This place is great! I came here with a friend and was amazed at the number of different options, all of which seemed healthy and delicious (and relatively authentic, although I'm certainly not an expert). Plus the waitress was able to give us great recommendations.

The only down-side is it's a small and quiet building, and there are mirrors all around so you kind of awkwardly look at yourself while eating.

I've been to this place quite a few times and I've never experienced bad service. It's a small, but cozy restaurant. When the place gets crowded, the service tends to slow down a bit, but I don't mind too much since the food more than makes up for it.

For appetizers, I always order the fried wontons. They come filled with ground chicken and a sweet and sour dipping sauce. For entrees, I usually go with what I get at any Thai restaurant, pad-see-ewe or pad thai. Thai Family's recipes are one of my favorites. As for drinks, their Thai tea boba is almost unfairly delicious. The boba, in my experience, has never been over/undercooked and they never skimp out on it like at other restaurants.

Again, if it's crowded, understand that it's crowded for a reason.

Basics of owning a business: getting your customers orders right.

Ordered, and was charged, for two kinds of meat in the Pad Thai (shrimp+chicken) only got shrimp.

And THAT, is another story: the shrimp are terribly over-cooked, gritty (which is a first for me, I didn't know shrimp could be gritty) and rubbery.

The Pad Thai itself was awful. Too sweet, no flavor other than SUGAR and all the noodles were stuck together like a giant block of glue noodles. So disappointing :(

The BF ordered the Panang curry, and it was delicious! Slightly sweet, smooth, full of complex flavors, and just a little bit of heat. Definitely delicious.

I want to go back and try something else, because obviously I just ordered the wrong thing... but how the hell can a Thai place f'ck up Pad Thai so much??  Ah well...

Went here based on the stellar reviews.  Yelp don't lie (well sometimes it misses the mark)....  They have some BOMB thai food here... seriously the Tom Kha Kai soup was one of the best I've ever had...  I dream about that soup...  and their pad thai is on point.   I'm like clear on the other side of southern california but I'm trying to figure out a way to get my butt back near the boonies of Upland just so I can eat here again.

One of the few solid choices in the I.E. for thai food. I've been here numerous times now and each time I visit I'm greeted with the same friendly service. I think they have one of the best lunch and dinner specials around town. You get the perfect amount for the price you pay. Also, I think they're recipes to the standard thai dishes taste much better than other thai restaurants around town. It's definitely worth a try. Be careful though because its a small mom&pop restaurant so it tends to fill up pretty fast around lunch time.

I am liking my new Thai Family!! I am so glad they have accepted me because they are good cooks!  And they don't charge me alot for the food!

On my first visitation with my Thai Family we ate...family style. We shared chicken satay, pad thai, pineapple fried rice and panang curry.

I will keep in mind that even when I requested of my Thai Family no spice because my kids don't like it, it still had some heat.

I like the heat.  In fact, when ordering for myself I often go all the way (Thai hot or Maximum Spice (the long lost Spice Girl)) and I even have added the wicked hot Thai chili's on occasion.

But I'm ok with my Thai Family being a little spicy even when I say no.  I think they know when my no really means yes...gently.

First of all, this place is small, quaint, yet cozy. You can feel the family love  in the small restaurant. There's usually only one Thai female serving the whole restaurant, yet it didn't bother me at all.

    We ate (All were amazing)
    1. Pad Thai
    2. Spicy shrimp with snow peas
    3. Vegetable dish
    4. Yellow curry

We don't ever order the special because family style is soo much more fun and cheaper! Please support the local restaurant!

I've been coming here since my family moved to Upland. My mom and I are regulars and cone here sometimes 3G a week!  I love it, the servers are always so great and the food is GREAT. Great portions, great prices!

My favorites are: Thai iced tea, mussaman curry or the panang, if your not into curry the combination fried rice is excellent!

Wow! This place was awesome! Who would expect such great Thai food from a strip mall in Upland? I ordered some food to go and it was ready in about 10 minutes.

I had the yellow curry chicken, mint leaves beef, garlic chicken, and egg rolls. Everything was fabulous.

My parents wrote down everything we got so they could order it again, and they usually aren't Thai food eaters. That says a lot.

