Go to dish, Pad Kee Mao did not disappoint. [Note: Their version includes 1 inch length bites of green beans. I'm not really one to turn down more vegetables so it was a welcome addition.] Level two spicy had my nostrils cleared. Portions are huge, even for this big-eyed girl so I understand why it's a little more pricey than the other Thai places here. Definitely enough for lunch and dinner.
Positive experience leaves me hopeful to come back and try more dishes. -

This is great cheap thai although on the americanized side. For apps the soft spring rolls and wings of paradise are great choices. If you are a fan of Pad Kee Mow definately give it a try here. Food can be ordered between 1 and 5 peppers (although they will accept a higher number if you are bold) Very cheap for great quality. Just be sure to get there early if going for lunch as it gets rather busy after 12.
If I have one gripe it would be consistency. While I generally know what to expect there have a been a few times where things came out with slight ingredient variations. -

It's a cute little restaurant tucked away in a shopping center next to Marble Slabs. I always drive past it and finally decided to give it a try.
Spring rolls- it was delicious but nothing special.
Tom Kha- it was a veggie soup that was spectacular. I really enjoyed the light but creamy flavor.
Red Curry- I didn't taste a whole lot of curry but it was good. We got the 3rd spiciness and it was hot but nothing lingering.
I would love to go back and try some more of their dishes! -

The first half dozen times i went here I really enjoyed it. the only complaint was a dish was super spicey when I asked for no spicey. The last 3 times it has not been as good. They have a new chef and his way of making pad thai noodles is not as good. It tastes more like a tomato base. It was also bland. The last time people who got there after me and my party got their food faster. I had to ask 3 times for a cucumber salad and it was still wrong per request. The positives are the Tom Kha soup is good. They do give you a lot for the lunch special. But, I am looking for a new Thai place. Any suggestions?

For cheap, quick, and somewhat Americanized thai food go here. I can handle spice level 3, and I'm not that hardcore.
ALSO, you can sub vegetables for the rice in your curry. I know that sounds sacrilegious, but it makes a delicious meal. -

The only thing I like about this place is atmosphere. Asides from it, nothing really! there is not much to say about the food. My bar for Thai food is high therefore I do not want to say much, it would be like exaggerating. I wish the food here is half decent of the service, if that the case, I'll return.

I don't see the huge attraction of this place. I know several people that just love eating here. To me, the food here needs more heat(spice) and seasoning.
Last time here I had a curry puff appetizer and a beef curry with vegetables. The curry puffs were crisp and brown on the outside, yet cold in the middle. This suggests to me they were frozen and the kitchen hasn't mastered how to tell when they are completely done. The beef dish was OK, the beef and veggies were good but the dish just seemed to lack the fullness of flavor I get at the better Thai places in Houston. I don't refuse to go here, but I would never pick it on my own. -

I've actually eaten at the Richmond location, just not recently. This particular food adventure was a take out order that my friend brought into town for us. I got the Gai Kua for 8.95 with flat rice noodles scrambled with chicken and egg served on fresh lettuce. The serving was large enough for two meals for me and it was great.
It was a great dish that I've never gotten before. I usually don't venture far from Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. I also got to try the wings. They were okay. Nothing special like what I get at Tony Thai. The egg rolls were large and also nothing special. They were all edible just not special.
As a food only review, good Gai Kua dish, with mediocre appetizers. -

I had not been to Thai Cottage before. The place was packed for lunch but the wait for a table was short. Service was very good.At one point three waitresses were filling my tea glass, taking my order and diverting the "I was popular in High School" drama club at the next table.I always get spring rolls, they cut them in half and place them in a circle on a platter with the peanut sauce in the middle. The rolls were nicely chilled and the sauce was a little thicker than most and very tasty. For the main course I went with ginger chicken. Number three seemed to be perfect for heat range Although I needed the last spring roll to finish the last few pieces of chicken.
Next time I will try the Bellaire location. -

Like 99.9% of Asian restaurants in the area, where is the authenticity? If you want actual Thai tasting Thai food, try Thai Seafood a few blocks away.

