So my buddy CPT is in town from Boston for the later part of the week, and we needed a place to go watch his Patriots play. Game plan was to get our drink on through the frist NFL games, then hit some food truck fun for lunch, then even more drinking somewhere in Anaheim. So that means....yeah this is only a review for the beer.
I started out less than manly with my diet coke getting prepped for a day of drinking. That's cool, no one questioned of made fun. I don't like Ice when I'm Soda boy, and forgot to ask for it without, but homegirl came correct and brought it that way anyhow. It's a good thing when your server reads your mind. We then switched over to Guinness (which auto correct tells me is spelled with two n's....wow, I learned something today...wooo hooo..) Now despite the fact this is a branded an Irish Pub, I find more times than not, people simply can't pour a Guinness to save their lives. It's usually a disgusting foaming abortion when it comes out. This was certainly not one of those times. All three were expertly poured with a beautiful head and nice lacing throughout. I usually don't get excited about beer, but there is something inherently sexy about a perfect poured Guinness at 11:30 am. We hung out for a few hours had a few Guinness, and were quite pleased when we left. The customer service was excellent, and our server timed everything perfectly, down to knowing the right time to ask if we needed another round, so they could them poured and at our table before right as that last sip was taken. They also score a few extra points for coming quickly with out bill when we asked, and around so we could. A great way, and great place to start off a day Sunday of football. -

Great place to hang out with friends...grab some dinner and drinks.
Some friends were DJing here (DJ Ello and DJ Hybrid!) and I had never been, so I came to check it out. They ordered the food for us to share: fish and chips, Irish beef stew (half order), and crispy bacon and cheese tater tots. It was a lot of food...I would say this was adequate food for about 3-4 people. The fish fillets were pretty big and it wasn't too greasy. The beef in the stew was really tender with good flavor. The crispy bacon and cheese tater tots were really good too.
There aren't many English pub type places around the LA area and this place made me think of my experience studying abroad in London. I enjoyed the pub-like atmosphere. There's a small area where the DJs were set up; the dance floor wasn't big, but there were quite a few people that got on the floor to dance -

Been here a few times. Food is alright. Drinks good. But I must admit they shine best for their happy hour.
Their happy hour selections are good, reasonable, and quite tasty. Sliders, wings, and the like.
Had lunch here, and though the portions are hearty, a little pricey for what they serve. Yes their fish n chips are good, not great, they don't really shine.
Best bet is to come here for happy hour. -

An oasis of dive in the midst of sterile Irvine. Can get super packed at times but the service is good.

When my bf and I moved into our new place we got a card for $20 at Auld Dubliner. I had been to the one in Long Beach many times but only to drink and always had a great time so I was excited to check out the food at this one.
This place is a bit bigger then the LB one and the patio outside is as well. We came Friday night and it was pretty busy. There was a live band playing and it was loud as heck.
On a side note, the website listed on Yelp is for the Long Beach location so the menu is slightly different in Tustin...
For an appetizer we decided to try the bacon wrapped figs. These were pretty good, I believe there was some cheese in there too. The bacon was nice and crisp and the saltiness of it went very well with the sweet figs. If you like bacon wrapped dates these are similar however they have a different texture with all the seeds, I think I like dates better.
For our entrees we tried the Corned Beef Sandwich and the Fish & Chips.
We both really like our dishes. The sandwich was a little different from a typical Rueben. It had a delicious apple-onion relish on it that seriously made the dish. You could smother this on an old shoe and it would taste good. This added a nice sweetness that balanced out the saltiness of the corned beef and the sharpness of the horseradish. I would take this over a regular Rueben any day. These were served w/tater tots that I requested over fries. You can't go wrong with tater tots!
The fish and chips were great as well. We got the smaller order and it was more than enough food. The fish was cooked perfectly, big pieces that were nice and flaky and the batter was not too heavy or greasy. The chips were nothing special.
Overall we had a great time here! Fun atmosphere, service is great and the food isn't bad at all. This would be a great place to come back to for St. Patty's Day. -

