Thanks Yelp! Great accessible location- friendly and spacious. Great food and wine. If you like a sweeter white wine try the Symphony, a Muscat/Grenache blend. It was great with my Red Curry Duck with Pineapple & Sweet Basil.
This place has the potential to be a five star place.
It's just the little things that change what could have been a phenomenal dining experience into something that another Yelper described as, "tasty, no frills."
The Massamun Curry was one of the best Thai curries I've ever had. The taste was rich and complex, other places it can be watered down and too sweet. The tofu and vegetable stir fry was simple but was so good that it transcended it's simpleness. Us Cantonese people call that quality "Wok Hay."
Despite such good food, there were just little things nagging that lessened the experience.
First of all, it seems that all of the chicken served is chicken breast. Not necessarily a bad thing but when we ordered the BBQ chicken, it was marinated chicken breast. We were expecting a half chicken. Still, the chicken was marinated so well, that I didn't even dip it into the chili sauce. Also the beef used in the satay just wasn't right, it was too stringy and chewy. But again, the beef was marinated well though the meat itself felt like it was of poor quality.
Still, this place is pretty good. It's pretty refreshing to go to a Thai place that doesn't depend on chili sauce or peanut sauce to make everything taste good.

I searched Yelp for Thai restaurants and Thai Village had the best rating. I went there for lunch on Saturday and when we arrived to the front door, I saw they had a sticker that boasted "People Love Us On Yelp." Hmm, I wonder if they advertise their business on Yelp to get at the top of the list when users search for Thai? The restaurant is a small and quaint in size but the atmosphere is very inviting. The decor is full of different Thai art and boosts some statues.
We decided to try a variety of dishes to truly get an idea of their style. We tried their Pad Thai, Spicy Eggplant with pork, and their Spicy Lamb. We thought only the eggplant would be a lunch special but it turns out that each dish was a meal. We were given a cup of their hot and sour soup, and each, each dish was served with a side salad and steamed rice.
The dressing on the salad was very good. I have never had a dressing so tasty before. The Pad Thai was above average, they deep fried the tofu and stirred it in at the end so the tofu is crispy and not soft and soggy.
The Spicy Eggplant was unlike any I have had in the past. The sauce was not too sweet and it was balanced with just the right amount of salt. It was probably one of the better eggplants I have tasted.
The Spicy Lamb was my favorite dish. Their lamb is not gamey like other places. Full of flavor with the right amount of seasoning.
Thai Village Cuisine is probably one of the better Thai restaurants in the Union City area.

Very decent place. Food was good and the service was very friendly. Quantity & quality was much better than other Thai restaurants. I think this restaurant is family owned. If you are in Union City, make sure you visit this place.
i liked the few times i've been here. when they ask you how spicy you'd like your food on a scale from 1 - 10...GET 10! its great!! the place is small - i lived in UC pretty much all my life and never knew of this spot until my coworker told me about it. the service is like any other thai place...quiet & pleasant. overall, i was amazed with how spicy the food can be! yum!

Been here once since its my buddy's favorite Thai spot here in Union City by his house. The food was good and tasted authentic. Ate the normal fare - Tom Yum soup, curry dishes, beef w/ green beans and the chili & basil chicken. Have to say that the glass noddle salad appetizer was quite good. A good spot for Thai if you're in the area.

sigh....We wanted to venture out somewhere different from our usual favorite , Sala Thai, so we decided to try this place based on yelp, since it's closer to our home/
we were sorely disappointed
We ordered the grilled eggplant with chkn, green curry chkn, tom kha chkn and we wanted sticky rice, but they were out so we were stuck with steamed rice
the green curry was watery, and it seemed they use stock, and throw in the veggies. the veggies were NOT fresh at all.
the grilled eggplant - a major disappointment ...bland, not enough veggies, and brown eggplant.
All in all, we'll drive a bit further next time for our favorite, Sala Thai!!! (You have to try Sala Thai's pad eggplant and green/yellow/red curries)

small, tasty, no frills
The restaurant consists of around 8 small tables and a counter. I wouldn't even think of bringing for than 4 people here. It's bare bones so don't expect anything fancy.
The food was good and seemed to follow the standard "thai" spiciness scale. Which means shoot low if you're not used to spicy food. The Thai ice tea was perfect.
They take credit cards, have a fairly large parking lot and to-go is no problem.

