The Atlantic Hotel is the BEST place to stay in Fort Lauderdale, hands down.  It is right on A1A on the beach, and has a pool on the 6th floor overlooking the entire oceanfront.  It is just a few miles up from Las Olas (the party/bar street), has great food, the staff is unbelievable, the rooms are out of this world, and the weather is always sunny!

HOTEL:  This is seriously top notch.  The best part of this is that you get an entire condo for the price of a hotel room... meaning full kitchen, huge bathroom with a tub and shower, an outdoor patio, a seating area, etc.  If you are looking to save money, just run to the grocery store around the corner and stock your fridge with your own wine, beer, and munchies for the beach and cocktails.  All of the decor was dark chocolate wood.  Very spacious (as in bigger than my one bedroom apartment in Chicago)

SERVICE:  My boyfriend and I went here for New Years last year, and came back in July... they knew all of our preferences!  Had champagne in the room, reservations at the two restaurants off site we really loved, and taxis pre-ordered.  They also delivered to our room new towels daily, cleaned, ironed my boyfriends shirts (awesome!) and have a 24 hour room service menu that has lotsof really delicious options.  They have a free fitness center, yoga and pilates classes in the morning, spa services, nail and hair salon, and couples massages in your room!

FOOD:  Trina is the restaurant attached to the hotel and it is amazing!!  http://www.trinarestau...  Monday -Thursday they have $5 happy hour 4-7pm.  This is any drink... any martini, house pour wine, or bottled beer.  The seafood at this place was incredible.  You sit outside on the oceanside, soft music, a little breeze... it is fabulous.  We ordered: Blue Crab Cake with mango, tomato, and corn relish (huge, and wonderful), Lobster and Scallop risotto with truffle, asparagus, and blood orange sauce which literally melted in your mouth it was so delicious, Over Roasted Sea Bass with capers, olives, cherry tomatoes and raisins that was perfectly cooked.  The server paired our two dishes with a Chilean white wine (similar to a Savingon Blanc).  The waitstaff is accommodating (Im allergic to nuts so they made some things without them and were very diligent), quick, and very polite.

This is a must stay hotel.  It is worth the money.  Also - when booking always book online as it is cheaper than booking by calling the hotel directly.

Happy seafood eating, beaching, sunning, and relaxing in lovely Fort Lauderdale! :)

My future Uncle in-law owns a condo in this hotel and was nice enough to let us stay here for a weekend. This is one of the, if not the, nicest hotels I've ever had the oppurtunity to stay at.

The decor is incredibly modern with a very contemporary lobby. It always smells like oranges here and is always incredibly cool. The staff, especially the valet people, are overly nice.

Our room features two bedrooms, two monster sized bathrooms, and a full kitchen. The bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. In addition, the blinds hold the light out superbly. I can sleep untill 2 in the afternoon every day.

The bathroom is also crucial as it has a nice whirlpool soaking tub and separate walk-in shower. The shower is massive and could probably fit 5 people comfortably.

The balcony spans the whole length of the unit (about 25 feet) and has comfortable furniture and an amazing view of the atlantic ocean.  There is also a really nice pool on the fifth floor along with a full blown spa. Ahhh the tranquility.

Gorgeous newer building on the beach. Incredible view - that would be the ocean. The room we had was quite nice. Fully stocked kitchen (plates, silverware, mugs, wine glasses, etc.), nice sized living room, good size balcony, large comfortable bedroom and great bathroom. Nicely decorated - simplistic modern I suppose - neutrals, not overdone.

The staff were very sweet, professional, and helpful. But we didn't really need them cuz we spent most of our time away from the hotel. It's a bit down but walking a few blocks rarely kills someone. We liked it wasn't smack dab in the middle of all the craziness.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Atlantic. The room's amenities are numerous and the staff were very attentive. It was great having a kitchenette in the room, but I have to complain that they only provided decaf coffee grinds and I had to ask, every goddamn morning, for regular coffee to be delivered. Coffee is the medicine that keeps Ricky Rage at bay. On the plus side, it took them less than a few minutes to get the coffee to me so nobody got shanked or anything.