Not gonna lie, I kinda dig this place but I'm also a sucker for Irish bars. Something about the stench of wet wood and day old alcohol in the air that gets me all goose pimply. This is place is by my work and it's my favorite watering hole. The bartenders are awesome, the atmosphere rocks, and the drinks are poured just right. The only downfall is $$, somehow the bartab gets out of control but then again I do drink like an Irish Son of a Gun! :-)

I would like to visit this place again and give it more than 3 stars. Surprisingly, they messed up on Fish N Chips - very bland even with the vinegar and tartar sauce, but a nice thick breading, which I liked. Nice happy hour of beers and appetizers; I had the corned beef sliders. Thin cut of corned beef, thick crunchy pickle slice, horseradish sauce and a toasty (very thick) mini bun. I also had the shepard's pie, which was awesome and made up for the poorly done fish n chips. Not the place for a date, as there's a lot of background noise with a loud random assortment of music. Plenty of TV for sports and big tables for bigger groups. Big interesting menu selection, so I'll have to return another time.

IHS reunion? UCI reunion? Oh, gosh...
Kind of divey. Kind of bro-ish... like this should be a Newport bar but was randomly misplaced in Irvine/ Tustin? Not a huge fan of this place but my friends always seem to find their way back here.
Wednesday before Thanksgiving - informal IHS reunion. See you there?? -

Exploring my guy's new neighborhood... looking for live bands, I found this place.
Live band
Quick service for getting our drinks
Nice attentive waitress
Loud and lively
Full enough to be busy but empty enough to find seats
Good people watching
Free parking
Free admission
I don't know what it costs because I didn't pay and I didn't try the food.
It was a decent spot for a Friday night for just drinking, while listening to a band.
I did however, witness a fight, which was taken outside pretty quickly.
I wouldn't recommend it to my girls for picking up men but I'll be back with my guy. -

More of a 3.5 rating.
The drinks were over priced and I wish they played a wider variety of music. With that said I was entertained by the crowd and had lots of fun. The majority of the people were in good spirits, laughing and getting along EXCEPT for the guy that pulled his penis out :p Don't worry though, he probably didn't remember anything in the morning. He was beyond wasted , maybe even the drunkest man In the world last night. He was quickly escorted out by staff and friends. GOOD TIMES -

My first visit was to watch a football game in their viewing room. The place was great, but the Patriot's fan club failed to show. Enjoyed the big screen regardless. The fish and chips was excellent; dare I say the best I have ever had. The breading was very light and the fish was flaky and fresh. HUGE dinner size portion that was great for sharing.
Tip: Check in when you arrive and you will receive a $5 coupon that you can use immediately. Nice perk! -

This place is cool, and when it goes off it's a serious party! They have a great selection of beer and food. I had the Lamb Sliders for lunch one time and they blew my mind. The flavor of the meat and the texture was amazing for bar food. I was very pleased to say the less. They have a wide variety of beers on tap and a full bar if you are feeling frisky! Stay gratephul people!

It's a pub and it's loud.
We were there for drinks, we had 2 beers, plus tax and tip = $15?
The menu didn't look all that so we decided not to get any food.
We probably should have gone somewhere else for the pints... oh well you learn something new every day! -

Decent selection for drinks...but the dishes are filthy. The servers never check if they are serving drinks and food on a clean dish.
For 10am Sunday football the breakfast selection seems OK. The food served are over cooked. How could you burn bacon? I'd come back to watch football and drinks but its not worth getting anything on the breakfast menu. -
Review from Pillin L.
I've been to Dubliner a handful time, for dinner and for a night out and I must say I'm a fan! Dubliner brings in a pretty diverse crowd in the night time. From your cougars to your fresh meat 21 year olds going out for their first time. I'm not a huge effionado of British/Irish pub food so maybe I can't appreciate it as much as some can, but I've always left belly happy. Their food is a-okay by my standards. Perhaps on the steeper side but I noticed that they're pretty consistent with other pubs I've been too.
On the weekends they either have a DJ or a band playing. Either or, it's always a good time. Dubliner isn't really a place you come to boogie but definitely a place you can bob your head to some good tunes and maybe even sing along when the band is covering your favorite Journey song.
I love their Irish car bombs. I get it every time I go because let's face it, when in Rome...Listed in: oc bar hopping!

