My family and I (total party of 9) came for my mom's birthday dinner. GREAT CHOICE!
It's a house alright! Very unique set up. People are especially friendly and accommodating.
We ordered TONS of food; pad Thai, spare ribs, pineapple fried rice, crab friend rice, yellow chicken curry, and about 4 other dishes that I cannot remember for the life of me. ALL DELICIOUS selections and good size portions. We had a complimentary deep fried bananas topped with ice cream and also ordered the white and black sticky rice with mango. AUH-MAY-ZING!
Will be back soon! -

HUGE letdown. Yelp failed me on this one. I came here with a coworker, and after reading the reviews I expecting something great. What we got was anything but.
One waitress was taking everyone in the restaurants orders, and I guess they don't allow the busboy to take orders. He was just walking around looking at everyone's tables and seemingly doing nothing. So about 30 minutes after sitting down we were finally able to place our order.
We'd read that the service could be slow so I decided to order an appetizer of angel wings. It took another 45 minutes before the angel wings came out. They were tiny beyond my ability to explain, overcooked to the point that the bones and the skin were of the same consistency, and some of the wings were half barren of meat.
30 minutes after we finished the appetizer my chicken pad see-ew arrived. The noodles were WAY overcooked. They had become completely saturated with the water and slimy. The veggies were the opposite: undercooked for my taste. The chicken was okay (I think), but it became the star of the dish because everything else was so completely terrible.
When I asked the waitress for the check that was the ONLY fast service I had of the night. We ended up sinking over two hours into this restaurant.
PROS:
The will bring you several cups of different spices if you request chili sauce with your meal.
Served hot.
CONS:
Poor service.
Poor food.
Poor environment. I felt like I was trapped in some old lady's sewing room.

Food is so-so but service is excellent for dinner. I felt a little weird sitting in a little room where the tables are so close to one another. Sit in the main dining area if you don't want to have to whisper your conversation.
Bathroom entrance is behind a curtain in a dark entrance.
Wine is a little overpriced.
Portions are conservative for the price but fresh.
I would have loved to say more positive things for a return visit but I really can't think of much else. -

I have nothing but good words for this place. This place is super accommodating for a vegetarian like me. This is how i order: no fish sauce, no oyster sauce, nothing to do with meat, chicken, eggs or fish, and they do a fantastic job and i love it!!!
Very nice ambiance, pleasing people around and good Thai food.
I have gone to this place on several occasions and at different times and this place has always satisfied me and the friends i take with me.
I hope they keep up the good works !!

We've been eating her for a few years and every time I go back, I'm reminded how wonderful this restaurant is. The owners and their staff treat all their customers like family (and not the "distant relatives/obligatory invite kind"). We are always greeted with a smile, served amazing food (try the combo appetizer and the yellow curry chicken), and are never forgotten about in between courses.
The lovely lady runs the front of the house and her husband cooks in the kitchen (kind of like eating at home, except that my dad doesn't know where the stove is).
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and well maintained. Their prices are reasonable, considering everything is always fresh, hot, and generously portioned.
I have delayed posting this recommendation only because I didn't want them to get so popular that I couldn't get a table...but that would be selfish of me...and this restaurant truly is a 5-star! -
Review from Toni M.
Today we met our friend Steve for a long intended, finally planned lunch. He chose the place and thus we ended up at Thai House. Tam had reviewed it a year ago and given it high marks, as had Katherine and Leah, w/ whom she had lunched there. I had forgotten that until I checked the Yelp reviews. They have a shared parking lot in back, but it was pretty much full when we arrived, so we parked on Front near Diablo and walked over.
The building really is a house, a sweet little house that has been embellished w/ lovely carved wood decorations in the corners of doorways and around the walls where they meet the ceiling. Steve said they worked on remodeling the house for about a year before opening about a decade ago. Alan and I looked at the specials board as we entered and were seated at a comfortable table for 4 in the front room to await Steve. We looked over the menu and found several interesting dishes. Price levels differ based on the protein or meat added to each dish. Spice levels range from mild to Thai spicy.
When Steve arrived we discussed spice levels and he graciously settled for mild rather than spicier. We ordered chicken curry puffs from the specials board, House Wraps, which were a mixture of ingredients wrapped in a lettuce leaf, and which we assumed would be like meang kum, pad se ew w/ chicken and seafood pineapple curry w/ brown rice. I had Thai iced tea, Steve had Thai iced coffee and Alan had water.
The chicken curry puffs arrived first. They were OK, not exciting though not bad, and we wouldn't order them again. The House Wraps were very different from meang kum, which contains a mixture of ingredients in spinach leaves, but they were delicious. They contained cold rice noodles, ground shrimp and a variety of other ingredients and they were dressed in a tasty sauce. The pad se ew was flavorful w/o being spicy, one of the best examples I've had of this dish. The seafood pineapple curry was red, distinctive, robust and wonderful in flavor while remaining mildly spiced. We were delighted w/ the quality of the food and would definitely return, maybe to try mild/medium spice. Service was warm, gracious and attentive.Listed in: My Danville List

