just ok food, I don't like their Sashimi much, sometime fish scale still on Salmon Sashimi Yuck,
rice that make sushi  just like Chinese jasmine rice. It should cook with the vinegar and sugar like other Sushi place do.
Their Bento ( like chicken teri, katsu ) was OK not bad, but not that exellent.

Only one good thing about this place is the affordable price. I agree with this kind of economic shouldn't sell the food too expensive.

My family and I have been living right over San Bruno Mountain in Daly City for nearly my entire life, and we have only recently discovered this wonderful spot. Now, my family comes here so often now that they are on a first-name basis with the owner.

The prices can't be beat here. My parents and family friends love the Hamachi Kama dinner. It comes with a HUGE piece of grilled hamachi kama, veggies and rice for less than 12 bucks! That's a pretty good deal if you ask me!

I've had the Chef's Special which included two entree proteins, 3 chicken wings, 3-piece CA roll, soup, salad and rice for less than 13 bucks. And it's a LOT of food! I chose chicken teriyaki and sashimi,  which were both of great quality.

This night of dinner with the parents, they both had their usual while I tried the chicken soba, and we all shared a Rainbow Roll.

The chicken soba was a huge bowl of hot soup that was perfect for an unexpected cold evening in September. It included large pieces of carrots, shiitake mushrooms and tasty chicken breasts, cooked spinach, and tons of soba noodles. The broth was OK - it was just a tad bland, but nothing a little salt/soy sauce can't help. This was my first time having soba noodles hot, and I actually liked this alternative to udon noodles.

Miso is standard, but the salad is yummy! The dressing is different - it has an orange color and citrus-y taste to it. I love it! I'd buy the dressing if they bottled it up!

The Rainbow Roll needed a bit more filling, but the fish was fresh.

All in all, this is a great place to get your belly filled and appetite satisfied for cheap!

I used to come here all the time when I went to middle school near by. The service was always great and they had my orders memorized.

Fast forward 6 years later. This place has completely gone down hill. I ordered the house combination which comes with your choice of two entrees. Most of the entrees were meat so I just got two teriyaki salmon entrees, thinking I was getting a great deal for 9.95. I also got the rice replaced with extra salad. In addition to that I ordered the avocado roll.

The fish was cooked perfectly but it didn't taste that good because of their watered down teriyaki sauce. There was barely any on my fish so I asked for extra and it did not help one bit. My cousin ordered the mackerel bento and the mackerel was overcooked and super fishy tasting. The seaweed from the avocado roll was stale and disgusting and the miso soup probably had msg in it or something.

When we got the check, I noticed they charged me an extra $2 for ordering two salmon entrees. I thought about just paying it but I figured I needed to stop letting these type of things go. I talked to the guy by the cash register and he told me it was the waitresses job to tell me about the extra charger for ordering two fish entrees as opposed to a fish/meat entrees. He told me he could only cut the charge in half for me which I just settled with. I heard him reprimand our piece of shit waitress thankfully.

There's this kid working there that looks kind of ghetto but he was the nicest one there and he is super friendly. I feel bad that he has to work  in such close vicinity as those idiots.

Would you believe this place is operated by Filipinos? I've seen sushi joints ran by Chinese, but I was thrown off (in a good way) by hearing the sushi chef speaking Tagalog. But that's not the reason for their 4-stars. My BIGGEST LIKE about this place is.....its HIDDEN! No one comes here because this area of Brisbane is at the very end of the actual community so theres not much going on in this area; perfect if you want to be in & out and not deal with a whole bunch of people getting in your way. Service was fast and friendly. Okay, the other reason why I like this place is because they give you the option of having SUSHI MADE WITH BROWN RICE! How's that for all you health freaks, eh? I totally had to try that one, so I had a TEMPURA ROLL W/ BROWN RICE, and to my surprise, it was actually kind of good. Barely noticed the difference in flavor, just in texture, which didnt bother me any. I also enjoyed their Wakame Seaweed Salad. I do not recommend their Nabeyaki Udon which lacks flavor. If you're in the area, try it out just so you can say you had sushi w/ brown rice!

Awful. Do not come here for real japanese food. My ohitashi was served HOT (wtf?) with some weird-ass dressing that did not resemble anything I have ever tasted.

My medusa roll (spicy tuna, green onion & cucumber topped with seaweed salad) was "aromatic" in a bad way. It also lacked the green onions it was advertised to come with. The tuna was a funny color (more white than your typical tuna red). The age-dashi tofu was aight.