A Short&Sweet Review..... Shorter than most reviews and sweeter than a quick tip.
SHORT (not so great....)
1. Happy Hour menu was almost the same price as the regular menu...just smaller portions. (e.g. regular menu - 3 sliders for $9... HH menu 1 slider for $3)
2. $5 beer during HH!?!?!? Happy what?@??@!
SWEET! (The Good....)
1. Pulled Pork Slider - like a Sloppy Joe but with pork... good stuff.
2. Parmesan and Garlic Crisps - potato chips with Parmesan and garlic...was great with my Heineken.
3. Seared Ahi tacos for $2...didn't try it...but watched my coworker scarf it down! I can definitely infer that it was good! -

Review from Andrew R.
Average! My impression of the place was that it's pretty cool. Looks like a pub, has a lot of stuff on the wall, all systems are go! That impression fluctuated up and down throughout the night.
First the food. The buffalo potatoes were interesting. Way overpriced for the handful of potatoes you get, plus it tasted like they were boiled and then fried right away or something, or freezer burned, I don't know. They were soggy, almost waterlogged inside the crispy battered shell. The buffalo sauce had a weird stomach acid taste. The beef sliders were alright. Good combination with the mustard and pickle but there's entirely too much bread, and stale bread at that, to make it good. The fries were pretty tasty though, and their ketchup had a nice homemade kick.
Second, the beer. Great! I didn't see if they had a big selection, I was locked into the 20 oz. Sam Adams Oktoberfest for $5 and with a free Sam Adams bottle opener! I stayed with this all night and it was a good choice. They have the usual beers, nothing out of the ordinary. They ran out of Hoegaarden AND Blue moon, although it was a Sunday, although Monday was a holiday. Strange. They also have a cider on tap, which is fairly rare so props for that. Everything else looked really standard. Like a normal bar, remove the American Macrobreweries, add lots of green old flair to the wall.
Finally, the atmosphere. I have to say, the waitresses were awesome and amazing. Super nice, accommodating, and attentive even while super busy. They split our check many ways, which is really nice. The feel of the place is kind of divey and homey, I liked it a lot. The outdoor patio was full of people and so was the dance floor. Not sure about the DJ spinning pop and hip hop, but I guess that goes along with the club/bar atmosphere and pseudo Irish pub. Next time I'll be back to drink, not eat. -

