I love Teo's when I am passing through and need a quick bite to eat.  They have those classic mini hotdogs loaded with toppings and they serve them by the dozens.  Last time we were there, we found out their burgers are great and very authentic.  They are served on toast and taste homemade.  You can't get a burger like this just anywhere.

Their service is quick.  We usually get everything to go and do not eat there.  Their atmosphere could use a facelift, but it is what it is.  If they change anything, they might risk loosing what they have.

On the basis of price and speed of delivery I would say probably 4.5 to 5 stars.  For food 4 stars but overall experience I would probably say 3.  The place is fairly run down and musty.  I would expect if a remake was ever done for deliverance they might do a scene in this place.  Very popular with the locals probably booming in their hay day when GE was at capacity now they are pretty worn down.  There is a distinct musty smell, the parking is terrible and you would guess driving by that this place was closed if it wasn't for all the cars out front at lunch time.  Still they are pack ed to the gills probably for two reasons, they serve you within minutes of ordering and everything is cheap cheap cheap.  Hot dogs with the works go for $1.15 and are very good, I can get 5-6 because they are mini.  I did notice that my topping orders were getting lost in translation as i just kept getting the same house special dogs no matter what i ordered.  Definitely worth a try, I would not go alone and be prepared to be uncomfortable sitting, probably a better option to take to go.

Place just takes cash, waittresses are a little rough around the edges.

Maybe the factory across the street alters the tastebuds so as to make these appear edible, but to a palate refined on good hot dogs, these are not. Bubblegum in a sausage casing, a veritable source of second-hand smoke, and a heinous waitress await you. Enjoy it before it's shut down- hopefully sooner rather than later.

Who cares if the hot dogs look like they were dropped in the dirt and stepped on before they made their way into your takeout bag? They're delicious and cheap, and that's all that matters. (I guess sanitation matters too, but the girls at Teo's use gloves these days, so it's all good. Right?)

I was just introduced to Teo's recently and ever since i crave a Teo mini hot dog snack.

These 4 inch hot dog don't have a normal hot dog flavor. it's is bit more like sausage. The only options for toppings is mustard, catchup, onions, and chili. I highly recommend the chili. It's not your normal beef an/or bean it's smother with more of a nutmeg flavor.

AND they are only $1.25 a dog! A new and better spin to the dollar menu.

I recently had a business trip back to my home town.  I had to stop at Teos.  Same as it was a long time ago.  Love the place.  I got 4 with mustard, chili and onions.  So good.  Hot dog perfection.

I usually don't like hot dogs very much, but at Teo's, I have to make an exception and eat 3 or 4 with all the toppings on them.  The hotdogs themselves are tiny, so I could probably eat 5 or 6 of them if I was hungry enough.  They're really cheap too.  The place itself is tiny and kind of dingy.  There is some seating aside from that at the bar, but not much.  But when you come here, it's for those juicy delicious hotdogs, not the atmosphere.  My dad and brother and I used to come here to eat and watch Red Sox games from time to time, and for that purpose, Teo's fit the bill perfectly.

I'm distressed by the notion that one might have to "work up the nerve" to go to Teo's.  I mean, everyone knows that our generation is the softest yet, but should we really be advertising it so baldly?

Actually, I guess it's too late to worry about global perception: our two most prominent cultural exports of the past decade are the seasonally-limited fast food sandwich, and a television show where ludicrously muscled men express their masculinity through eyebrow tweezing and tanning.

Anyway, for those of us who can still work up the nerve to darken the threshold of unfamiliar bars that have been reviewed favorably by Berkshire Living, a reward awaits at Teo's.  And, no, that reward isn't the angelic (or is that terrifying?) faces of the many small children who can often be seen eating dinner there.

Mini hot dogs in buttery, locally-made buns.  Unlike most store hot dogs, which more closely resemble the "meat sticks" you can find in the baby food aisle, these have a good snap and texture.  I'd have liked mine a bit more done, but it didn't really matter when they came fully loaded.

Also, iced mugs of beer for $1.70.  Sure, I can get a sixer of Genny tall boys for $3.50 at the grocery.  But who would ice my goblet for me?

Don't come looking for a huge diner type place with a bright sign.  This little joint is on a corner but not well noticeable.  It almost looks like a small local bar...which I guess it kind of is.  Smells like a permanent hot dog inside and it's small, but had a good amount of customers sitting at the bar, at tables and taking orders to go.  The staff isn't friendly (at least not to us) and THE SERVICE IS SLOW! We ordered fries, hot dog and spicy sausage patty on a bun.  Maybe it was because of the sausage but we seriously waited 20 min for our "fast food" to go.

