Classy decor, nice lighting and a sense of tranquility greet you when you walk in the door of Thai One On.
Thai One On is our neighborhood Thai restaurant and serves some of the best Thai food I've ever had.  Their service is GREAT - polite, graceful and efficient.  Whether it's my man & I out for a cozy date night, or I'm in there with the kids, or I pop in for take-out and have a glass of wine at the orange bar while I wait - Thai One On takes care of me.
Oh, and did I mention: the food is DELICIOUS.

My fiance and I have been to this place 3 times now, all for lunch. The lunch portions are huge - I assume they're the same as the dinner portions, but one of the times he and I acutally split a dish over extra rice.

If you're looking for a lot of really tasty food for not much cost, this is a great lunch special. 6.95 gets you a huge plate of food, rice, and a bowl of house soup.

Now, don't get me wrong. The "soup of the day" (which has been the same all three times we've gone) is mediocre. Kind of chicken noodle, with tofu instead of chicken and cabbage instead of noodles, which makes it more like tofu, cabbage soup? If you have it, you'll see what I mean.

We've had the Pad Thai (which is out of this world. Not too sweet, basically just right for my taste) and the Red Curry with Chicken (which I'm now officially addicted to, and I order it every time we go). We had the crispy won tons last time too. Really good.

We've only had one thing we didn't love, and it was something soy soup. I know that's pretty unspecific, but if perhaps soy sticks in your memory, and you see it on the soup page, just know that it's meh.

Anyway. We will go back. It's a nice place and some really great food. What's not to love?

Their food is pretty good. But it's kinda pricey. Anyway, the atmosphere is kind of nice, even though it can be loud sometimes. The thing that people should try in this restaurant that they can't get anywhere else is Prig khing with crispy pork (it doesn't matter whether you order it on rice or separate. This one is definitely a winner in this place. Oh, and it's not in the menu, so you kinda have to order it yourself. They'll know what you're talking about. By the way, the service is not that friendly.

Let's "Thai One On!" were the words uttered when we realized that Toyoda Sushi was closed today, but we still wanted to get "some kind of asian food" with an out-of-town friend.

The spring rolls were tasty, the calamari was tasty, the Tom Kha (soup) was tasty, the curries were tasty, and I hear their desserts are delicious.

The cost was a bit more than I like to pay for my Thai food, but... I guess the nicer interior (than that of most cheaper spots) and the existence of a full bar (so you're not limited to beer and wine) is worth something?

The service was good.

Just don't try to pay with a card if your purchase is under $7, because they have a $2 charge for that!

Why Seattle goes crazy over Thai is beyond me but when in Rome. I have eaten here twice with very different results. The restaurant had a very friendly atmosphere and good seating choices. The first time I went got the BBQ and thought it was decent even for $9.99. Thai rice is a weird way to serve rice though it's like eating a tough piece of bread made of rice out of a Ziploc bag in a steam basket. I say it's like that experience cause it is that experience to a tee. Well that was my first try and I came out thinking if I were hungry I would stop in again.

Well I got hungry again and this time I wanted to mix it up. I went with the Coconut Ginger Soup and it tasted horrible. I forget whenever I eat food from the orient if on the menu it says comes with beef to expect flecks of it not a sizable contribution to the dish. So not only did I get little actual food I got a soup that tasted like scrubbing bubbles. I was told Thai food is "the bomb" so many times but I have not been convinced and evidently this is one of the big guys.

This was the site of my first date with mah new main, who is Thai, and therefore I figured it had to be good if he chose it. We had a late dinner here, so the place was fairly empty. We bonded over some kickin papaya salad, grilled beef, and I shamefully can't remember the rest because I was a little caught up in the moment.

That being said, they served us up a great dinner. While the date was 5 stars, it could've been at least a 4-star experience had they not started to PINE SOL THE FLOORS toward the end of our meal.

A return visit for appetizers yielded some wonderfully crisp and fluffy crab-stuffed won tons, some spring rolls with a slightly rubbery wrapper, and a very generous pour of whiskey (yay!).

After reading other user reviews, I've got to go back and try the crispy pork over rice. This place merits my return business because it is so close to home, has a nice atmosphere and bar area, and--thanks to a successful new relationship--it now has nostalgic value.

