Came here several times a week for 3.5 years--

Must haves:
-mochas (iced or hot)
-chai tea (hot, oregon chai, less milk)
-almond croissants

This is a great place to study or meet up with friends.  There's parking around the cafe and the staff is awesome (they remember you!).  The upstairs balcony area is very nice in the summer and equally refreshing in the fall.  The coffee here is strong and the noise level is just right... plus last I was here, there was free wi-fi.

If I head 'home' I'll definitely pay a visit ... or two. :D

I've been going to the allegro ever since I was four years old.
This place has become my base for when I want to write, do homework, chit chat, and meet up with my parents. My life practically revolved around this coffee shop and I met many friends. In fact, this is the place where my parents first met and I now have an emotional attachment here. The baristas always know what I want and there is no awkward silences and bad jokes. The art is wonderful and the smell of coffee, newspapers, and baked goods warms the heart. Some Fridays they have music and every time I go I see someone I can say "hello" to. The owner; Nathaniel is a very honest kind man and  he has a good rhythm for music. This place is filled with love if you relax and soak in the art of the place.

I love the Allegro.  It is everything a polished chain-store cafe will never be.  I dig that the baristas there seemed to immediately remember who I was and what I drank.  I swear they must have a secret camera hidden somewhere and that they take your picture and make baseball cards of their customers which they study in off hours.  I also like the soft brown sugar they have and the tiny corkboard by the register in which people post little notes to their friends who will be coming through later.  Lots of posters on the wall.  Always filled with students and professors who dress like it is still 1978.  If you're in the U District, avoid the Starbucks and the Tully's are try this Seattle institution.  You might have to wait in line behind a few people but easy turbo, the kind of love they're pouring into these coffee cups takes time.
