**Disclaimer**
If you don't like the Chinese food that can be found at your average mall food court, you will not like Teriyaki House.
I love Teriyaki House. Their prices are fair, the food is consistent and the delivery is quick. The crab rangoons are great, and I am a big fan of the bourbon chicken.

Teriyaki House...you, me and GrubHub have a very close relationship.
Quick delivery - I almost always get my order before they have quoted.
I've tried their crab rangoons (good) and teriyaki chicken (dece) but I'm mainly a fan of the sushi.
I either get the chirashi (tuna and salmon sashimi pieces on top of a bed of sushi rice and veggies...a deconstructed roll if you will) for $15, or the tuna combo/salmon combo which run about $9-$9.50. All of these options come with a big container of miso soup and one measly half-filled container of soy sauce. Need more soy!
The quality of the fish has always been fresh, and Teriyaki House is my go-to when I'm in the mood for a quick sushi fix, a healthier takeout option, aka - when I'm being completely lazy.
Good place for basic sushi that definitely does the trick when I don't feel like getting dressed up and going out to an expensive sushi dinner. And free delivery! -

The food at Teriyaki house is decent but the service can become really slow. If you're going for lunch, make sure to get there before the lunch rush or else you'll find yourself standing around. If you work close by, try calling ahead, picking up the food, and eating it back in the office. It'll save you a bunch of time.
If you want to try something a bit different than your typical Asian stir fry noodles, try the Udon noodle stir fry. I get it with beef. Udon noodles are thicker than typical lo mein noodles. I love that it is chewier and I think it has more taste.
The eggplant in garlic sauce is pretty good too but the lunch special version doesn't come with any proteins. I usually ask them to put chicken in and they charge almost 1/3 of what the lunch special costs. Other places add the protein in automatically.
Overall, good food if you're looking for "cheap Chinese food." -

Great place, open late, and the dilivery service is great. But I'm giving this place 5 stars because there are at least 8 chinese food restaurants in south Boston and Teriyaki House (a Japanese food serving restaurant) has the best Chinese food in town. I've eaten at both of thier locations and have no complaints.

Delivery service is great. Most employees have pretty impressive English considering its obviously their second or third language. (This means ordering over the phone is painless) Have never had any complaints about their sushi, which is my main purchase from here. The wasabi is also very good. No idea where they get it but it has a very good amount of heat and flavor.
Dining in: If you dine in, I got the spicy chicken rice bowl for $6 or $6.50 and wow (Bro! Are you serious!?) it was delicious. The portion size was way above what I expected and had a bunch of steamed veggies thrown in with the bowl. They also have VERY quick service.
Bottom-line: A truly great value for the quality you receive. -

Filthy. Cheap food that you have no idea how it's prepared. If the front of the house is that filthy I can only imagine what the kitchen is like!
Went once 7 months ago, ordered chicken in a bowl ate 1/2 threw the rest out. I would never eat there again! -

Not the most beautiful exterior, but I get delivery, so I don't have to see the building when I eat the food.
I have been really impressed with the food that I have ordered here. They are very professional, from having well spoken people taking orders over the phone, and very well packaged food for delivery. Also, the food that I have had there has been terrific! I have had the chicken teriyaki and salmon sushi which was delicious. I had not had sushi in many years due to a bad experience a long time ago, but I gave this sushi a shot, and really enjoyed it! They also have free delivery which seems to be more and more rare here in Southie. This place is a definite must for delivery chineese/japanese food in Southie! -

This is chinese food you can *almost* feel good eating. Love that they have a brown rice option. It's also great the day after, which is my test for chinese food. Most places the sauce gets gelatinous and quite unappetizing. Not the case with T house. I love, love, LOVE their scallion pancakes. It's a trigger food for me. I seriously can not stop eating them when they are in front of me. I love that they are soft-not sure if that's how they are supposed to be but I much prefer them to the fried version.
Their sushi is also quite good. The tuna and avocado and shrimp tempura roll are my favs.
Delivery has always been fast and they usually show up earlier than the time they quoted. They once forgot something and sent a guy right back over with my missing item. No complaints from this girl. -