I'll sum it up in a long sentence: a catchy restaurant name, a welcoming layout, especially for a place in the heart of the city, better than average menu lineup, good quality Thai food, and an almost excellent service from the waitstaff, which is about trivial for any place similar to this one,  And?!!!  (you may like this one)... it's inexpensive, and there's parking in the streets at night, or in the back of the restaurant.
Overall, it's actually a good place to hang out with friends and catch up on things while filling up on the all too comon spicy Thai deals.  So there you have it.

One of the first places I visited after moving to my new Lake City 'hood was Thai One. I had just gotten a shiny new Iphone 3G and downloaded that wonderful app known as the Urban Spoon (before I discovered the Yelp app of course!). Not knowing what I wanted to eat or where to go to get it, I locked in Lake City and left my culinary fate to the Urban Spoon oracle. It led me to Thai One and I put on my walking shoes and made my way on over.

I have to say that some of the places on Lake City Way are kind of shady looking despite the constant stream of customers. I have standards people! I can't eat just anywhere! So, when I walked into Thai One, I was happy to see that it was clean, nicely decorated and full. Although the hostess never came over to greet me, I didn't let that stop me from appeasing the Urban Spoon oracle. I walked to the cashier and asked for a take out menu, ordered my food and waited. The crowd was lively and everyone seemed happy. When my food came, it was nice and hot and smelled delish. I almost changed my mind about dinning at home and grabbed a table. But I had a movie from the Blockbuster on the corner waiting for me and home I went.

I ordered the phad thai because you have to go safe when trying a place for the first time and it was pretty fabulous. I tore into it and watched my movie as I drifted off into happy plate heaven. I have yet to return because I'm on a mission to try as many restaurants as possible in Seattle, but the next time I get a hankering for Thai, I will happily find myself at Thai One.

I tend to think that good restaurants only congregate in certain areas of the city, so when a friend of mine who lives near Thai One On suggested we go out here for dinner, I was a bit wary. I think I have built myself into a culture of doubt regarding any business on Lake City Way except for Emerald City Tattoos (which is, oddly enough, right across the street.) However, even the LCW gets it right sometimes.

I ate here with a couple people and we did everything family-style with a couple appetizers, so I got to try a bunch of different stuff. I have to say that the seafood is the specialty here. I'm really picky about my fish - if it tastes like it's even thinking about going south, I don't like it. The calamari ring appetizer was tender and perfectly fried without being rubbery, and the not-quite-accurately-named-yet-totally-delicious sukiyaki soup was a veritable cornucopia of oceanic delights in a spicy, sour broth. Angels came down from the heavens and licked the inside of my mouth. Seriously. It was that good. The fish was all fresh and the calamari remained texturally pleasant. I felt bad about not being the one who ordered it - even though we were sharing everything, I could have eaten the whole bowl and been happy.

I ordered my panang curry at four stars, and while sadly they do seem to subscribe to the practice of "White People Spicy", I hear it's just a dinner thing. The pad thai was also solid, but it's pad thai and kind of hard to screw up.

The service wasn't as neat as it could have been, and the open layout of the restaurant means that while totally gorgeous, it gets a bit loud, so four stars.

A girl can only eat Mexican or steak sammiches so much!
Instead of a typical dinner at the Mexican place next door or the restaurant with the awesome HH I thought we'd try some thai.

Had dinner here just the other night with my man who, by the way, was pretty reluctant to go here... he even called our neighbor to ask him what he thought of it and to make sure he thought it was good!!! SHEESH...

Arrived a little after 6. Service was great and we sat down right away. We both had a pint of Sapporo (so good!!). I got the chicken rad nah 1 star, he got the garlic beef dish 1 star (I'm a wuss so he ordered 1 star and then asked for hot sauce so we could share).

Food was great! Beer was great! Watching my guy drown his food in soy sauce after putting WAY TOO MUCH hot sauce on it was great! He downed his beer, his water, AND my water... lol

Free delivery after 5pm with a minimum purchase
Lunch specials everyday from open til 3 except holidays

It's convenient and my food was tasty. Will be back soon.

Only been here once, thanks to a gift certificate for my birthday. On the card, my friend specifically said to order Crispy Pork over Rice, which is not on the menu. He said it would make me cry from its sheer goodness.

I didnt cry, but I thought it was..
YUM times 1100

Pieces of super fatty pork with some sweet glazing served over green beans with garlic sauce.

SO GOOD.
Seriously

Also had their green curry and rama. Not bad, nothing special. Crispy Pork = Best.

