Pretty authentic if you ask me. The service was awesome and since we came during an off hour (about 4pm), there was no wait for a table. Overall, good bang for your buck.
*Tom Yum Gai: a little too sweet but full of chicken and mushroom-y goodness
*Pad see ew: very authentic, good portions
*Pad thai: very tasty. Not dry and had a very slight coconut flavor going on. Would certainly order this again.
*Basil Chicken: chicken was not dry or stringy. Good flavor
*Red curry duck: probably one of my favorite dishes. Rice drenched with curry sauce...yum! Only complaint: there was not that much duck.
Have only done take-out from here.
It was good, came in a timely manner, and portions were reasonable.
Some of the best papaya salad I've had. Yummmmm.
Thank you sir, may I have another...
Best pad thai I have ever had.
I clearly only took the food part into consideration b/c the service was mediocre at best. We waited so long to even get water on the table. I am just a little more forgiving of poor service when the food is outstanding.
What time is it?!?
I have a special place in my heat for Thai Time...
I don't think you can find a better deal anywhere for this quality (and quantity) of food. It is a staple in my diet. Actually, as we speak, I have two one quart containers in my fridge of pumpkin curry and pad thai waiting to be devoured.
Yes they deliver - but who can resist a cozy atmosphere and good conversation?
Originally went to the Thai place around the corner from here but they didn't serve beer/wine so we relocate to here. So happy because this place was so much better. Cute cozy dinning without harsh lighting.
Good Thai food- I was in Thailand for a month this summer and they serve you up the real stuff at Thai Time
Good beers imported from Thailand
Friendly service imported from Thailand
Good vibes imported from Thailand
Will be returning soon
What time is it??
Thai Time!
This place gets crowded, and even on a Sunday night it's full by 7pm. But they deliver and do take out, so have no fear. Their food is probably some of the best Thai there is in the city. Everything I get here I love. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it...
Came here with Sarah D for a quick bite after a long day at work. I have bookmarked this place and was praying that this place would be great. Long story short............I was not impressed.
They were busy and it was almost impossible for them to take our orders, let alone give us water. It was extremely stuffy in here tonight. The place can be cramped and cozy. Or........ it can be cramped and claustrophobic. It was the latter tonight because it was packed.
We ordered:
Tom Yum soup (had better.....little too sweet)
pad thai with shrimp ( probably their best dish here)
garlic rice with breaded fried chicken ( not bad)
pork with garlic and basil, I asked for it minced but didn't get it.( very tough)
Service on the other hand..........was great.
After ordering the waitress then tells us that it would be an additional 15 minute wait for our food due to the backup in food orders. Shouldn't they have told us this before we ordered? It was actually 30 minutes and it was probably the longest dining experience at a Thai restaurant for myself.
The long wait to get water, to take our orders, and the arrival of food might have made the food not as tasty. I might try this place one more time when it is not so crowded. For now...........it is not really all that. Marnee Thai, Chabaa, Osha(geary) are far better than this place.
Thai Time has great food and they deliver in the neighborhood too. We had some really delicious curries and stir fry dishes here. I do not even like Pad Thai and I think it's a must have here. The prices are very reasonable. We liked the green curry duck, the pra ram with tofu, stirfried eggplant and the coconut and brown rice.
It's very cozy here. On a Saturday night, we were told to come back in one hour. We couldn't wait because we were starving so we didn't come back.
On another night we ordered delivery (yay they deliver) and were told it was going to be about 45 minutes. No problem. After 1 hour, I want to call them but I am encouraged to wait. After 1.5 hours I am cranky and hungry and call them and asks where is my food. And supposedly the driver was on his way. I asked them to call us next time if they are running late. If their food was not so delicious I might have been more upset!
First time visit to Thai Time based on Yelp reviews...the food was awesome! We ordered Chicken Satay, Yellow Chicken Curry, Red Chicken Curry, Spicy Eggplant and Mixed Vegetable Fried Rice....everything was delicious! Prices are reasonable...parking was no problem. The restaurant is very small. I think they do quite a bit of carry out business...lots of people coming in to pick up food during our dinner.
We will be back!
omg.. we waited soooo long for our food. We got there and were seated right away. It was a full house; 8 tables all full. But they didn't' come to bring us water for 10 mins. Then 5 mins later I had to demand the waitress to take our order. After we told them what we wanted, she let us know that the food will take about 15 -20 mins to prepare. And we were okay with it but would have preferred to be told that before we ordered.