I'm a big fan. We stopped here on our way home from Riverside, and what a good choice it was. This is a small, hole in the wall joint with a leaky toilet, but who cares. The food is delicious and ridiculously cheap. We ordered 2 lunch specials (yellow curry & pad thai), and that plus our huge "small" Thai iced teas came out to less than $20. BONKERS!
Will definitely stop here again if we are in the area.

Being from Vegas, I wanted to try the Thai food in the San Diego area.  Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try anything there, but we did try Thai Family in Upland, and I am glad we did!  This was a surprising little find with very decent Thai food.

I was initially impressed when I noticed there was no soy sauce on the tables.  Almost every Thai restaurant in Vegas has soy sauce on the tables!  We were greeting by the cheerful and smiling face of Pam, who offered us A+ service.  We ordered the.Duck Curry ($8.96), and Spicy Seafood ($10.95), both spicy and "Thai style".

The Duck Curry was impressive.  Littered in pineapples, peppers, carrots, and very soft and delicious slices of duck.  The duck meat was also very lean, and I think that the quality of this meat is better than it generally is in Vegas.  The curry sauce tasted homemade to me, and I asked Pam to verify that... and she did.  It was light in the taste, soupy, oh so slightly sweet.  It was a red curry, but the color was more yellow-orange.  That is a good sign because a lot of the really red red curries are from a can!  The homemade flavors were light, but pleasing.

The Spicy Seafood was an extremely great dish, very spicy and very different than what I am used to in Thai food.  It was the closest thing they had to one of our favorite dishes called Pad Cha, which we asked about.  The heat was more of a front of the mouth kind of heat, rather than the lingering heat of typical Thai dishes.  The sauce was well executed, lightly sweet but very flavorful.  The seafood was excellent compared to Vegas seafood.  The squid was very soft and easy to chew.  The mussels, shrimp, and fish were all tasty.  My only complaint was that they used big chunks of imitation crab.  There's really nothing wrong with that, but this dish would have been worthy of 5 stars if they had used big chunks of real crab.

Overall, this is a nice little authentic Thai restaurant.  A big thanks goes to the Yelpers before me who wrote such wonderful reviews about this place.  The service was excellent, and the food was excellent too.  I only wish I could come back on a regular basis to try their other dishes.

Thai Family is probably my favorite Thai place around here. The prices are fair and the food is delicious. The service is also good and in my experience incredibly fast. My favorite dishes are the Pad Thai, the chicken is tender and it tastes amazing. I also love the Panang Curry, so good! By the time I leave I am pleasantly full and satisfied. Definitely a great place to go when you get the chance.

I love Thai food and seeing as I'm new to the area me and the boyfriend decided to try Thai Family for lunch. Loved the Thai ice tea, it was spot on. We split an order of steamed dumplings, not a single complaint, the fresh ginger in the dipping sauce gave it a fantastic kick. The boyfriend had the Pad Thai as they were out of Magic string beans. He thought it was killer, it didn't taste like a jar of JIFF, it was well seasoned and balanced. The Tom Yung Goong (Hot and sour shrimp soup) was great, could have had a little more heat, that aside the flavor was dead on. I ordered the bowl as opposed to the hot pot, I wasn't sure what the portioning was going to be (next time I order the pot). After destroying my soup I ate the boyfriends salad he didn't want and tried the fried rice, no complaints. We will definitely be making this our new home for Thai food.

Yummy food in a quaint atmosphere and the nicest people. The food was tasty but for some odd reasons, the food was a little on the greasy side. I LOVE their Pad See Ew (flat rice noodles) noodles with chicken, It contained only about 3 very small brocolli flowerettes and was a little oily.
It's definitely worth ordering again and it's suitable for those who cannot tolerate peanuts. The texture was great and genorous portion.

We also ordered 2 lunch specials: BBQ chicken and cashew chicken. It came with tasty fried rice and a fried wonton which was merely the skin with nothing inside. The dressing is tasty but not the best I've had.

I highly do recommend trying this place. The prices are fair, great service, and tasty food.

Best thai food ever!!!! The staff is very attentive and friendly.  Been there twice and they always have a crowd and the food is always amazing.  The lunch and dinner specials are very reasonably priced.  The food is seasoned perfectly.  The spicy dishes are indicated and are spicy without being over the top.  The non-spicy dishes are just very flavorful.  My husband and I have tried multiple dishes there, and all were perfect.