Review from Bill W.
I had the clay pot chicken and prawns which was some of the best Thai food I've had since I got back from Thailand two years ago. It was amazing! Thai House is in this cute little house and it almost felt like a spa.
When you order something spicy they adjust it to your tolerance asking you on a 1-4 scale how much spice you like. From what I've seen, if you like a bit of spice but don't want to be spewing lava from your mouth, 2 is the number to pick.
The service is great and they didn't blink an eye when after we sat at our table for five, three more people showed up. Instead, she said, "how lucky you are! More people showed than you were expecting!" -

Really pleasantly suprised. Food and service were excellent.
Inside the decor is very pleasant, with gentle mood music playing softly in the background. Definitely will be eating here again -
Review from Lisa C.
My top favorite Thai restaurant in the area. The 'restaurant' is literally someone's house converted into a restaurant, where tables were sectioned off in different rooms. Space can be tight, especially in the "small room" where two small tables were set . We sat in that small room with another party of 4, so we all spoke softly, but it was hard not to eavesdrop on the other table. If you're looking for a place to be rowdy for a large group, this isn't exactly it. Rather, expect to come here to have a nice, calm dinner.
The appetizer platter was a great way to start, as it had at least 4 different things to try. I loved the crab fried rice, and it actually had crab meat in it! We also shared the chicken with veggies(tomatoes, baby corn, bell peppers) in a sweet sour sauce. Dishes were a good portion and even had leftovers to-go.
The staff was super nice and down to earth, and they definitely deserve a good 4 stars! Will definitely be back. -

What a diamond in the rough! I never knew this place was here until I was in BevMo and saw their van parked on the street. A few weeks later I decided to come and try it out, and boy was it amazing. I literally can not stop thinking about the basil chicken. You are instructed to choose the spiciness of your dish on a 1-4 scale of hotness. The BF and I both thought we could handle 3 until our server gave us a stern warning: "Thai hot NOT American hot," so we ended up going with the 2. Good thing because it was SPICY!
I'm dreaming of the day I will go back. Maybe tomorrow... -

