Chicken Pad Thai is great. Drunken Man Noodles are great. Tom Kha Gai and chicken noodle soups are awesome, love the hot pot presentation. The Thai iced tea I could drink a gallon of. Its very hard to go wrong here if you stick to the traditional favorites.

The people that run the place are very hospitable and nice, I have been here at least 2 times a week for the last 10 months of my life and cant get enough of the food.

I highly recommend this place and its inexpensive as well

Thai Palace is one of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee and, more specifically, my favorite Thai place in Milwaukee. I'm sure there are lots of wonderful things on the menu, but I can't help myself from getting the same thing each time - volcano tofu! They also have delicious crab rangoon with a good sauce. It's all about the sauce. Try a Thai iced coffee, too

The staff are always sweet and attentive. I wish they delivered although it might be best for my wallet that they don't, because I would be ordering it all the time.

This past Saturday, I went up to Milwaukee for a show with some friends.  In doing some research prior to our visit, I found this restaurant on yelp with good reviews.

After getting to this place, we realized it was decorated quite nice. It truly had a Thai feel to it.  The waitstaff was great.

We started off our meal with Spring rolls and soft shelled crab (deep fried).  Both were delicious.

Then for the main course, I ordered the Volcano Chicken (Thai Style-hottest).  It was recommended by a person who was in the restaurant and visits all the time.  Others in the group had the green curry seafood selection, red curry chicken, and pad see ewe.  Everyone truly enjoyed their meals.

If ever in Milwaukee, WI again, we will definitely go back.

This was the last place I went to in Milwaukee, but for some reason it's the restaurant that I remember the littlest about. I went with a group of friends for an end of the semester celebration; the decor was nice and seemed authentically Thai; the wait staff was cordial and gave me nothing to complain about; but I think the food was simply OK. If I remember correctly, I ordered the drunken noodles with beef, standard fare that I enjoy getting at other Thai restaurants. It was not as good as other Thai restaurants. If I return to Thai palace, I'm getting the curry.

As Leigh mentioned, I LOVE THAI PALACE.

Best Thai in MKE!  I've eaten at E.E. Sane a few times and have no idea what everyone raves about - maybe it's because I don't eat meat, but I've been everything from underwhelmed to grossed out by the food there... and don't even get me started on the new Thai Kitchen.  Thai Palace is the polar opposite.

The Tempura Vegetables at Thai Palace are made without eggs, and are definitely the best tempura veg I've ever had.  $7 gets you a pair each of onions, mushrooms, bell pepper strips, sugar snap peas, potatoes, green beans, and probably a couple other rotating-menu items -- it's a lot of food, and a nice, deliciously deep-fried start to the meal.  It's an awesomely varied selection and a pleasant change of pace from the miserly portions offered at most restaurants.  The dark ginger sauce is delicious, if a bit on the sweet side.

Everything on the vegetarian menu can be made without fish sauce (I know, I know, there shouldn't be fish sauce on the veg menu -- one of the dangers of eating Thai).  So awesome.  The Volcano Tofu is amazing - medium-sized triangles of deep-fried firm tofu on the requisite bed of cabbage and carrots, sprinkled with fresh scallions and cilantro.
Though they're not listed under the vegetarian menu, you can indeed get Drunken Man Noodles with tofu, and they're my favorite thing to eat at the Palace -- wide, fat rice noodles stir-fried with crunchy fresh veg (baby corn, peas, broccoli, etc), chili, soy sauce, and Thai basil.  Make sure to ask to take out the egg to make it vegan.  I'm looking forward to trying the Tofu Cashew Nuts next time we hike downtown.
Regarding spice levels, two stars/"medium" spicy has been mild on Volcano Tofu and pretty darn hot on Drunken Man Noodles.

When your meal is served, the server will ask you if you want jasmine rice, and proceed to nudge a giant, tantalizing bowl of it in the general direction of your plate to encourage its consumption.  Take heed:  you have to pay for it.  The server won't mention that at any point, s/he'll just discreetly add $2 to the bill for a single scoop.  Bah.  It is really good rice, though.

Frou-frou drinks are awesome, fruity, and strong.  I recommend Thai Palace Boxing; you get a chunk of pineapple or orange AND a maraschino cherry.  And it's pink!  There's also a decent beer/wine list (including one $200 bottle of wine - !!!).

Service is fast and friendly -- occasionally a little over the top, in both cases, as water is often refilled after just one sip.  We went here once and our server sat at the table next to us and literally watched us eat.  Omni boy was more unsettled by this phenomenon than I was, as I eat at least half of my meals in an office cubicle where people don't think twice about walking in and asking me to drop my food and go make copies mid-lunch.

Parking can be a hassle, as Thai Palace is smack dab in the middle of downtown on Old World 3rd, but it's well worth it to walk for a while when you know this restaurant is waiting for you at the end of your journey.  If the dishes here spark your interest in bringing the flavors of the Orient to your home kitchen, the always-amazing Spice House and Asian Mart are right up the street.

