Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene

Visited for Memorial Day 2015 after the thunderstorm passed. Visitor center was closed, but a very nice setting to commemorate fallen soldiers and veterans passed.

Mom was laid to rest here last March. 2023. We wasn't expecting it. She n Dad were proactive and made sure they had a resting place in this cemetery.

The people running this cemetery are organized and on top of things. Initially they couldn't find Moms papers for placement, but the funeral home was also on top of things- so things were moving along. Mom had a space.

The cost is free if you qualify as a veteran.

The property is well maintained.

This is the final resting place for many of our heroes and loved ones. This cemetery is very nice. They have done such a good job building a place to honor our veterans that have been laid to rest here. Each headstone, with a wreath in front, will surely bring a tear to your eye. We will be visiting often, as our loved ones are surely missed. The visitors center is still closed, but a phone call will get you any information you might need. To all the veterans here, we salute you and thank you for your service.