My review comes with a story....
I have been to this place two times, and the first time was because of their good reviews. Both trips were to pick up take out, so I cannot review the experience or service as a sit down guest inside the restaurant.
The first time I came here to pick up my food I walked in to a very angry customer who was complaining about not receiving his food in the time promised. He waited for at least 10 minutes longer while I was there, and then eventually demanded a refund on the food because he was fed up. I think I may have been distracted by the man in this instance, because I don't have a good idea of how long I waited. The only thing I remember about my first trip was that the food was pretty good. They ask you what kind of spicy you want, and based on my request, they did a pretty good job making it as spicy as I had asked for. The yellow curry was pretty good, as was the pad thai. I always order both of these things when I go to Thai restaurants, and this place pleased my pallet just fine.
WELL, let's move onto the second visit. The visit where I decided that I will never ever go back.... I now became that man who was none too pleased with the service OR food. I would have thought they were having an "off" day if I hadn't witnessed the guy the last time, and also been discussing the long wait with the girl next to me waiting, who let me know it's happened to her every time. I was told when I called in that it would be 20 minutes until my food was ready, so I walked in after about 25, and my food was not ready. I was quickly ushered to the front of the restaurant to wait for my take out by a not so friendly woman, and then sat waiting for 50 (yes, five zero) MORE MINUTES. Now, in my opinion this is completely unacceptable, and I agree with anyone who is thinking that I should have just walked out, but I didn't..... I waited.... I think part of me waited just out of curiosity on how long it could possibly take. Well 50 minutes later, without anyone checking in on me one single time, I received my food. I don't know of anyone else's experience with the take out wait other than the man on my first visit, the woman I met on this visit, and my own, but I have never ever waited so long for food (which usually comes quickly at most Thai restaurants) in my life. To top it off, once I got home to eat my curry and pad thai, it was much more bland than I remembered it being the first time. Maybe it was because of the terrible impression I was left it at the restaurant, but I do NOT intend to go back and see if that was the case.
Food was OK. Yellow curry was watery on visit # 2. The pad thai was OK. Prices were high anyway, but of course much too high for the poor experience I had.
I do not recommend this place for take out, nor do I ever plan on trying it as a sit down restaurant anytime in the future. I gave it more than one star only because my first experience was not as horrible as the second. GOOD LUCK! -

Absolutely the best Thai food in the Tri-Valley and LAMORINDA area.
Don't be overwhelmed by their extensive Menu. We had been going to this place for more than 6 yrs and we have yet to point out a bad Entree.
The service has always been good. I've even had a chance to see the kitchen to see if its clean. And yes it is!
The owners - Marissa and Sam run it themselves, so ther is a personal touch to management. Marissa is a Nurse and is particular about any kind of bacterial cross contamination -

Food not too bad, but bit disappointed when going there for their 4+ star rating. Their Panang Curry was good. But the famous Drunk Noodle (according to other reviewers) is quite a disappointment.
My son tried out Mango Chicken, and he's very happy about it. I tried it, I would give it a A-,worth to try out.
The Deco was great. Like a family back in SE Asia. But the service was pretty bad. Very slow. I mean REALLY slow. After dinner, we asked for the bill, from the moment that I became aware that it had taken too long to the time the bill finally arrived, it's another 6 minutes. So I would say, it merely took them 10 minutes to get a bill ready. Obviously, they didn't even walk out to the dinning area durin this 10 minutes.
Food is good. But no necessary the best in tri-valley. Go try out the Little Home Thai next to Trader Joe's in Pleasanton, it's better there. One hint for those who look for authentic good Thai: during the nearly 2 hr that we were there, total 9 groups of guests and 2 to-go orders, we were the only Asian there. So make a guess. In Little Home Thai, always have half guests speak local asian languages.
Oh, last point, the price is a good 1-2 bucks higher than other good Thai in tri-valley -

I'm in love with this place. The staff is very friendly, although food can sometimes take a little while to come out of the kitchen (even take out). But the food is the most authentic Thai food I've ever had outside of Thailand. The pad Thai with chicken is amazing, and the sweet sticky rice dessert is to die for. Also be sure to try the cucumber salad. Honestly, I have yet to have a disappointing meal here, and I've been going down the menu!
Just remember the kitchen can be a bit slow when they are busy, but it's worth the wait! -

The food, the place, and the service are all outstanding
So this is a very cozy nicely decorated converted house. How they did the interior design is pretty clever with the various rooms and motifs. Just nicely done!
Service was great. They were funny and informative and efficient.
The food is awesome. Definitely must must must have the panang curry.. Actually everything else we've tried has been so good. And they do mean spicy when they say spicy..Yes! -

