While cycling through Williamsburg on a Sunday, my friend and I stopped by The Bagel Store to refuel. Loading up on two everything bagels - one with cheddar bacon cream cheese and the other with chipotle cream cheese in lieu of jalapeño cream cheese, which they were out of - and an iced coffee, we were soon faced with two tasty bagel bombs, and enough fuel for the rest of our trip.

I want to return for the rainbow.

Bookmarked this place for about a year, I'm glad that I finally paid my visit! So was my wonder resolved - yes, the bagel is still rainbow color inside : ) unfortunately I was cashless as usual, so I spent all I had (dollar bills and coins - total of $4) to get a plain rainbow bagel - no cheese spread :-|. The bagel tastes just like other bagels, except it's more moist.

A bit pricy for daily bfast. But it worths a visit for a special weekend treat - colors always lighten up my mood.

FYI, cash only! And coffee if you check-in!

I came here because my FOMO got the best of me and when I saw that a Rainbow Bagel existed in the world, I had to find a way to make it mine!

I somehow got here at just the right time. The line was not out the door, but when I queued up, I looked behind me and all of a sudden it was wrapping around the block! I arrived just after 4pm on a Friday.

The staff announced they were making their last rainbow bagel batch of the day and were allowing 2/person and counted off people in line. The mother/daughter duo in front of me literally got the last rainbow bagels (they were going to order 4 between them) and when I was told I had missed the cut-off, I let out a defeated sigh and was going to just throw in the towel when the lovely order-taker kindly guilted them into letting me have one of their 4 rainbow bagels (especially after I told them I had just flown in from Austin and made a beeline from the airport here specifically for one). They acquiesced and let me have one of their RB's. I will never bad mouth someone from Long Island again!

The wait was well over an hour for the bagels to come out and be dispersed. I happened to also order the last cinnacragel w/walnut maple bacon schmear to hold me over and it was BOMG amazing! When I finally got my long awaited rainbow bagel (w/funfetti cream cheese) it was surreal...while it was not the best bagel I have ever had, it was still pretty tasty and the novelty was worth the wait.

The long wait aside, I had a good time here...and the reviews that dig on the staff, I have to say I had a completely different experience. The staff were awesome and even let me stay past closing to finish my bagel.

Would definitely recommend for the experience, though it may be a hot NY minute before I return unless I have about 2+hrs to burn.

Rainbow bagel review only: Be prepared to be hangry and hate eat your rainbow bagel by the time you get it. At least staff is nice. Cash only, don't believe Yelp, or the signs because a rainbow bagel with a specialty spread is like $6 +. Also, if you're a savory bagel person (like me) then you'll def be underwhelmed by the sweet spreads and the bagel itself. Only plus side is it's pretty, but I was still hate posting it on the grams. 2.5 hours, just no. I've learned my lesson and I've done this to myself, I understand. But never again.

I'm sure they have good bagels, but I can't justify the long way to Brooklyn from where I am, especially when I have a plethora of bagel options for cheaper elsewhere.

Why do I always fall for the fads? Yes you're gonna take a thousand photos for the 'gram, snap, etc. Yes everyone is going to ask where you got that gaudy bagel from. Yes your next bowel movement will probably be as colorful as a pack of Skittles.

But, are you going to actually be satisfied by this bagel? Purists will say no. They won't even so much as sniff this abomination. No they will harken back to a day when smelly raw fish on dairy and rye bread was considered a true bagel breakfast. But you've got people like me willing to try the savory and the sweet.

Here's the thing, this bagel is overloaded on sweet. The bagel itself is fine and could pass for a pastry in most parts. It is sweet and for the most part it pulls apart softly so there's actually a decent texture. But you bite into it based on appearance and you kinda expect it to be doughnut like. Instead it is still just sweet bread. The funfetti cream cheese is way too sweet. Put the two together and you will need an IV drip because you'll be diabetic in no time.

So moral of the story, take your photos and take them to your heart's content.

Jesus Christ. This place is like the twilight zone. I have no idea what goes on behind the counter or what goes through the minds of these employees but its NOT good.

Went to pick up a pre-order this morning. The order was placed yesterday, over the phone. Get there, and they have no record of any order under my name. The guy behind the counter kept trying to tell me I either called the wrong shop, or placed the order online. My friend actually placed the order, she called them not once, but TWICE (phone log was checked and we were at the correct place). Apparently the guy she spoke to was extremely rude as well, and had to repeat the order about five times because he kept having random conversations while trying to take her order.