Great place for affordable Japanese food. I'm not saying their food is top notch or anything, but in terms of quality, it's a small step above Japanese food that you'd order in the food court of a mall. I would usually get the sukiyaki bowl, and the beef is tender, but doesn't absorb all the flavors because they cook it really fast (I don't think they do any special marinating).
I also have had their honey dew bubble tea, and it tasted like a fresh melon. -

Probably my favorite "hole in the wall" sushi joint.
Consistent food, good quality food, cheap prices. It's not super fancy, but it's one of those places where you know that the volume is high enough that the fish is always fresh.
As take out sushi places go (as opposed to sit down places like Fugakyu or Blue Fin or Hana Sushi), this is probably one of the best in Boston. I have to eat here whenever I'm in this part of town.
Also super quick service! -

For the prices, the sushi and udon noodle (chicken, beef, or vegetable/tofu) are more than reasonable. They won't knock your socks off, but hey...at $4-6 per roll and roughly $7 for the udon bowls, you really can't go wrong.
Also, they have about 16 people working here at any given moment. And the restaurant is smaller than the kitchen/living room area of my apartment. It's quite comical. Also, it's open late and you'll never wait more than twenty minutes for your pick-up order. Long live Teriyaki House! -

It does the job when I am craving sushi and cannot make it out....They are very efficient when you are placing an order over then phone and I can't remember a time when my order was incorrect.
That being said, the sushi is standard, nothing to write home about. It is inexpensive as far as sushi goes and you do get what you pay for-so I consider that a positive.
In Southie we are totally lacking a good sushi restaurant so it is usually my go to spot for delivery, however it fails in comparison to some of the real deal places this city has to offer! -

Lunch in Southie that isn't pizza, subs, burgers, or deli sandwiches? Teriyaki House is a great place for something different, and is pretty much my go to lunch place, since I work nearby. It isn't to say that food in Southie isn't good. It is! It is delicious, and rich, with a great home-cook feel!! I just have to go back to something a little less upsetting to my yuppy tummy. You know, like Sushi!!
The sushi isn't the absolute best I've ever had, but it is better than anything you could get in a grocery store, and quite satisfying. You can get sushi in a combo with teriyaki chicken and it is quite a feast with the soup they include! Try it out!
They also have bubble tea/juice. I got green apple with black pearls once, and it was a yummy treat! -

It's cheap good food.
Get the teriyaki as it tends to be more tasty than the chinese portions and sushi they serve. Portions are good and for the steak teriyaki the portion of the steak is pretty decent.
The bubble tea is just OK but it isn't bad.
I recommend this place for a quick bite or if you are hungry late at night just order ahead and pick up. -
Review from Lila S.
I mean really, when it comes to a place like Teriyai House, consistency is the name of the game. I would have to say Ive NEVER had a bad dining or take out experience here. Its not the ritz carlton of modern japanese/chinese fusion but let me tell you it is both quality and quantity.
Im talking $3.00 for 5, count em 5 pan/steam dumplings and like $1.00 more with any meat basically.. not good for my waistline but omg I do not care!
You really cant order anything bad here. Its kind a downplayed version of The Elephant walk, with a Chinese menu vs. Japanese and Sushi menu all at once. You can of course mix and match as you please and feel like a little piglet walking down the stairs and stumble across the street to Broadway station.. then realize you drove and your car is right there but you wanna walk off alll that goodness you just ate!
Heres what I usually end up getting..
1 order chicken teriyaki( white meat) with house rice {( shrimp/beef/chicken) }
2 orders of pan fried veggie gyoza
1 order tuna nigiri
scallion pancakes
I mean really its a chill little fast moving place, but you dont feel crammed in like a sardine if you want refuge from the cold. Even at full capacity this place has breathing room.
Nuff said, go n love it up !!! NOW -

