Review from Ishmal R.
Chicago, IL
I really don't want to say to much about The Anglers Hotel, because its a smaller place and its already difficult to get my group in here.
So I will just say that its probably my favorite hotel down on South Beach, the rooms are sophisticated and comfortable, the mattress, sheets and pillows just make it feel amazing once you slip into bed.
It has all the amenities of any of the great hotels in the world, flat screen, ipod dock, in ceiling speakers, lights that dim, wet bar, lots of closets, comfortable soft big real towels and robes, beautiful bathroom, CLEAN, big rooms with sitting area....its really all you need.
When spending weeks at a time in a place its great to feel really comfortable and the Anglers does that, from their intimate way with check in to room cleaning and turn down service.
It a hotel for the more mature, if your looking for the loud, trendy party scene there are plenty of other big loud trendy hotels to chose from.
If you are looking for an ultra clean, comfortable, quiet and conveniently located hotel the Anglers kicks ass!!! -

Miami Beach is glitz, glam, and great restaurants. Yet it's also kind of noisy and we won't even get into the madness that is Ocean Drive in this review. But what awaits at the Angler's in the Art Deco District is your own private oasis in the middle of it all, room 117.
OK, so you may not be in room 117, but ask for it. My gf is a flash sale wiz and booked the hotel on Jetsetter; for a little extra, they upgraded us to a suite. The downstairs has a very lush seating area, a desk, a passably comfortable pull-out sofa, and a flat screen TV hooked up to a not-so-intuitive audio system. Their wi-fi, although free, has a login process that's a bit cumbersome. The orchid and the books on the coffee table are a nice touch. The upstairs is accessible only by a tight spiral staircase; if you have serious luggage, they'll be glad to take it upstairs for you and you'll be glad they did. The upstairs room is spacious enough for the very comfortable king-sized bed and then some. But the best part of this room is the private patio with hot tub. We basically lived out on the patio both visits to the Angler's, ensconced within our own little world within Miami Beach. Our ten-pound Havanese dog loved it, too; I applaud hotels that accomodate low-maintenance pets.
The location is surrounded by good restaurants so we mostly dined out, but I did swing by 660 at the Angler's one bleary weekday morning around 11. They brewed me a fresh batch of coffee and presented a warm croissant with a bunch of spreads. It was exactly what I wanted: simple and delicious.
My only real complaint was the downstairs bathroom toilet that leaked from the wall connection and sounded like it was singing when you flushed it. Yet I probably should have alerted them to this the first time we stayed here in December, so no biggie. At the Angler's you're in walking distance to all the hot spots, from Espanola Way and Lincoln Road to the beach, nice gyms (ask for a free pass), and clubs. But the vibe of this hotel is a less dance party and a little more private romantic retreat. The room was cozy and beautiful, the staff courteous and attentive. We consider it our new Miami Beach home. -

What a beautiful place to stay. Nice rooms, great little bar, the only warning is if your a light sleeper don't get a poolside room because drunk people like to swim at 3am."

I love it and would come back again.
It was a little away from the noise on Ocean but still close enough to all the hot attractions. Not to mention, just within blocks of this resort are all types of cute yummy restaurants that a lot of locals flock to. Who knew Washington ave was also so popping. I would love to list all the fantastic restaurant near this resort- but that would take away from the fantasticness of this resort.
It's true: service is wonderful. I really appreciate all the staff from the valet guy to our house cleaners (both morning and the evening cleaners) who showed such good hospitality. Miami can be crazy at times, and it is so nice to come to a hotel where staff are so warm.
The room is awesome. Very very clean and very very chic. Like I said, I would come back here again when I visit Miami.
The only issues we had was that our toilet kept running and the wi fi didnt work in our room. I am sure all these minor issues would be addressed had we reported it to them. Because we were not really in our room for much, we didn't bother to report it.
It's a very homey and darling little resort. The restaurant is right there when you walk in and the bar is off to the corner. I liked to spend my evening at the bar and just drink by the pool.
Speaking of the pool- that is also very very nice. It's not too big but big enough. Great lounging area nearby and the water is just as warm as the ocean. It has a private feeling to it and I was able to swim in it on my own with no distractions.
They are very personable and take care of every little details!!! Like calling me the evening before to ask when my flight was the next day so that they can have my car ready in the morning for me and if I would like breakfast prepared before I leave Miami. These are among the many many details that make resorts like this so special and worth it.
I miss Miami and want to come back and stay in this hotel!!Comment from James A. of The Angler's Boutique Resort 10/27/2011