I realize this restaurant was not run by an actual Japanese person (there was a Korean-looking woman making the sushi...???!!1) but I am usually OK with that. You can break out of the norm if you serve good food. If not, you're doing it wrong.

Wet mushy rice served in the rice bowls...yuck.

The sushi rice was not seasoned...just some more wet mushy rice shaped to look like sushi.

The bottom third of the salad bowl was filled with water from the lettuce.

The tempura was served cold and a bit soggy.

This place was a big disappointment for my family dinner.

SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!
stacie and i had been driving for hours and pulled over near here for some gas. we were beyond hungry so we pulled into this little plaza. we both HATE teriyaki so the name threw us off a bit but it beat everything else in the mall. we decided we would grab some udon and  just wait till we got to SF.

as a sushi joint this place is def sketchy ...looked like a BUNCH of locals who have never had sushi anywhere else was filled in this joint...

stace ordered the chicken udon and I got me soba...which i thought, and the only way my mom makes it  is COLD is with like a soysauce-like chilled soup and you dip the noodles in and add in ur wasabi and green onions...however when asked he said it was HOT like udon? and said i was mistaking it...OK??

so i still got the soba + tempura. my SOBA noodles were pretttttttttty hard to eat...because it was beyond mushy that i couldnt even chew it, it practically dissolved once it made it into my mouth...disturbing rite? plus the soup base wasnt even that great they had some carrots and a massive chunk of spinach with shiitake mushroom...i wish they would have mentioned this on the menu since i LOVE mushrooms but could care less for shiitake...booo!!

then my tempura looked pretty good. the first I picked up was the pumpkin omg?? the pumpkin was MUSHY as hell...ok so I went onto the potato OMG it was mushy too...ew!??!?!??! I dont mean the tempura crispy part i mean the veggies in general. SO i THOUGHT should i eat the shrimp tempura...do I trust this place altho some odd people nearby were eattin the sushi (omg why would u endanger urself like that??) so i bit into my shrimp tempura and my oh my that thing was cold....

basically that crap was frozen shrimp which they just threw in the fryer wow thanks...

the waiter was a nice guy but the place sucks and so does he. when he relized how everything on my tray was either not touched or half spit out he said "oh yea you ordered wrong huh? yeah it seems like you didnt really know what you ordered"

OR maybe u guys just suck as a sushi place and everything u gave was crap?

yes one of the 534532460246 things wrong with the sf trip =(

wouldnt of had the sushi here if they gave it for free, paid for my medical bill and gave me a tiffanys bracelet

So my best friend &I wanted some Japanese food, and I remembered that there was one right now the street from me.  So we took our chances and went.  And boy oh boy was it so goood!
We both got the same thing, the chicken Teriyaki bowl that comes with soup, sushi, and salad.  So we ate it right up, and it was YUM.
Then we decided to get dessert...MOCHI! Best dessert EVER.
And then we were stuffed and scared to look at the bill because we got a lot of good food.
So we get the bill (and mind you the waiter guy was really nice) and we were so happy! The bill was ONLY $24!
We were soo happy and of course full, we left with smiles :)

My boyfriend and I are a fan of this place.  We're always willing to give food of different price range a chance and this has become our "spot" because the people are nice and we always are satisfied when we leave this place.  The owner and waiters know us and it's close to home.

The Good:
-Nice, friendly staff
-The salad with that japanese dressing is yummy
-Its reasonably priced
-There's plenty of parking
-Not too far from our neighborhood

The Bad:
-None that I can think of

Tips:
-Not everyone makes cooked Hamachi sushi which I love and so if you like Tempura Hamachi, they make a simple roll you might like.

This is the best restaurant in Brisbane, which isn't exactly saying much, but alas... I usually order the Chef's Special Bento, which is quite the value for the sheer amount of food you get. They also own the Thai restaurant next door, so you can mix-or-match on the same visit.

One of my requirements for living anywhere is that it must have an easily accessible sushi restaurant.  I once had a dream of living above a 24 hour sushi place, but I'm happy with living up the hill from one.

My recipe for recovering after a hard day/week at work is to call Teriyaki House on my way home, order a rainbow roll, tekka maki and vegetarian roll (the special one with the squash), and then stop at the Brisbane market to pick up a chilled bottle of $10 Clos du Bois Sauv Blanc, and then get home and watch some terribly indulgent TV show like Dr. Phil or Flavor of Love: Charm School.