There lunch specials get two thumbs up from me :) At work, we usually ordered from Beijing Kyoto and I was NOT IMPRESSED with their food at all. It really was pretty crappy. So especially compared to that place, I am a fan of Teriyaki House.
Today was my third time ordering from here, and I really liked my food. I don't like that you have pay extra for anything other than the actual lunch special (you choose the entree, and it just comes with rice) but it was worth the extra money. I had the shrimp and vegetables with fried rice. Delish.
I've had their shrimp fried rice, chicken fingers, boneless spare ribs, and a few other things, and I've liked everything. They don't charge for delivery, which is a bonus. I'll definitely be ordering lunch from here again. -

I'll agree with most of the reviews on here: the food is decent for Chinese food, the price is right, but the service is crap.
For example: I placed an order for pick-up. I wanted broccoli with garlic sauce and spicy chicken with broccoli. I spent about 5 minutes breaking down for the person taking my order the difference between the two and clarifying that I wanted 2 separate items. Each time I clarified what I wanted some how the person came up with a different order. When I thought everything was clear, I still ended up with only 1 order of broccoli with garlic sauce despite my efforts. -

What I like about Teriyaki House:
1. they deliver, and its quick
2. the food isn't greasy so I feel semi-healthy while slamming it to the face
3. the kitchen is open and it looks clean inside
4. its cheap
Teriyaki House is great too because of the variety it offers: Japanese, Chinese, Sushi, Teriyaki, both white and brown rice, etc.
For the people knocking Teriyaki House consider this: ITS IN SOUTHIE. I can say that because, according to my mother, I'm a sixth generation (hoodrat). The nicest restaurant we had before the Franklin Cafe was Sully's, which offers snapdogs and clams with bellies. Come on people! We should be grateful that there is a mostly legit Asian place residing here.
If you want "nice" Chinese food coming right to your door, holler at Teriyaki House. If you want a nice case of food poisoning and a conundrum on what kind of meat you are consuming, go for Nanning Wok or Hoy Toy. -
Review from Billie M.

I have many addictions, of which many are not healthy. But one I do have that I don't need to be ashamed of is brown rice. I love brown rice. Rice steamer-ed, TJ's frozen packs, Uncle Ben's, I'm not picky. But you tell me I can have brown rice and not even have to prepare it for myself? Well yes please! Teriyaki House may only be middle of the road Asian food, but it's middle of the road Asian food served atop pillowy, chewy brown rice, and for that, I'm grateful. Rice loves a good companion, so I usually get the spicy Korean chicken (it's surprisingly tender), and seriously, they give you enough that it ends up being 3 meals. And if you're feeling naughty try the curry crab rangoon. Crunchy, cheesy, curry-y, and crave-able, they are best ordered if you're eating alone. For both the glutton factor, and, well, you'll have cream cheese curry breath. Sexy.
As if that wasn't enough....drumroll please....they have salad with ginger dressing. I feel like ginger dressing used to be a lot more ubiquitous than it is now. It seems like lately, a lot of the places I used to be able to get this tasty treat now no longer have it, and offer to replace the dressing with Italian (huh?). Or satay sauce. Am I out of the loop? Is satay sauce catching on as a dressing option?
So thank you Teriyaki House. Thank you for feeding my addictions, and not once laughing (or mumbling FAT!) when I order delivery. To my apartment. 1 mile away. On the same street.

An affordable Southie cornerstone located opposite the Broadway T stop.
Surprisingly good sushi with solid ingredients and preparation. Strong vegetarian options. While the menu is Japanese-tinged with American/Chinese influence it doesn't fall prey to the unbearable cheesiness of "asian fusion."
The dining room can easily seat groups of 8 - though it can feel a little cramped. It's a bustling place with constant traffic and rarely fewer than 12 employees working at once. In other words, don't plan your engagement/breakup dinners for T House.
Don't skip the bubble tea on your way out! -

Dear TH,
Your spicy tuna roll used to be my favorite thing in the whole wide world. I'd risk mercury poisoning for it. But now, why's it SO spicy? Believe me, I DO spicy. I roll in spicy. I drink hot sauce.. okay, not really. But really, why? Why so red? Did you put hot pepper powder on it?
All my other rolls were A+... but pleaseeee go back to your old spicy tuna roll.