I'm so glad that the food is just as good as it was 4 years ago when I lived around Lake City!

My best friend/old roomie & I decided to come here since we were shopping at Northgate Mall.  We went a little before 6pm and it was busy.  We ordered a curry chicken dish and chicken phad thai, both with 4 stars.  The chicken phad thai wasn't that spicy to me but the curry dish had a little of a kick but no tummyache so yay!  I hate getting old...

It took awhile to get our food b/c it was so darn busy.  They were filling phone orders, to-go orders and orders from seated customers.  I was so hungry... we finally got our food (yay!) and it was soooo good.  The flavor was perfect, not too bland (curry & phad thai) nor too greasy (phad thai).  The servers made sure that our water cups were always full and made sure we had everything we needed.

It got busier as time passed-tons of people were waiting for available tables around 7pm.

All-in-all, a great dinner!

I've only eaten here once before, but from this limited experience it was a positve one.  The inside decor is pretty and spacious.  The wait staff was attentive and friendlier than I've experienced at other Thai restaurants.

I was going light that day so I ordered fresh spring rolls.  I felt they were on the smallish side, but were very delicious.  The peanut sauce was top notch.

I also had a bite of my boyfriend's dish , which was orange chicken.  It tasted very fresh and was very good.

I ordered jasmine tea and they didn't have a french press, instead just a single tea bag.  That is fine, but I really love having a pot of tea at my table when I am enjoying a good Thai dinner.  My favorite thing we had was the black sticky rice pudding topped with coconut milk.  I love the unsweetened coconut milk mixed with the sweet and thick sticky rice.

Overall prices were on the average side.  I would definitely go back based on this experience.  I'd like to taste some curry and pad thai before having a truly solid feel for the restaurant.

Picture it: a lonely Christmas evening, and having trudged over 1.5 miles by foot to get here sans disabled car/icy conditions, I walk in to the warm room of Thai One On.

The atmosphere is fantastic, as this place is only a couple of years old and everything still has that new smell. But new in the good way.

I sat at the bar, ordered a panang curry with a thai iced tea and was pleased. Service was mediocre, but it was a busy night so I'll cut them some slack. The food is fresh, hot and very tasty. They have a nice HDTV at the bar, though I couldn't flip the channel because some old man was glued to the History Channel.

Overall, I'll be back. And you should venture into the world of Thai One On if you'd like an option outside of the University District.

The funniest thing is I have been coming here for quite some time, and I always feel like it gets better and better as the years roll on by.

I thought to myself that maybe it is a three star, or maybe I just might not write a review for this place, or maybe just maybe I might forget about thai one on, and venture to a new thai destination.... Then one cold dark rainy seattle day... which we don't get often kekeke.... I should go eat some comfort food, but where ?? hmmm and I thought to myself well.... maybe I should go to dicks.. so I drove there and then I saw thai one on, and changed my mind... sooooooooooo I ordered the usual

- shrimp phad thai four stars.. no onions or peanuts
- phad phrik khing
- roti
- chicken curry five stars

and it was pretty good.. so much better then I have remembered..... so thai one on will be my back up thai place.. but I will never cheat on you tup tim thai.. kekek

When someone calls to place a takeout order, if you happen to know that every street within a 5-block radius is CLOSED for a parade, and every street within a 5-block radius of that is gridlocked on account of all the other streets being closed, making it virtually impossible to get anywhere near the restaurant, the polite thing to do would be to mention that on the phone.

I'm just saying.

Yay for good Thai food within walking distance of my place! I've been here a handful of times and so far, I haven't been disappointed. The chicken with basil is delicious and so very flavorful (I love spicy, but the 5 stars kicked my bootie). Their green curry and pad thai are yummy as well, and unlike other places, they're not stingy with their prawns. Just be careful when asking for 5 stars... my nose was running like crazy by the end of the meal and I must have downed 6 glasses of water.

Thai One On is a really good Thai place.  I'm not huge Thai veteran as some people around here are, but I can see the appreciation in the Phad Thai.  The rice noodles were really short however, not sure if it is the way they prepare them, but I am more accustomed to long noodles.  It could have been that they were over cooked or something.  It sounds really critical, but it all tasted the same.