Point being, Teriyaki House never lets me down.  And, they know when I call (that probably has to do with the fact I always order the same thing).  But, it is one of the charms of living in a "small town" like Brisbane.

This place absolutely rocks, I don't care what anyone says.

The people are very friendly and address you by name (especially if like myself, you might be prone to a week long three meal a day sashimi binge). The service is very good, orders are taken very promptly and food comes quick.

As far as sushi, the fish quality is very good, very fresh and the chef doesn't skimp on the fish on the rolls, nigiri and sashimi.

All meals are very wallet friendly and include hot tea (and very good tea at that!), and misu soup.

Oh, and let me not forget the absolute coolness that this restaurant is adjoined with their Thai restaraunt, so you can order from both menus! Fancy a curry with your tekka maki? Not a problem!

Highly recommended!

I went here with a friend who recommended it. I live in SF and I suggested we go to Japantown instead of driving all the way to Brisbane. Since it was not my car and he was buying I decided to give it a try.

I am glad I did. We both had the Salmon dinner that came with fried veggies and soup. Our server was efficient and polite. I only wish that they had the fried banana dessert. The server said they were all out because there was a big party there the day before. The experience is worth the short drive to Brisbane.

Tucked away in the only strip mall in Brisbane is a quasi Japanese restaurant.  We went to a large group dinner here.  Here's the list of reasons why we're underwhelmed:

1)  We made reservations for 10. When we got there, they forgot to set up.  My sister reminded them about the reservations and the waitress goes "Oh."  Then they started running around to build our long table.

2)  They sat us near the open door so there was a draft.  My father was not pleased.

3)  They screwed up the orders.  Some people got salad and soup and some didn't.  My father ordered his chicken w/ teri on the side.  It came covered in teri.  When my father sent it back.  The cook apparently washed out the teri with cold water and sent it back to our table.  My father complained endlessly about the cold chicken teri (You'd think they would wash it w/ warm or hot water or, hey, this is an interesting concept, make a new order!  But they didn't).

4)  There's no rhyme or reason as to service.  We're simple people, we mostly ordered chicken or salmon teri.  So why is it that one person got their salmon while 3 others who ordered the IDENTICAL plate had to sit and watch that lucky person eat?  You'd think they'd throw all the salmon in the barbie and cook it all at once, right?  Guess not.  They also forgot to make one salmon teri for someone in our party.

5)  Food was blech.  The chicken was grilled to death.  It was that hard and dry!  Portions were laughable.  The kiddie plate ($4.99) had more than the regular adult plate.

I don't think we'll come back again...

my friend from ohio is in town for business and told me that he "discovered" a sushi place. me being that sushi eating girl i am, i decided to join him for lunch. first of all yes, it is a sushi and thai place together, the owner operates both establishments.

i decided to brave it out and try the sushi but thank goodness i ordered cooked food too. the fish tastes old, like 3 days old. i took one bite and spit it back out, yea that bad. the beef teriyake was tough and not flavorful, it actually didn't taste like teriyake what so ever. the only good thing from the meal was the ice cream.

the service is efficient and we were seated immediately (the place was half full). the inside was dark with wooden tables and some japanese decor but it mainly looked like tiki hut. the prices are kinda expensive for some not so good japanese food, thankfully i didnt pay for this not so delicious meal.
mental note: NEVER trust a midwestern bachelor when it comes to "discovering" sushi.

I love this place as it has a homestyle feel to it. I am sure that if you wanted to get authentic Japanese food you would go other than here, but it is reasonably priced and it doesn't taste bad.

I usually order their dragon roll which is usually a safe bet and most of their katsu's taste really good.  They also give good size portions so this is a really hot spot in the Brisbane area if you want to get lunch and not go far for a quick Japanese fix.  I heard they also do takeout trays which is really cool and I wish more places did this for corporate parties and such.

I love the owners of the restaurant. They are very personable people.  They try their best to make you happy.  If you go there a few times they remember you and greet you each time.  Which is rare nowadays.

All in all, I give this a 4 star rating.  It would probrably be higher if they had more variety and the rolls were more consistent.

Since I live in Brisbane, I figured I should give Teriyaki House a try even though I already have a couple of favorite Japanese restaurants, and my husband said it was decent.