So our soup came out about 15 mins after we ordered it but the other items took another 20 mins to come out. We were running out of things to talk about! The food was okay. Pad Thai- more wet than the usual and not as flavorful as I've had before. Fried chicken over rice, I liked the chicken but the rice was not that great. Then we had pork basil, my roommate asked for minced pork but it came out sliced (she must not have understood) - and it was okay... not even good. This place was not worth the wait. Small place and okay food. Take out might be a better idea. Since they're pretty cheap. $10 will get you a full meal.
Good Value and delicious: Afternoon i took the entire household to lunch and we returned that evening for dinner with more friends. The experience was awe-inspiring. Hor Mok Talay is very good Sauteed combination seafood with red curry paste, coconut meat and sweet basil.
one of 105 testy dishes...
This place is great. It's super small, but doesn't seem to be crowded that often for some reason. (Maybe because It's a little bit off the beaten path...)
I've had the pad thai, green curry dish and mango sticky rice desert. My friends have all had great meals here as well.
The trip to the bathroom is through the kitchen which makes for an interesting experience checking out what they are cooking!
*Inner Richmond Insider Tip: When it's time for thai green curry, make it Thai Time all the way.
Believe me, I've been in this business for over a year (moved into my place in April '08... not to mention I've been a frequent of Clement since I discovered King of Thai in freshman year of college). That's over a year+ of many a night where I have nothing in my refridgerator and am craving something hot, quick, slightly spicy, and well... green!
Having sampled all the competitors in proximity, I must say
* Tawan's Thai Food green curry is less than memorable.
* Thai Noodle Jump loads theirs up on veggies, but gives little liquid. Plus they used to steal my friend's wi-fi, who used to live upstairs.
* Beloved King of Thai gets it WAY too watery. Sorry, but you have been de-throned, at least on this dish.
* Be my Guest is too expensive for mediocre Thai food, in general.
Thai Time's green curry wins for its perfect balance of meat of choice, bamboo shoots, basil leaves, and peppers. Also the flavor is the best, with a distinct fish sauce taste but not overwhelmingly so. The viscosity of the curry is thick and creamy. And the portion is big enough to last me three evenings total of empty fridges.
I might even go as far as saying it's the best green curry I've had, ever. Buuuuut I understand there is life outside of the Inner Richmond. So I won't say it... yet.
Still, well worth the trek. I usually take it to go, but the one time I ate in, the teeny tiny place was pleasant.
My friend told me that she had really good Thai food at this place so I decided to try it out . Their thai iced tea is okay , but not that great . Their green curry fried rice is A-MAZING !! You can really taste the curry in the rice and it's kinda spicy ... not too spicy but spicy enough . I love it !! Very tasty and yummy !! Only thing is that it comes in a very big portion ... so if you plan on ordering a fried rice , you should probably just get one and share before you order two and end up not finishing .
My friends and I came to this little hole-in-the-wall after Nightlife at the Academy of Sciences. Who knew you couldn't get full off of overpriced alcoholic drinks?
It's a very small but cozy place just off of Clement with amazing green curry. That's really all you need to know.
Thai Time is probably thee best Thai restaurant I've ever been to!!
Their Pad Thai is so freaking good, they add some coconut juice.
Do not use their bathroom though. You have to walk through the kitchen...which is tight. Then you have to walk through this tiny walkway...which is tight. If you can hold it...hold it.

We got delivery from Thai Time. I thought it was okay - but I would try other Thai places before ordering from Thai Time again.
My wife disliked it and would never order from Thai Time again.
The meats seemed to be from lower down on the USDA grade scale, and the flavors were just so-so.
This Place is pretty small if you blink you'll miss it. But if you find it, it's one of the best thai food I've had. Seems like grandma's cooking type of food, very homey and delicious. For a San Francisco restaurant it's cheap. If you visit the city swing by you'll like it.
i truly love places that are hole-in-the-wall. :D
why?
food tastes better & super affordable!
for those who love meat like me, come outside the shell and try some flavorful vegetarian thai dishes. let me break it down just nice & simple:
you must try their super-fabulous vegetarian dishes of:
1) yellow curry: sweet, slightly spicy with fried tofu
2) pad thai: sweet, noodles are perfectly cooked
3) pad see ew: slightly salty, fried tofu. thick/flat noodles are perfectly cooked again! veggies are so crunchy & seasoned tastefully.