Garden Grove, CA
I seem to have grown a fondness for Irish fare or perhaps it's just the atmosphere that the pubs seem to have. Because of how delicious our trip to Auld Irisher was previously, Duke D. and I decided to hit up Auld Dubliner in Tustin after his long day of work and my long day of interviews.
The obvious drink was some Guinness on tap; we luckily hit Happy Hour hours so it was only $5 per, and boy, was it tasty. I mean, take a look at that delicious overflowing foam. Yum.
As for food, we weren't all too starving and remembered that when we generally get an appetizer, one entree is enough. So, we opted for their bacon-wrapped figs that came on a bed of baby spinach and with a tangy BBQ sauce for dipping. It was the second time in a week that I had had figs but I can't deny their deliciousness. We both actually liked the figs better without the sauce but the spinach added a nice, fresh bitterness to the salty and sweet of the bacon and fig, respectively. It was quite the enjoyable appetizer.
The entree was a plate of their "Bangers and Champ" which was three links of grilled Irish sausage with house-made mashed potatoes, lemony roasted asparagus spears, and toasted slices of ciabatta topped with house-made gravy. Can I say, "perfetto"? The sausages weren't spiced like I am accustomed to but very rich and flavorful still. The waitress left a jar of some good mustard on the table which I used with the bangers - fantastic. The asparagus were crisp and the right amount of lemon had been added to complement the rest of the dish, and oh my were the potatoes good. I loved it.
I normally don't get dessert and especially not after a large drink, appetizer, and entree but when the waitress was telling us what was available, my ears perked up at the sound of "Bailey's cheesecake." Yes please! It was such a heavy dessert from the Irish cream but not in the bad way. Rich and thick, we savored every bit of it. I'd come back to have another go at that dessert for sure! -
Review from Jean L.
I have been here a few times, and the crowd is always so...for the lack of another word..random.
Sometimes you'll get wannabe gangsters, sometimes you'll get old couples, and other times borderline-hipsters
I would never come if it wasn't for their Happy Hour. I made that mistake the last time, and well, my bill..ouch.
I do like their bartenders, however. They're always so enthusiastic, and well, you can tell they really like working there. -

Excellent pint of Guinness!!
Having owned my own pub in Ireland, I pride myself on the fact that we served a perfect pint so I'm very fussy when it comes to Guinness and the Auld Dubliner serve one of the better pints I have had.
Table for four:
1. Corned beef tacos - good but could have been better if the corned beef was shredded, not cubed.
2. Mussels in Guinness garlic broth - very tasty, especially when you dip the bread in the broth.
3. New potatoes in buffalo sauce with blue cheese crumbles - Very, very good, perfectly cooked bite-size spuds.
4. Spinach quesadilla - 4 large, well filled triangles - yum!
5. Arugula salad with figs - light and tasty.
Went in on a Monday night and it was fairly quiet. Having purchased a gift cert from http://restaurant.com a few months ago, we've been looking forward to checking the Auld Dubliner out.
The ambiance is typical for you're cookie-cutter style, Irish-themed pub. There are companies out there who have this look down to a fine art, and the Auld Dubliner is well represented here. They offer live music and DJs, though there was nothing on the schedule for the night we were there. The decor is interesting and they have a very cool, apothecary-style bar. The service was good and our server's personality was amusing. -

They changed the menu and it is a bit better than before. The sandwiches are decent and pretty big. Good beers. Prices are a little high outside of happy hour. Wish the happy hour went longer.

Stopped in on a Thursday night to grab a beer with an old friend. Nothing special about the atmosphere, the draft beer selection wasn't worth describing, the prices weren't anything great (although, it wasn't happy hour).
When we walked we noticed a sign announcing an 80's themed night next week. As they were blasting "Party All the Time" by Eddie Murphy, we guessed that 80's night might be a little more frequent than advertised.
A lot of people complained about the service so we were surprised by the attentive bartender. Looked like there was a band setting up for a performance, but we didn't stay long enough to find out.
I would never make a special trip to this bar, but next time I get stuck in The District's fantastic gridlocked parking lot I may grab a pint. -

The best pub trivia in Orange County! I look forward to Wednesdays because of it. 5 stars for the trivia!
However, the service is spotty, the food is good (by pub standards), and the other patrons are a bit rowdy. Not your traditional Irish pub. We once had a server add 18% gratuity to our bill for a four person table - super shady. 3.5 stars for the pub as a whole. The trivia is the best thing about it. -

I was at the Tustin location on Saturday and sadly to say, two fights broke out!
They do not have enough bouncers or they are not trained properly as chaos broke out. Unfortunately, I was in harms way & the 2 big guys that were physically punching each other came near me & threw me down along with the table & drinks!
My leg was pinned under one of them & no one came to help!!! By time the Sheriffs came , they took off and I had to wait at least 45 minutes to get management!
The general manager stated "that is to be expected in this type of establishment." He did not ask if I was injured or if I need the paramedics. I kept asking for an accident report & his business card & would not give me either. I am bruised all over my left side & went to see my physician, I called Dan,the General Manager at 4 :25 pm today requesting for the accident report & to my dismay, have not seen it yet faxed! Please contact me Corporate Office as you have no known number on your website. This matter needs to be addressed before I get a personal injury attorney!