The food is excellent and there is great service to boot. They are great at letting you customize for special dietary needs. The heat for spicy goes level 1-5 and I've had the four... It brought tears to my eyes (as I had hoped lol).
The crispy rolls rock and you'll want your own order with extra sauce.
You can't go wrong with the spicy fried rice- doesn't matter what meat, they're all great!
My personal favorite is the Pad Kee Maw. The rice noodles are always cooked perfectly and the veggies are never soggy. I get tofu instead of meat because I love the super firm bits of tofu that soak up the tasty sauce.
if you want chicken, try the wings of paradise or the basil chicken. You will be in heaven. They are both so flavorful and you will appreciate the taste of the Thai basil.
One caveat: they close for a couple of hours between lunch and dinner. So make sure to get there before three for lunch!
I'm so sad that we moved and can't go anymore!!!! -

Nice atmosphere, consistently good food, this has been a favorite of ours since we've lived in the area. Their lunch specials are excellent and their curry is delicious, whether you go with yellow, red, pinapple, I've had all of them several times and they are always good.
Other favorite dishes are the pad ke mow (a hot noodle dish), or if you're up for something more meaty, the tiger cry and ribs are quite good. We usually finish up with a sticky rice with custard, which I'd also suggest you try if you go in. They have sticky rice with mango, but be sure to order only peak season for mangos or you may be disappointed.
The service here is generally quite courteous and usually good. It can amass a significant line (including outside) of folks waiting for dinner or right at the lunch hour, but the wait usually isn't too bad.
All dishes can be spiced on a 1-5 scale. Some things like the curries are spiced with a chilli paste which doesn't max out that insanely hot, since they just add a little scoop per number. Other things are spiced with chili oil (like the pad ke mow) and can be genuininely painful if ordered above 3, so don't assume that if you like it really hot for a curry you'll want it super hot for everything else. :)
Price-wise, this place used to be a real deal. They have recently revised their menu and bumped the prices of everything a up a couple of dollars (curries were 7 bucks, now 9). Definitely still reasonable for the quality of food and service, but not quite the bang for the buck that it was.
We love this place and frequently run into other friends who've had the same idea on that particular day. Worth a try if you're in the area or live in the neighborhood! -

I have been here before but had not been in a while. I bought a Groupon for Thai Cottage and decided to use it last week. Going there again made me wonder why it had taken so long for me to come back.
I LOVE the food here and the lunch specials can not be beat! For around $6 you get a fried spring roll, soup or salad, and an entree. This is what we had:
Spicy Wings of Paradise: I could literally bathe in this sauce. These wings are the yummiest wings I have ever had (mainly because of the sauce.) Tip: If you are going to order these, do it as soon as you sit down because they take longer to make than a typical appetizer.
Red Curry: Great. I have had many Red Curries and this is one of my favs. They put a lot of Bamboo Shoots which I love.
Pad Thai: Great. Some of my friends do not think it is authentic enough but I do not care about authenticity as long at is tastes good.
My only complaint is that it takes kind of a long time to get your food sometimes so we won't go if we are in a rush to eat.
We will be back very soon. -

My first introduction to Thai food. I love the soft spring rolls (chicken or shrimp).

Here's a great example of a restaurant that's doing something right.
Before I get to the food, let me get some other minor things out of the way -
The decor is nice inside, inviting and the staff is very friendly. They recently have invested in nicer-looking menus and better take-away containers that seal shut properly (the old containers were the clam-shell-style white Styrofoam that always tended to leak out liquids - a mild annoyance when driving back with take away). They have also upgraded their website for easy menu-browsing and location-choosing. It's a definite improvement over their old site with eye-catching colors and easy-to-use interface.
The Food, yes food food food - I actually have to say that I have enjoyed everything that I have ordered here. The food is always fresh, and the lunch specials are really reasonable (although I did notice that prices have gone up a bit). Try the Pad Thai, or the Princess Chicken or Shrimp. Have a Thai Iced Tea - they are great. One of my wife's favorites is Shrimp Tom Kha.
I would rate this place a 5, however I do have 1 complaint: They have a 1-5 pepper rating system that they ask you to choose from. It sometimes seems that they forget about it as soon as you tell them - I have ordered items with a #2 spice level, only to be guzzling iced tea like it's manna from heaven. Other times I have ordered a #3 spice level, and hardly tasted any spice. I think it may have to do with the spice level that inherently exists in the dish to begin with, so adding a #2 spice level to something that is already spicy might be what is causing the problem. Please be cautious of this when ordering if you are spice-sensitive. Otherwise, it's a great experience! -

