Hit or miss reviews I notice. Well, it was a hit for me and mine. We came in with a party of 7 and were doubful we'd get to sit together but some seats opened up (the center section is 'family style' aka grade school cafeteria style aka 'community tables'). The Chips and salsa were great. The place was packed so we feared a long wait for the food but it wasn't bad at all. Might be the best quality of meat I've ever had in a carne asada burrito. And it was cheap. Granted we had a couple of kids with us and ordered only 3 beers but we got out of there for $50 for the 7 of us.
Also, being Livermore, there was a cowboy sitting near us. Then a cop came in for his dinner break. We were ready to bust into 'YMCA' but alas no construction workers or Indian chiefs came in this night. Maybe next time.

As far as "hole-in-the-wall" taquerias go, this is probably the best in Livermore. We live in the downtown and go here probably 3 times a month. Food has always seemed fresh and tasty. The chips and salsa are excellent. HOWEVER....
They lost a star because recently they started charging for an extra bowl of chips! WHAT??? Yes, a sign went up at the chip warmer which says that the first bowl is free, after that each one cost $1.00. Are they kidding? I hope for their sake the owners decide to take that sign down soon. Otherwise I might give one of the other places another try.
Having lived in Oakland all my life and have many Mexican restaurant options, my review for this place just can't be good. I went with a group of co-workers and their food looked second rate. I had a taco salad that was mostly lettuce than anything else.
From what I saw other people eating, the food didn't look good at all. Combine that with expensive prices for a normal Mexican restaurant and overall I give 2 stars. The only plus is the location, which happens to be in a nice area.
Minus 10 stars.
The food here is the shits literally!
My husband got food poisoning last night from here, eating a supreme chicken burrito.
I have eaten here and at the one on Vasco.
The chicken always tasted old and the chile verde was dry and shitty. The enchiladas sauce tasted straight outta a can. Plus they are un-friendly, and not the best prices.

I had the chile relleno plate special. The chile relleno was good, nice thin coating that I like. The rice was ok, refried beans were orange/red?? What's in them? They were a little on the dry side for me. I like them more creamy. Also tried the carnitas tace (carnitas and salsa usually tell it all). They were fine, just covered in a salsa, I generally like to add my own so I can taste the meat first. All in all a decent place if we're out that way again.

Tequila Taqueria is my favorite Livermore taqueria (equaled only by El Castillito). I get their pollo asado (grilled chicken) burrito. The chicken and tortilla are nicely done. The chicken isn't dry. They also use good quality cheese and rice. Plus, the salsa is great and the chips are decent and free. Maybe they save the good chips for chip purchases? I don't know.
The inside is clean, casual, and contemporary. They service is pretty quick and the prices very average compared to other (less delicious) taquerias. The staff is friendly. The location is perfectly downtown which is convenient, but allows for limited parking and a busier lunch crowd.
Overall, I'm no burrito expert, but I would vote for this place in a taqueria election. The reviews seem to be a hit-or-miss so maybe I've just been lucky. Try it for yourself!
Actually, I was very hesitant to come back here because of the ceviche I had...bland, freezing cold and I didnt like it. But maybe thats the way they are supposed to be?? all onions? barely shrimp?..well the family wanted to check it out; so we went there again,it wasnt bad at all. They do charge an buck for extra chips now.But at least they have the pico de gayo chile.I sampled some of my moms chile colorado and it was great...big chunks of meat and it had that sorta' mole flavor; chocolaty if you know what i mean. It was good. I had the crispy taco plate...and yes, their carnitas are damn good for the the price. They have several choices of meats to choose from .6:50 for the taco plate if memory serves. 2 crispy tacos with beans and rice. Good deal. Give it a go, you wont leave hungry. Right by the flagpole smack dab in the middle of town. Parking is kinda inconvienient, but you will find something. Its better than corporales.
What are you kidding me this place Rocks! I go there religiously like once a week!.. Well there super burrito with extra sour cream! OMG im going there after this review! Oh and they have a beer I only found in Can Cun Mexico, labeled S.O.L I cant find that crap any were.. Oh there chips are great too. Umm local favorite for sure

The carnitas are done just right! A little crispy, a little tender. I am giving one extra star for their refritos. They remind me of the refritos my grandmother made. She came from Mexico when she was a young girl. She primarily worked in Mexican restaurants, catering to the field workers that came to do farm work on a seasonal basis (this was way back in the day). Anyway, this woman knew how to cook! So, I am always comparing every taqueria to her cooking. Not one comes close to her so far, and I don't think I will find one that will.
Oh, and I was very disappointed that there isn't any tequila at Tequila's. Minus one star.

