Bay Area
Naeema is an excellent massage therapist. I booked a 90 min with her and she was able to find all the airplane and work stiffness in my neck and shoulders and worked it all out. When I was checking out, she showed me a simple stretch to do anywhere to help my shoulder and upper back muscles. My friend had a 90 minute with Andrea and loved her as well.
The location for this place is amazing and very unique. It's a restored old mansion in midtown Atlanta and the treatment rooms are huge, expansive, comfortable. I've never been to a place like this before. There is local art on the walls and the staff there is amazing.
If I lived in Atlanta I would frequent this place and Naeema would be my go-to therapist. -
Review from Angela M.
At my first elite event, in May of 2008 at the High Museum, Art of Touch was there giving wonderful chair massages. I'd always meant to get a massage from them, but the voices in my head instilled by my slightly Puritanical and very frugal mother said not to get a massage, let alone spend this kind of money on a massage. So for years, I've just gotten the deals through the coupon sites.
J told me many times that he wanted a couples massage for Christmas, and I immediately thought of Art of Touch. I called and got a 10am appointment for the pair of us, no problems. The couples price is the same as 2 of the regular price.
Not only did we get a confirmation email upon booking, we also got one the day before. We showed up around 9:50 for our 10am. We parked in the back, where the spots are marked for Art of Touch. Walking in to the office building, a receptionist came out from their office to have us register the car and fill out new patient forms. She also gave us water cups.
Soon our therapists were there to walk us upstairs to the couples massage room. Each therapist talked to us individiually to understand what we needed work on. I've never had a couples massage, so I'm not sure what it should be, but it seemed to me that it would have been pretty much the same if we'd just been in separate rooms. Particularly since I was getting over a cough, and ended up having to ask Germaine several times for water and tissues. She was very helpful and understanding of the situation. When I talked to J afterwards, he said he was concerned, but that he almost didn't notice because of his own massage.
When it was over, she explained that my back was completely tense, completely blocked. She gave me 15% off a follow up session since my cough prevented me "from being open to the work" that she needed to do. I will definitely be scheduling my follow up visit for just after the holiday, once my cough is completely gone.

Laureen rocks!
I went back to her about 3 weeks ago to help work out a rib injury. I strained/tore a bunch of muscles in my chest wall. After being in pain for nearly 5 weeks, I figured a massage couldn't make me hurt any more than I already did. I expained the problem and she spent pretty much the entire hour working out my entire left side. I had problems from muscles in my hips all the way up under my diaphragm and she took care of it ALL. She also explained how I could work it out if I needed to. She also made recommendations for stretches and things I could do to keep the muscles loose. I walked out of there pain free for the first time in weeks. I caught a cold and ended up aggrivating the injury again because of coughing. I'm going back to see Laureen on Sunday to help work things out again. I'll never see anyone else for a massage again.Listed in: Looking Fab

I will start this review with one word... AWESOME!!
I took my girlfriend here on her birthday. When I decided that I wanted to do a couples massage for her birthday I first considered going to a nice massage spot with a nice atmosphere from the outside in. However, I decided that it would be more important to have a quality massage especially considering some of the lower back issues she has. When you walk in this place that looks like a house, the first thing you are asked to do is sign in and fill out a questionnaire form which enables your therapist to personalize your massage. I didn't have any issues that I wanted addressed like back pain but I appreciated that they still asked us what we wanted done. This wasnt the first time we had experienced a couples massage together. The first time was at spa sydel. After the completion of our massages we both agreed that The Art of Touch was much better and that there was no comparison.. I walked out and immediately started recommending this place to friends.. We will be returning in the future. -

