1635 Trap RdSo, since I was a little baby dyke I've always wanted to play at Wolf Trap. Well, last October I finally got my chance..... kinda. Although our band is doing pretty well, we still haven't graced Wolf Trap's Filene Center Stage. So, if you can't play the place, what's the second best thing? Yep, rent it out.
The most popular part of Wolf Trap is the Filene Center, with it's beautiful lawn and summer concerts. There's also The Barns of Wolf Trap which are two historic barns (one English and one German circa 1800) which were a gift to Wolf Trap. They are from upstate New York and were dismantled piece-by-piece and rebuilt at their current site about a half mile south of the Filene Center. Throughout the year you can catch shows by your favorite indie artists and The Wolf Trap Opera company October through May. And, if you're feeling like getting hitched or having an exquisite event, you can rent the Barns... and this is just what we did after our wedding in Massachussetts (because Virginia thinks we're unraveling the moral fabric of society and traditional marriage... just ask Ted Haggard). Anyway....
The Barns are beautiful, with incredible sound, stage, bar, and ambience. If you're interested in having any type of event there, contact Rose. She was the most helpful, friendly and patient person throughout the whole process. You couldn't ask for a nicer person when planning nuptials. For rental of both barns, you're looking at about 3K. If you're planning on having an event on a Saturday night, you must rent both barns. Additionally, the caterer you use has to be on their list of approved caterers (because of the historic nature of the buildings and the liability). This was no problem because the caterers we chose ,Well Dunn Catering, were absolutely magnificent. More on them when I have time to gush appropriately.
Needless to say, I ended up playing at Wolf Trap and it was well worth it.
