I have to disagree with Alex on his claim that the place is usually empty; on the contrary, whenever I've gone there it's been full. The food is tasty enough, but very pricey. And the service is very slow. Nevertheless, this is where I'll go whenever I want pad thai.

Oh, and try the thai iced tea! Yum.

DO NOT EAT HERE  IF YOU WANT GOOD THAI FOOD IN SALEM.

I can't believe this place is able to stay open!!!!

This is a total sorry excuse for a Thai restaurant.  I ordered the easiest/plainest thing to make, Papaya Salad and they even messed that up.  Thai food is supposed to be spicy, and when the waitress asked me if i want it spicy, I said yes.  However when my plate came, there wasn't even one pepper in there.!

I can't believe my PM suggested this place and claimed that it was the most spicy he's ever had.

This place looks pretty nice and has good service. Parking sucks because you need to park either in the mall structure or be lucky and find a spot on the street. I'm surprised it gets such low ratings I like it, but I don't have a lot of Thai food experience. The portions are large because it's meant to be served family style.

A dependable Thai chain in Oregon. Slow ass service but friendly nonetheless. Just down the street from Nordstrom... mmm Nordstrom- my soulmate. This might be one of the better looking Thai orchid's. We went during dinner and it was pretty busy. Their pad thai was as predicted, fine as how it tastes in all their locations. I commend them on consistency. Even on their off days, their food doesn't taste like doo doo. The calamari though could have been better, the batter was a heavier one and it's not airy and crisp. I drank a ton of water that night. This is one of times where I could not make it to Portland, so thai orchid in salem will suffice.

Thai Orchid is one of the fancier places in Salem, a top from the street level and located within the Salem Centre.  The decor (furniture, wall decorations, etc.) are very nice however, each time I've gone there the place has been nearly empty.  It only took me a glance at the menu to understand why, Thai food here is expensive.  The service could have been better during my visits, as they are slow and not as attentive as they could have been (especially since it wasn't busy!).

The food itself was tasty but nothing impressive.  I'm certain other Thai places could emulate their presentation and flavor just fine.  And thats just it, there are other places that could do better with price and service.  If the view is what one might go for, then go for lunch when downtown is a little more lively.

The Thai food here is very Americanized but relatively tasty and will work if you're craving some Pad Thai or Pad See-eu.  The restaurant is located on the second floor and overlooks the streets of downtown Salem.  The atmosphere is clean, friendly and very inviting however the service has been extremely slow on several occasions and not too attentive.  It is a great restaurant for big get-togethers.  Prices are average to high for what you get.  Parking in the free Salem parking garage right behind the restaurant is also very convenient.
