Nice, small, casual restaurant that does the job of serving affordable, exotic food with friendly, almost neighborly, service.
Their Tom Yum came with a choice of meat and was authentically fragrant if a little on the sweet side. The Pad Thai Goong (I chose shrimp) came with medium heat as ordered and was also on the sweet side. I like to order a Thai staple like Pad Thai with medium heat to calibrate myself to their standard of Thai food and hotness. If they claim to be a Thai restaurant and fail to make a passable Pad Thai, then there is not much worth to trying other, more challenging dishes.
The dining area is cozy and I couldn't help but overhear other customers and realized that there were a lot of repeat customers, especially considering that this restaurant opened about a month ago. The owners were very comfortable coming out of the kitchen to discuss recommendations etc and also giving complimentary desserts out. I even received one even though I was new there! The fried banana dessert consisted of banana slices wrapped in a won ton wrapper and deep fried to a golden color. The pieces were topped with drizzled honey and toasted sesame seeds. Delicious!
I will return to try more dishes. This restaurant is centrally located on Memorial Blvd across the street from the Nissan dealership. More icing on the cake: a '92' restaurant inspection grade!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Robert B.Cornelius, NC29477Apr 26, 2012
I was doing business in Murfreesboro this past week, and I stopped in on a whim. I didn't really expect much to tell you the truth, but this spot did not disappoint! As a mattter of fact, the first time I went was so enjoyable, I went back for a second time.
The first time I ordered the drunken noodles (because if you don't have good kee mao... then what's the point?). They were spot on except for one small detail....not enough basil.
The second visit I went for the pad thai, which I rarely order, but I was just in the mood for it. I thought that the flavors were right, and it was quite tasty. My only complaint is that it was a bit on the sweet side.
Bottom Line: If I am in Murfreesboro, then this is where I will probably go for lunch. $6.95 for thai is pretty hard to beat.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Randall C.Murfreesboro, TN942Jul 20, 2012
Thai Pattaya has become a regular spot for me. It's a small local place with a friendly staff and awesome owner. They offer dishes from Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.
Whichever dish your chose can be customized by a variety of proteins or veggies. In addition you can chose your spice level (on the menu level 1 - 5 but you can go higher upon request).
Dishes I've enjoyed are: Tom Kha, Spicy Mango Basil, Cashew Nut, Spicy Tilapia, Panang Salmon, Drunken Noodles and of course Pad Thai. All have been excellent. Food is prepared fresh (I don't think I've ever heard the beep of a microwave in there). Cindy (the owner) also keeps an eye out for new ingredients and so sometimes you'll see completely new entrees or appetizers appear (recently they had a run of on the bone red snapper which was amazing).
The owner also makes homemade ice cream which is delightful. It's unusual to have the luxury of homemade ice cream at a restaurant so I usually indulge. Flavors I've had are: Coconut, Mango, Pandan and Pineapple. Ice cream is served in standalone scoops, or you can have it with sticky rice. I suggest having it with the sticky rice, there is something really comforting about the texture of the combination.
As a local place the service is warm and informal. I have more than once been there and had the kitchen just randomly decide to make me something and send it out. The owner and her grandmother are the cooks and that family feel comes out, these are ladies who enjoy feeding people. It may seem like a romantic notion but to me food is medium that seems to translate the cook's feelings about what they're doing. And at Thai Pattaya you can taste happiness.
If you're in the area this is best Thai in Murfreesboro, and possibly Middle Tennessee as a whole.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I've been searching for good Thai food around Nashville. Luckily I was on assignment in Murfreesboro and Yelp'ed nearby Thai. OMG...this was the bomb diggy. So far the drunken noodles were the best around Nashville/Murfreesboro area. The service was friendly and nice, seems like a family run business. They were clean and my food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I will try them again!!!!
I love love love spicy food and found the 3 to be a mild. Hot enough to taste the heat, but not too for people who think mild is their lane. Definitely turning the heat up to a 4 next time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Will M.Chicago, IL4926213Apr 8, 2011First to Review
3.5 stars, I came here hungry for dinner, and left satisfied. The food was quite tasty, I ordered the red curry tofu, and it came with a small portion of rice, some tasty curry (deliciousness), medium spicy, and a lot of vegetables :-).
Went back and tried the pad thai for lunch. Why is Pad thai, orange colored? because of of food coloring in premade sauces perhaps. It was naturally colored, so no shades that remind you of a bad spray tan job. The taste was good. I really appreciate the cleanliness of the kitchen, and assumed lack of additives from homemade sauces.
Truly recommended as a good Thai food place. I've tried many of the tons found in the area. And this is good. I wouldn't waste your money on the lemongrass chicken and the prices aren't the cheapest considering the ambiance is lacking, in this tiny place, so takeout may be a good idea, if it's too busy.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - James N.Hermitage, TN6321Jul 8, 2014
Great spot for some Thai food! My fav item on the menu is the Fresh Rolls!!! I could seriously eat 10 of them! So good!!!!
The owner and her staff are super nice and friendly every time I've visited. They even recognize me when I call!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ken S.Murfreesboro, TN25142Dec 2, 2011
I went to Thai Pattaya one night when my wife was out of town, sort of a reconnaissance meal. Really glad I did. I ordered the red curry and was delighted. When my wife and I both went she got the pad thai and I got the seafood combo Pho. Having never had Pho I had nothing to compare it to, but I really enjoyed it. The pad thai was a little on the sweet side compared to what I've had at other places, but nonetheless tasty. The service was great--friendly folks at tableside and in the kitchen.
We'll definitely go back because there are quite a few things on the menu I'd like to try. The tough decision will be driving across town to Pad Thai Cafe, or sticking closer to home at Thai Pattaya. I want to help keep both restaurants in business and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bryan L.Murfreesboro, TN15532170Mar 1, 2013
Great little Thai spot in the heart of Thai country!!! Ok.. Not really. It's actually in the middle of Murfreesboro.
I have been here several times now and have grown to like lots of the food. They have some neat things that you don't see everywhere else, like the fried eggplant. The curry is allright. The Pad Thai is allright. The Pho is edible. The Spring Rolls (my go to) is not bad. Nothing i've had is spectacular, but nothing too bad either. Fast food service makes this a 3 instead of a 2.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Grace C.Raleigh, NC201260479Feb 5, 2014
During my road trip from CA to NC, I stop in Murfreesboro to visit a friend and for a night sleep. I was craving Asian food and yelp-ed "Pho." Thai Pattaya was the first business in my search results. Finding it very funny that yelp thought Thai food was Vietnamese, I stop at this location for dinner.
There was one male waiter and he was very friendly when my boyfriend and I walked in and want to order take out. We picked Pad Thai and Pad See Ew (very typical Thai dishes). The portions are huge! We were only able to finish half of our dishes and finished the rest the next day.
Overall, I liked the restaurant. The waiter was very friendly. Food was good and the restaurant was very cosy and home-y feeling. The next time I visit my friend in Murfreesboro, I will stop by and try another dish :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - LC R.Murfreesboro, TN2131May 30, 2014