South Boston, MA
South Boston doesn't exactly lack in chinese food establishments. In fact, I'd wager the only two things that exist in greater abundance are pizza places and illegally saved parking spots. While the Nanning Wok will always have a special place in my drunken heart for their availability at all hours of the night, my sober self will be ordering from Teriyaki House from now on. The General Tao's chicken, beef with mushrooms, and chicken lo mein that I ordered were all delicious, reasonably priced, and arrived at my door only 15 minutes or so after I placed my order. As Billie mentioned, the brown rice was also delicious.
Granted, chinese is probably the easiest to prepare out of everything they serve, but I'm already looking forward to sampling their other styles. I've been scared off of all sushi since the middle of last year after a particularly bad experience elsewhere, but I just might consider giving it another go at Teriyaki House. -

Pricing is very good. Quality of food is average.
Don't try the bubble tea. Just not very good.
If you are getting sushi, stay away from their eel and tuna. Tried them twice and both times they didn't taste fresh. I do like their avacado, spicy crunchy and shrimp tempura rolls.
Their staff sometimes frustrates me... For example, a couple times we were the only people sitting down for food and after waiting for 5 minutes, I had to get up and ask one of the 10 workers for menus. Very odd. It is as if no one is assigned to wait on their in house customers.
Also, ask for their rewards card if you visit often. I'm not sure what the breakdown is but you earn cash for food after you spend X amount of dollars. -

I'm so glad that I got introduced to Teriyaki House. Some co-workers decided we should all go out to lunch one day and suggested I check it out with them. So I went, and wasn't disappointed. While the dining room is very small, most customers seem to come for take-out rather than sit-down meals. The kitchen seamlessly flows over into the preparation countertops which fades into the registers. It's one long conveyer-belt of food production. I surprisingly liked the hustle and bustle behind the counters. There had to be about 15 people working behind the counter catering to the long lines of take-out and eager dine-in guests.
That first visit I ordered virtually the same thing I ordered the second time. I was not let down. I ordered a teriyaki chicken rice bowl and loved it. The portions are huge, and at a small price. I don't really have much else to say. You should check it out. -

Great: price, variety, portion size, vegan options
Good: taste, freshness
I was looking around South Boston for a sushi place, and somehow totally overlooked Teriyaki House, thinking it would be just noodles and teriyaki. A vegan friend who lives in the area suggested we have dinner here.
I'd actually say the sushi is 90% as good as Ginza at 30% the price, PLUS all the other tasty japanese, chinese, and fusion dishes. I'll definitely go back. I also had beef udon soup, which while not the best, was $5. -

Living in South Boston means you are bound to order form Teriyaki House at some point. There just aren't many great Sushi restaurants around that also deliver. Luckily, Teriyaki House has a great menu and excellent Sushi. I would even take an order of Sushi from here over eat-in Sushi at Ginza. The prices are reasonable and the service fast. My only gripe is the sometimes unfriendly service on the phone (mostly related to the poor language skills of the person who answers) and the fact that some of the delivery people call to have you meet them in front of the door instead of delivering to the door.
All in all, great food and fast service. Now if they only stayed on top of renewing their domain name so I can see the menu (http://www.teriyakihou...) .... -

Great food - even greater price -
A wise man once said, somethings we do not look for in life... cheap education, cheap doctors and finally cheap sushi...
On a night out of the ordinary some friends and I discovered Teriyaki house a couple of years ago. They have yet to disappoint. Chinese food, NO MSG, wonderful flavors. The japanese menu, fantastic....
But its the sushi - whoever they have working there, keep them!!! They make some of the best sushi in this city for less than the price of a bigmac... yeah the other white meat.
Give it a try next time you cant think of where to eat in boston, I doubt you will be disappointed... and dont worry about parking, you can triple park in southie and you wont get a ticket.
Regarding dining in groups, I would try to keep your group below 6 , as there are about seats for only 15 people here.