Two years ago, I would have recommended all my friends to eat here. However, coming back has made me change my mind. I came in early evening for a small snack and drink. Oh boy, my snack was twice the cost of a beer and it wasn't even worth it!
I used to come here often for their large appetizer plate - Spicy Potatoes smothered in buffalo sauce, crumbled bleu cheese and served with a side of ranch & vegetables. NOPE, not this time around. They have definitely downgraded in portions and presentation. A complete turn off and disappointment.
Our plate looked like it was freshly made, a good thing, but there was a puddle of water collecting on the bottom, BAD thing. The sauce was watered down, not as I remembered from a few years back. The bleu cheese was no longer crumbled atop, but thrown into the ranch sauce. The celery and carrots were wet, as if they were rinsed but not patted/shaken dry. What was in front of us was a bland, watery mess.
The silver lining? Service is still superb. However, our bill for a Guiness ($7) and Spicy Potatoes ($13) was a waste of filled space in our tummy. -

One of the best places to watch some European soccer. And the Blackened Chicken Club Sandwich is a masterpiece. Barkeeps are friendly and cool.
Besides the sandwich, quality of the food is average. The crowd is decent and can get packed. The locale can be a pain, as it is a shopping center. And alcohol selection is ok, I mean, it is an Irish pub.

Irvine, CA
You know, I'm unfamiliar with Irish food. I just thought Irish people ate corned beef and potatoes and drank a bunch of beer. I guess curry, salads and some Asian inspired dishes show up in Irish fare as well.
Atmosphere feels like an upscale bar with dark woods encompassing most of the restaurant. It's designed to look this way. Large open space allows for easy access into and out of the restaurant with a large bar area, which gets packed during live music nights or just your usual Friday and Saturday nights.
Food is blah.
Service is friendly and standard. I do appreciate the service being prompt and the place allowing beer pong tournaments and live shows.
Though I don't care for the food, I do care that this place is a fun time when I come here. -

The atmosphere was ok. Our server was distant and mildly attentive. Our drinks came quickly after we ordered. The food came out after 15 -20 mins. The food was ok, nothing too special.
The cover band was ok, but they could have been better.
All in All, a decent experience. I don't know if I would come back again. -

This is a decent place with a non-douchey crowd, so it automatically scores an extra star in my book. I'm not sure how the food is, but the drinks were good and bartenders were on top of things...
And hell, now that I think of it, the bouncers were as well. They kicked a few drunk creepers out without hesitation.
The place is decent for the area (because we all know how much this part of the city needs it).
As for my next visit, I think I'll prefer a late lunch over a late night here. -

Here is all you need to know:
- this is a Disney-like Irish bar in the middle of a giant retail center
- the food is nothing special
- they do pour a great Guinness
There are only a few authentic Irish bars in all of southern California, and this is not one of them. If, however, you are looking for a good pour of Guinness and can't make it to St. James Gate, this is a great place for that. I think it is hilarious that when you order the "chips", the waitress feels compelled to remind you they are really french fries. -