I would actually give Art of Touch a 4.5, but since the experience was more positive than anything, a 5 it is.
I booked a couples' massage with the BF. He had Grace(?) as his therapist and I had Mary. Mary asked questions about what areas I wanted her to focus on and she said she would concentrate on all those areas as well as give me a full body massage. OK, fine by me!
I had a few really stubborn knots in my back and Mary worked hard on them, I know she did. However, she did not get rid of them and that's where my slight deduction comes in. I kind of felt like she gave up at some point, though I assume it's because the clock was ticking and she had to move on to other parts of my body. Even though my neck was not an area I had asked for treatment, she massaged it really well and it felt awesome.
The BF had commented that Grace's massage was not hard enough and I'd asked him if Grace had asked what type of massage he had wanted (Swedish, deep tissue, etc.) since Mary had asked me (for the record, I prefer a deep tissue massage and the intensity/pressure was definitely good). He said no, she had not asked and therefore the massage was not intense enough for him. He should have said something, but I am surprised that she didn't ask which type, either. He also commented that she spent a great deal of time on his shoulders and neck and therefore did not touch his arms or much of his legs at all.
I definitely love that there is one set price so if you want a more intense massage, there's no upcharge. We received some postcards in the mail for $10 off our next 60 or 90 minute massage, so I will be back! -

I was introduced to massage over 15 years ago and have received some amazing and not so amazing massages. Anne, at The Art of Touch, literally has the art of touch. She, by far, is the most amazing massage therapist I have ever experienced. They have done a beautiful job with the therapy rooms. They are the most relaxing, warm, and quiet rooms of any spa or massage treatment facility I have ever been to. The price is right, the massages are the best, and the atmosphere is warm and relaxing. The Art of Touch far exceeds any spa I have ever been to for a massage...including the Ritz Carlton spas. I am a customer for life!

Review from Nidhi B.
New York, NY
I've been so bad about writing Yelp reviews lately, but this place was earth-shattering. Really. Mountains crumbled, stars fell, the whole nine yards.
Just before I was due to visit my sister in Atlanta, I did something horrible to my back. All of a sudden, I couldn't move my right shoulder, my right arm felt terribly heavy, and the area just inside my right shoulder blade was killing me. It was so bad I was considering cancelling my flight - it would have been kind of hard to handle my 14-month-old nephew with a single working arm, especially after an emergency shiatsu massage in NYC on the same day my back fell apart did nothing to help. After reading Yelp reviews on this place, though, I decided to tough it out and visit first thing upon my arrival in ATL.
This was NOT a fall-asleep-on-the-table kind of massage. I'm sure these people are equally good at the rest and relaxation kind of stuff, but you'd be wasting them if that was all you asked for - they will HEAL YOU. (Do I sound like an evangelist yet?) I now know, because of Laureen (whom I hugged after my first session because it was so miraculous) that I'd messed up my right rhomboid and erector muscles. Though a combination of rubbing and stretching that I wouldn't have been able to do on my own, she released all the muscles that were freaking out; my back felt like it had been bathed in Tiger Balm after my hour with her. As I was checking out, I'm pretty sure I was squealing like a little girl because I kept on discovering things I could do that didn't hurt anymore (like shrugging my shoulders... ack).
She warned me that the rest of my back needed some releasing too, but she hadn't been able to get to it as deeply as she'd wanted so I'd feel some tension later, and lo and behold, she was right - when one section of your back messes up, it spreads to the rest and while that one section will need more attention, you need to give some TLC to the whole thing. So I went back for another hour two days later and after my second session, I was as good as new. Better, in fact, because while she was fixing my back, she was simultaneously shaming me (in the nicest way possible!) into doing neck stretches at my desk at work to avoid future problems. She actually did the stretches on me and I could FEEL how they were releasing the muscles that had been freaking out. I'm now able to solve aches and pains at my desk by obeying her :)
This massage will hurt, but only a bit, and you'll feel a million times better afterwards. It's a very active, participatory massage though - you have to talk throughout to your therapist to get the full benefits. Laureen know a ton about anatomy and how the different muscles are all interconnected, and I'm betting the other therapists are just as knowledgeable, so use them!
The two hours with Laureen were a huge expenditure for me - I normally treat myself to about one massage a year - but after the first, I thought nothing of getting another because I could feel how effective it was. I'll stint on other things to make up for it, and gladly, because this wasn't a luxury, it was a necessity for my health, and you can tell that right away when they're working on you.
I'm getting certificates here as gifts for my sister and bro-in-law who live in Atlanta, and I'll definitely be back when I visit again. Thank you, Art of Touch, for allowing me to chase after my nephew again! -
Review from Kate N.
One of the best massages I've had in a very long time.
Did a 2 hour Deep Tissue with attention to my shoulders. Too much pressure on my glutes since I never exercise to work out my muscles. But I didn't want to tell her to go easy because I needed all the pressures on my shoulders.
Will definitely come back if I'm ever in ATL again! -