We ordered and watched as hot dogs were piled on the grill but we just kept waiting.  The fries were average and the sausage was disappointing.  We should have read Yelp reviews because apparently the hot dogs are MINI.  Yes, very small...prob need three to equal one real hot dog.  Still despite the wait, despite the average fries and ok sausage the hot dog was very good.  Small, tasty and mighty.  It comes with a chili type sauce and it all meshes well.  Just pick up the service and give a smile and this place would be a true winner.

Our family loves to come here for the hotdogs and lemonade.  The atmosphere is very (very) bar casual, the hotdogs are small but tasty, with a casement that is so crunchy the hot dog stays very juicy.  Love the hot dogs with everything on it!

If it weren't for yelp, I would have never stumbled upon this gem.  My family thought I was crazy as we drove farther and farther from the center of Pittsfield, to a sparse area out by the now defunct-GE plant that looms over the town.  When we walked in with my 8 year old niece, we immediately spotted a table full of kids the same age and I knew I did good.

We came for the mini-hotdogs which I read so much about.  They were tasty, as were the burgers that we ordered.  We all agreed that the burgers actually stole the show, with the perfect amount of grill marks and flavor.  I even got one to go, on our way out.

And the prices just can't be beat.  1 dollar for a hot dog?  1.70 for a burger?  Pretty sweet.  And the girl serving us was actually the daughter of the owners, and she told us that her family has owned the restaurant/bar for about 20 years or so.  When I told her about yelp and how great the reviews were, she mentioned that Berkshire Living wrote them up too, and pointed to the article hanging on the wall.

So if you are following the lead of yelp or that magazine, just don't freak out by the look or location of the place.  It's a bustling, kid-friendly local joint with great food, tons of regulars, and really nice employees.

I've been eating at Teo's for as long as I can remember. Most of my family still lives in the Berkshire's and I head to Teo's as soon as I'm back in town! I've eaten hotdogs, literally all over the world, but very few stack up to the taste and originality of Teo's dogs.

Teo's has been around forever and it has all the elements of your typical dive bar. The inside smells of 20-year-old cigarette burns. All the waitresses graduated high school in the 70's and have been working there since. The dark wood fixtures and dimly lit dinning room allude to a different time. Walking into Teo's is like taking a step back 2 decades. None of this is a bad thing though. The reason you go to Teo's is for the food!

The restaurant is known for their mini hotdogs. The all-beef hotdogs come in a natural casing. The meat mixture is extremely flavorful and they taste great plain or with toppings. Teo's signature dog comes topped with deli mustard, finely chopped onions, and meat sauce. The meat sauce resembles Cincinnati chili and has a slight kick to it which balances out the sour from the mustard. Teo's hotdogs always come in steamed, New England-style finger rolls. I usually eat about 6-8 hotdogs with everything and wash them down with a pitcher of cold beer.

Teo's is extremely affordable and the experience of being in the restaurant and eating their mini hotdogs is something you don't really see anymore. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who's planning to visit the Berkshire's or anyone who loves a great hotdog. Teo's is one of my favorite restaurants in the world, you have to try it!

Run down joint, hard to park, scary if you're not a local, but delicious if you work up the nerve to go.  This seems to be the place to be if you are in Pittsfield at lunch time.

    Cash Only

Small hot dogs on small buns with the work (mustard, onions, chili).  While they were good, I would probably steer away from the chili next time, but then I wouldn't be eating anything special....so who knows.

    Anyways, great place....cheap....local favorite....bad parking.

Teo's! Teo's! Good for eating in the restau surrounded by sports (even if you're not surrounded by sports, you're surrounded by sports) and babies and "mature" folk (Teo's gets you talking like this), OR in a car when it's raining and you're hungry, never mind that woman who's staring at you because you're parked outside her house, OR at Wacona Falls watching the sky or rocks or the nakies, if your hunger spreads to your crotch, like it does for your companion.  Make sure you get one or two extra hotdogs, 'cos if you can't finish them, someone else will.  That said, I usually think of my heart and place small orders.  My record is 6 + 1 (dining in) and I am 5 ft 3.5 and 120 lb.  This means nothing, of course, except that the mere thought of TEO'S makes you list irrelevant data.

