I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS PLACE CLOSED !!!!
I know it has been closed for awhile but hopefully someone will have info and maybe message me if they reopen somewhere new.
This place had it going. Great selection of sugar free syrups, outstanding espresso, good pastries, cheap prices, and a cool lounge. The owner was a very cool guy. He gave me 10% off for military all the time nad I felt bad to take it but tipped then back. As most said the location mush have killed them. SO SAD, this place was awesome. -

[Jetsons theme song playing]
Leave house
Drive down I-5
Get off at Rosecrans
Do a U-Turn
Proceed past oil change place (watch out, lube dude!)
Pull to a screeching halt just before the drive thru speaker:
ME: I'D LIKE A CAPPUCCINO AND A SCONE!
BARISTA: Sure, no problem!
Grab coffee and bag from smiling barista
Spill coffee on suit
Navigate gauntlet of big rigs, MCRDers, early morning boat crews, and SPAWAR employees trying to get to Kurtz St
Drive, drive, drive to Pac Highway
Reach work
Enjoy coffee
Take one bite of gross scone
Toss scone
Thanks for trying, Bean Bar. I appreciate the effort. -

I love this place! I fell in love with their brewing before I discovered anything else. The coffee brewed here is better than Diedrich's, and of course light-years better than Starbucks and Coffee Bean. When I am in the mood for a mixed coffee drink, these guys never let me down. My personal favorite is the Oreo Javaccino. Holy cream filled wonderullness batman!
I was just in this week and they reopened the lounge in the back. They now have ample lounging space for surfing free wi-fi or reading a book, or whatever.
The music is usually kickin, and the smells are amazing. I mean they bake their own muffins there, and most of the morning it smells like a bakery.
Please check this place out, it's well worth the stop in! -

Best coffee in town. I like those Caramel slushy numbers they have. Rick is the coolest owner of a business and has fun with his customers.
It's socially conscious alternative to all the chains out there as well. They sell Fair Trade, so no one is slaving in Africa for cocoa beans, and it's all organic too. The DRIVE-THRU is the sweetest part of all, go on the way to work, it's FASSSSSSSSSSST!
Very indie, very hip. The design of the place is really cool. The Guggenheim looking windows and copper outside show ingenuity for a conservative town like San Diego. -

I feel sorry for this place. They make good coffee and have comfortable couches and all that, but their location is horrible. It is pretty much in the middle of the nudie bar capitol of San Diego county. When you look out the front window at the Bean Bar you see three such Strip Clubs, and I'm sorry but that is major turn-off for me. I go out to coffee houses for the environment, and big obnoxious fluorescent signs just don't do it for me.
They get three stars, however, because they try, and they have a drive-thru.

CLOSED....drove by here last week and there were "for lease" signs on it. It was a great place, just location, location, location wasn't right for this coffee shop.

Boo, didn't seem like they were making $, but the coffee was good. Looks like they spent decent money on their supplies like cups and stuff, too.

Ahhh! I was devastated when this place closed down last summer! I hate Starbucks...with a passion! The Coffee Bean in Mission Valley is wonderful...but I do still miss the local Bean Bar!

This place is a little different for a coffee bar. I think the building used to be a burger-joint drive through. They've retained the drive through and have a small interior with a couch, a comfy chair or two and a couple of tables, and the obligatory free WiFi. I wound up there one Saturday afternoon while getting my car worked on nearby. I had a tasty raspberry iced mocha. They have some flavorful drink creations. As it's on the way to the freeway, it seems to be a good option for grabbing a drink via drive through. I've noticed some bands play here on some evenings as well. And the retro decor is cool, though it looks a little Ikea-like on the inside.

Located in the somewhat grungy part of Rosecrans where places like The Body Shop serve to entertain sailors and Marines, The Bean Bar is a nice little comfy enclave for people who want some quiet time to themselves and a decent cup of coffee. I haven't gotten coffee from the drive thru, but it is an inventive idea on the owners' behalf. The lounge is a bit funky and modernistic, but comfy. Plus there is free WiFi here, and I've found it a good place to do some reading and writing. Plus the people behind the counter were friendly, and it looks like this place gets some eclectic regulars. I've seen both hipsters and Navy officers stopping by for a drink.

This place has it all! Cozy area to sit, tasty drinks (even non coffee drinks for people like me) and yummy baked goods! Plus, there is usually a cute baby there too! I really like that the place is owned by a local business man. He really cares about the community!! It is such a different feel than a nationally known coffee house! The drive thru is a a great touch... If you happen to be in the area CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!