WOW. One of the best massages I have ever had, and I have had plenty. Got a gift certificate here from friends for a 75 minute massage. Called in and got an appointment with Elizabeth for that weekend.
The environment is super cozy - a house has been remodeled into a comfy collection of private rooms. Talked with Elizabeth beforehand about what I was expecting out of the massage, and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I told her about my back and neck tension from my office job, and told her I liked a good full-body deep-tissue massage. She told me she could be heavy handed, so to let her know if the pressure was too much. Girl was not joking - she is STRONG! Still very relaxing though. Worked out all the kinks and I felt amaaaazing afterwards.
The post-massage brochure they give you recommends you return every other week... wouldn't that be nice? Unfortunately I can't afford to make it back that often, but I am definitely looking forward to my next chance to get back in there to see Elizabeth. -

I work in Midtown and their location could not be more convenient. Art of Touch is a quiet retreat in the middle of Midtown with free parking in the back. Just make sure to sign in your car when you arrive.
Making an appointment was a breeze, they had the exact time slot I requested the very next day. Staff is friendly and helpful, the place is clean and charming, and my therapist was fantastic. I usually get a massage once a month and I've been to a lot of places, but the quality of the massage itself was the best I've ever had. I already have my second appointment scheduled. -

Go to this place and keep going back! The location in Midtown on 14th St is perfect. An historic house that's a quiet oasis in the middle of a bustling metro area. Very well run, easy to make appointments, friendly staff and no attitude.
Janelle is an amazing therapist with a healing touch and spirit. The rooms are a mixture of charming old furniture and artwork. No sterile spa environment here.
All around best massage experience for the busy, stressed, injured. -

This place is soooo cute!!! The spa is inside of a historic house...very cozy! They are priced reasonably and the therapists really know what they are doing. I had Ann for my therapist. My sister had Sarah. We did a couples massage and my sister snored twice! lol
I would go back to Ann in a minute she really focused on the areas that I mentioned were a problem. This will be one of my favorite places I see. -

I have nothing to nit pick about. This place is great. Great massage, great therapists, great ambiance, great location. Just great! Had a couples massage with Hubs a few weeks back, and they sent us both $10 off coupons. We will be using them next week!

I was so disappointed to hear that Float Spa in the Highlands had closed their doors.... I begin the search for a great independent spa for my me time ritual. I came across several raving reviews of Art of Touch and decided to give them a try...
The experience was amazing from beginning to end. There is parking behind the building so no hassling with Piedmont Park/Midtown street parking. The calming scent of mint hits you the minute you open the door. Its the perfect way to relax before relaxing. I had a 60 min Swedish session w/Jenelle. She was great making sure I was ok with the pressure and did a real number on the stubborn knots in my shoulders.
I will definitely be back. I think I may just make Art Of Touch a monthly gift to my muscles! Do yourself a favor and schedule some time with them. -

I've been going to Art of Touch for quite some time. I remember my first visit and with each visit thereafter, I've always received the best service. The quality of the massage is far better than those given at spas. What I like best is that the therapists really listen to you and try to understand what ailments you are having to focus on during the appointment. Then after the appointment, they offer tips on stretches and taking care of yourself at home. I can't say that just one therapist is the best. They are all great and highly recommend a try for those that want a true, serious massage!