Who would have thunk there was a Thai restaurant nestled in Downtown Danville?
The location and decor on the inside did not disappoint--seemed as authentic as I have seen for Thai restaurants (but what do I know?). Glad that we called in a reservation because when the person on the phone said "We're going to start to get busy...", she wasn't kidding!
I was expecting big things from Thai House as it has a 4.5 star rating over close to 100 reviews. Don't get me wrong, overall the food was good. Just one dish was disappointing.
The tom yum goong soup was good--had the right note of sweet/sour and a spicy kick. The waiter said they do 1-4 stars versus 1-3 to truly cater to how much you can handle. Well noted. They also gave a decent amount of shrimp.
The fried catfish and vegetables were also tasty. The fish itself had excellent flavor. However, the Thai red curry chicken was a let down and this is why I give Thai House an average rating. Chicken is cheap, so how could this dish have more bamboo slices than chicken? I was tempted to tell the waitress but held back. I'm fine with paying standard prices, but $10.95 for chicken curry that ends up being 80% vegetables? No thanks.
I'll stick to the local joints I enjoy in WC. -

LOVE.
This place is located in a house (not a strip mall or multi-front building) on Rose st. Kind of off the beaten path, but worth the extra steps. Finding parking might be a challenge- worse comes to worse, you can park in the clocktower lot and walk.
I had the friendliest service I've ever had at Thai house. The food was also top notch- I had the pad kee mao and it was nice and spicey (and I only ordered it at a 2 out of 4 on the spiciness scale). My friend had the Mansaman Gai and also had rave reviews. And the prices are also completely reasonable!
Thai house is a nice find- a real local gem, the place you can keep in your back pocket for when friends drop into town. Also a nice change from the typical french-new american-napa fare that you'll find on the main drag. -

I first came here upon recommendation from a coworker, and he had found this place through great reviews on yelp. I have always ordered the crab fried rice from here because that's what was recommended, and I'm afraid to veer away from it. They use a ton of real crab, although it's definitely frozen. The flavor of the fried rice is just so yummy though. If you add some of that dark chili powder they provide, it's the perfect blend of sweet, tasty, and appetite enhancing! I've also come here with large groups from work, and they're very accomodating.
The place is thoroughly Thai with its authentic memorabilia and decorations that bring me back to my vacation days in Bangkok. From the outside, it's a quaint cottage, and the staff there match that image with their famous thai hospitality. I feel like a member of their family every time I come back. -
Review from Tim Y.
Reading all the great reviews for this place put this on the "to try" list. Seeing the place packed at 9pm was a good sign.... unfortunately, that's where the good thoughts ended....
Called 15 minutes ahead for a togo order....ended up waiting another 20-25min when we arrived :(
I've been to a lot of Thai Restaurants and I'm sad to say that this place is horrible. I don't give out a lot of bad reviews but I couldn't help it this time.
Ordered panang curry with tofu and chicken pad see ew. The curry was watery! Literally the consistency of water. Did they forget a few key ingredients or something? It just didn't taste right...they also piled on the green bell peppers which overpowered everything. Every spoonful tasted like green peppers....there was no curry taste.
The pad see ew had a very strange taste/flavor to it. I can't explain it but it was not what this signature dish should taste like.... The chicken was dry and they were pretty cheap on the broccoli.
Maybe it was a one-off day and mine was a unique experience.... but I will definitely not be back.... -

I am systematically trying out every thai restaurant near my work to see who makes the best thai food in the area. Normally I am looking in the San Ramon locale, but Thai house is close enough for consideration.
The good:
I called to get the food to go, and the young lady who answered the phone was extremely nice and helpful. They do their spice levels on the 1-4 star system, and she was nice enough to warn me that 4 stars is "Thai level hot which is hotter than most other kinds of food." I ordered Pad Kee Mao (drunk noodle) wiht Tofu at **** spice level and Som Tam (Green papya salad) at ***. The food was ready when I arrived and was still warm. The Som Tam was as good as any I have had anywhere, and the drunk noodle was very good, but still not the absolute best I have ever had. I really like spicy food and can handle most any spice you throw at me. For my taste, the three stars was about perfect providing a strong chili punch while not interfering with the foods other flavors. The 4 star heat level was a little too much heat for the other flavors in the dish - maybe it would have tasted better with a stronger flavored curry, but the gentler flavors on the noodles didn't stand up very well to it.
the bad:
Nothing really.
The mediocre:
nothing.
Overall:
Very good food and very friendly phone take-out person. I'll have to dine in here sometime to see how the table service is, but this is probably in the top three of Thai restaurants for the area. Will definitely go again. -