The only demerit is if you read about their credit card rules.  Something like 2 or 3 dollars will be added to a ticket under $7 as well as a table over 3 people.  Really!?  Pretty much everyone these days operates on plastic and you're still gonna stick it to 'em with an extra charge?  Whatever.

Another thing,  prices.  I didn't look at the menu but knew that I would like the Phad Thai.  Total ticket was $7.11 or something like that.  Pretty decent for the quality and amount of food.

All in all, I'll come back to Thai One On.  I'm in walking distance and its worth the effort.

Outrageously bad name for an only so-so place. I mean people, come on, if you're going to name yourself after a binge, at least serve some super fine cocktails and offer them up with delish bar food.

The cocktails are half-hearted. The bar is an afterthought. Where are the fricken chairs? You gotta go hunt for them. And FYI, sitting next to the pile of highchairs doesn't usually put most gals I know in a drinkin' mood.

The appetizers are not appetizing, if they come at all. Can I get a side of spring rolls with my puddle of grease?

There is one important thing that recommends this place: its proximity to my daughter's gym. This is where the booster club officers all go to Thai One On.

This is the Best Thai food Ever! You owe it to yourself to eat here. But be warned you will find yourself craving it all of the time! We love to start off with The Crab Won ton appetizer! They are lightly breaded, with crab cream cheese filling. And served with a sweet chili sauce! Mmmm mmm! Terryl's favorite entree is the Beef Broccoli. Kelly is always torn between Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao. Their prices are very reasonable. If you go for lunch you get soup and rice with your meal. Dinner is served in family style portions.

When we moved here in July 2005, we stumbled upon Thai One On on a lark. We figured, cute name, probably cute place. And it was ... is. The decor is uber-trendy, while the staff is uber-average.

But the food? My god, the food is uber-yummy (enough with the ubers!). Fave dishes include: tom yum, pahd thai, pahd kee mao, pahd see yiu and green curry. The Thai iced teas are sickingly sweet, but cool and smooth, which goes well with the level of spice they offer. We've been back there several times, and we often order take out. The prices are reasonable, the food tastes good. 'Nuff said.

Ever have one of those dining experiences when you're having so much fun with the group of people you're with that you can't for certain determine how many "Yelp stars" an establishment deserves? Well, that's me at Thai One On. I imagine a three-star review would have been possible, but I had such a little party with four good friends that four stars seemed to be in order.

The restaurant environment was pleasant. The lighting was appropriate for evening, the decor was very bright and colorful, and the space was 2/3 full of customers.

The wait person, a young gentleman, was pretty patient with all five of us chatterboxes. After 15 minutes we finally decided on our drinks and appetizers. Unfortunately, I couldn't indulge in the app's because they contained gluten. Bummer. The others in my group, however, seemed to enjoy the calamari and coconut-battered prawns. I was about ready to order what appeared to be a gluten-free rice paper-wrapped spring roll, until the server informed me the rolls, or some of the rolls' contents, come from Vietnam, and that I shouldn't trust the contents to be gluten free. Er...thanks for the tip...but I wondered how much of their other stuff comes from Vietnam.

The ladies at our table enjoyed our cocktails. I had a lychee cranberry fru-fru drink, quite sweet. The five of us shared four entrees and a large side of rice, and there proved to be plenty of food for the gang. We ordered two-star dishes with beef, duck, chicken and tofu, and all were tasty. The two-star rating tasted more like 1-1.5 stars, but the group did not seem to mind.

During a lull in the laughter and conversation, we noticed the restaurant seemed to be closed, with servers waiting for us to finish. Embarrassed, we settled our bill: $91 for appetizers, drinks and food for five people.

I would certainly try to "Thai One On" again in Lake City, to make sure the place is indeed worth four stars, and especially if I get another chance for a mini-party.

This place is a great choice when in the mood for thai.  Or "Thigh" as my midwest mom calls it.

Price won't break the bank, though not overly cheap.  You get some quality food.  I have yet to eat in, but take out is great and always hot and ready when I get there.  It looks very nice in there though, and it is usually pretty busy.

It's a favorite for bringing home dinner and a movie :)

It could just be my imagination but I think this restaurant is supposed to be a bit of a parody on Thai restaurants. The food is the real thing, garlicky, spicy, or peanuty and good.  The decor though is Thai with a twist. The name (Thai One On) suggests and in fact there is a full bar and interestingly the Karaoke is Thai too, with the lyrics spelled out in syllables as the video plays.