The Thai Palace menu is available on Allmenus for your empty-stomached perusal:

"Unbeatable Exotic Asian Dishes in a Traditional Backdrop"

Items that I look for in a Thai restaurant include; seafood quality, cuisine choices, sauce flavor, lack of cheating on the ingredients, restaurant, large portions and Thai decor.

No Thai restaurant that I have ever experienced aced these tests across the board like the Thai palace.

The downtown location is easy to overlook because the building is incognito in comparison to its surroundings (the Grand Avenue Mall, Hyatt and Milwaukee River).

Initially, I was introduced to the lunch buffet. It offers an assortment of hot dishes and appetizers including Chicken Curry (red or green); spring rolls; house noodles; soup and other customary favorites for an ultra low price of $7.95. The thing I learned is that the products used are not cheapened to save money for the lunch crowd.

Once I had a little bit more disposable income, I ventured to the dinner menu. Exciting items include Volcano shrimp or chicken; Chicken Satay [ in a portable grill with peanut and sweet/sour sauces(appetizer)]; Massaman Curry (chicken, pork or beef) with coconut milk, potato, onions and cashew nuts are just a sampling of the 60 or so well-appreciated menu items available. My wife and I can also rave about their fabulous Seafood Royale (generous shrimp, scallops, mussel [and even a crab claw ]seafood combination with clear noodles, bamboo shoots, mushrooms and scallions).

Tia, the manager and bartender, is well-known for her magical drink-mixing ability (of note, the Mai-Tai). Primo non-alcoholic beverages include the delectable Thai ice tea and Thai coffee (must be experienced to dig).

The wait staff is friendly, quick and helpful. They appear to be native Thai with an exceptional appreciation of Thai food and culture. In direct opposition to the buildings exterior, the ambiance is romantic with lighting and imported (and apparently antique) Thai wall decorations.

Seek this secret gem in Milwaukee's downtown. Prices are comparable to other area restaurants, but they cannot boast the authentic flavor of the Thai Palace.

Fantastic. I was in Milwaukee for a business trip and this restaurant was close to the hotel so we figured we'd try it for dinner. It ended up being one of the best Thai meals I've ever had. We started with fried spring rolls that were served piping hot with a very flavorful sweet & sour sauce; they were excellent. For entrees, we went with a boneless crispy duck dish that was piled high with vegetables, as well as Panang curry with tofu. I've ordered Panang curry bajillions of times at many different restaurants, and this was definitely in my top 3 of all time. The curry was not too sweet, it was the perfect consistency and it was full of flavor even though I asked for it very spicy. Many times, making a dish spicy just ends up masking the original flavors because the chile is so overpowering. Not in this case! I loved it and would definitely go back next time I'm in Milwaukee. I don't normally review a restaurant after just one visit but this dinner was just too good to forget about - I wanted a written record!

It was good, not the best Thai food of my entire life as some people have been putting it, but good. I had the volcano chicken. Overall, better than the King and I...

For now, I'm rating this a 4.  Probably the best Thai in Milwaukee, but that isn't exactly a strong endorsement.

Good points - Service was very attentive
- Atmosphere was as one would expect in a Thai place.
- Mai Tai's (recommended from another review) were possibly the best cocktail I have ever tried
Medium points - Pud Prik Sod was tasty, but was ordered 2 star and not spicy at all
-  Fresh spring rolls were very good, but had a bit too much peanut sauce
- Drunken Noodles, also good, but ordered 1 star and quite a bit more spicy than the other dish.  Probably a kitchen or server mixup.
Bad points - Long wait for the check once we finished.

We will definitely be returning to try some of the seafood entrees.

One of the best Thai places I've ever been to. Our Milwaukee host took us here last night. Thai Palace s a nice, rather cozy space. Our waiter was an absolute gem and he was all smiles for the entirety of our time there. I ordered a mix drink off their rather short cocktail list, but each one of those drinks looked great.  It was similar with the menu. It was not overwhelming, but many things looked fantastic. We all split the Tempura Vegetables, which was perfect. Not greasy, perfectly crispy, good variety. I went with the volcano duck, which was very tasty, albeit bone is often terribly hard to eat when bones are left in. Thai Palace even pleased my vegan friend Stephanie! GOLD STAR!

I was in town for a conference and had checked YELP for the areas Thai restaurants as I do every time I travel and I found this place was the closest to my Hotel so I figured out I would give it a try.  At first I was aprehensive, as I walked up to the front door I noticed there was no other patrons normally i would have walked away but the reviews on YELP were good so in I went.  I ordered the Tom Ka soup and it was great, not too sweet but had great flavor and was not watered down like some I have had.  Then the spring rools also very tasty.  I oredered the Pad See Eww and I think their med is my hot but it was delicious so even though it was a little hotter than I like it was still excellent.  I will be in town again next month and I will have to stop in and try another dish.  I asked if they were usually this slow and they said the crowds dont come around til later and the weekends are generally much busier.  With food and service this good I cant see why they don't have a line out the door all the time.
