Absolutely wonderful dog groomers.  They are terrific with the dogs and always do a great job.  My corgi has a crush on Alan.

I'm suprised no one has reviewed this place on Yelp yet. They're great! I got a dog a few years back and I had no idea where to take him for anything. Toby is my first dog as an adult and being a Lhasa Apso he's not very low maintenance. Since I was taking him to Adobe Animal Hospital nearby I was using Beaugay's which is right down the street. They were great until the woman that cut Toby's hair quit. After that it was a disaster. I decided to try the higher priced but more highly recommended place up the street, The Barking Lot. Suffice to say I love it and have been going there ever since (last couple of years or so). It may not be the cheapest place but it's definitely worth the cost.

Alan and Miriam are always very friendly and treat dogs wonderfully. I drop off Toby in the morning and pick him up in the afternoon. They walk him while he's there and give me treats for him when he leaves. You can tell they really genuinely like him a lot. Toby needs to go in every four weeks and it's important that they do his glands and a good short haircut for him since he gets so shaggy. They do a great job everytime. They even cut really cute eyelashes on him with his long hair. It's adorable.

Anyways I highly recommend this place if you live in the area. They're pretty busy so be sure to book well in advance. The shop is really cute too. It's set off the street in Los Altos near Adobe Animal Hospital and San Antonio Rd. It has a parking lot out front so it's very convenient when you're in a hurry. They open very early too so you can drop off your dog before work. They do close at 4:30pm (on the weekdays I go) so you have to make sure to pick up your dogs before then.

I wish I could give The Barking Lot a real review, but I cannot. Here's my experience with them:

I called them approximately 4-5 weeks ago, left a message (I've yet to call and someone actually answer their phone) and no one returned my call. I called again, left a message, and someone did return my call and put me on a wait list for the next 2 weeks. I didn't hear from them, so evidently there were no cancellations. I'm fine with that. At the end of the 2 weeks, I called and left a message, no one returned my call.  I was beginning to feel like a stalker...  I called yet again, left a message, no return call. I guess I should have gotten the hint and just given up sooner, but I consider myself to be an eternal optimist.

You know, I'm fine if they were to call me back and let me know they were too busy (clearly they are) or have too many clients and can't take any new ones right now.  I would understand as I know that the holidays are an especially busy time of the year for groomers...

I just think it is a poor business practice to not return a call, no matter how busy a place is (why even have an answering machine if you're not going to return messages?).

I finally did call another groomer, who put me on their wait list (thank you Critter Clipper in Mountain View) and called me back within 10 minutes to let me know they already had a cancellation. Hopefully the experience there will be good so I can give them a favorable review. (ETA: I had an excellent experience with Critter Clipper and have given them a great review!)
