10 reviews for The Bay Cafe
More stuff I've eaten:
Pancakes - huge, perfect, and hit the spot ANY time of the day
Eggs- cooked to order and fresh
Most expensive thing I've eaten so far:
$6.99
Red Snapper (w fries)- Light, crunchy, and yummy. The seasoning on it is sufficient and needs nothing else. There was a lot, so I spread it out over 2 meals. $6.99 = 2 meals = Deal!

A true budget bite. But you know I'll keep coming back until I've tried everything.

Writing a review after only one visit doesn't really seem fair. But being that I'm not likely to dine there again, here goes.
Why can't some restaurant owners keep their places clean? At this place, all they do is sit there and read the newspaper. Get off your butt, and tidy up. Newspapers on the floor next to my table bothered me.
I parked in their( very dirty ) convenient lot, so I could watch my dog. But their windows are so dirty I could hardly see my car. Okay, got that off my chest.
Now the service. Very nice people bring you your food, and get back to reading.
The food. good burger if it had stayed together. And with three very small 1-ply napkins, I needed a basin. Don't think they had one.
The buffet ? I don't think so.
Very convenient location, and pretty good fries.
Happy to have another great local owned joint in our hood. Prices are FANTASTIC!!! The inside of the building has been completely finished out with new floors and fixtures. Very bright and clean.
I have had breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is not huge but well worth the price. Lunch was a basic club with onion rings or fries. Fresh and quality!
I ate at this place with some union pals of mine. The prices were low and the quality was diner-good. I liked the cozy atmosphere and the fact that it was a shared space with another restaurant.
This place is extremely cheap, there isn't a sandwich on the menu that is over $5 and it includes your choice of fries, curly fries and onion rings. My BLT was nothing too special; I felt that there wasn't enough bacon but all the components worked out well. It's a little bit of an odd place for a business in the Dimond District but I wonder how much business they get from nearby Bret Harte Middle School
It looks like most of their business comes from the kids from the nearby Bret Hart Middle School. Kids are always hanging in and outside of that place. The prices are way cheap, so the kids can afford to spend their weekly allowance there. They are now accepting credit cards, which is fantastic. I tried their breakfast. The french toast, potatoes and bacon. Everything was good, especially the potatoes. However, one time I got a Denver omelet and it was loaded with too much onions and was too greasy and it upset my stomach the whole day.

So glad a cafe less than a block away from my house has opened. This location used to be a Chinese… Read more »
Recession friendly! Cheap prices! Friendly staff! Omelette was average but fresh nonetheless. The tables were a little dirty. I will probably try their pizza one day.
Bay Cafe is convenient and friendly. I had a cheeseburger and fries, tasty, fresh, and so satisfying! The prices are hard to beat, meals range 4-60. And they serve breakfast too! Menu ranges - burgers, fish and chips, breakfast menu, a range of sandwiches.
I stumbled upon the Bay Cafe after a coworker mentioned it (I drove right by it for several days without noticing that it was open for business) and I have to report that is seems promising. I had a slab of veggie lasagna that could have fed 2 people for $5!! The spot is luckily only a walk from work--parking lot is small--and they only accepted cash, but said that would accept cards sooner or later. Give it a try if you're roaming the area and need a cheap, but tasty bite to eat!!
Norris T, you might have been the first to review Bay Cafe on Yelp, but I guarantee that I was the first person to eat there on Wednesday midday, their grand opening!!
They had a limited menu, which included all my favorite things to eat at a Golden State Warriors game, sans the garlic fries and the 10 dollar bottle of beer. I was slightly put off by the fact that you could buy cup o' noodles from them, but on second thought realized how genius that was being that I always have odd cravings for ramen at all times of the day.
I got the 10-wing combo which came with fries. For 4.99, I can't really complain but everything needed more salt. Maybe it'll be next upgraded next time? A woman was eating a open faces veggie sandwich that had fresh avocado slices covered in cheese on toasted bread. I wish i got that instead, plus it was even cheaper (3.99 or less?).
They got an expanding menu but wouldn't divulge the details. They also have a buffet-type counter set-up.... Chinese buffet perhaps? At any rate, great service, decent food and perfect if you're dining on a budget!
