Wow. Good sushi in Miami? Preposterous!

This place is really yummy and the service is always pretty good. I've had the sushi and the thai food and it is consistently great. I went to high school in the area and never knew about this place so now that I do, I go whenever I'm jonesing for sushi. It's a little hard to find parking sometimes because it's in the circle but it's never been a big deal. I'm not crazy about their ginger dressing though, which is usually a must, but the food is so good it never really makes or breaks my experience.

i love this place!
their pad thai and fried rice are really good!
what makes this place great is their dragon roll- very very fresh and with a great eel sauce that i've had only at one other place here in miami (mr. yum). the service isn't too great, but it won't stop me from coming here- the food is just too good. the ambiance is also very nice- especially if you're able to sit on the upper level by the windows on the floor- very intimate and cozy. i really like this place, i just wish it was located closer to me!!!

I guess I could consider myself a regular here.  Probably a couple times a month.  Like some of the other reviewers, I had a bad service experience here.  But I didn't let it slide.  I mentioned to the server why she was getting ZERO gratuity.  I also mentioned to the owner, who is also one of the sushi chefs.  He was grateful.  I haven't seen the waitress since.

Prior to that experience and thereafter, the service I have received at Thai Rama has been satisfactory.  My suggestion is that if you are not satisfied, mention it.  They will be responsive.

As for the food, Thai Rama is good.  It's not blow your socks off great Thai or sushi but it's more than adequate.

In general (NOT specifically to Thai Rama), service in Miami sucks.  Between the frequent language barrier and servers and bartenders who don't give a schnitt, there are huge holes in the service business.  And not just in restaurant biz.  But given the commonly transient nature of foodservice help, ugliness seems to be rampant in this particular market.  I  have a fair amount of foodservice experience.  I have frequently dreamed of opening my own joint.  When I consider the labor market, my dream quickly becomes a nightmare.  I would not want to be an employer in SoFla let alone a restaurant employer!!

It had been years since I had gone, and upon the invitation of my daughter we went again.  I know I had liked it, but had the Thai food, not the Sushi.

Today we had Sushi Rolls - JB and Zombie.  I was very pleasantly surprised at the size of the rolls, usually I expect so much smaller than I got here.  Three rolls was MORE than enough for two people.  We were pretty full when we were done, plus they were delicious and they were VERY generous with the seafood. Plenty of fish in these rolls!!

Even though we were full we had a taste for Thai Donuts, and they were FANTASTIC!

I thought the place was very cosy, not packed so we could gossip and talk without having to shout over all other patrons.  I don't know how full it gets at lunch, but the service was fine.

Only con.. they had the plasma on a show where they were milking venom from snakes and tarantulas.  At one point they were showing the snake EATING a dead rat.  Not the kind of show that goes well when  you are going to eat.  They did realize and take it off, but again... maybe nature shows not a great idea.

We will definitely return soon, I can't wait to try their Thai fare again!

The service at this place is extremely slow and unprofessional. It took forever for our orders to be taken. While we waited, one of the guests in our table spilled her water and they never came to clean it up. We had to use our own napkins.

A plate of Pad Thai was brought out about 15 minutes before a boat of sushi that was ordered for the table. After I finished eating the pad thai, the sushi still was not there. The food itself isn't bad at all, but the service makes you wish you never came there in the first place.

It really was one of the worst experiences i've had dining. So bad, that we didn't leave a tip. Stay away from this place!

I work in the area so that's how I know this place. The food is definitely very good but unless you know the staff, I would probably agree that the service is a little under par.