I am not a real fan of Thai food, but will every once in a while venture out of my food bubble and try it.
I had the pleasure of dining here with three of my favorite lunch ladies (now a foursome due to a birth this week) and I am so glad I agreed to come here.
The restaurant itself is adorable-in a small house and laid out nicely. We were the first to arrive and our server (maybe the owner too) was fabulous. Kind, accommodating, funny and very kid friendly. The place rings of "class act" all around and the food was fantastic. I will be back and can't wait to introduce my BFF to this place as Thai is her absolute favorite! -

Decided to go here for lunch after reading enough positive reviews about this place. Upon walking in, we were greeted promptly by the host and seated in the main room. The place is decorated like I assume a native Thai person's house would be, lots of trinkets of elephants and buddhas. The place was totally empty besides me and one other table that was seated in another adjacent room. About 15 minutes after I ordered my Beef Pad Thai, I was greeted by our waitress that informed me that they were out of beef! What? Your out of beef an hour after you open your doors for business? It's not like it special beef flown in from Thailand, get your ass to grocery store and buy some meat! I did enjoy the chicken that I eventually was serve, which is the only thing saving this review from one star. It'll take a lot to get me to come back here with so many other good Thai spots around.

Best thing about this place is that they will make just about any item they normally put fish sauce in without the fish sauce for vegetarians! Their curry is delicious and so is their pad thai. If they had Thai Roti This place would be my go to Thai restaurant. For now it's the best Local Thai place.

It had been a long time since I've been here. There are just too darn many options in Danville! We used to pick up Thai food often for take-out. Last night I came here with a group of 5. They sat us in the back in a private room. It was so great! The place is literally a home and you feel like you are dining in someone's living room. So charming!
Our server was a hoot! At one point we invited her to have a seat and enjoy drinks with us. She gave us honest recommendations based on the entrees we chose. She suggested that since a couple of us were not fans of spicy food, that we leave off the chilis and apply them to our meals individually.
We ordered the lettuce wraps and the fresh prawn rolls for appetizers. I really liked the lettuce wraps, so refreshing. For our entrees we ordered a green curry chicken dish, the pork with eggplant dish, and a prawn claypot dish. Our server gave us a warning about the prawn claypot dish informing us that it tasted a bit "earthy". We really appreciated that she was so honest with us. We decided to go with it anyways and I actually really liked the flavor, although not everyone did.
We enjoyed a very pleasant evening in our private room. I am definitely going to make an effort to go back more often. -

This place is adorable...and serves fresh, yummy food!! But best of all, they are super kid-friendly!!
DD, DGD and our dear friend hooked up today...and gave Thai House a try.
I loved my shrimp with asparagus and onions...the orange sauce was light and savory, just a hint of sweet. It came with rice, and a great salad....silly me, I forgot to ask fro brown rice!!
Prices are reasonable...$8-10 for lunch specials. Service was wonderful.
The other ladies ordered the Pad Thai...and I will let them tell you what they thought.
From the minute we stepped in, I felt our darling 2 year old was welcomed....high chair came right away, along with orange slices, a cute plastic kid service. Our server/owner(?) was so attentive, coaxing her to eat a good lunch, and she could have a balloon. More oranges, and then the biggest surprise of all...he made her a balloon animal...and drew a face on it....so special!! Needless to say, we all had a great time.
We will be back!Listed in: DGDs Welcomed!!