A couple times here and I still don't remember what "everything" means in terms of toppings.  Chili? Onions? Maaaybe pickles? Ketchup? Mustard?

Those little hotdogs.  I miss them.  I'm scared they won't be as good when I return.

Years ago when my step-father started seeing my mother he told me one day that we were going to drive two hours (a round-trip total of four hours) to grab hot dogs in Pittsfield, MA. At first it didn't make sense to me, but then we got there and ordered. I fell in love!

As others have said, Teo's is really just a small local bar that looks like it hasn't changed much since maybe the 70's.  Everybody I have ever met who has lived in the Berkshires knows of Teo's and I've often seen whole families chowing down on these delicious dogs any given day of the week.

Whenever I stop in to show friend's of this place or just for a great lunch, I make sure to pick up no less than a dozen dogs. I love everything about these things; the snap of the tiny natural casing hot dogs, the signature Teo's chili sauce, the steamed rolls. I love unwrapping the two dogs wrapped together joined by a mess of that chili an hour later in the car. Honestly, they may even be better an hour later, having had time to cool a bit, as the sauce seems even more flavorful then. The one and only gripe I have about this place is that they only take cash, which for some reason I always seem to forget until I get there with an empty wallet, so make sure you stop at the ATM before you get teased with a whiff of these amazing hot dogs.

This place has become a tradition for me, my family and my friends. I will tell you I have made numerous trip out to Pittsfield just for these dogs and if you haven't, you don't know what your missing.

This is one of the few establishements that still exists from my parent's childhoods. They would come here, get a couple hot dogs with mustard and Teo's sauce, and chow down. Now that I'm older, I look forward to visiting when I'm in town and doing the same. It's hard enough to find quality hotdogs anymore that aren't oversalted, especially the minis, but at Teo's you get the weathered-neighborhood feel (you can just imagine all of the GE workers that would file in everyday at noon) and a delightful lunch. Reminds me of my grandfather... who would dunk his hotdog in his coffee ;)

Teo's is a bar.  To those who don't like bar food or are tourists, this place is the best hot dog in town.  Rhode Island is usually famous for their weiners, but Teo's in Pittsfield should be a National landmark.  If you go here for anything but the mini hot dogs or beer, you're insane.

Buns are steamed, baby weiners are cooked up and typically served with everything, which consists of onion, mustard and the mysterious chili.

My advice: order ahead and bring them up to the lake to enjoy with friends.  If you've never eaten inside, that certainly is an experience in itself, too.

Very cool neighborhood bar feel to this place. The service was quite friendly to me, although I'm not from around here. The hot dog's were delicious; they somewhat reminded me of Ben's Chili Bowl in DC, but midget-sized versions. I'd go here again if I'm ever in the area, but this is really in the middle of nowhere. Note that they do not accept credit (only cash) but there is an ATM there.

First of all, if I weren't from Berkshire County, I would never find myself stopping here. it's a bit peculiar; even a bit scary, if you don't know any better. But I grew up in Lee, Massachusetts, a mere 10 miles from Teo's. Years have passed and now I live in San Francisco, a distant 3,000 miles from Teo's (give or take a few).

Whenever I'm on the East Coast and within a three hour drive of Teo's though (New York, Boston, etc...), I reserve a day of my time and make the sojourn to Pittsfield. Forget Gray's Papaya. Teo's is the real deal. I can't wait for my upcoming visit to MA in June! Six with everything and some Genny Cream Ale!

Teo's is the standby for us when we aren't sure where to go for a quick bite when we're in the Pitt. My husband grew up in town and has eaten at Teo's many many times over the years. An old high school tale of theirs is about one of his buddies that used to work there and had a back to back shift and apparently slept on the roof over night rather than go home.

At any rate, this is a bit of a dive bar, but in a good way. Not scary at all even if you aren't a local. You'll often see families with kids during the day, in fact.  Parking isn't an issue. The tiny hot dogs are super incredible excellent and you can get a pint of Genesee Cream Ale to go with them. Yum.

Okay I will admit that my expectations were set high after reading the reviews for this place.  I walked into a place that looked like a cool little bar to hang out in.  Saw the price and menu and my mind was leaning towards 5 stars already.  Then went up to the counter and waited there a little longer than I should of because everyone working there was talking about some nonsense with the regulars sitting at the bar.
My order was taken and I waited.  I was watching sports on TV while another customer came in and said hi to everyone and made his order for two more dogs than me, got his order and left...  then another guy came in made the exact order as me and left.  I got up to walk to the counter to see what was wrong with my dogs when they finally were done.  Obviously, I am not a regular so my money is not as good.  I am giving them 2 stars because the dogs were very good...  or should i say Dog because driving down the road i realized they screwed up my order...