I was hoping for some katsudon, but it wasn't on the menu (just plain katsu and white rice), and they said they just didn't make it -- how hard is it to throw an egg and sauce on the katsu over rice?? (okay, fine, I guess I could do it myself, but I didn't think it was unreasonable to hope to get something off menu that is close to what they offered) Mebbe their skills are limited. Well, I ended up ordering tempura, which is pretty standard Japanese restaurant fare, and I thought it would be difficult to mess up...but I was wrong. It wasn't awful, but it really WAS NOT good! How is that possible??

I also question if the owners are Japanese (they seemed like they might be Chinese, which isn't necessarily bad -- I'm Chinese, after all -- but it makes it feel a lot less authentic!). I think I'll just trek down to San Mateo to eat at Hotaru if I have a strong hankering for Japanese food.

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. And sometimes you don't want to trek further than down the hill from your house. Which makes Teriyaki House a great restaurant to live up the hill from.  Every time we go, the people always recognize us and we almost always sit in the same place. Every time we go, we say maybe we'll order something different, but we never do. It's the chef's special bento box with chicken for my husband and the vegetable sukiyaki for me.

The sukiyaki comes in this huge steaming hot bowl with lots of veggies, tofu and those delicious glass noodles. It comes with a raw egg, which baffled me, until I learned the proper way to eat sukiyaki is to break the egg in the soup while it's still steaming hot and stir it around, so the egg gets cooked by the broth. It's definitely worth trying the egg way at least once, even though I wouldn't want to do it every time.

Sure it may not be the best Japanese food around, but it's a quick and delicious little neighborhood restaurant. Bonus points for being open at night and on Sat. (not so common in Brisbane eating establishments), but take note that they are closed on Sun.

Our manager decided to buy us lunch from this place.
My review is solely  based on my order of the Sashimi Combo.
I was very happy with the large portion that were served.
I saved my favorite pieces for  the end, the tuna.
What a disappointment that was. There was no flavor whatso ever
and the pieces were breaking up as soon as i picked them up with
my chop sticks. I'll be ordering something diffrent next time some one
buys me lunch from there.

Aside from one server, the service was horrible (I was reprimanded for sitting at a 3 person table and was told to sit at a 1 person table...at 11:00am, way before the lunch hour).

The food was o.k., but the fish was smelly and did not seem fresh.

Would I go here again.  NO.  The bento's down in San Mateo are cheaper and MUCH better.

To the owners: have your service staff pay attention to your customers...I saw a few instances of your not-interested staff blowing off people during your lunch hour...

The trippy thing about this place is that half thai -- half japanese. You walk in there expecting to be in a Thai restaurant, but they give you a Japanese menu! You go to the Japanese side and expect a Japanese restaurant, but you also get a Thai menu! And they have these mini menus that are so tiny you can put in your purse and/or wallet. It's pretty cool. It's one of those places that focuses more on quantity instead of quality. They serve everything you'd expect at a Thai/Japanese restaurant. But is it really good? Not so much. It's not BAD..but it's not the greatest either...

it's not horrible - it's not good. It's just a convenient place in a small town without a lot of options for dining. My biggest complaint is their sushi rice. It falls apart before you even dip it in the soy sauce. It's rather messy. The Thai food isn't bad.

I had a bento box. It came with 6 pieces of california roll, salad, rice, miso soup. I chose ton katsu. It tasted like every other place that has this lunch. It did seem like the food was a bit small, but it was plenty for me. I'm not really sure if the food was prepared quickly, I was late to the lunch. Anyway, I hear there isn't so much variety or choice for food in Brisbane, so maybe this place is just fine to go eat at.

I work nearby and have been to Teriyaki House often.  It's a small little place in the Brisbane Center (by Bank of  America). The food is fantastic and the portions are generous.  The prices are very reasonable and the owners/staff are very friendly.  Service at lunch time is fast and if you call or fax in an order, it's ready when they say it will be. They have everything from hand-rolled sushi to Teriyaki and Tempura - their Combos are a real favorite.  I would definitely recommend Teriyaki House to anyone!!

I thought the servers were nice, but the raw sushi I ordered tasted funny.  I wasn't sure where the wierd taste came from.  It tasted like I was eating sushi mixed with perfume.  I'm thinking soap spilled in the mix of the wasabi or the sushi rice was stored with something that was funky.  Well...at least I didnt' get sick.  =)