Janelle gave me an awesome deep tissue massage. She is so petite and sweet, don't let her size fool you and her hands are strong and gets into all your problem areas as I am struggling w/pain in my lower back. We talked the entire time and I can't wait to see her again!

The woman I've relied on for years to heal what ails my aging muscles recently went AWOL, and the wrench someone jammed in my neck while I slept didn't care. It wanted to be removed.
I tweeted for reccos and received two, neither of whom could see me on short notice (my issue, not theirs).
Enter Yelp, enter glowing five star my muscles will never be the same recommendations for Art of Touch.
I read, I called, I went, and I was healed.
I've had massages several times a year for the last ten years (let's call it 60 massages, give or take) and only *one* even came close to what I got at The Art of Touch. Came close, but didn't meet or exceed.
This was the best massage I've ever had.
This was a massage by a woman who knew her craft, knew how much pressure to use, knew where to use it and knew when enough was enough. This was a massage by a woman who understands the art of fluid transition and understands the value of ensuring the client is comfortable (I mentioned my head gets stuffy from being face down and she bonused me out with extra eucalyptus. No stuffy!).
Not only was she SKILLED, she had a charming, bubbly personality and was flat out adorable.
The building housing the business is a quiant unassuming multi-family house near the 14th Street gate to Piedmont Park, complete with a private lot in the back (woo for not struggling to find parking!). The prices were beyond competitive - especially compared to subpar and overpriced competitors like Spa Sydell.
I'll be going back to The Art of Touch and seeing Janelle Simmons again and again and again and again...provided I haven't ruined it for myself by telling you how incredible she is. -

This was my first time getting a professional massage. I chose to do the couples massage package on Valentine's Day. It was GREAT! So far, I've been back every Valentine's Day or birthday. They have yet to fail me. I tried going to Spa Sydell and it was HORRIBLE! Unlike The Art of Touch, Spa Sydell was loud, I felt as though they were laughing(maybe not at me but at the convo they were trying to have), and the massage SUCKED.
The Art of Touch is wonderful! The massage is GREAT! The service is EXCELLENT! The staff are very respectful and the BEST!
***I just wanted to come back in and make a comment. After trying out more spas... this is still the best place I've been. -

I'm pretty sure my pancreas was well massaged during my hour-long session at Art of Touch.
I received a Christmas gift certificate from the best boss in the world and after a long and strenuous move, a sickness that caused me to seriously stress out, and hunching over my laptop for days on end, I decided it was time to give them a call. Amy answered the phone and told me I could come in THAT NIGHT. Talk about instant gratification!
I strolled over to the lovely little house: go in the main front door and make your way around to the right. As Amy finished up with her last client, I filled out the typical new patient card and got ready to let it all go. Amy asked if I'd prefer a full-body massage or just a focus on the torso, and since the pain in my neck/shoulders had gotten really bad the day prior, I decided to focus where it hurt. Once I settled in on the perfectly heated bed (seriously, how can I get one of these in my house?) Amy got to work. And mannnn, did she work. Don't let her soft spokenness or small stature fool you, this woman's got hands of steel. Her ability to find a knot and really push it out was amazing, albeit painful. This was, by definition, a true deep tissue massage. And oh, it hurt so good.
Art of Touch offers package deals for those of you who may want to become more regular clients... which I guarantee you will. Although my current budget doesn't provide for it, once I pay off these moving expenses and get my apartment in better shape, you'll likely find me in post-massage bliss a lot more often.Listed in: Sinful.

I'm not much of a massage type of person, but I threw my back out over 3 weeks ago something fierce. It just wouldn't go away, worst ever. Didn't even know how I did it (this is what happens with age). With my wife threatening acupuncture treatment, I picked up the phone and called in the massage help.
Sara N. did a great job, this was a very deep massage, I was as stiff as a board. She earned her money for sure. After a few days of soreness, my back is back to normal, and I'm planning a follow up visit in a few weeks. She saved me from the Korean torture chamber of needles.
Highly recommend! -