We went to help my daughter celebrate the beginning of spring break. I suspect we were annoying the customers who wanted a quiet dinner, but the servers were great fun and we had a good time.

Oh, and the rest rooms are a marvel. Deep turquoise tile. Very elegant and spotless.

We order take out here and dine inside with our north Seattle friends.  The food is decent and prepared quickly.  Curries are consistently good and noodle dishes are average.  They will actually make your food spicy if you ask.  It doesn't quite compare to the standard Thai places in Fremont, but it will quench your Thai craving.

Food was excellent, but we had to wait about 20 freaking minutes to get service despite the fact the joint was not even 1/3rds full.

The people next to us got served, and their food delivered even before we had a chance to order.

Food was pretty good, my partners dish was way too spicy (we both ordered medium).   I would go back but only if the place was empty so I could get quick service.

Having moved to Lake City from Fremont (home of 7 Thai Restaurants in about 2 blocks) I was happy that there was two Thai places nearby.  Thai One On has great food and interesting modern decor.  The food is so good in fact that the people at another Thai restaurant I used to go to near where I used to work told me about this place and how good it was.

The one major downfall of this place, and the reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is that the service is frequently slow, even when the place isn't busy.  If you don't mind sitting with an empty water glass for awhile though, it's a good place to fill up on some Thai food.

I revisited this old favorite again last night, and I'm glad that my memory served me well on how much I liked it.

The Larb Gai was packed with flavor and served with fresh spinach (Pop-eye would have been proud).

I always enjoy the different curries, and tonight was no exception. The helpings were generous, and I'm already getting excited for left overs for dinner! A big plus was that the waiter offered to give us extra rice to take home. Bonus! I don't have to break out the rice maker!

I've been to Thailand and while NOTHING can match the flavor of Thai street food (at ~$1-2 US), I felt this was darn good and relatively close to authentic. they have Thai items not normally found on mainstream US Thai joints.  It can be spicy for white breads.
Service can be slow...still on Thai time :)
I've tried many of the numerous Thai restaurants in Seattle and this one is good.
Please tell me what Thai restaurant you think is most authentic and what is your basis for this claim. I'd like to try it!

Thai food...  How I love thee. Thai One on.. how I love thy delivery.
stop me now! You know you like a restaurant when it is in your cell phone. When I have friends over, I can spend 35 bucks and feed us all.

Really nice inside actually http://www.youtube.com...

Our favorite dishes: Crab wontons, Panang Chicken, Pad See Ew, Chicken with vegetable and oyster sauce...The chicken satay was gross but it improved... now it is back on our order list and brought them back to a 5 star.

Happy ordering.... get them in your 5:-)

I'm no Thai food expert but I'm pretty sure I know a good Thai food place when I see one.  Thai One On is one of those places you wish you found a lot sooner (I wish I found it sooner than Siam's).  The lunch special is awesome--everything is at lunch is $6.95 and comes with yummy tofu soup and rice.  My favorite dish (next to the staple Beef Phad See Yew) is the Northern Thai Curry Noodles (Kao Soy) with beef.  Kao Soy is so deluxe.  If you want to try something different, that would be the dish to get.

Overall the service was great, and the food quality and portions are definitely worth the price.  If you're around the LC and you need something to eat for lunch, you won't be disappointed with this place.

i love thai one on.  i used to live near here and it is one of the few places on lake city worth going to.  ive taken a ton of people here, including many members of my extended family who haven't had much thai and everybody like it (except for my mom who ordered the orange chicken. but  why would anyone order orange chicken at a thai place?! weird.)

they have a $20 min for delivery which sucks but i would actually order two phad kee maos and an order of fresh rolls just to get it to my door.  but like always, i think thai food is much better in the restaurant than the takeout.  they've also raised their prices, but i suppose everywhere has done that...

i went here for lunch once and was disappointed.

I've frequented this place for dinner once and for lunch over a dozen times.  I've found the food and service consistently good.  Their lunch specials are superb, offering a wide choice of diverse Thai dishes.  I wasn't too impressed with the soft shell crab or crab won tons, but the garlic lunch is delicious if you like spicy and garlic flavors.  All noodle lunches equally good.  I'd rate Thai One On a notch above the other ubiquitous Thai places in Seattle.

I'm not a huge fan of Thai food, so take my 3-stars with a grain of salt. It's adequate food in semi-nice atmosphere.
