here with my best friend while in search of some decent grub to sober us up after a night downtown and I've come to the conclusion that I realllllly like the Blarney Stone.
Maybe it's the whiskey I drink, or the fact that I have Irish blood running through my veins, or maybe I'm just addicted to the Irish Nachos, but the BSP always leaves me with a cozy, relaxed feeling (despite being located so close to the Belltown neighborhood).
The bartenders are friendly, the food is great and the crowd seems generally older and mellow regardless of which day of the week I've found myself there.
The thing that really keeps me coming back? IRISH NACHOS. Whoever came up with the idea of using fries instead of tortilla chips should be made a SAINT. Yes. Seriously. Gimme some extra sour cream and I am in heaven for a good 20 minutes working my way through those badboys.
One other thing that I found notable when I was there on a recent Friday night was the lack of women in the bar. I was pretty much it. They could use some estrogen in there, lady friends. Go get your girlfriends, come play some pool and eat some fries.Listed in: *EAT AT JOE'S*, Gawd only knows what I'd be…

It's like the blue collar Irish bar of downtown. It's not fancy, it's a little rough around the edges but it's not nearly as scary as Kelly's is. They have a decent happy hour, 4-7 and 10-midnight $3.50 micros & wells and they have Hoegaarden people, Hoegaarden!! They have some $5.00 food during happy hour and it's not that bad, it may not be good for you but it is pretty tasty. The Irish nachos sans the beef are my new favorite, fries with nacho toppings yummy.
A co-worker and I use to come in here for a pre-shopping drink, two beers before shoe shopping and all of a sudden shoe shopping becomes that much more fun and exciting and decisions are made with the quickness. Than after shopping we'd come back for one more beer to celebrate our new shoes, good times I tell you, I sure miss them.
They have pool tables and darts and apparently karaoke on Friday nights. Plus they have lots of TVs for your sports viewing pleasure. The only downside for me is the staff, bartenders are great, servers not so great, I say sit at the bar or just go to the bar to order your drinks and snacks otherwise you could be sitting around thirsty for a long time. -

Blarney Blarney Blarney... What can I say? You're pretty awesome. This bar has served as our "home base" bar for about 4 Fri nights in a row. It's a great place to start the night. The food is good. Actually, for the happy hour price, it's great. I highly recommend the chicken quesidilla.
James the bartender is nice. Quiet in a sort of don't F up in here and we'll get along fine kinda way. They have Golden Tee (a fav of mine) and plenty of beer on tap. There's a couple of pool tables, and wii, and plenty of drink specials..
My complaint... Is the LIAR of a jukebox machine.. Ok, I get it, you're programmed to play backstreet boys songs on purpose so people change the music.. However, saying you get 2 songs for a dollar when it's really only 1, is kinda crappy. Not that this is a huge problem considering on Fri nights the dj plays top 40 and hip hop etc...
Other than that, I think the Blarney Stone is an awesome place to start the night out and then wander around to some of the other bars in the area. -
Review from Betsey S.
My first time here was on St Patricks Day of 2006, and I think that was the first or second day they were open. I was impressed they had it so together on such a busy day right after opening. It's a really spacious bar, especially for an Irish pub, and the walls are covered in vintage wood paneling of some kind. Parts of it look like old lockers?
Guinness is poured perfectly and only $3.50 during happy hour (4-7pm).! Perfectly sized fish and chips are $5, along with about 10 other food items, including 'Leprechaun Nuts' and a corned beef quesadilla. I haven't had either, but I really want to know how many takers they get for those. Corned beef quesadilla????
I like the Blarney Stone despite it's sort of generic Irish bar-ness because it is EASY. Easy to find a place to sit, easy to get fast service, easy to afford, easy to find something fun to do inside, easy to make it in time for happy hour, and an easy place to enjoy yourself.Listed in: Be Comforted: Guinness and…

So I'm usually kind of a lightweight and I usually don't have any cash on hand. This proved to be a not-so-great thing when I stopped by The Blarney Stone Pub to pass some time!
I walked in right before the end of Happy Hour and grabbed a seat at the bar. Most everyone around me looked like a 35+ male. I was starving and figured I should grab a small bite so I wouldn't be starving in 2 hours (when I had dinner plans). The HH menu said I had to spend at least $4 on a drink to be able to take advantage of the $2.99 food menu, so I ordered a vodka cran (wells are $4) and some fish & chips.
The drink was strong and had me feeling a bit tipsy when I finished it.
The food included a big pile of super-hot greasy fries and ONE small piece of (also very hot) fish. The fish was soft and the amount of food ended up filling me up just enough.
I had limited interactions with the bartender, but he seemed nice enough and I was rather surprised by his honesty about the dartboards being in bad shape and pretty un-usable (when someone came to ask for the darts). I like that he didn't just hand 'em over and let them figure that out for themselves. (I hope they get new ones soon, cause that kind of bites!)
So I was feeling done and ready to pay.... and then I looked up, and noticed the sign on the bar that said something like "$10 minimum for credit cards." So... I ordered a Hoegaarden for $5. That helped me reach that minimum and learn that I like that beer enough to be able to finish a whole glass of it. (That was my first time trying it.)
The drinks are definitely a bit pricey and the place is a bit divey, but it IS downtown (I'm sure the rent is high) and it seems like it could be a fun place to kick it with a group or to get some cheap pub grub and booze when you're Downtown during Happy Hour.Listed in: Happy Hour Adventures!, Downtown

We live downtown so we try out a lot of happy hours in our area. I have to say that the Blarney Stone is going to the top of the list. The happy hour food was great, beer selection was excellent and the staff was tops. We had the halibut fish and chips and it was the best fish and chips we have had in Seattle so far. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

Killed time here with the Fiancé while we were waiting for our table at Serious Pie. We decided to stop in for some drinks because it was happy hour. He got a couple beers and I tried a drink that was recommended by one of the girls there, I believe it was called the "Chanel". Honestly I didn't care for it... I had to plug my nose and chug the rest of it because there was a really weird aftertaste to it. Friendly server though.

Oh the blarney stone. I've had so many nights here I don't remember. A very nice memory was from my 25th birthday when I had my BFF at the time plan a surprise party for me. Of course it wasn't a surprise. I told her who to invite and make it look like I didn't know. But I did. And it was awesome. Apparently I have normal people control freak issues.
I had met a lot of people that night and a lot of my friends stopped by. I was lookin *HAWT* in a silky halter top and jeans w/ my pumps. Yup, I pulled that off!
After having more alcohol in my body than blood, I decided I should release all the excess alcohol. After doing that I was READY TO GO! it's fun being drunk but not having any of the alcohol in your stomach! hahahah so, there is this little ramp thing going to the outdoor smoking patio and i guess my heel was off balance and I fell. Smack dab on my ass. with EVERYONE watching. I looked over and my friend Ryan said, "HOLY SHIT, QUINN, you took a tumble but you didn't spill a GD drop!" yay gin martinis!Listed in: LIBATIONS

I went here for a laid back lunch with a friend. For the price, I thought the food was pretty good. I had $5 salmon cakes and $4 soup, both of which were a little bland but otherwise alright.
The waitress / bartender was wonderful. We were the only people in the restaurant, so she chatted a bit and was very funny and welcoming (and didn't try to shoo us out when we spent 2 hours talking after we were done eating!). I wish I could give them a "3.5", as they really are a great little lunch place.
(Can't say much about the bar atmosphere, but there are pool tables and dart boards in the back, and it seems like the place would be fun on a busy night)
