i bought a green egg smoker from this place a few years ago and it has been one of my best purchases of all time. originally i knew practically nothing about barbecueing and even less about smoking but over the years ive learned to love both using my smoker and going up to wilmette to shop for sauces, rubs, cooking utensils, or different types of charcoal. this store has everything related to grilling that you could ever come up with and dan and brian, the two owners, know their stuff and are great to work with. the story carries everything from your basic weber grills up to top of the line kalamzoo outdoor kitchen grills. they even offer cooking classes and wine tasting events. guys, you wont be disappointed. try this place

So I just received a Weber Bullet Smoker as a gift...and I was in dire need of some smoke wood....Applewood & White Oak to be exact.
The Backyard BBQ Store has it ALL. Cooking tools, accessories, sauces, books, marinades, dry rubs, wood, charcoal, lump charcoal, bbq timers, weber bullets, green egg smokers.
The staff here has a passion for BBQ. They are more than helpful in answering any questions!
Bottom line...if you need BBQ stuff, and you are within reach of the North Shore...get over there! -

This place is the bomb as far as grilling goes. I happened to stumble upon it in 2005 while trying to find some kind of bbq'ing gadget my husband wanted. Well... they had it! I swear, it's like Toys R Us for grillers. From the novices to the pros, this place is for you.
They have everything from ALL different kinds of woodchips, to japeleno pepper holders (for making homemade poppers on the grill!) to cute napkins and plates and outdoor fireplaces. They even offer AWESOME cooking classes....everything from seafood to bbq to vegetarian.
The guys that work there are VERY helpful and they make you feel like you are a friend just showing up for some advice - even if you're a girl like me. ;-) Very nice guys...
Their web site doesn't do them justice - only a small fraction of what they have in the store.

A great find once I found myself the proud owner of a Weber smoker. All the lump charcoal, wood chips, accessories, rubs, cookbooks, etc. that you might ever hope to find under one roof. A bit on the pricey side, but that's acceptable to me when much of what they stock is difficult to find outside of mail-order or a lengthy roadtrip. The cooking classes are a wonderful addition as well...I got to taste Gary Wiviott's very own barbecue here!

Dan at the Backyard BBQ store is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about BBQ products. He can help you find that unique rub that will help your BBQ taste sooooo much better. He also has the perfect grill for that backyard man's paradise. If you have questions about wine or beer, he can help out a little bit as well, which was above and beyond my expectations.

I LOVE this place. They have an amazing selection of EVERYTHING you could need for grilling. (and things that make you wish you BBQd or tailgaited more!). Whenever I am near there, I stop by and get some apple or cherry smoker chips. (way better than the generic store ones). I live in the city and usually make it there every other month or so.

Great place, lots of stuff that is hard to find in other stores. Good selection of wood/smoking chips, tons of rubs, and lots of accessories. Worth a visit if you're looking for some new things to use at the grill and you want to go somewhere that actually has a lot of stuff. Sure, you could get some of it online, but the value of going here is that the salespeople can make recommendations based on your grill setup and personal preferences. The owner, Dan Marguerite, was very helpful in recommending certain products over others to me (e.g., a wok vs. a wire basket for cooking vegetables, a mop vs. a brush since the mop can be put in the dishwasher, etc). They also have classes and recipes which are a nice touch if you're in the area.

This shop is as good as it get's for guy shopping - everything you want related to grills and cooking meat. Bought my grill here a couple years ago - they delivered and set it up at my house. Often go back for cooking tools, meat rubs or their great classes.

I always try my best to track down the newest rubs, sauces, wood chips, chunks and newest BBQ products out in the market. And I have to say Backyard BBQ Store carries a wide selections of grilling and smoking products that are hard to find in typical stores. It doesn't matter if you are a gas or charcoal griller..it doesn't matter, they will have products that will allow you to collect Kudos from all your family and friends at your next grill out. Grill On!