Anyway, guy says he'll take my order and make it. I repeated the order, he actually wrote it down too. Since they didn't make my order when it was supposed to be made, they didn't even have the bagel I wanted. I settled for an everything bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese, tomato and avocado.

I just arrived at my destination and opened the wrapper. 1. Bagel isn't toasted. 2. Avocado is brown. 3. There's random bacon piled on it. After calling it in twice, repeating in person, and having it written down didn't matter. It was wrong.

Who the hell puts bacon on a cream cheese bagel???!!! Its a mess and doesn't even look appetizing at all. Will not be back.

Update: A very kind woman named Francine has reached out and clearly knows a thing or two about service and keeping customers happy. Will update review after The Bagel Store is given a second shot.

Everything bagel, veggie cream cheese, brown avocado, tomato and random raw bacon thrown on top.

      Gimmick? Leprechauns? Rainbow bagels?

These are the thoughts as I wait in line for this bagel experience. But after I got my $20 dollars worth of bagel and schmear to experience at home I discovered something. Eating rainbows are fun and kind of disgusting at the same time.

The rainbow bagel itself has minimal flavor. It's just bagel like but if you don't slice it in half and schmear it but eat it like I do, ripping pieces off the bagel and getting the soft middle bits and scooping it out to dip in the cheeses then it becomes a mind-effing experience where if you're not careful you think you're eating play dough for a sec. Or two. That's the only disgusting part.

My first inclination was to put them on my face and take a stupid picture. The pictures they post of rainbow bagel with sprinkle schmear is beautiful but the bagel itself made me want to just play.

The sprinkle laced schmear is good. Sweetens the rainbow experience. But if you go for the strangely orange jalapeño tofu spread it adds a kick to the rainbow experience. I love jalapeño cream cheese! They have lots of savory cream cheeses for the option btw.

I also unknowingly (by suggestion) got a few other colorful bagels. I was trying to sample a sriracha but it was out. The pink and purple vanilla passion was pretty boring (I like rainbows!). The other a blue sprinkle laced blueberry which was created based on the crystal meth in breaking bad. That one left me with smurf hands. I like blueberry bagels but I'm not a fan of artificial blue fingers...

So yea, thanks!!!! bagel store for bringing back my childhood in my breakfast experience. Next time I may not be able to resist the rainbow bagel but I will try those delectable savories I see sitting on top of the crazy food colored bagels on your display.

The taste of the rainbow bagels is as wonderful as it looks! It is quite big and filling so it would be advisable to share with multiple people. My group of five shared two bagels. The workers were really friendly and helpful and explained all the different flavors of the rainbow bagels they had available. They even had a 420 hemp bagel since it was 4/19 the day we got there.

We got the cotton candy bagel which was blue and pink and also the vanilla-flavored bagel which was the rainbow-colored one, both with the confetti cream cheese because it would look good with the colorful image. They spread on ALOT of cream cheese onto the bagels which oozes out of the center of the bread. I would have expected this to be very sweet, just judging off the rainbow, artificial color. However, it was actually very good and not extremely sweet! Even though we got two different flavors, vanilla and cotton candy, they both tasted the same. The cotton candy one didn't have much cotton candy flavor. The flavor of the rainbow bagels kind of resembles a sugar cookie.

I recall the prices to be quite pricey. If i remember correctly, the two bagels total cost was around $13. It was a good experience though! Would recommend trying for the first time!

      RAINBOW BAGEL RAINBOW BAGEL!!!

By now I'm sure most people have seen this beautiful creation all over social media. And let me tell you it definitely lived up to expectations. Stopped by around 1 o'clock on a sunday afternoon. The place was full as expected. I got there as they were putting in their past batch of rainbow bagels so they told me it would be about a half an hour wait. They also have a bunch of other colored bagels like blue and white or blue and pink, depending on the time of year. They also had a ton of different kinds of cream cheese! I opted for the funfetti which combined with the rainbow bagel was just fantastic!

Apparently you can call ahead to reserve your bagels which I would definitely recommend as they do tend to run out by around two o clock. When i left they still had a few colors but I went back to check around four o clock they were completely out of all of the colored bagels.

CASH ONLY! There is an atm inside but you don't want to have to pay those atm fees.
