This is a no-brainer for those that live in the Atlantic Station area. Plenty of equipment for the volume of people that are usually in there, and tons of cardio equipment that looks out over the pool/courtyard area. Decor is great - especially in the well-appointed locker rooms. The people working there and working out there are very nice. It takes away a bit of the meat market feel to have the crowd composed primarily of residents.
The only drawbacks at all are for bigger/stronger people. There is no place to squat with free weights (although I'm thinking you might be able to get away with deadlifting during certain times of the day), and there are only 18 45's in the gym from my count. Obviously an issue if you start loading up the leg press or if you had a couple of strong guys benching, rowing, etc. at the same time. Due to these issues, I will eventually get a membership at another gym as well. I will keep my membership here as $5 a month is stupid to turn down for the convenience. -

I never thought I ever say that I loved a gym, but I love MY gym.
It's so pretty and soothing to walk into, just like walking into a spa. All the staff are so nice and know you by name. The amenities are great: steam room, sauna, showers, you name it. I know it's silly, but those individually packaged make-up remover wipes are so helpful, too! Each locker room has a lounge area, and there's two huge seated areas in the lobby.
The equipment is all brand new, with tons of weight machines, free weights, and cardio. There are plenty of tvs to plug into if you want. There are also two suites for classes. They offer hip hop, pilates, yoga, spin, and more.
Membership prices are comparable to others in Midtown, but membership is only available to owners/residents of Lane Co. properties in Atlantic Station. -

I held a membership at the Art of Wellness for 5 months and finally decided to end my membership due to the lack of privacy, inconvenient hours of operation and unprofessional staff. Initially, the staff is very friendly when you are signing up, but that stops as soon as they have your money. The staff is quite rude and very unaccommodating even for small requests (e.g. requests for towels, refilling the disinfecting wipes, water, etc.). I also found the personal trainers who use the gym to be a bit intrusive because they are always trying to recruit new customers and are somewhat pushy. I constantly felt like I couldn't workout in peace without being interrupted by someone trying to get me to join their workout plan. For the amount of money you pay, you could get a membership at a 24 hour gym with way more amenities and not have to deal with the inconvenient hours of operation and unprofessional staff. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 for the nice decor and the classes that they occasionally offer, which are nice.

You know what, The AOW is a pretty darn good gym. There is a good stack of towels waiting you. The machines are usually line free. And the weight lifting equipment barely has a line either. Also the wet-towel dispensers are usually stocked and most of the patrons partake in cleaning up the machiens they just finished using. All of the equipment is in pretty good shape and fix up time is about one week from what I witnessed on the elliptical machines. There is even a punching bag in the exercise room. All in all for the low price, this is a good gym. Now if only they could install a proper swimming pool somewhere...