A very decent carne asada burrito. The flour tortilla was fresh and chewy. The carne asada was well prepared and the rice and beans inside were cooked right. I love that it wasn't too greasy. Many a taqueria trip has ended in being grossed out by all the grease left behind in the rolled ends of the tortilla, not to mention indigestion. The salsa bar was good although I would have liked a little more heat in all the salsas. They were however all very fresh and tasty. Even though the burrito was smaller than other places, it wasn't overwhelmed by filler like rice and beans. I thought the porportion of each ingredient was great. A little in each bite. Plus it stuck with me all day long. We ate at 12:30p and I didn't feel even the slightest bit hungry until 9pm.
The place was clean and that's a huge plus for a taqueria. I will definitely visit again.
I never thought downtown Livermore would be a mini mecca of Mexican food, but there are at least four really good taquerias within a block of each other, and Tequilas is the best of the bunch.
The al pastor burrito I had was basically perfect. I used to be a big carne asada fan, but I think that I just may swing over to the al pastor camp after today. They have a nice fresh salsa bar, but I should really keep a bottle of Tapatio in my office for those times when I bring food back with me.
They even have liter bottles of Mexican Coke and 7Up, a selection of Jarritos sodas, as well as American sodas, so if you're thirsty, Tequilas has something to satisfy almost any palette.

Eh. I like Tequila's but I dont LIKE Tequila's. Know what I mean? I've never had a bad meal here, but I've never been wowed by them either. That being said, friends of mine have gotten burritos here that they felt were pretty close to a regious experience.
Most recently I ordered tacos with a side of rice and beans. Generally that means the rice and beans are on the same plate as the tacos...but for some reason this time they came on three seperate plates, my lunch companion thought I had perhaps taken up competitive eating.
They offer standard Taqueria fare, and they have a really decent drink selection, and as noted earler their chips are yummers.

I like it when I order a burrito and I have to cradle it like a baby back to my car because it's so heavy. If i can get 3 meals out of a single purchase, then i'll say it's a damn great deal. This is the perfect halfway point between my house and the delta, so when i'm tired, sunburned and hungover from being out on the water all weekend I pit stop here and get a huge Horchada and burrito. DO it!
The Chile Colorado and Carne Asada are excellent. The prices are fair, the employees are friendly, the parking is.........what parking? My family 4-pack can escape for about $30 with food to boot. Great place to grab a quick bite.
Convenient downtown location, although parking could be better. Pretty good food, a little above average pricing. They got all the "usual" staples of Taquerias. If there's anything I would recommend, it would be the "Burrito Mojado" or "Wet Burrito", which is a Super Burrito with your choice of meat, covered with enchilada suace. Yeah, it's muy bien. Their salsa bar is pretty good too!

In the downtown Livermore area parking always sucks but not last night! Parking God wanted us to eat here because we found a spot right in front! Sweet!
Nice and clean!
They have a great selection of meats here - carnitas, carne asada, el pastor, chicken, shrimp and for the adventurous type lengua. Enchiladas, tacos, burritos, tostadas, quesidilla's and nachos.
They also have a Salsa Bar.
I ordered the bean & cheese burrito, my husband ordered the super burrito with el pastor (not sure if that is right) and super nachos with carnitas.
They bring your food to you. You don't get free chips while you wait - maybe you do and we didn't because we had nachos coming o that would be chip overload. The food came on a timely manner and it was hot!
The tortilla's were grilled - not the steamed in that machine kind, so they were nice and toasty and more flavorful. My burrito was excellent, very filling and I usually squeeze the stuffing out half way because I like eating the tortilla. My husbands burrito was good = he said everything was fresh. The nachos on the other hand were ok. They were good don't get me wrong, but half way through they became oily. Not sure if its the cheese, the carnitas or if they just fried the chips. But we didn't finish it because of that.
I didn't like the guacamole, I like chunky kind, this was on the more liquid side.
But I will for sure be coming here again!
My husband said he liked it but missed the ambiance of Casa Orzco. But LOVED the price of Tequila's. For our entire meal cost $20 and some change!
BTW - They have Coca-cola in a bottle 12 oz. and 16 oz. made in Mexico with real cane sugar not corn syrup!!! He was totally stoked about that!

This is my favorite taqueria in the Tri-Valley. I used to go about once a week but had to cut back since I live an extra 15 minutes away now. The employees are friendly and the menu is pretty big. Good chips and great salsa. I almost always get the 3 enchiladas verde plate, with cheese enchiladas (a non-meat eater here). Spanish soap operas and boxing matches can often be found on the TV. Spanish music often blares from the jukebox, but in a fun way. The location is great right in downtown Livermore.
I completely agree with one of the other reviewers that the burrito mojado is awesome! My husband and I shared one after a backpacking trip along with a taco and found it to be more than enough food for two people. Flavors are complex and satisfying. Salsas are also very good. The guacamole is the only disappointment here. I much prefer the freshly mashed avocados at nearby Contrera's Market instead. All in all, Tequila packs great taqueria food into generous portion sizes and at great prices.

I highly recommend the two-taco combo with carne Asada and jalapeno carrots on the side. I can't recommend anything else cos' I can't fathom the thought of ordering anything else. This delish combo is the closest I've found in the East Bay to having authentic Mexican food.

Great Mexican food at low prices! Occasionally, the meat can be a bit sketchy, but it is usually good. The super burrito mojado is great (though the sauce is a bit odd, I really like it) and enough food for two people and the ceviche tostada is great. If you have not tried ceviche, this is the place to change that. Don't be expecting anything fancy, but the food is some of the best in town.

Pretty authentic Mexican food, however very typical. You got your basics here(i.e. burritos, tostadas..) but the standard carne asada tacos are the star here. Salsa bar is adequate, and the homemade chips are the bomb! Place is clean, and the staff is extra friendly.
