Zomg, you can get a satisfying meal here for under $15! That itself is enough reason to be obsessed with Thai Bowl.
Come for the apps, salads, noodles and rices... and STAY for the DELICIOUS soup. My favorite menu item is the Beef Noodles Soup. It's sweet, it's savory, and it has the best soft & wide rice noodles. It will save your soul on a frigid day. They also offer a wide variety of smoothies... which might save yo soul on a scorching summer day!
I will say, the space is a little run down since it's pretty take-out focused. It tends to be quiet on a weeknight (just a few customers and the TVs on) so I wouldn't necessarily come here with a lively crew. They also have a card minimum of $10- make sure to bring cash if you're budget-dining! But all in all, this place rocks for quick, yummy, cheap Thai food.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 23, 2016
Not a very memorable Thai place.
The lunch specials are a great deal - you can choose a bowl, soft drink, and egg roll or crab rangoon for $10.95. A bowl itself is $8.95 - $9.95 so it's getting an app and a drink for only $1 - $2 extra!
I had Chicken Pad Thai Bowl and I just wasn't impressed by the taste. It wasn't very good at all. I don't know how to describe it other than bland and a little off from how Pad Thai normally tastes. The portion was large... which would have been great if I actually enjoyed the bowl.
My friend had the Thai Mixed Fried Rice Bowl which came with an assortment of veggies and meats. It was actually pretty good!! The fried rice had a hint of curry which gave it great flavor. I should have ordered this bowl instead.
- 2/5 for the Pad Thai
- 3/5 for the price/portions
- 3/5 for the Fried Rice
- 4/5 for the service
If I gave it another shot, I wouldn't go with the Pad Thai.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Oct 27, 2017
Came here because i was craving some crispy pad se-ew but everything about his visit was horrible. First when we come in, they say they are 20 min delayed. but we decide to just wait. i order the pad se-ew with crispy noodles and they say they don't have crispy. considered leaving at that point but decided to just get it without the crispy. then i ordered the lychee thai tea. my boyfriend ordered the kiwi thai tea and they say they are out of kiwi. and so he orders banana. 5 min later they say they are of banana. so he orders mango. another 5 min later, they say they don't have lychee. WHAT???!
this restaurant needs to tell its customers up front what they ran out or don't have from the menu. don't tell the customers way after they've ordered.
now i'll rate the food:
crab rangoon - 2/5 - too much deep fried. do not recommend.
egg roll - 3/5
mango smoothie - 3/5
pad se-ew - 3/5
not coming back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 651164133Oct 16, 2019
The prices are good, but it's not the best place to get Thai food. I tried the crab rangoon and pad see ew with tofu -- they weren't bad, but both were a bit too greasy and the flavor of the pad see ew was overly sweet. Wouldn't be my first pick when I'm in the area again.

Came in on a Thursday evening for dinner around 7 and the place was pretty packed. There was only one server and she was the owner's sweet mom. In terms of service, she makes it a 5 but the food itself I would give a 3.
We ordered the $10.99 special -- egg roll or crab Rangoon's, entree, and a drink! I'm a college student so I appreciate college prices and this by far was one of the best deals I've seen in Chicago. For my meal, I got the egg roll, chicken pad Thai, and Thai tea (bonus points for offering Thai Tea as the drink in the special!) The egg roll was your run of the mill so pretty standard. She was able to put in my request for the chicken pad Thai to be medium spicy and it was the perfect amount of heat for me. Unfortunately, the flavor on the pad Thai itself was decent but nothing to write home about. I've definitely had better Pad Thai but at this price point I think the quality is well reflected and good enough for a quick bite. As people left the service got much better as she was able to focus on just ours and one other table.
Overall a good place to come with friends if you're in a budget and have a Thai food craving! The owner's mom is sooo sweet!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael T.Naperville, IL2256546Apr 4, 2018
Ordered Pad Thai ($9.98 including tax) without peanuts to go, even though our party dined in lol. They put it in a tin foil dish. It's more fun eating out of that than a reusable plastic plate. Ingredients were fresh, especially the bean sprouts. One con about the dish is that it's drenched with sauce and it's on the sweet side. Maybe it's suppose to be that way but it was on the heavy side. I wanted to get a mango smoothie, but they ran out :(

Absolutely love this place. I order like twice a week. Best Thai place I've found in the city.

This place sucks. I ordered tofu fried rice today and they used tomatoes to create a weird sauce flavor! This is not only NOT authentic, but it ruins the flavor of the food. Seriously, do places like these forget that not all farangs are the same? Thai restaurants need to be more authentic, but the problem is they are trying to be more like the "American Chinese" restaurants. This place is a great example of one such place. I will not be coming back here ever.