[customer service] waitresses were very friendly & kept refilling my water, which is just great!
[total cost of dinner] $30 including tip (AWESOME!)
i'll visit thai time again for sure!
this restaurant is very small inside, not much bigger than my living room
I ordered Pad Thai with Shrimp and a Thai ice coffee, I noticed the pad thai was a little too sweet? the sauce had a little too much sugar, I dont really like it so sweet and Ive had better, but it was still pretty good, I should have ordered the Thai spicey chicken with basil over rice instead, I prefer salty / spicey foods better than sweet. I would come back again to try other dishes, the service was excellent!
I love my girls and my Thai food.
After a brief girls night of shopping and free drinks w/ C+M, we head over to Thai Time for some food. We debate whether to share 2 entrees between the 3 of us or 3 entrees. We compromise and decide we'll get an appetizer and 2 entrees. We're trying to save money (buying property, going on a trip to Peru/Bolivia, New Zealand, etc.) and not over-eat.
The waitress comes and I order fried tofu for starters, and the pan fried wide rice noodles w/ pork, and C orders the spicy chicken + green beans. The waitress turns to M, who looks about 14, and M says she's gonna share with us... like we didn't order enough food for all of us. C starts blabbing that M's on a diet... like the waitress needed/wanted an explanation. Haha. When the waitress leaves, M goes, do you want to get the spring rolls too? C goes, yeah let's get them... and she calls back the waitress.
Fried spring rolls, fried rofu, fried noodles. So delicious and worth it, even the sweety sticky sauces that come with it. We all agreed the spring roll sauce was tastier. I expected a more peanutty sauce for the fried tofu. So much for saving money and not over-eating. F it.
Based on one weekend dinner delivery. We give it a solid three stars. Compared to Tawan, this is a half star better.
They packaged everything really nicely in plastic containers. The servings were big, especially the green vegie curry. The vegie curry was quite spicy which I didn't expect, but got used to soon. My husband ordered the red curry with beef - he said it was good. It looked like a lot of beef. Two orders of rice (old rice, not fresh), Pad Thai with shrimp, and a serving of egg rolls (four rolls, very big) came to $35; total of $40.
We found the menu on http://menupages.com.
I thought the price was good for the portions and the quality was good, no stringy beef and the vegies all looked and tasted fresh. We had enough food for two full meals.
We liked our food and will order from here again. So far, this could well be our Thai delivery staple.
Over the last year and a half or so that I've lived here my taste have been exposed to some fabulous foods.
Tonights dinner was not one of the best but it was just ok. Seems like all the right ingredients but nothing to really wow me, you know?
This is how it all went down....
Pad Grow Prow which we decided to have with beef. I also opted to have no garlic in ours. I'm allergic to that and they did honor my requests. Lots of cooked onions and bell peppers and tender beef. Really tender bites. We had ours over brown rice which made the dish that much better.
Pad Thai with chicken and stir fried noodles. Yummy fried tofu, ground peanuts and bean sprouts. The nice flavor of the peanut sauce really came through strong on this dish. It was soo yum! Sliced carrots for coloring and a lime to squeeze on top. ::loosening up the belt a notch::
Deeply breathing and stretching for a few minutes...then dessert!
Sticky Rice with sliced sweet mango and coconut milk on top. My top dessert at any Thai restaurant! I love this dish! Sweet slices of fresh and ripe mangos. The coconut milk soaked right into the rice and made me smile with delight.
Washed it all down with a nice and cold Thai Singha beer.
I'll be back of course, just going to try a few different dishes though..I need that wow!
Gotta love the Inner Richmond.

Tried this spot out last night, and I ave to say, it's not that bad. Not the greatest by any stretch, but the portions were decent sized and the food was pretty tasty overall. For what you got, the prices were fairly spot on.
I normally never eat vegetarian, but decided since it's the onset of Spring/Summer and since I'm trying to be more health conscious, I'd give it a go, and was actually pretty satisfied. They make a mean tofu dish!
The curry puffs were my favorite part of the meal...almost a Thai samosa kinda thing, but the Pad Ka Meur was dern tasty.
If you want a VERY casual, lowkey spot to get some decent Thai, if you're in the 'hood, pop by!