Ordered tonight for the first time after being totured by the aroma for many months while waiting for the bus across the street.
We ordered egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, bourbon chicken, wok mixed vegetables, broccoli in garlic sauce, boneless ribs and they threw in a california roll for free- what a deal. The huge menu is perfect for families that like different things. The whole shebang was only $33 and arrived in a very short time. My teenagers gave a thumbs up to everything and I enjoyed the california roll. The real surprise was the amazing brown rice! If anyone knows what kind they use, I'd love to know. It was prefectly cooked, not sticky and not dry, and with a nice nutty flavor. The rice bowls must be amazing. We are sure to become regulars at this restaurant...everybody's happy! -
Review from Debra L.
We order take-out from here a lot because it's close and the delivery is usually pretty quick (although it wasn't last night).
It's just never that good. Not that it's bad, it's just okay. Yes, it's cheaper than other sushi, but it shows. The fish always tastes pretty bland to me.
We did try a rice bowl once (and the rice was so soft and mushy I think it had been cooked 3 dasy earlier). The chicken was pretty good though. And, the beef noodle soup wasn't bad.
We'll keep ordering from here, for the reasons stated above. But, if you don't live nearby I wouldn't go out of your way to make a trip here. -

Teriyaki House is my new home! Where has this place been my whole life?!?! I even lived in Southie for a short time years ago and never knew this place existed!!!! Just a small place with a million people working behind the counter.. lol.
Sake, wow.. that stuff is like an ass-kickin going down your throat but it's not bad if your lookin for a quick way to feel tipsy, haha.
Got 5 different kinds of sushi rolls all which were amazing!!! And they were cute and colorful too... I know food isn't suppose to be cute but hey... it was! If you want the waitress you just got to keep calling her over, otherwise she's doing her own thing, eating carrots or string crab lol.
Best sushi I've had in a long time... I'll be visiting Southie more often!Listed in: Must Try!

I was very shocked at the Teriyaki House this time - the first time I went I got sushi and it wasn't very good but I went back. I got the udon noodle soup and it was AMAZING.. It came with a bunch of chicken teriyaki which was some of the best I've ever had, udon noodles, and some vegetables. I got lo mein too which wasn't great but I highly recommend the soup!

I found out last month that Teriyaki House delivers to my work, and we order at least 1-2 times a week. It's pretty cheap, the portion sizes are ok, and their delivery isn't bad. The price/quality ratio is pretty decent. I mean, I'm not expecting ginza-like sushi or super authentic chinese food, it's pretty much a 3.
However, the main benefit is that they deliver and it's free, and so far my coworkers haven't pissed them off...yet. I mean, we add on orders after we placed the main one all the time, call them for delivery status checks, etc, and they're still pretty quick and don't seem too pissed at us, leading me to add another star. -

Great General TSO Chicken - Gross Sushi
I do think this place has some of the best General TSO Chicken around and got to love the free and quick delivery.
However I have given their sushi 3 chances now and very dissapointed all three times. The fish generally has a funky taste to it. -

So, yeah, it's cheap -- really cheap. That's awesome. But in this case you get what you pay for.
I've gotten delivery from this place three or four times. Each time, the cucumber maki was basically filled with cucumber peels and the avacado maki was way over-ripe. One time the avacado was even spotted black.
The teriyaki tofu was alright, but nothing to write home about. But, for what it's worth, my friend seems to be really fond of their chicken teriyaki bowl and the shrimp tempura maki. -

Sushi here is awfulllllll, when I tell people about it I compare it to Stop and Shop sushi.
I've only ordered their orange chicken with lo mein...and you get what you pay for. It's your average cheap Chinese food place, you can't be expecting much, can you? It's drunk food..
I've also tried their crab ragoon, it was pretty bad. Never order the hot and sour soup, I couldn't eat more than one or two spoonfuls, and I swear I'm notttt a picky eater.
Best thing I've had there is their egg drop soup. -

For South Boston take out, Teriyaki House is king. Nearly all sushi I've had is great. Spicy Korean Chicken, Beef, and Shrimp are all delectable. Solid Chinese food as well.
Prompt delivery, but sometimes they are so overwhelmed with business that the telephone lines are busy. Keep trying it's worth the wait.
