5 reviews for The Beach Waterpark
The Beach Waterpark has had to struggle for mindshare ever since King's Island installed its own waterpark several years ago. They've done so by turning the waterpark into an anything and everything park, hosting a Christmas event that turns the wavepool into a skating rink. They also turn their pavillion into a dance club in the summer on certain nights.
These kinds of things have helped The Beach Waterpark stay afloat through the years. Tip: Come for Aztec Adventure and the wavepool, stay for the lazy river.
For me, The Beach is good for only a few reasons.
I have to preface the rest of this review by saying that I'm a total wimp when it comes to rides, so I've never experienced The Cliff or Aztec Adventure. I am happy to go to The Beach, however, for it's lovely lazy river and the huge wave pool during the summer (the wave pool has real sand, which makes me feel very tropical every time I go).
In the winter months, The Beach has taken over for King's Island's missing holiday celebration by creating their own. It's sponsored by Warm98 and is a family friendly event that includes ice skating (they turn the wave pool into a rink, it's pretty sweet), winter treats, and horse-drawn carriages. It's a little cheesy but I think it's fun.
The Beach is much cheaper than King's Island, at $27 a ticket without special promotional rates...which the water park seems to be running every other day.
In my opinion, The Beach has become somewhat obsolete. They don't offer a variety of ride options. There are only a few good slides, and the rest are boring. Besides, for just about the same price, you can hop across the street and enjoy a nicer water park plus a gigantic amusement park.
There are a few attractions that I enjoyed here. The Aztec Adventure can be fun. It's the longest ride with lots of twists and turns and can go both fast and slow. The wave pool was also always enjoyable. I never had enough guts to try the cliff (the scary one that Christopher refers to), but I'm sure if you can get yourself up there it might be fun! Also, the wave pool is teensy tiny compared to Kings Island.
Summer passes can be pretty pricey for the amount of attractions the park offers. I really don't think it's a good deal at all. I could spend an hour at this park and then be bored and want to go home.
I always had a great fear of waterslides. Roller coasters strap you in, but when you set your bathing-suited buns on these chutes, you literally fall. Therefore, The Cliff, that huge luge prominently visible from I-71, always made me want to wet my pants in fear (which, while still disgusting, is at least unnoticeable in a water park). Eventually I came to trust the engineers and took the plunge. I don't know how fast I went, but I had to do it again. And again. And again.
Which, really, is what you'll have to do at the Beach, since it isn't completely packed with ride options (maybe a dozen). But you can lounge in the Lazy Miami River, bob in the huge wave pool, or bask in the sun. It's not sandy or salty, but it's the best oceanic simulation you'll find in Ohio.
Food and such is all overpriced, of course, but there are picnic tables so you can bring your own sustenance.
Mmmm, this is the most awesome place to hit up in the summer. I used to love floating down the lazy river and just drifting around and around. I love their water-slides as well! The one with the big raft that you go down on always used to freak me right out though. But I always went on it anyway!