The ladies had a lovely lunch here! I was so impressed with how kid-friendly the restaurant was. Not only did they have a special plate/silverware and cup for my 2-year old, but they brought her orange slices instead of a salad. The waiter also encouraged her to eat well because he had a balloon for her. Turned out he made her a balloon animal and even took the time to draw the eyes on per DD's request :)
Now on to the adult part of the meal...I had had a Thai iced-tea and pad thai. The pad thai was enormous and wonderful (DD loved it as well). I had the combo, and there was tasty tofu (my fave), shrimp, beef, pork and chicken. It tasted very fresh and was not greasy. They also do not put MSG in any of their food. The service was attentive and prompt.
We will definitely return, as any place that treats my daughter so nicely AND has great food is worth it in my book! -

It's always interesting to go to a place that's exactly like how it was rated. Then again, we've only started going to Danville in the last 6 months. Anyway, this place was excellent. We came here for an early Mother's day dinner. The service was impeccable -- not pushy like one of the reviewers alluded to. Then again, you don't go to a place right before it closes, and take your sweet time about it. I digress. The food was definitely above average in my book, and I should know, having eaten Thai for most of my life. The only negative was that it was pricey. We're definitely not at Chili Cha Cha in the Lower Haight. The decor was Haute Danville aka country cute. It was charming, but I wasn't ga-ga over it.
I was going to give it a "4", but the priciness compels me to give it just a "3" It wasn't a "4" experience for me which is a combination of good food, service, decor and last but not least, price. -

Yes there is Thai food in Danville if you can believe it. I think is is a house converted to a restaurant. It is not too big but the decor is great and they treat you like family. The food is very "Thai" and it is HOT. This is a good little place and you have to try it if you are in the area.

Didn't think anything of the food at all.. Didn't take half my pad Thai to go.. My Indian palate is just accustomed to more flavor in my food.. I'd rather drive fm Danville to Pleasant hill (Thai Osha) or Dublin (Basil Thai) for better Thai food any day.. The place is interesting (considering it's in a house) but the food was below average.. I don't know I am sick :( maybe we'll skip.. Not sureif this is authentic Thai cuisine - and perhaps I prefer my Americanized version - but this is not for me at all.. Sorry, but not for me..

Nice hidden surprise that's been here under our noses for awhile. We have our usual haunts for Dville, but I'm all about trying something different and sometimes that means doing it without venturing to far from home. Don't get me wrong some nights I'm all over a trip to Oakland or SF, but tonight my little hood was just fine.
And as usual this is the typical Man/Woman where to go for dinner convo:
Me: So where do you want to go for dinner?
Him: I don't know, what do you feel like eating?
Okay, don't answer my question with a question, dude? Plus I asked first....So fine I look on yelp tonight for help and this has tons of reviews and it's close and we've parked by it I don't know how many times to walk downtown. So Thai House it is, and I had skipped lunch it my travels for the day so it's 5:30 and I'm starved. We don't make a reservation but figure it should be okay.
No problem on Friday night we walk in and are seating in the front room by the window. Very ornate decor and inviting. The gentleman who seats us is attentive and gets us drinks. Then gets our order quickly (as I'm about to eat the table), we start with a curry chicken puff app. Those little pastry pies were really delicious and lightly spiced with a cucumber salad type garnish to eat with your puff.
I ordered the yellow curry chicken (medium spice) perfectly spiced for me, not too hot but definitely with a good kick. It was very good, I've had it many places and it was decent (though it had a lot of bell peppers, maybe too many. but that's just me maybe). My husband ordered some chicken dish too that had cashews and broccoli and he thought it was supposed to be spicy. Though the waiter didn't ask him the level of spiciness on his, and when his came it was very mild. I think he was kind of disappointed so he helped me eat mine. It was good, but reminded me more of Chinese food being it was so mild.
The service was fantastic and very friendly. My jasmine tea was lovely with my meal. Very nice, and I'd probably eat here again if I'm feeling the need for thai close by! -