The Art of touch is hands down the best massage place in Atlanta!
I have insomnia, so when day 6 or 7 rolls around with no sleep I make an appointment and by the 20th min of my 90 min massage I am out like a light. Thankfully I am always close to a bed when I leave.
Unlike most time stealing/watching masseuses these ladies (possibly gentlemen) start time when they start rubbing. I've had the Swedish and Sports massages, none of them required the over use of elbows. All of the staff is friendly and helpful and if you haven't been back in a while they send you emails and discounts in the mail.
Things To Know
1. Student discount!
2. The building is a little hard to find, it's a little brown house right across the street from the large condos before you reach the park. The signage is hard to see.
3. They use a answering service so if you are late, need to change an appointment or get lost you won't be speaking to someone in the building. -

Midtown, Atlanta, GA
Relatively new massage center, set in a beautifully renovated house in Midtown on 14th Street between Colony Square and Piedmont Park. Plenty of parking is available behind the house.
When we arrived the massage therapists were already waiting for us in the reception area. My therapy room was just what I was expecting: calm, quiet, and dark. Shannon was very attentive to my preferences, inquiring and turning off the table warmer before I had to ask. I got a very good hour-long Swedish Massage, which thoroughly melted away the 17 hours on a plane I had endured a few days before.
I fully recommend this place -- Shannon (the owner) and the rest of her staff do a great job, and the setting is a welcome change from places that can't make up their mind if they are a massage center, a salon, or a day spa. They do massage here, and they do it very well. -
Review from Allison Z.

The Art of Touch was one of the best massages I've ever had! I tried them out for the first time on Tuesday, after running a 5K the Saturday before. I had alot of tension in the back of my legs, plus tension in my upper back from sitting at a desk all day. My therapist, Sarah, worked everything out. Normally a massage is a super relaxing but not super effective way of working out my normal "kinks," and the muscles tighten right back up again a few days later. I'm happy to report that it's now Friday and I am still loose from Sarah's massage.
I reccomend this place to anyone that wants to feel better after a sporting event, or anyone who just wants to have their muscles opened with a lasting effect. Great place! -

After completing a 2-year long web application project, I had some serious demons living in my neck/shoulder/back area. It was so bad that I was bringing my heating pad to work and wearing it in meetings. I called Art of Touch and talked to Lani.
After discussing my issues, we booked a Corporate Massage session, which is basically a deep tissue massage that focuses on "corporate" areas. What a wonderful little place! It's like going to someone's house for a massage. So warm and cozy. The massage itself was amazing. She was able to relieve two year's worth of kinks, stress, aches and pain in one session. Thanks for the reviews, everybody!!!! -

I have had massage several times before, but this would be my first time in Atlanta-- after a two year hiatus! After reading many many reviews, The Art of Touch seemed like a safe bet, and I think it was!
Yes, it is in a house which is shared with other businesses, but since I had my appointment on a Sunday, I didn't notice any sounds outside.
The room was very spacious, and had an adorable fire place and candles lit and the room and bed was heated. My masseuse, Jannelle, was amazing! A small girl, but super strong hands, very professional and very calming. She worked on some stress balls I had, but knew when to move on.
Yes, it is $75 for an hour, but I think it was money very well spent and I will definitely be back. Especially since I can top it off with a relaxing spaced-out walk through Piedmont Park!Listed in: Necessities of a City Newbie

This was my first professional massage ever so I can't give you a breakdown of everything in comparison to other shops. I agree that the heated bed is a great touch to make you feel more comfortable and relaxed in an otherwise tense situation. I mean you're naked, under the covers at least, in front of a complete stranger!
Location is prime if you live or work in Midtown.
I got this as a birthday present and I really enjoyed the full body massage. He knew I needed a little destresser after all the hey wire neighbor interactions I'd had around this time. Only complaint was my fault, since it was the first time and all, I should have asked for it harder. Being athletic, I felt like a soft or normal pressure just wasn't enough to ensure my muscles got the full joy of the experience.
Next time I know to ask for a nice hard full body....massage. -