I've tried a few Thai places in the Houston area and this is by far the best I've had. The atmosphere is nice, the service was good, and the food was great. The menus have a peppers next to the hot dishes. You can specify how hot you want it from 1 to 5 peppers. If you like spicy food, start at 3 and work your way up.
Try the pineapple curry chicken, it's terrific. -

Good food and service, the server was quick and did not hover over us as we ate. I ordered the red curry with chicken and my date got the crab fried rice with spicy level 3. Both were tasty and had just enough spiciness to add a kick! Thai tea is always a must when eating Thai food. Theirs was very tasty and sweet, just how I like it! Too bad I was too full to eat dessert after our meal, but I would have gotten the sweet sticky rice with mango that was posted as one of their specials for the day. Would definitely return when I'm in the area! They also have a location in Pearland, FYI!

I guess I have grown accustom to stellar service...though this establishment does have a wonderful salad with peanut sauce dressing...and some of their items on their menu are very inciting...I have had better, along with better service and thats even from going to the hole in the wall places. I have been on more than one or two occasions trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, claiming maybe someone was just having and off day..but each time the service is slow ( and no it was not crowded) I am a firm believer in tipping well, but its your job to earn it! Don't get me wrong the food is good..its just I like good service along with my meals. Try the fresh spring rolls when you go, along with the Pad Kee Mow..hopefully when you go the wait staff will be speedy so that you will return...

If I could live in this place I would. I always get the vegetarian curry, I'm addicted to it. I also love the Tofu basil. I have never had a problem at this place and their quality is always in check. I don't have to worry about my favorite dish being "off" ever. Its my favorite place in Houston.
Ooh, and the fried bananas are very tasty!! -

Basic, seems to be more like frozen food. Not sure if I will visit them again.

This place was packed, so someone must dig this food, but I was unimpressed. Granted, having lived in Thailand, I'm a tough audience. But I ordered something that was supposed to be 4 out of 5 on a hotness scale, and I was able to share it with my almost-two-year-old nephew.

I've been going here for a few years and haven't had a bad experience yet. They have a great lunch deal (most entrees are under $10, and are served with a salad and egg roll), and that's when I usually go. I usually get the red or pineapple curry. You can choose how spicy you want most entrees, on a scale of 1 to 5. I usually get a 3 or 4. I really like their Thai Tea. It's some kind of red tea served with condensed milk.
The staff has always been attentive and the atmosphere is very "cottage-y." -

This was a quick lunch from Thai cottage. Though i ordered food for takeout, I was waiting on the tables to get my food and had a chance to see the decor and ambiance of the place. Liked what I saw. I ordered the Basil chicken with spicy garlic sauce and it was delicious. The place seemed clean and the staff was polite. would visit here again.

Just not that great. My husband and I visited once when looking for good Thai food in the area, but the flavors were just off. What wasn't totally bland was totally unbalanced/one-note (such as too sweet). I did find the prices to be pretty reasonable, at least. I doubt we'll be back since we've moved back to Central Texas and when we visit this area again will be concentrating on restaurants that have good food.

Maybe I'm just weird but this place just does not thrill me. Everyone else seems to love it. I've just had some real good Thai food in California and now I compare everything to that. It's all relative as they say. If you have not tried this place yet I don't think you will be disappointed, unless of course you're like me or from Thailand :)

Slow service, definitly no incentive to take care of the customers. Food is ok, but expensive for what you get. Menu has been tailored to Americans, most of whom would not know Thai food from Nepalese. Somebody here has got to know Thai food, wish they would try a little harder. This is a chain operation, and acts like one more every day. Sad, I hope this is not the future of Thai Food in the area!