I'm on a flu-induced soup regimen this week. My liquid diet tour of duty has included chicken pho, Korean tofu soup, ramen, canned chicken noodle and last but not least, tom kha gai from Thai Time (the coconut-based sweet and sour chicken soup).
Here's how I ended up eating Thai Time soup...
Stop #1 - The doctor. Verdict -- nastiest flu I've had in years. Leave with two prescriptions, including a throat numbing gargle.
Stop #2 - Soup (self-prescribed as my third medicine). I wanted Thai soup and used mobile Yelp to locate this gem of a tiny restaurant near my doctor's. They had the soup ready in 5 minutes and filled my request to make it spicy.
Stop #3 - Home to eat my soup. Whoa! They weren't kidding it's spicy. Every sore inch of my throat starts screaming. So I swish a bit of the numbing stuff, then proceed to eat the rest of the bowl. Delicious. And now my sinuses are clear. Hallelujah.
Can't wait to go back and try more. Also excited to see that they deliver for free. And that they have a selection of rices including brown, jasmine, garlic and sticky rice, not just white rice.
Pretty tasty thai food. Fresh and hardy. Tastes a little bit Viat influenced, but perhaps it was what I ordered. The Tom Ka Gai was excellent. Creamy as opposed to watery; a little on the sweet side, though still spicy with plenty of chicken and mushrooms. Very rich.
Prices are very good for what you are getting. The only thing that seemed a little off was the steamed sticky rice. Good enough when you mix it with the sweet juices from the dish I ordered, but not so good by itself. Pretty fast delivery for a Sat night.
I have yet to find a Thai restaurant with more tasty food and a better value. 'Nuff said!

Can I just say one more time how much I love this place? For having discovered it just this year, I find myself eating here on an average of once a week (sometimes more...).
They have a lunch combination for $7.50 which includes two choices of entrees from a list of popular dishes and curries, jasmine rice plus vegetarian tofu-egg drop soup (which rocks my world!). I am a sucker for the Pra Ram Tofu and Tofu Gra Prow Krob. These curries are rich and buttery smooth, with a really decadent finish to the sauce, much enhanced with coconut and aromatic seasonings. I always substitute garlic rice for the jasmine. It looks browner and I can even pretend it's healthier than the usual white rice fare.
The place is cozy and cutely decorated on the inside and the ladies here are so sweet and friendly. Very attentive service, and if you stop in at lunch time they will be busy in the back kitchens as well, preparing each dish made-to-order. I know this because I can hear the pans sizzling each time, and literally smell the fresh curry wafting into the dining room. If that's not good, I don't know what is!
Really good noodle dishes as well; I'm partial to the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Pad Kee Mow.
NB: I just noticed today that the consistency of the Tofu Gra Prow Krob was slightly thinner than usual; still tasted delicious though.

How did I live in the Richmond so long without discovering this hole-in-the-wall but oh-so-yummy place? OK, maybe because I can never walk past the purple hole-in-the-wall King of Thai on the way to 8th, but I digress.
We ordered the green curry fried rice and the pad se-ew. A cup of Thai iced coffee to boot. I spilled a chunk of it while moving it to my side of the table, so yes, I made a mess.
Delicious and affordable - what more can I ask for?
Oh, maybe move to the Sunset like I did?
Me and my friend decided to go somewhere new just by driving around and while driving on clement, at the corner of my eye, i spotted thai time!! just what we were looking for, hole-in-the-wall!
We walked in, and the restaurant is SUPER TINY! but cozy. there weren't much people but two other parties in there. but then in the next 15 minutes, people started coming in and by the time we were done eating, the restaurant was full with people waiting to be seated!
So we did family style. I got a Thai iced tea, that was pretty standard. My friend got hot tea, and I think she liked it. Ordered the spring rolls for appetizers. There were 4 pieces and all cut in half and served with this sweet/sour sauce. yummy. Ordered the yellow curry with beef. That was just a little spicy but tasted very good with rice. And we also ordered sweet and sour chicken over rice. the chicken was pretty good and it was fried. Total came out to be $32 including tip/tax.
This place can be deceiving on the outside but thats where you find the best and affordable food! Cheers to Hole-in-the-walls!
Cute little hole-in-the-wall place where the staff is friendly and the food is good. I ordered the Pad Ka Prow with pork and it was the least spiciest version I've ever had. Actually, it wasn't spicy at all. I'm not sure if they just assumed because I am white that I don't want some heat, but it definitely lacked with out that extra chili! My friend got the soft shell crab with mango salad special that night. He enjoyed it, but from what I tasted the salad was fresh but the crab was too heavily fried. It was too crunchy and you missed the taste of the crab itself.