There are times when you want a massage and there are times when you need a massage. I was in the need category when I called Art of Touch to book a massage. I called on Friday and requested a Saturday AM appointment. I was elated when the receptionist didn't laugh, instead she asked what time would work best for me! Huge kudos there. The interior of the location is very neat and clean; the treatment room was 100% perfect. It was a large spacious room and I could not hear any outside noise. The therapist asked questions and got to work. She did not attempt to become my BFF which I was so grateful for. She was focused on healing my aches and she did an excellent job. She incorporated some stretching into the massage and it was greatly appreciated. The experience with Art of Touch was everything I had hoped for (after reading so many awesome Yelp reviews). A few days after my service Art of Touch mailed me a post card thanking me for my business and with a discount on my next service (will definitely use this). The Art of Touch has excellent services, reasonable prices, relaxing facilities, a flexible schedule; 100% perfect.

Before visiting The Art of Touch, I had never had a massage. This place made me a believer in having them done regularly if you can afford to. I absolutely loved the experience. I don't remember the name of my masseuse, but she did an excellent job. I felt totally zen after, and I've been a pretty high-strung, stressed out gal as of late.
Even though the massage room is located in a shared office building, I was completely oblivious to the external environment. They do a good job of creating ambient lighting and sound in the room despite not having a complete spa facility. I definitely recommend. -

Yesterday I was in need! Art of Touch filled it! I got a wonderful Thai massage from Anne C. and she was a very capable therapist. My low back was in knots and she untied them beautifully!
She was attentive and thorough with her technique.
She was professional and practiced.
The prices are very affordable and, for me, the location is great.
The house-like setting was warm and inviting and the massage space we were in was well layed out and comfortably spacious.
I would highly recommend A of T to anyone looking for a truly "organic" massage experience. This is it! This was my first of many visits, I'm sure, because once I find a place I enjoy, I want to try more and more what they offer!
Thanks for such a positive exchange. I look forward to exploring more of the services here. -

One of the things I didn't do soon enough after moving was find a massage therapist. Now that I have been to The Art of Touch I wish I would have gone a lot sooner because it was fantastic. I have seen Anne twice now and she does great work. I have a medical condition that causes chronic pain and massage helps significantly. Anne is very knowledgable about massage as well as the use of essential oils. She does a great job listening to what I want and what specific areas are hurting during that particular visit. And as if that wasn't goon enough, they also offer packages to save some money as well as student discounts.

The Art of Touch in a word = perfect. It's a very relaxing setting, but not over the top. I love going there because they make it about the experience of the massage; they don't need to go over the top with all the weird things you'll find at a "med spa". I used to get massages for relaxation, but due to some recent back/neck issues I've had to get therapeutic deep tissue massage to combat pain. The Art of Touch is perfect for both types of massages, they have trained professionals on staff that listen to what your needs are, where you pain is, and focus of what can really help you feel better. But they are also amazing if you just want a relaxing massage as well. They do packages and couples massages. The customer service is great too.

I was in town for business and looked for a place for a message. I was going to choose another place, whose website was geared to the business traveler. However, when I saw that place's Yelp reviews and then compared them to the Art of Touch.... Needless to say, I chose the Art of Touch.
When I called, Stephanie was extremely polite and looked to see if there were any openings that fit my work schedule. She was able to get me in with Dina.
In their building, they have the art of local artists hanging up on the wall. This is definitely a nice touch, and it was nice to see the variety of art.
I have gotten massages at the Ritz Carlton and the Waldorf hotels, along with other places where I have lived/visited. Dina's massage was one of the best. I tend to carry my stress in my back, so usually people focus on my back (which is fine by me). However, she inquired what I did and I told her that I was in front of a computer all day. As a result, she really worked the kinks out of my arms and fingers, which was very nice. I felt like I had been given an upgraded body, with less wear and tear, when I left.
Last... I have to say that there prices were very reasonable, and when I told my wife how much it was and she too felt the cost was very reasonable. Their hours are accommodating and I would go again next time I was in Atlanta.
