I bought two clearance items from Backdrop Outlet at the beginning of the month. I had previously made a purchase from them of  some backdrops at a Photo Expo in South San Francisco, and thought I'd peruse their website for some bargains.

I ordered two items, and about 2 days later, the status showed that one was on backorder.  How does a clearance item end up backordered? To me, that seems a bit odd.

Instead of shipping the item in stock and then sending the other one immediately, it took three weeks for them to shop both items. When they arrived, neither item had instructions to it.  I readily admit that the 7'x8' backdrop folding technique is a *me* problem (and very comedic to watch me move this rather large item around the room trying to fold it up to a little 3'x3' disc.

I have been burned by this company more than once.

First time was when I ordered a Double Sided Muslin backdrop for Halloween.  One side was Brown and the other side was a lite gray and beige.  I needed the brownside for our halloween/fall backdrop.  After it taking 2-3 weeks to get to me, I had one week to build my backdrop for Halloween.  I take it out of the package, and it looks NOTHING like the photo online.  I call the company, and they ask me to send them a photo of it.  I did just that.  They get it, and denie me a refund or free shipping to exchange it.  They will give me a store credit.  I still didnt get my replacement backdrop before halloween.

I used the credit on another backdrop that was on supposal backorder.  After pestering there company for 3+ months, the backrop finally arrive after me settling with them on a new style.

Second time was ordering there Candy Stick Backdrops(3 differnt ones),  6 week wait for one to arrive.  It came the week of Easter, when I needed it.  Suprise Suprise it was damage when it arrive (Inside the package), and not by the postal service.  I ended up refusing the other 2 backdrops, since I didnt want to chance me getting burned with no refund like last time.  It took 2 months for me to receive a refund.

I will never order from this company again.

Maybe it had something to do with their recent move from Chicago to California, but they screwed up my order time and time again.  I finally gave up trying.  First problem was I ordered a certain backdrop (among several other items and props) and when I got the background, it was not anywhere NEAR as nice a looking  background as their web listing showed.  To their credit, they took it back and gave me credit for other items, but then backstocked several of the items and finally told me those other items weren't in stock any more and would not be reordered.  So I tried AGAIN to order some ALTERNATE items with my credit.  Some of which came to me damaged or (again) different from the photo as shown in the web catalog.  The girl on the phone was very nice and apologetic every time I called, but they just couldn't keep anything in stock that I wanted, or sent the wrong items, or sent items in substandard packaging that got to me damaged.

Two items DID get to me UN-damaged, but one of them was different than the item displayed on the web site.

I might shop in the showroom floor if I ever get to Oceanside and can buy FROM the stock on hand, but hell if I'll ever order anything over the web from them again.

I would give them 1.5 stars if I could.  I'm only holding back from ONE star because the lady on the phone appeared to be trying to solve the problems, but she never followed up with me to make sure all the missing items were finally shipped.  I had to call her OVER and OVER.

I'm still owed a footstool prop that I just gave up on getting.

Went this past weekend for the "sale" which was a joke. Sale prices were more than the online prices as stated in other reviews. The outlet itself is a flashback to senior portraits from the 80s. If you need plastic props or tie die muslin head on down, but Ill never take the trip out there again.