This is the best boutique hotel I have been too! It was like a mini apartment with a fully stocked bar with top shelf liquor. Location off set from the busy word but still within walking distance! I had a great time. Rooftop was nice even though it hadn't been renovated yet but it was nice to view the city. Staff was amazing and helpful. Loved the spiral staircase! I will definitely come back!

Stayed at The Angler's to celebrate my 26th birthday with beau. Service was above average for Miami, and with the deal I found through Jetsetter, The Angler's was a good choice.
Positive's: only three blocks from the beach, the room was clean and nicely furnished. Negatives: No ice machine available for guests (you must call to have some sent to your room), the shower doesn't have a curtain or a door to it (water splash's, or rather forms a pool all over bathroom floor). Only awarded three stars bc if I paid full price I would have felt duped.
Skip the restaurant. -

What an awesome boutique hotel. The Angler's is located right in the heart of South Beach, yet situated far enough from the madness of Collins Ave and Ocean drive that you can actually get some rest!
The rooms are great and fashioned like mini apartments. Mine was 2 levels and came with a private hot tub! So awesome to have your own hot tub on your terrace....it even came with a neat light show built in. You can also order room service from the hot tub! Room service was reasonably priced too.
The service however is what sets the Angler's apart. When you mention you are headed off to the beach (2 blocks away), the staff will equip you with a beach bag with towels and bottled water---very nice touch. When I checked out, I mentioned that we were driving down to the Keys next. Sure enough they provided some maps, guide-books and additional bottled water for the road!
Only major downside is the parking situation---it's expensive (think $30 a day), and valet is the only option. The valet parks the car like 6 blocks away which can be annoying if happen to say forget your camera in the car.
Overall, this is a great find, and should be on anyone's list who is looking for a non-sceney boutique hotel on south beach.Comment from James A. of The Angler's Boutique Resort 5/6/2011

Let's start off by saying: After our very first night at The Angler's my husband and I kind of wanted to move permanently into our suite. . .
Our experience was perfect from the moment we parked our car with the Valet - within seconds of stepping out of the vehicle there was already someone ready to greet and escort us to our room.
We were very pleased with our room (which we had scored quite a deal with via http://Jetsetter.com) - clean, spacious, tranquil, and elegant. The two flat screen TV's were a nice touch, as was the iPod stereo system. . .Oh yes, and I'm always a sucker for Aveda products!
With all of the amenities, The Angler's best feature is the *SERVICE* hands down. Every single person we interacted with (whether at the front desk or the bar) was beyond personable - we felt very much at home.
Another fantastic feature is the location: close enough to all of the excitement South Beach has to offer, but just far enough away so that you can sleep (and awake) in peace.
Thank you, The Angler's for giving my husband and me such a wonderfully memorable experience - we look forward to staying with you again soon.Comment from James A. of The Angler's Boutique Resort 5/6/2011

