I was pretty pleased with my lunch at Thai Arroy. I don't usually order satay, but for some reason I did and I was happy! The chicken satay here is the best I've ever had. Nicely charred and full of flavor. I liked it better without the peanut sauce which was just too peanuty for my taste.
The Tom Yum Kai was ok, not great. It wasn't spicy enough for my taste. And the crispy rolls were crispy and not greasy at all.
Next time, I'll have curry.
A very unassuming store front belies a vast, almost overwhelming menu of traditional and unusual Thai dishes and curries.
It's quite small, so be prepared to wait if you're going on a weekend night. And keep in mind that it's BYOB. Me, I'd say a nice Riesling to cut the spiciness. And boy, if you like it spicy, they will do it to it. If you say "native Thai," you'd best be prepared!
Parking can be tough (it's in Federal Hill, so good luck!), but if you're in the mood for Thai, it's worth the aggravation.

Thai Arroy is definitely one of the better Thai restaurants that I've been to. It's location on Light Street in Federal Hill is pretty convenient. The space is really small, and it's always packed, so it helps to have a reservation. It's BYOB, but there is a liquor store right across the street in case you forget.
In terms of the food, I have no complaints about it. I'm not a person who is very tolerant of spicy food, but I'm definitely getting better. I generally order food with maybe two stars at the most. For appetizers, the papaya salad and the mussels are a must. And for main entrees, you can't go wrong with their drunken noodles or green curry. I thought the menu was pretty simple...just pick your protein and your form of starch.
The service is excellent as well. There's only one or two waitresses, so I've gotten the same one almost every time I've been there to eat. They're all very friendly and polite. And if you ever have any questions about the menu, they're happy to oblige.
FINALLY found a decent thai restaurant in Baltimore. This was our third try so we were thrilled to find pad thai that actually tasted and looked like pad thai!! Service was a bit slow and the meat a little dry, but other than that, the spices for the curry and the pad thai were excellent. Will definitely be going back there.
Thai Arroy is a decent thai restaurant. I certainly would not hesitate to point someone who wanted Thai food in their direction. Where Thai Arroy suffers most is I used to live close to a better, cheaper Thai food place (Siri's Chef Secret in Greenbelt).
It's been a while since I ate at Thai Arroy so let me say that I did like it. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would. The menu is one of those daunting mix-and-match jobs and I struggled a little to find what I wanted (spicy basil). The food was good, but not a direct hit. I suspect if I went back a few times I would find a groove that would bump them up to 4 stars. I may return at some point to test that theory.
