4 reviews for Terrace Hotel
If you wish to enjoy local Lakeland color, this refurbished old Lakeland Hotel is the right place. (All other Lakeland hotels are outside the downtown proper.) Rates were about $120/nt at last check--quite reasonable for a classy hotel, valet parking, with a fine restaurant. Located right on Lake Mirror and in the heart of downtown.
The Shaw House, a local B&B, is also a nearby consideration if "local color" is a goal. It's directly across from Hollis Gardens on Orange.
I have not stayed in the hotel but have seen several rooms, scouting them in advance for out-of-town guests.
My first (and to date, only) meal at the Terrace was on April 29, 2009 as part of a semi-formal dinner gathering in the private Lake Mirror Room of this carefully restored 1920s luxury property. Although the acoustics in the room were difficult on my ears, the food and service were marvelous. I enjoyed a house salad, filet, and Key Lime dessert, and each was superb. I look forward to my next meal at the Terrace.
The ground-floor restaurant at this luxurious, historic hotel is excellent.
5 stars for the Oak Grilled Duck Breast.
Fast, courteous service.
The Terrace Grille serves casual breakfasts, leisurely luncheons and elegant dinners daily. The Terrace Bar serves hors d'oeuvres daily and offers a comfortable club-like atmosphere to enjoy fine beverages.
Wonderful service in a relaxed atmosphere. The Smoked salmon and Brie cheese pizza was perfect for lunch. There is room for dessert, since all are made in smaller portions and on site.
After lunch, you can take a walk to the Hollis Gardens, directly across the street. Lovely formal and informal gardens.
Great idea for an after noon excursion from Tampa.