Boca Raton, FL
We stayed in a two story room in the tower. Very private and quiet. Perfect for romantic getaway. Hotel is on the southern end of Miami Beach, close to shopping district and art deco district. Service was excellent.
Pros:
- Room size
- Service
- Good value (I booked through Priceline)
Cons:
- Valet and street parking made me nervous about my car
- Stereo system with iPod dock was not working, they couldn't fix it
- A/C was very loud
- Balcony was tiny, virtually unusable -
Review from Erica U.
Pretty great place Miami has here a gem on the strip!
The suite we were upgraded to is 2 stories and has a his and hers bathroom. So nice not to have to share! The amenities include stereo system throughout with the option of iPod attachment to the stereo system. Nice flat screens on each floor in each room and a small balcony overlooking Washington street towards the beach.
I haven't tried the restaurant downstairs but the menu looks really nice and my Fiancée who's a bit of a foodie tried the food days earlier and mentioned how good it was.
The valet and staff have been good. I haven't tested them yet with any requests but my short encounters have all been good ones. -
Review from Dan R.
As a local resident of South Beach, you tend to learn about hotels either by (a) renting a room for your parents because your apartment is too small for them to stay with you when they visit; or (b) spending the night with a tourist. I recently paid a visit to The Anglers, and all I'm saying is, my parents weren't in town. And I may have had a few drinks before I arrived at the hotel. So it took me a little while to take in my surroundings and realize, hey, this hotel room is pretty nice. I would put my parents here too.
The beds are huuuuuge, with a soft/firm combo that makes for the best sleep. Bathroom: cavernous. Living room furniture over there in the corner: tasteful. Color scheme: sands and beiges, classy.
Art Deco hotels usually have miniscule rooms, so this one is a rare find. Lots of the rooms are new wings built onto the hotel, they're not the original structure, and those have balconies that are nice; it takes away a little Art Deco romance with all the new construction, but it's no big deal.
The staff is friendly-ish.
The Anglers loses points for its lousy pool, completely surrounded by the aforementioned newly-constructed rooms. There's, like, no sunlight. But I guess that's what the beach is for, two blocks away. And you want parking? It's in the middle of South Beach, good luck finding a spot. -
Review from Kiesha R.
What a class act this hotel is!
My story is somewhat unbelievable. After arriving at the Angler's late on a Sunday night, my water broke 12 hours later at 29 weeks pregnant. I wound up in the hospital on bed rest for 6 weeks before delivering an ultimately healthy baby.
In the meantime, my mother flew out to be with me, and she stayed at the Angler's that whole time instead of my husband and me. The fantastic staff here was so accommodating - reducing the rate by more than half , sending DVDs my way, continuing to provide my mom with free breakfast, delivering lunch the day of my scheduled delivery, and sending me the most beautiful floral arrangement when all was said and done.
This is customer service at its finest, and I will always remember them fondly in my great adventure. Do give this very charming, boutique hotel a shot. The rooms are nice (just watch out for the small, slippery, open shower), the location is great and the rest has already been told... -

Chose this place for a Miami weekend getaway based upon rave reviews everywhere online. Pictures of the facility looked just like the style I was looking for, and we were not disappointed. We were greeted BY NAME right when our taxi pulled up to the front of the hotel. The whole stay there was wonderful, and I have zero complaints.
The place is far enough away from Ocean Drive and all the clubs to avoid the crazy South Beach crowd, but close enough to walk to the beach in a few minutes. We basically walked everywhere, even down to LIncoln Road. We did take the bus once back from LIncoln Road just because we were tired and cranky from a long day.
Complimentary beach bag with towels and cold water really proved useful, and the staff was really accomodating. -