I am thoroughly disappointed Yelp. I convinced my family to try out this place but clearly I have been deceived. My mother in particular thought this restaurant was in a "bad neighborhood" (?!) and didn't want to go.
Anyway, when we got there at at 5:45 it was completely empty. The place was also really small, but whatever. The chair had an uncomfortable lining so my legs weren't comfortable. I also noticed the glasses they gave for water were completely mismatched. This wasn't just at our table either. This was at all the other tables when other patrons came in.
We ordered chicken fried rice, salmon curry, pad thai as well as their BBQ chicken. For starters we went with chicken satay and I had a Thai iced tea. The tea came in a cool looking tall glass while mom got hot tea. She felt it was too strong since it was just tea/no leaves or tea bag.
I was absolutely starving and frustrated that the food took so long. Half an hour after we ordered we got our boring tasting satay. By this time, other tables were being filled up as friends, families and couples came in. I noticed during the entire time I was there, the waiter (there were only two) would tell patrons they were out of this item or that item. This didn't happen just once, but several times to different tables.
Another 10 minutes after the satay was done, we finally got our food. By that point I was disappointed and can't say I saw much redeeming the rest of the meal. The BBQ chicken was so so. The rice was decent, but nothing special. The pad thai was probably the best item we ordered and was finished by the family.
Unfortunately since it took so long I decided to skip dessert. My dad had to flag down a waiter to speed up the pay process and we left. My dad and brother thought it was okay, but I don't think we're coming here again.
Went here with some friends after we yelped around looking for some ideas on where to go for dinner and we were all glad that we did. Had a variety of food Tom Ka, Thai Basil Beef, Curry, Pad Thai, etc. We ordered mild and for once it really was mild!!! What I really liked about this place was that the taste of each dish was very flavorful without all the hot chili pepper madness and that the leftovers were just as good as the day we had them. I will definitely be going back to this place again!

I love this place. Great food and great price. I will continue to go here.
This is my favorite Thai place in the area. Tiny place, but never a wait. We go to eat there and sometimes for take out. Most items are usually great, just not the best I've ever had (like places in SF). They are really nice there, just usually like one person serving so sometimes we have to wait during the meal.
Things we normally order and love there: beef salad, BBQ pork or beef (the green sauce with it is yummy!), curries.

what a jewel of a thai restaurant! it seems unassumingly small and kind of generic from the outside, but the food is simple, refreshing, and tasty--everything that thai food ought to be. their noodles weren't too sweet, their soup wasn't too coconut-y, and their waiter is so authentic that he wrote down our order in thai (which i heard is pretty hard to do!).
be careful of their spice levels. they rate on a scale from 1-10, and being a spice weaksauce that i am, i ordered at 3. it was tasty, but my mouth was on FIRE.
it's quite small (max 20 people, maybe) so if you know you're going to bring a party, call ahead!
Man do I hate being the black sheep all of the time, but I just didn't think this place was that great. It looks nice for a very small restaurant. The service was average and there were few people there (on a Thursday). We ordered veg fresh spring rolls and, although the presentation was so nice I felt the need to take a picture, they were extraordinarily bland. The Thai iced tea was too sweet and my yellow curry was too lemon grassy. The mango curry was really good though.
My husband told me to give this place 4 stars. I told him to get his own Yelp account.