Awesome!!! The best green curry beef I've ever had! It had a nice hint of thai chili that kicked up the heat just enough. The curry came with chopped carrots, chinese broccoli, napa cabbage, zucchini, and bok choy. It was accompanied by a heaping bowl of jasmine rice, an egg roll, and a cup of thai onion soup! We also had fried tofu as an appetizer which came with sweet & sour sauce and I added a dab of SriRacha with garlic. Quaint ambiance. Fast service, especially considering how busy it was. Perfect date spot, or a good place to go for lunch with your friends while suffering a severe hangover! It cleans out the toxins in your system! I was shocked how cheap this place was. If I were still in the Twin Cities' this same meal would have literally been twice as expensive!!!
Just to rip off Sawatdee, "Thai it, You'll like it!!!!!"

Thai Family is a cozy little restaurant in Upland. There is a major shortage of quality thai food in the IE so I am always looking out for something solid. This is a casual, nice and clean restaurant with interesting Thai inspired artwork.

    We ordered the following:
    Pad Thai - Pretty good
Beef Panang - Too watered down. I'd have prefered it more rich
    Mint Chicken - Slightly bland
Mango w/ Sticky Rice - Delicious

The prices were cheap, with every plate being 7 or 8 dollars. The service was fantastic... the food came out in minutes.

Overall I would recommend it if you're local and are really craving Thai cuisine.

Meh....Average place. Taste is what is expected.

Food: So so , nothing to impressive that will open your eyes.

Atmosphere: Pretty chill, they got the Thai music playing the back ground, inside looks Thai enough, but again, nothing to spectacular.

Location: Nice shopping area, but i had to really push myself to go inside. I have lived in the area for 7 years now and this is my first time trying it, due the the fact that Rubios, a hot dog place, and many other known eateries are in the vicinity.

Service: I walked in and heard them talk and laugh in the back, took about a minute and a half for them to realize i was in the front (they could use a buzzer) other than that, service was good.

Sanitation: didnt really notice much, kinda just wanted to eat and leave. seemed ok though.

Overall: Just and average place to eat thai food, however in the future I most likely will not return on my own.

Tired of my family getting crappy Thai food in Montclair-Upland area. So I decided to find a good place. This restaurant had pretty good reviews, so I ordered out some Mussamon curry, and Panang Curry with some papaya salad and some shrimp fried rice. Everything is very tasty and the portions were generous. I think their prices are fair and competitive. The only gripe I had, was the shrimp in the fried rice didn't taste fresh.

Thai Family is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the area for several reasons:

    1. The food is cheap. You can order a lunch combo, plus a Thai iced tea, and your total would be around $10;
    2. The staff are friendly and attentive;
    3. There's almost never a wait, so it's great for lunch if you work nearby.

Personally, I love their curries (red and green are good, but yellow is my favorite). Each color has its own aromas and flavors and is spicy to a certain degree. If you come with a group, it's fun to have each person order a different colored curry and then try them all. I'm glad this place is in Upland because it's really a great place to stop by for a light and delicious meal.

Been eating here for a LONG time. It's close to my parents' old house/where my bro now lives. WAY better than the other options in the area.

The prices are SO reasonable for what you get. The lunch specials are served every day. For $5.95, you get a main dish (curry, pad thai, etc), rice (fried or white), 2 fried wontons, and salad.

Their green curry is fantastic. Their yellow is fantastic. Their Tom Yum Kai is OK (too greasy for my taste). Thier BBQ chicken is fantastic. In short, everything is fantastic.

The service can be slow but that's usually bc it's a family operation - I think it's the daughter who takes care of the service.

Good Thai Iced Teas - perfectly sweetened for my taste. Check it out!

Cheap dinner and good pad thai is all I need in life. Mix that with the BEST thai iced tea in town and you have thai family.

Don't do family style here - this is the best place to go if you want your own perfect size meal with salad, soup, and a side! It is the best deal in town for lunch or dinner and everything is made fresh.

The decor is not too great, the ambiance is typical inland empire, but the food and the adorable women who work there (and the potential to watch Judge Judy while eating thai food) makes this place a true winner. (no seriously, I watched judge judy all the time.)

It may not be the highest quality thai in the area but it is the best deal for individual meals and non-family style dining.
