Review from Marisa R.

The Baker's House is a cute and tasty new(ish) addition to Miller. Sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and scone in any of the homey rooms in what was once in old convent attached to a Catholic church. It is now a renovated bakery and cafe, similar in motif to a rustic teahouse....right down to the fireplace in one of the rooms on the main floor.
Breakfast is served all day and includes tasty quiches, like the "Mile High Quiche" with tomato, spinach, mushroom, feta and ricotta, or the "French Lemon pepper Pastry Quiche"---both for less than $5.
They excel in sandwiches, my favorite being "The Nantucket'--a giant Maryland crab cake with a dill aoli on a pretzel roll. It's most, tender, and there isn't a fishy-bite in the whole sandwich. Other winners are "The Captain" with pulled smokehouse pork, red onions, melted cheddar, and a light bbq sauce on a pretzel roll or marble rye; and "The Homestead" with all-white mandarin chicken salad, oranges, pineapples, and water chestnuts in a light, dill sauce.
If you're looking for delicious and unique homemade soups, this is the place to go. Look for homemade lobster bisque on Fridays, sweet butternut squash soup, or roasted Wisconsin cheddar--all accompanied by a free cheddar and dill scone.
The real treat to this place lays in their dessert and pastry case that changes their sweets lineup by the day. They pride themselves in over 52 flavors of scones, but any of their fruit tarts, chocolate tarts, eclairs, napoleons, brownies, or cakes can't be missed.

Very good food. SUPER CUTE and friendly. I felt like I was in France. However-I think it is VERY expensive for the area.

I really like The Baker's House. I went here for the first time on Mother's day when I brought my mother there for brunch. Everything is fresh and well made. I really like how the place is set up like a French bistro. If I had the money, I would come here for breakfast every day.

Great place in an area that is returning to it's once prosperous status.
Cute little house that is decorated nicely. Excellent coffee and food. Smiling barista....nice!
A little out of the way, but worth it! -

FANTASTIC soups and sandwiches!!! This is one of the best restaurants outside of the city of Chicago.
My only gripe are the hours!!! Right now, the hours are 9a-5p. I wish this place was open earlier so I could stop in the morning on my way to work for coffee and a scone.
Other than that, excellent bistro; a MUST SEE for the area! -