The place is cheap though and does offer a great selection!!!
I stumbled across this place because it turns out that Halu doesn't open till 5:00PM and this place was right across the street.
The place was really small and chill. Nice ethnic decoration and small enough to seat about 20 people. A good spot to relax and enjoy a peaceful lunch. The service was friendly and timely.
I forgot the name of my entree, but it had flat noodles, squid, shrimp, fishballs, spinach, and green onions, in a pinkish soup. It was an excellent combination of sweet, sour, and spicy. Grinds.
I've ordered take out from here twice now, first time the order was perfect, food was delicious. Second time, they messed up the order, and brought something completely different than what we ordered. However, whatever they brought was good too. I'll order again, maybe they'll bring something else yummy!
Never eaten inside the place, so I can't comment on that. Prices are fairly reasonable for Thai food....
It's a cute little place, and the food is decent enough, but not great. A plus is that it is pretty cheap, and they have a fairly extensive menu. We ordered angels wings, beef pad see ew, and chicken panang curry. You really can't go wrong with the angels wings, anything fried is always delicious.
I take my pad see ew pretty seriously, and the pad see ew was fair. The beef in the pad see ew was overcooked, and the rest of the noodle dish was ok, but lacking in flavor (nothing a little hot sauce doesn't help). The panang curry was pretty good, loaded with chicken, which was nice, but could have used some more sauce, and again, more spice (again, hot sauce helped a lot here). All in all, it was cheap, and pretty good, but I've had better.
This place is pretty good. In fact, I think I am going to make a point of going more often. For some reason having a Singha here and some noodles is oddly transporting in a way that a lot of other places can't summon up. Its got a great balance of sweet to spicy and they have that whole traditional "wood and fabric covering everything" decor. Plus, you have to walk through their closet of a kitchen to get to the restroom and to think that they create their food in such cramped quarters is worthy of applause.
Noodles = good.
Curry = good.
seafood = good! (surprise)
Best Thai food I've had in the city. Very small and family owned and operated.
Excellent food! A small place in the Richmond, but well worth eating at.
Their food had some wonderful flavoring which was not too spicey for me. However if you like it really spicey, I think they can accommdate that for you. Nice intimate place to eat. Service was good and friendly. Highly recommend this place.
Came here for lunch back in May with a friend. The restaurant is real cozy, so I'll recommend calling before going there with a big group. We each order a curry dish (beef and duck, i believe), which came in hugh portions and yummmy! We ate what we can, and still ended up with 2 more meals in the doggy bag.
Had to update this review to 5 stars. They know me by name here and know that I always get the green curry vegetarian style. I almost always get my order to go, but eating in here is a real treat, too... It's small, cozy, and has wonderful decor and atmosphere. I ate here with 3 friends last week and we ordered family style. We got the Thai Time sampler appetizer, green curry with rotee, vegetarian pad thai, and a dish that was fried tofu in red curry. It was probably the best meal I've had in a long time. This place is amazing. They also take credit card, which puts them heads and shoulders above any other business in the area.

Yes, I know that the name makes it sound like Fisher Price My First Thai Restaurant, but don't let that fool you. This is definitely one of my favorite Thai places in the city. I've eaten their food (dine-in and take-out) dozens? maybe hundreds? of times, and they never disappoint. Some highlights are the Tofu Gra Prow Krob (crispy tofu with curry-ish chili sauce and basil), Tom Kha Gai soup, Garee Puffs and Pad Plik King (green beans with choice of meat/tofu, try it with pork!). If you're feeling fancy, get the garlic rice instead of plain, it adds even more flavor to the experience.
They are also incredibly accommodating. My sister is a vegan (and picky), and she routinely makes up dishes and they do it without complaint. Let me repeat that: they are willing to cook food THAT YOU HAVE INVENTED ON THE SPOT. Want crispy tofu with peanut sauce, pumpkin and veggies but no mushrooms or fish sauce? Done. Like pineapple curry but hate duck and love green beans? Ask them to substitute chicken for the duck and add the beans, they will do it for you. Yes, you may have to repeat your request for maximum clarity, but isn't it worth it for a customized Thai-licious meal?