I loved the Anglers. I ended up staying twice, once for three days, and the second time for a week.
My first time, I stayed in one of the multilevel suites. Bottom floor was a plush livingroom/wet bar combo. Up the circular staircase was the bedroom and bathroom, and one floor up was a secluded rooftop deck. They need to put lounges and plants up on that deck, but the views were lovely.
The second time I got a 'studio' which was all of the amenities mentioned above, minus the roof deck. I far preferred the studio as lugging my furniture (not to mention my fat ass) up a circular staircase is a challenge!
Some sadistic prior tenant had programmed the TV to come on at 8am playing Sesame Street, but that is hardly the Angler's fault ;)
Each night, a sweet woman would come by for turndown service, fill up my ice bucket (a huge plus as I'm always forgetting to do that, and an ice-cold glass of water in the middle of the night is super refreshing), and leave behind a sheet of paper with the next day's weather forecast and two pieces of delicious cherry dark chocolate.
The bed was AMAZING both times. Pure fluffy joyous luxury... I really didn't want to get out of bed, but thanks to the Muppets, I was hoppin around right after 8am ;)
I told my company I didn't want to stay anywhere else. LOVED it. -
Review from lara s.
I was weary of heading out to 6th and Washington for drinks with friends, but since it was a going away party I decided to check this place out. I was super surprised by the overall ambiance of the bar/lounge, and would definitely recommend this as a great place to gather a bunch of people for appetizers and drinks. They have couches along the walls, and you can order drinks and food from servers or at the bar- making bill-splitting a non-issue since everyone orders at their own pace. I love the historic feel inside the lounge which is created by architectural detailing and the lighting. I think they have an outside garden/patio area too. One downside was that my mojito was around $13, but I guess that's what you get on South Beach. Good thing I only had one.
Tip: There's a parking lot across the street off 7th and Collins. $1/hour- very reasonable!Listed in: Miami's Mojitos

Oh-so-close to five stars!
This is a lovely and nearly new boutique in Miami Beach. The location is great, just at the edge of the action, so you can easily walk everywhere, but sleep in peace (with a caveat noted below). You are just one block away from fabulous eats at Puerto Sagua. The building itself is historic and stunningly gorgeous. You look at it and go "woah, I am staying HERE?"
The service was fabulous, exceptionally personal. The valet (there are no other easy choices for parking) was swift, and the bellman/registration guy grabbed our bags and immediately took us to our room--you check in at the room, not at a desk. That was actually a nice touch.
The room itself was large, modern, full of soft, cozy furniture and incredible bedding. Bathroom was all lovely marble, but just a shower, no tub, kind of a bummer. Aveda bath products were great. The room was well sound proofed--we were next to the elevator and could not hear a thing. The front of the room faced the street, and the window coverings, when closed, shut all of this out.
The one issue is we were straight above the nightclub and restaurant. Up until 10ish, we could hear a light noise, one which I disco napped through, no prob. Being Miami, come 1030 pm, the party started, very loudly and with a horrible singer. If you can't beat them, join them! So we went down for our free (amazing) cocktail. The food looked great, although we didn't try it, because they wouldn't serve it at the bar. The scene was odd, though. There was this mini fashion show of two models parading up and down the aisles, combined with a hip-hop belly dancer, who kept running in to the models. This was just stupid. I don't know when the chaos ended, but we left around 1130 pm, and when we returned at 1 am, the entire bar was closed, so issue over.
Overall, a sublime, memorable experience and worth return visits! Viva Miami! -
Review from Jed W.
I stayed here last month and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I arrived at the hotel a few hours before check-in time, and they allowed me to change and took my luggage so I wouldn't have to lug it around Miami Beach. I was called the instant my room was ready. Check-in was done at the room, with my luggage waiting for me. You can tell customer service is a tremendous priority for the hotel.
The room itself was really nice - a living/sitting area, an electronics center with ipod dock, radio, DVD player, and a nice flat screen TV. The ipod dock didn't work, but I didn't think it was a big deal, and I had to turn down their request to fix it three times. One cool feature was that the sound came from speakers that were built into the ceiling, so you had surround sound no matter what function you wanted to use.
I did notice that you could rent DVDs for 99 cents from the front desk, or even rent a Wii for 30 bucks! A fun tidbit of knowledge.
I have heard some good things about their new restaurant, 660, but didn't notice anyone that ate there.
Good small pool - nice and heated, with pool-side service as well. Really comfortable cushioned loungers with complimentary lime-and-lemon flavored water.
The location is on the quiet side of the 'strip', about a 15 minute walk to the hustle and bustle. If you don't mind that, I'd highly recommend this place. -