This place was recommended by a friend, so we stopped by Sunday evening so I could pick up a to go menu. I wanted to check out what they serve. The place was packed! Probably because it's a tiny dining room with an intimate ambiance - something I wouldn't have expected to see in Union City. Hahaha. Seriously, nice decor and place settings.
Anyway, since the weekend was crowded, I thought we should have dinner here on a weeknight. We went on Wednesday (5/16) and it was practically empty but there was a never ending stream of folks coming in for take out. We found the food delicious and the service friendly. We ordered the beef salad (the best I've had!) and the mussaman curry (per another Yelper's suggestion). We finished it all off with a mango pudding and fried bananas with taro ice cream (It's ube!). Next time we'll try the panang curry and the pad thai.
BOTTOMLINE: It's up to par with Tammada Thai across the street, but I'd come to Thai Village for the ambiance!

One of the best Thai cuisines I've ever had. I've eaten a few times at Amarin Thai, but didn't like it, and had pretty much given up eating Thai food. This place came up as a pleasant surprise (Thank you fellow Yelpers!). We tried the Mango Delight, Green Curry, Fried Rice and Steamed Rice. The curries and Mango delight was excellent! Was too full to try dessert here.
Will definitely be back again.

I found this place while driving to the Safeway. I have been here twice, once dine in and once take out. i think the menu here is typical for thai with the exception of the pumpkin curry which we tried the last time. for some reason, i thought it was going to be "pumpkin flavored" curry but it was a yellow curry with pumpkin pieces -- good & unique! the only other time i've had pumpkin (outside of pie) is at my grandparents, so it brought back some memories.
the deco of the place is cute, good for dates, small families, i think a group of 20 - 25 would easily take the whole restaurant (if they can even accommodate that!) but the place is decorated simply with a lot of dark wood. the wait staff is friendly. prices are average, about $23 for pad thai, one curry and two servings of rice.
the pad thai was ok, the curry is better. I would definitely go back.

On the fence with this one...I love Tammada down the street but I like this place too. I think the Yellow Curry, Pad Thai and Thai Iced Tea at Tammada taste better, but I think the papaya salad is better here...
I'm confused. I like both.

Absolutely LOVE this place. We go here all the time and usually order a salad, soup and meat dish, with rice on the side. We really like the steak and chicken bbq dish- sometimes we're not in the mood for chicken and ask for just steak.. and they'll graciously grant us two portions of beef! And dont forget to get extra green sauce. yummm.. Their salads are realy good. Theyre tangy, but not kraft salad dressing tangy.. Simple ingredients with much flavor. THE BEST.
NOTE: Best for small groups.

What a great place! It is a crime that more people have not reviewed this place.
First, I love it that they do not close down during the middle of the afternoon. Often, I like to eat dinner from 4-5PM and most restaurants are closed.
Second, numerous dishes can be made vegetarian with tofu. Everything we ordered was great. Was absolutely amazed with the pumpkin curry. I really liked the thick sauce and luscious hunks of squash.
Great place. Close to home, so tasty.

you have to come here with the expectation that you're here bc you want some solid no-frills thai food. expect more and you'll be disappointed.
this place isn't amazing or special in any particular way, but the food is reliable and good. i prefer Red Chili in hayward, but when i don't want to make the drive, Thai Village is a good stand-in.
This is my new favorite Thai restaurant in the Fremont/Union City area! They make old standby's extra tasty.
Thanks to another yelper for the pumpkin curry recommendation. It was excellent!!! It was the kind of curry dish in which other places would just use potato instead of pumpkin, but here, the pumpkin was delicious, cooked just right - soft, but not mushy - plus it's probably better for you than plain ol' potato. Also, the curry sauce was thick... yummy on top of rice.
I was going to take away a star for not having the eggplant dish in stock. However, they more than made up for it with my substituted tofu and broccoli dish. The shallots gave the dish a nice, subtle sweetness.
The place appears to be about half the size of Tammada Thai across the street, has really cute wooden decor, and doesn't push their dessert on you (unlike the place across the street). Most everything on the menu (maybe except for the appetizer selection) can be made vegetarian.

the pad thai is fabulous, and the fried banana is even better. MMmMmm... *drool*
i usually go there for lunch, where i could choose 2 choices for 8 bucks, pretty good deal.