This used to be one of our favorite watering holes/happy hour stops.
All along the service could be hit or miss depending on the server, but we still enjoyed each visit.
Most recently it has been more miss than hit in regards to the service.
For example, not bringing silverware or condiments with meals, or us having to ask for water three or more times. Same for our request for an extra plate, or extra napkins, etc..
On one occasion my wife asked our server what the name of the house Merlot she was drinking was. You would have thought she asked her to do algebraic equation and show her work.
She was like "I have no idea" and walked off. I do have to admit, she did eventually come by with the name of the wine, but only after she saw a couple of the 'excellent" servers stopping by our table to say "hi" and chat.
And there are plenty of servers on the floor, so it is ridiculous at the inattention that goes on. But then when we get one of the good servers, they are awesome. We still witness other diners getting bad service.
Anyhow, one of the positives was they had an extended happy hour which included Saturdays and Sundays.
But NOT anymore.
On our most recent visit, we were informed that they no longer honored happy hour on Saturdays or Sundays.
We told our server their website still indicates their weekend happy hour, which she simply replied, "well we don't have it anymore" and "it has been a few months."
All the more egregious!
We do usually come on weekdays, but to have your website stating a happy hour when there is not one, at least an apology is in order.
Another couple inquired about the Saturday happy hour and received the same communication.
But it gets worse.
Especially for us regulars.
We were informed our favorite crisps (homemade potato chips) with truffle oil and goat cheese were off the menu.
In fact all of the previous crisps offered were dropped with the exception of parmesan cheese with garlic and the curry, and the price increased 175%.
175% price increase!
They're potato chips.
Also off the menu is the sheperd's pie, and a number of other favorites.
Our server indicated many customers were very disappointed.
Being semi-regulars, we KNOW how popular the crisps with the truffle oil and goat cheese were.
Then when we ordered our the cheese burger with avocado which was one of our regular happy hour choices, we notice the price increase a few dollars... and... now you are limited to french fries or simple greens as a side dish, no more soup as a choice.
If we wanted to add soup, we'd have to pay full price for a bowl of soup!
We are in a SERIOUS recession, and these are the choices the executives at The Auld Dubliner have taken to turn more profits.
Well, I think we'll take our $2,000+ per year we spend there someplace else.
:-(

I maintain that Irish food is not actual food, and that is why the Irish drink so much. And I am not a big beer drinker. So coming here is an exercise in futility for me, and I only do so when I am meeting friends (...or...needing to exercise my futility) and we can't get a table at Ra.
Happy hour is reasonably lively here, although their music is cranked up pretty loud. There are some deep-fried chips (crisps?) that are pretty good, and they surprisingly have sangria for cool kids like me. No complaints about the service, but this place is good for people-watching ("Wow...she's going to get cold very soon"). -

Do not go here to eat on St. Patty 's day! Seriously... go elsewhere and come back here to knock a few back to celebrate. We waited in line after I got off work late. Stood outside for 20-30minutes...lucky the line kept moving though. I was starving but they had a condensed menu for the night and I thought they still had tables and seats but they took them all out to allow for standing room only. So you had to eat holding your plate or if you're lucky get a space by a ledge. It was so packed and crowded but the people were pretty cool and fun. People were dressed up and some loud drunks but it was silly funny and not obnoxious.
I ordered the corn beef tacos and fish and chips. The corn beef tacos were just ok. Nothing special about them. I ordered those because it was easiest to eat standing up. The fish and chips were also ok but the fish was a little on the greasy side for me. I didn't finish either plates. Still had a good time...good environment...some times the music was good and some times we were like... what's up with this music? haha... Still the people were pretty cool and we had an awesome waitress!!! I'm giving this place the 3rd star just for her alone and her service! She would swing by to check on us and did a great job with our orders splitting up our bill on our separate checks! She was super friendly and helpful when we asked questions.
If I go out to celebrate next year...I'd definitely start off elsewhere and hit up this place afterwards. Not a place to eat. The place would get packed in waves at a time through the night so you definitely wouldn't miss out on too much swinging by at a later time. -

Beer. Two great ones on tap Boddingtons Ale and Range IPA.
Also try the pulled pork or lamb sliders during happy hour. This Irish pub has become our local happy hour stop.
Can't say too much about the staff though ... Not sure what to make of them. In general, they don't seem thrilled to be there.