You might not think of Angler's as a place to stay with kids, but me and my 3 & 4 year old had a ball and were treated exceptionally well at our last visit. This hotel is walking distance to Flamingo Park, the beach and plenty of food options...The staff is just lovely, which can be a rarity on South Beach. They left the sweetest note with a couple of kites for my kids who were over the moon. What a nice surprise!
I will be back, but hopefully with my husband next time! It's very romantic and has the feel of Europe in decor. -

We stayed at the Angler's for one night as a getaway while a relative watched our babies. The hotel earns top marks on TripAdvisor, so we felt confident that it would deliver. The location is fantastic... just 2 blocks from prime South Beach. Close enough to get wherever you need to go, but not right in the middle of the madness. Others have complained about club noise, but we were there on a weeknight and the clubs were quiet. We stayed in one of the tower duplex rooms, which are very interesting. Comfortable and clean, but the views from the living room are onto the adjacent building next door, which is only 8 feet or so away. The upper floor, with the bedroom, had great views out over the rooftops and felt much more private. The "roof deck" is just a door way onto a bare rooftop... it really puzzled us as to why they haven't done anything with this; you can't really call it an amenity.
Our only complaint was with the service/staff. We arrived at the hotel at 1:30pm, knowing that check in was at 3pm. The front desk staff told us that they would call us when our room was ready, before 3pm. We lounged by the pool and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, at 3:30, we went back to the front desk and were told that the room was "almost ready" and that they would call us. More waiting. Finally, at 4pm, we went back. The staff, who were pretty unfriendly, said the room wasn't ready. I reminded them that we were told the room would be ready by 3 and was met with a blank stare: "Your room will be ready soon". No apology, nothing. Well, our room was finally ready at about 4:15 and there were no apologies.
Staff gets a zero. Hotel gets a 4. I'd probably give the Angler's another shot, but with so many hotels in South Beach, why take the chance. -
Review from Ginger H.
I found my way to The Angler's for a baby shower. What a cute hotel. The staff is super friendly, the hotel is well-designed and the atmosphere is top-notch. The food is tasty, too. This is a great place to celebrate a small gathering for a birthday party, shower or little fete. If the rooms are as well-thought-out as the rest of the place, I'm sure it's a perfect stay.

This is such a wonderful boutique hotel - I cannot say enough about it. In the past, I have stayed at the Ritz Carlton (which is also great - but big and more "resorty").
A friend recommended the Anglers to me for a weekend trip with some girlfriends. When we arrived, they checked us in at the room and we were greeted very warmly. The room we had was 2 double beds and a pull-out couch, a small balcony overlooking the pool and a nice seating area. Once we got the iPod player to work, it was nice to have our own music playing throughout the room and the soundproofing was great as our neighbors couldn't even hear it. We just had a shower stall and it would have been nice to have a tub too, but that's not a dealbreaker - and it would be nice to have more than one full-length mirror outside of the bathroom. The staff was helpful and very friendly - it's a small staff so you end up being taken care of by the same people throughout the trip. We had breakfast one morning and the kitchen was out of berries. We found out later that our waiter had gone to the market nearby to get berries because he knew how much I wanted them - very nice touch. The pool area is small but we didn't have a problem getting chairs - you do have to be cognizant of where you sit as part of it does get shaded later in the day. They offer a "beach bag" so you can go over to the beach just a couple of blocks away which we didn't take advantage of but would definitely do so next time. We ate lunch and dinner one night and thought the food was great - tapas style and entrees. I did bring my dog with me on the trip and it was perfectly pet friendly - a nice plus. And the other hotel guests were nice but definitely not a place for large families or those who are into being into a big scene like the Gansevoort or Shore Club.
In summary - I highly recommend this to people who want to get away and stay somewhere comfortable and chill. It's in walking distance to the beach and great little restaurants and shops. Next time, I want to try a duplex for sure. -