If you go to the restaurant get the Moroccan Lamb flatbread. DO NOT QUESTION THIS ADVICE, GET THE GODDAMN FLATBREAD! It will change your life. I also had a grilled N.Y. strip steak that was expertly prepared, although it came with Provencal vegetable tart that tasted like it was soaked in red wine vinegar. My only critique of the restaurant is they offer too many "things" in one dish. My steak came with: leek & bacon potato puree, mushroom ragout, and a Provencal vegetable tart. They could remove one or two sides from every plate and still have a thoroughly delicious meal.

I had a massage at the spa that was well executed but lacked some finesse. The atmosphere there was pleasant and the facilities were very clean. I left satisfied but not amazed.

All in all this is a very nice hotel. They executed all requests quickly and were very attentive. Sometimes the staff at Starwood Luxury Collection hotels can be robotic, but the drones here retained some of their personalities after assimilation. All in all I would definitely go back.

The Atlantic is a Starwood Luxury Collection property - one of soon to be many Starwood hotels in Fort Lauderdale.  While the hotel was very nice, I'm not sure it's on par with other Luxury Collection properties they offer.

The vibe in the lobby is a very modern, hip vibe - sort of a South Florida version of W hotels.  The rooms are very nice - they are billed as condominiums so they have a small kitchen - with real pots/pans, nice glassware, etc.  There is a cooktop, microwave, and mini-fridge.  All with nice granite counters.  The bathrooms are also very nice - with a decent sized shower and separate soaking tub.  Our room was facing the ocean and had a balcony where we would sit and have our in-room provided Starbucks in the morning.  The beds were tastefully dressed and were incredibly comfortable.

The spa was very nice - we both got treatments and thought that the surroundings lived up to our expectations.  My only gripe would be that it was absolutely freezing everywhere in there - and when you're running around in a robe, that's not a good thing.  Even while getting a massage, I was grateful for the heated bed, and shocked by the freeze every time my masseuse would expose a leg/arm to do that area.

We did not eat at the restaurant, but did have a nighcap at the bar our first night.  Our bartender was very nice and we had a nice conversation with him about tequilas.  (though at that point in the evening, who knows how much sense we made LOL)

The Valet was always prompt brining our car, which was nice.  And they didn't nickel and dime us when we asked for more coffee paks to be sent to our room.   But for a luxury collection hotel, there were some hiccups with the service.  When I told the front desk that we needed a burned out lightbulb in the bathroom changed, and that I needed a new hairdryer sent up as well since the one provided would overheat before I got very far, it never got done.  You'd think that if the front desk didn't relay the info, that at least the maid would notice the light was out - but, no.  And I had to call down to get someone to bring me the hair dryer.  The bulb never got changed, which meant I did my makeup in the bedroom area since it was so dim in the bathroom.

We called down to see what time the pool restaurant opened, and we were told 10am.  since it was 9:30, we thought we'd wait and then go down, instead of ordering room service.  (We didn't want to eat at Trina because hubby wanted to sit outside, but not so close to the road.)  We went down at 10, only to be told that they didn't open until 11, but that we could order room service and have it sent to the pool.  So that's what we did - and then waited an hour for it.  (after we were told it should only be 30 minutes.)  When it finally DID arrive, it was cold, as if it had been sitting for the additional 30 minutes waiting to be delivered.

Overall, the hotel was nice, but the service issues don't put it in the luxury category, yet.

While I didn't have the opportunity to take advantage of the amenities, I was very happy with the room and the friendly service.

I thought the hotel was very nice.  Modern while still maintaining the on the beach feel.

The service was so friendly, I could have been staying a boutique hotel - not a large Starwood property.

I would recommend the hotel and location to anyone.  I'm hoping to try a few more places in the Luxury Collection soon!
