This is my all time favorite restaurant in Mobile, AL. The service was Great! The food was delicious! Best salads in town. Prices are good for the portions!
Casual Fine Dining with a southern flair. Daily Specials. Martini menu.
Located in historic Midtown 2 bls west of Broad (near downtown)
FREE WiFi, out door seating, parking,

The food here has always been pretty good but not to die for, the service ranges from just ok to somewhat unfriendly, and the prices WAY too expensive for what it is.
Not worth it!
For mobile, this place is very good. It's got ambiance at the very least. The foods delicious, great for seafood lovers but there's something for non-fish eaters too. I only recently discovered Bakery Cafe so I can't comment on whether it has gone downhill but I found it to be a perfect place if you want to go out to lunch or dinner and you want something a bit more upscale than what you usually find in mobile.
We wanted to get a little dressed up and have a nice dinner, so we decided to try the Bakery Cafe, which we'd heard from friends was a little more upscale than other restaurants in the area. Other reviews have said the service was lacking, but we had a great experience (we sat at a table in the bar -- I don't know if that made a difference). The entrees are a bit pricy, but the portions make up for it -- my $22.95 pork chops came with two huge chops on a mound of mashed potatoes. Drinks, desserts, and appetizers are very reasonably priced and just as delicious.
This is another favorite spot for gumbo. Or for happy hour. Good food on the restaurant side, friendly knowledgeable staff. It's not quite the hot spot it was a few years ago, but chances are you'll run into someone you know.
There was a time when I was a big fan of the Bakery Cafe. I ate there at least once a week because it was close to my office. They had a phenomenal smoked fish (of the day) Ceasar salad. The last few times I've been in - I've been disappointed. Primarily in the service. The food is still good. For instance - they have wonderful bread - served with an olive oil dip. My mouth waters every time I think about going there and eating the bread. However, the last two times I visited - the bread arrived about the same time the check did!!!! BAD FORM.
I still take out of town business guests for lunch occasionally and cross my fingers that the service will be up to par. Its a bit noisy - but that's because of their attempt to preserve the integrity of a beautiful old Mobile building - which they have accomplished quite well.
