Review from Amy S.
This was down the street from where we stayed so whynot? Also the tour guide recommded it...when i walked in i thought OMFG this is a scary dive place thats going to have nothing but greesy bar food....
it was Greesy, but DELICIOUS! Eats: Chicken fried steak, jalapeno poppers, fried Beechers cheese, hash browns, and other fatty delicious food.
It was snowing, and this hit the spot. Portions are MASSIVE. They have like 5 kinds of hawt sauce= my kind of place. YUM! -
Review from Mike A.
Santa Monica, CA
When we walked in it smelled like stale beer that had been left out overnight. I didn't mind that, but I did feel kind of bad, since I took a big group here for breakfast and maybe not everyone likes that Sunday morning frat basement aroma.
The food was nothing amazing, but it was decent. Mimosas came as advertised. Very strange mood - jukebox music meant that half of the time, it was fairly quiet and almost awkward. The bathroom was pretty gross.
Nothing really wrong with the place, but nothing that would bring me back, either. -

Perfect place to spend a snow day! Derek is quick with the drinks and they are oh-so-strong. Plus, it's the 5 Point.
As Jenny-O says, we got our tops hot with salt. -

A God Damn Institution! If you're local, then you understand that sometimes you gotta go through hell to get one of the best plates of greasy breakfast food in the city. If you're new or visiting from out of town, don't expect to get pampered, because they don't do that there. What they do is serve stiff drinks, gut bustin' food and a place to get f'd up with their fellow lost. If you need to be catered to...move along.

Don't know if the food was so bad because it was during happy hour, but my Reuben sandwich was burned, the meat was tough and overcooked, and all I could taste on the first bite was: gross. The only thing edible was the potato salad. When the waitress asked if she could discount it for me, all I received was a bit over $3.00, and I couldn't even eat it.
After eating there for breakfast last year, it was pretty good - the pancakes were light and fluffy, but they really should have discounted over half of my dinner meal. It was very busy, so I just did not bother and left. -

The 5 Point just has a great dive bar atmosphere. The waitstaff is always friendly and wiling to pour a sample of any beer you haven't tried before. A lot of times they're out of their darker porters but they still maintain a pretty good selection.
Now the food is my favorite thing about 5 Point. I'm a huge fan of steaming hot comfort food and their chef never disappoints. In particular I recommend the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Mmm...gravy. Lots of other classic options too.
The 5 Point Cafe is usually full of patrons, and it's easy to understand why: quick, friendly service with great menu options and a comfortable atmosphere make it easy to stop in for either a meal or a beverage. -

Visited here for the first time many years ago.
Recently purchased a groupon.
Great location next to the Space Needle.
HUGE menu and they serve breakfast 24/7.
Love the jukebox.
Good service! -

I will never go back to this place. My group (5 people) went here for dinner while the snow was falling in Seattle and our work put us up in a hotel in the area. As soon as we sat down, the bartender (Derek) threw an attitude to us. He was pretty demanding as "happy hour" was ending in 7 minutes so we had better hurry up and order our drinks. I guess he didn't realize we were sitting there for almost 10 minutes already. He took our drink order and then disappeared for roughly 20 minutes.
He then came back and took our order. We got the mediocre food. My partner ordered the chicken fried chicken that wasn't even cooked through 75%. We couldn't say anything Derek because he was too busy behind the bar to come over to us. When someone asks for a side of ranch to go with their appetizer, you don't expect it to come with your dinner after the meal is almost over. The overall food was mediocre at the best, cold gravy and the meatloaf had hard crunchy things in it. Finally when he realized we were done eating, he brought us a check with everyone on one check. We asked if he could split it up for each person and that's where the trouble started.
He said that he could split the check if we would have told him at the beginning. Since we were on an expense account we had to have split checks. He again started with his bad attitude. I tried to explain what we needed to do and he then again repeated that if we would have told him in the beginning he could have done so. I told him that if we can get 5 copies of the receipt that will satisfy our expense reports and we would run each persons card on the one tab. he said that would be okay.
When we figured out how much each person was supposed to pay, he threw a huge attitude saying that's not what he was told and that we need to pay it all at once. I tried to explain to him what we were doing and he told me i need to lose my attitude. I wasn't giving attitude, just trying to explain. I've never been in a restaurant that couldn't split a check after the fact, even if it might be a little inconvenient for the staff. Having Derek say "I've never had to put up with bullshit like this IN MY LIFE" pretty much sums up our thoughts as well.
We finally just put it all on one card and left, hoping to figure out how to do expense reports after the fact.
Again, I will never go to this place ever again.
Just received a reply from the owner... not sure if everyone else reviewing this can see it, or just me as the poster, but the owner's reply is basically "Well I wish we could review the customers" meaning he thinks he was there when we were and actually has a problem with us. This just solidifies the kind of a-holes that work in and run this place.Comment from David M. of The 5 Point Café 1/19/2012