Have the mussaman curry! You will not regret it. Unless you're a vegetarian. In which case, order it with tofu.
The beef was melt-in-your-mouth perfect, the curry sauce was flavorful and spicy, and the side dishes of deep fried tofu, soup, and house salad were all nice accompaniments. (The salad wasn't particularly exciting, but it wasn't bad.)
The whole lunch special was under $6. How can you go wrong for $6?
They even throw in some fresh pineapple/watermelon/grapes for desert.
Bread rating: 0
Anti-scurvy rating: 2 (had to ask for lemons for the water, but at least they brought out a lot of them)

I would have to say that this is, by far, my favorite Thai place in all the SF Bay Area! A quaint little restaurant runned by the most hospitable staff! Great service and the food is definitely delicious! I've gone there many a time to celebrate a birthday or to have an intimate dinner for two. My favorites include: the Crab Cakes, Fresh Spring Rolls, Yellow Chicken Curry, Basil Beef, of course their Pad Thai... everything satisfies your palate. And did I mention their dessert? The fried banana a la mode is YUM! The coconut ice cream compliments the fried banana to perfection! I live in SF and whenever I go home to visit my family... I always make it a habit to pass by one of my favorites! And Thai Village Cuisine is definitely one of them!

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!
I've been to a lot of Thai Restaurants, and this has got to be my favorite one. Everything I've tried has been excellent, and I would highly recommend the Mango Delight, Grilled Salmon Fillet, and Panang Curry.
Service is excellent and the people are so welcoming. I've been there 4 times since I first tried it about 2 months ago. They even remembered us the second time my family and I stopped by. I just can't get enough of their food (and very reasonable prices!!!)
The restaurant is a little small, but whenever I've gone, it wasn't crowded at all. I'm glad their located in my hometown.
Try Thai Village Cuisine, I'm sure you'll love it!

We made the mistake of saying we wanted hot (7 on a scale 0f 10). It was tasty but too hot for us. The waitress was very apologetic saying she thought we wanted a Thai 7, not an American 7. She even offered to tone it down with more coconut milk. It was our misunderstanding - next time we know to be more specific. Whatever we ate was very tasty even as we drank lots of water. The presentation was very pretty. We will definitely return.

I have to say from the outside you would never expect this nice little restaurant. It's one of those great "hole in the wall" type places. The inside is nice and the food is great. It's a small restaurant, not good for groups, but great for a couple or small family. The service was friendly and fast. Overall we had a great experience dining here.

This is not only my favorite Thai restaurant in this area, but it's quite possibly my favorite restaurant of any cuisine around here. No joke!
I have tried 6 different dishes thus far and they have been nothing short of mouth watering & superb. And each time I go, I am so tempted to order one of the past dishes I've loved, but I don't because I know there are so many other dishes I haven't tried that will surely be just as scrumptious. And sure enough, every new dish is so hard to stop eating when I get full (very generous portions) because the taste combinations are so addictive.
Not only has the food been outstanding, but the service has always been wonderful. They have always been pleasant, sweet and attentive, and I always end up tipping more there because I want them to know they are doing a great job.
I highly recommend this place and will surely go back quite often :)

went there last night with a group of 6 last night. place was pretty empty. ordered the pumpkin curry, parang curry, the pad thai, basil beef dish and a crispy orange chicken dish. the pumpkin curry, like others that have reviewed this, is very yummy, along with the crispy orange chicken dish, they had a special name for the dish.... overall.. the food was pretty good, service was excellent there and the prices are very good for the amount of food you get. $65 (this includes tip) for 6 people that left full with a smile on their face and leftovers for the next day, can't get much better than that.