This boutique hotel is perfect! I wish I could capture with pictures how lovely this hotel was from the staff, to the service, to the location to the cleanliness it was all wonderful. Excellent location just 2 blocks off Ocean drive, with everything close by. The hotel was in a quiet area off the strip but close enough to walk to almost everywhere you wanted to be. There were cabs and buses readily accessible right in front of the hotel. The rooms are wonderful, spacious and perfect beds and offer everything you may need, including Ipod docking station, flat screen TV's etc. Yes the pool was small, but it was nice, it was like an oversized jacuzzi. It was definitely worth the extra money. Planning a trip soon to go back there again!

we love our stay! location, it's close to everything you need/want to get to. thou it's not on Ocean drive, which was my concern before we book...but I'm actually glad we picked the Angler's since it's just a lot quieter yet we are steps away from all the crowds and restaurants. The rooms are immaculately clean and spacious. I kinda hope that they offer a bit more counter space in the bathroom tho..but that's no biggie..aveda products in the bathroom...how nice! the bed is soft yet supportive and yes the pool is tiny, but who needs the pool when ur steps away from the ocean?! the night before we check out, the front desk called and asked if they can be of any service, which to me is a nice little touch! i was about to call and ask for a taxi in the morning and they thought of just that and called me first! Love the place and definitely will be our first choice to hotels if we are in miami again!

great place. comfortable room, amazing service. aveda bath supplies. bathroom was a little less than perfect (low water pressure, plus the "mod" design where only half the shower is enclosed left me cold). but - i'm being picky here. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone coming to miami. location is good - 5 min walk from the beach, 10-15 min walk from higher up on collins. great little boutique hotel, and for the price, it'd be hard to beat.

Loved it! I visited shortly after it opened in Spring 2008. Ideally located near nightclubs and a 10 minute walk to the beach. The room was impressive - contemporary layout, and the courtesy bar was included in the price of the room!!!! The room also had an amazing AV system including surround for the TV. The restaurant on the 1st level is top shelf. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. I'm not a big fan of the resorts b/c you tend to get a watered down experience; at Angler's, I felt pampered but in a way that I could still enjoy the energy of the area.

This is my first hotel review and only because I feel like it was an experience truly worth writing about! I did my research on tripadvisor and this was a hotel that was within my budget (I got a deal on http://bookit.com) and got amazing reviews. I went with very high expectations, of course expecting to be disappointed. THe hotel, however, met all of my expectations! We didn't have a view as the hotel is in a residential neighborhood, but the room was very spacious. There was a living room set, a desk+chair, big screen, dvd and ipod players, and the most comfortable king sized bed I've ever slept in. Our room also came with 2 bathrooms, which was an added plus. The pool was also very nice. The lounge chairs always have fresh towels and covers. The staff really takes great care to make guests feel comfortable. We also ate at the restaurant for brunch and the food was amazing and very reasonably priced. The hotel is also 2 blocks to the beach, close to convenience store, etc, and right on the bus route which you can take up the coastline. I loved my stay here and will definitely be returning. Maybe we'll get the 2 story suite with private hot tub ;)

nice hotel overall, but I'm going to complain about "overly done" customer service. ever heard of that?
Well I experienced it for the first time at Angler's!
trust me, it gets annoying. These people would clean our room every 2 hours! I spent 6 bucks on a glass water bottle that I planned on keeping as a souvenir cuz it said Miami on it and it was very pretty! THEY THREW AWAY MY BOTTLE because there was no water in it!
Our personal possessions would all be moved around everytime we walked into our room. it got REALLY annoying.
the staff, although friendly, is sort of stalkerish. It seriously felt like no one else was staying at the hotel at the time.
Parking is a rip off: $24 a day "unlimited valet", and be ready to wait an average of 30 minutes for your car everytime you request it.
room is nice, shower is ok. my hair smelled like chicken from the "rosemary shampoo" lol so yeah take your own shampoo.. interior decor is great. restaurant has impressive food.
location is pretty central.