The best happy hour in the city. You can't beat a cheeseburger and fries for $2.50. And these burgers aren't kids meal size or frozen burgers either. I have yet to finish my burger and fries. The fried cheese curds are also the shit. The trick with them, though, is eating them as soon as they come out from the oven. I found if you eat some burger and some cheese curds the cheese curds get a little hard and squeeky. If you eat them right away they are warm and gooey.
Beside the amazing food, the fact that it is open ALL day and ALL night is fantastic. After a night of drinking, 5 points really hits the spot. Obviously you can't drink there after 2AM, but the late night eats are totally worth it. -

Great spot for breakfast if you don't mind that its in a Dive Bar. I'm totally ok with it, they even served my mimosa in a pint glass! lol Food portions are large and we couldn't save it since we were on vacation and our hotel room didn't have a frig. so we decided to package it up and give it to the needy. I'm sure they enjoyed it.

I liked the place. Very cozy old dive bar with unpretentious folks dining and drinking and working. The bartender was our server; she was very sweet and patient with our hungover, slow-thinking/speaking selves. Got catfish and eggs with hashbrowns - something I hadn't seen before but it made sense. WAy more food than I could ever have dreamed of finishing, but who's gonna complain about that? Good stuff. Solid bar fare. Wish we could of hit em up for that $2.50 cheeseburger deal!

Review from Maylee L.
My friend got blueberry pancakes--I only had an orgasm for the blueberries itself wtf?! Veggie omelet was good the first bite. NEEDS MORE CHEESE!
The restroom was extremely disgusting. Graffiti and crap writings all over? The bar stunk, smells like homeless people took a crap here.
The waitress wanted us to pay right away, I mean we did not even finish eating and she expects us to pay when we are in the middle of eating our meal. -

Oh yummy greasy food and awesome juke box music! 5 points is a great dive bar to people watch and hear your coronary arteries scream for mercy. Their french fries smothered in chili and cheese.....oh dear me.....is fantastic! Oh, and checkout the polaroids on the wall behind the bar. You will thank me later.

It's quirky and fun, and the food is delicious. They also have the best hot sauce ever-- Aardvark. Wonderful. The staff has a great sense of humor and the people watching/listening is usually entertaining until you get your food. And they're prompt with lots of coffee. Yay!

I read in The Stranger that this place has the best tuna melts in the city, and I love good tuna melts, so I had to try this place. It's also only 2 blocks away from my workplace, so I thought it would be convenient to get takeout during my break.
The service was both really good and really bad. So I called and placed my order, and the person who took my order told me it would take about 45 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant 45 minutes later and stood there waiting for another 20 minutes with no one even asking if I needed help. Eventually, I was able to flag down the lady I spoke to over the phone, and she did give me my meal for free. However, she didn't comp my meal because of the poor customer service; it was only because I work at a hotel in the area and send her a ton of business.
The tuna melt was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I would definitely go here for drinks and food late at night, but don't try to get take out. -
Review from Aubrey G.
The service here was pretty bad. Our party of 5 came in looking for a table and they tried to seat us at a 2 top. A group was just leaving and we as the waitress if we could sit at their table and she reluctantly said "sure but it's the same size table and I'll have to clean it". I figured she was just being lazy so I went and looked at the table. It was perfect for five people and definitely not a 2 top.
We ordered in two rounds because half the group wasn't ready yet and the other was starving. The first round came out with orders all mixed up and eggs cooked wrong. I'm pretty sure she forgot to put the second order in because it still hadn't come when the other half of our group was done eating. I asked her about it came about 10min later.
The bathroom was disgusting, and I am by no means a clean freak. Even worse there was no toilet paper in either stall, not even any paper towels! I had to go back out to our table and grab napkins. So wrong :(
My whole experience here was just wrong. The only ok thing was that the food tasted pretty good. Maybe they were just having an off day :/ -

I never write reviews but this place is pretty much fantastic. If you're looking for gourmet, go somewhere else. If you're looking for a place to get steak and eggs at 3am then it's perfect.

I love this place. Unironically. Wholeheartedly.
I've been here at 3pm for a club sandwich and a beer.
1am for cheese curds and tequila shots.
6am for first call touchdowns.
11am for bloody marys and bennies.
(I promise that wasn't all in the same day. ...Although that would be quite a feat.)
I drag all my friends from out of town here. It's a dive bar that isn't dirty and, despite the signs to the contrary, the staff is WONDERFUL. I've never met sweeter people so deftly capable of corralling drunks.
For all you who don't drink: What's wrong with you!?
BUT in all seriousness: There is a separate side for the bar, so if you want some less rowdy fun, it is available. -

Without question my kind of place. Drove all day (from California) to reach our hotel across the street. We were looking for quick sandwich and a good drink! We were attracted by all the neon signs and especially the neon sigh "Cheating tourists and drunks since 1929" I figured I fit both categories.
I had the fish and chips which were prepared perfectly! French Fries are my most important food group and they were marvelous. My wife had a BLT with sweet thick bacon and TATER TOTS! I kept stealing them from her plate!
My martini was oddly perfect! Bombay Blue Sapphire martini served in a high ball glass. No UP in this place. It was so perfect that I had two more and just might start drinking my martini's that way.
Dive bar? Yes. Best pub food in Washington? Yes. How can you not like a place that has a bumper sticker above the bar that says "I F**K Nuns!" My only regret was that I was not able to go back. -

I have been going to the 5 point since I was old enough to go and my grandfather ate lunch their on pretty regular basis from the 30' to the 70's. The 5 point is always full and I for one will have a soft spot for Stephanie. The food has always been awesome. I am diabetic and have issues with food speed yet I have never had one there. T

My fiance and I got into Seattle at 10:30pm on a Friday night. We asked the staff at the reception desk of the hotel we were staying at where we should go for some food and drinks, and they told us to go to the 5 Point Cafe. This cafe is located a few blocks away from the Space Needle, and is conveniently open 24 hours! The cafe was pretty busy, but we were able to find a table near the front of the cafe. The feel of the cafe is very eclectic, with lots of interesting things on the walls.
We were really excited to see tater tots on the menu. I hadn't had tater tots in years, so it was a real treat to order a pound with cheese. They were everything I wanted and more in greasy late-night bar food. We also ordered a few beers. My fiance wanted to try some local beers, and the waitress brought over a taster so he could try one out. It's only too bad she was MIA after this, since it took us over 30 minutes to get the bill! It didn't help that a huge group of people were laying the pressure on for us to leave so they could snag our table too, but that wasn't the fault of the Cafe.
I would definitely come here again, if only for the tater tots. If you are looking for a 24 hour cafe/bar, check this place out! -

This place is made for alcoholics. Plain and simple.
The bar is great. Two of my best friends told me to try the Bloody Mary, and I don't normally drink them. But I had one and it was just amazing.
The food is also everything you could ask for: greasy and in large amounts. The pancakes are friggin' huge (about the size of your head huge). It's open 24 hours and it's perfect for giving your liver some much needed recovery help.
My only grievance with the place is that there could be more space to eat...or maybe it's the portions of the food that was too big? *mind blown* lol I definitely have no problem with the latter, but all in all a drunken paradise! -

Always, always have a good time at the 5 Point. Drinks are strong, food is filling and there are plenty of interesting characters to keep you entertained while you eat or drink. I've been coming here for years and years but never wrote a review. Shame on me.

"Cheating tourists and drunks since 1929."
Sweet neon sign, guys.
MAN. Philly Cheese Steak is fan-tas-tic. Bonus? It's enough to share, so you'll only end up paying $5 each for an amazing lunch! (Well, or dinner, or brunch... whenever you wanna fill up on scrumptious thin-sliced beef, a great roll, and this delectable melty cheese.) I chose mine without onions and with fries.
I walked over on a break during a volunteering shift at a nearby business around 1:00p. It wasn't empty, but it wasn't anywhere near "full," either. A nice balance... just enough to know that yes, this place is good, but they're just not super busy right now.
Not much to say about the decor... Hey, it's a dive bar! I didn't feel dirty in here, though. Yay for that. Especially since I was eating. The shirts and signs on the wall were quite amusing.
Well, 5 Point... You didn't cheat me today! I got more than my money's worth. But then again... I am neither a tourist nor a drunk.
...at least I wasn't at 1:00 yesterday! -

Hot tip: Come here for drinks and apps only.
I had the curry tofu scramble one night when I met three friends for dinner. I guess choosing to have dinner there was my first mistake. Even if I was completely trashed and a vegetarian (I was/am neither), that scramble still would have been the most disgusting thing I've EVER been served at a restaurant. It was like dumping a little container of curry on my tongue and plopping a few chunks of mushy tofu and scorched broccoli on top. Totally dry, totally gross. Just thinking about that meal makes me shiver -- and not in a good way. My friend's fish sandwich contained a piece of fish so small it might as well have come from a tiny goldfish (and not the crunchy, delicious cheddar kind).
Why the three stars? Fun atmosphere, decent selection of beers, crazy servers (seriously, I think the guy was literally crazy), and to-die-for Beecher's fried cheese curds (I mean, really, how can you mess up fried cheese??).
I'd go back, but I've learned my lesson: I'll stick to pre-dinner apps and beers from now on. I can't recommend their adventurous menu selections. -
Review from Susan L.
So I've heard you can see the space needle from the men's bathroom! We forgot to send someone in to check but apparently you can have a scenic view in there. Ain't it great? This is walking distance from the space needle if you don't want to eat at their cafe and want to try a piece of seattle.
5 pt samplers onion rings mac and cheese Jalapeño Beecher deep fried cheese curds. (5 stars)
Chicken fried steak eh, not a fan of this. Reminds me of frozen dinner/cafeteria food. (3 stars) My partner had to eat the rest of that.
First time I tried beecher's cheese and might I say DANG! Couldn't help it later when I ran into the cheesestore at Pike's marketplace later. The deep fried cheese curds could drive one wild. The batter was different from the other samplers.
The sampler came out hot and fresh! Everything on the sampler was delicious. First time I tried the mac and cheese deep fried--even though my friends and I attempted to do so once and failed miserably.
I was so sad that we weren't at happy hour otherwise cheesecurds were only $3! Heaven!
Also, I stupidly left my sunglasses in there and the lady was nice enough to chase me down the street to bring it back to me..so if you go back in, tip extra for me.
The ambiance is more like a bar joint. Thus, if I were to come again, drinks and oily greasy food - sampler is what I would do. -
Review from Tim D.

In an ongoing quest to uncover the best greasy spoon breakfast in cities across the US, I trusted Yelp to uncover The 5 Point cafe.
The mission is always executed with an order of bacon and eggs, because that what I like and if they cock up something this simple, don't ask to make me an omelette.
Daily double points for any cafe that offers waitresses that are old and grumpy or young and tattooed/pierced. Five Points delivers old, grumpy AND tattooed! Also bonus points are earned here for being a bar and dive restaurant in one, with Def Leppard on the juke at 7:30 in the morning. I wont have a martini with my eggs, but it's nice to know I can. 1 point marked off for having website. A dive greasy spoon and dumpy bar on the internet...really? I'll throw in two additional points for no rain while walking to the cafe and more importantly no panhandlers.
But in the end it's all about the sustenance and here 5 Points dissapoints. The menu reads "2 extra large eggs"...they were maybe medium. Over easy eggs arrive over medium. 2 slices of bacon, one virtually raw and the other leathery. The sourdough toast was excellent, but just one slice?? The hash browns, always ordered crispy were spot on however.
Three stars for 5 Points -