Five stars if you have a chaperone and/or enjoy: the bar atmosphere, "whaddya want? here" service, a place full of regulars.
Teo's has really cheap, tasty food. Their hot dogs are the most famous and close to no one gets anything else. Other things on the menu I've tried: hamburger (served on sliced white bread with a couple pickle slices) and grilled cheese. All items are served on paper plates.
The standard Teo's hot dog ("with everything") comes with mustard, diced onions, and a meat sauce. It is not spicy. It's tasty. That's it. This code word of sorts is why a chaperone will probably help boost your experience at Teo's.
The hot dogs themselves are made locally at Whorle's meat. Their flavor is unique and really can't be compared to any other dogs. They're served on steamed buns. If you're getting them to go, make sure to check out the preparation method. A veteran will line a bunch of buns on her arm (they're always female) and plop the toppings on with the professionalism of a sushi chef.
Other hot dog toppings I've seen include:
everything with ketchup (a little sweeter)
cheese (an actual slice of cheese, not sauce),
    onions only
ketchup only (felt like a waste to me)
everything, no onions (onion flavor won't be in your mouth for hours this way)
nothing (tastier than with ketchup in my opinion)

Enjoy your Teo's with a frosted root beer or regular beer.

Some things never change and thats a damn good thing because those baby hot dogs are so good. In my opinion they are best with mustard, onions and the Teo's chili. The setting is amazing - should be used in a classic blue collar film as the hang out. When you walk in you are hit by a great steamed bun smell and hot dog. There is a full bar stocked with regulars telling hunting stories etc - and a small kids party room on the side. absolutely no frills and as my bf's dad said hasn't had a face lift in 40 years . But who cares its clean and the hot-dogs are terrific - slightly larger than a cocktail wiener - in a sized to fit bun - I went will all the fixings which included the chili sauce. Next time I will get Kraut and mustard. I wanted the bf to take me back the next day - but we had to head in another direction boooo. The price per dog may be slightly over but hell a place needs to stay in business!!! PLEASE TAKE A CHANCE AND STOP HERE ON YOUR TRAVELS.

I moved to Pittsfield two years ago and was introduced to this gem by locals. Great little hot dogs at an excellent price! Pretty quick lunch service too which makes this a good half hour lunch break stop.

Quick, polite service; seat yourself when you go in and someone will help you almost immediately. Know what you want before you go in because they are ready to take your order as soon as they get to your table.

I usually get three with everything (three hot dogs with chili, onions and mustard) with fries and a soda. My stomach is full afterwards but my wallet retains some heft =) . Recommended!

We had to go to Staten Island for a friend's wedding that took place on Friday. We flew in on Wed., so that we could go to a separate mini-family reunion in Stockbridge. Forget about meeting any of the distant family members... we drove almost 4 hours in a rain from JFK to Pittsfield, just to make a pilgrimage to Teo's.   Oh yes, those hot dogs are even better than the last visit.

I moved from the Berkshires to California almost 30 years ago, but whenever I come back to visit relatives Teo's is a must stop! It doesn't get much better than "3 with everything" (mustard, onions, chili) and an ice-cold beer.

The funny thing is that I almost never eat regular hot dogs; I find them bland and usually lacking the "snap" of real sausage casing. But Teo's mini-dogs have a very satisfying snap, the rolls are steamed (which I prefer to toasted) and the ratio of dog to toppings is perfect.

The hot dogs aren't 25 cents anymore, but otherwise I don't think that the place has changed much in all those years. In this case, that's a good thing and cause for a rave review.

These other reviews could not be more wrong. The front desk at our hotel recommended this place so we checked it out. They serve mini hot dogs that taste like rubber with the worst chili I have ever tasted. After the meal we all(4 of us) agreed it was the worst eating experience we have ever had. The dogs actually ruined the night because nobody felt well enough to do anything after eating that rubbish. STAY AWAY!!!! You are better off eating a can of dog food.

this is the BEST hot dog you will ever have, and you will need at least four to prove it. the method of stacking them up their arms while adding the incredible toppings is mouthwatering and a feat of delicate balance! yummy steamed buns, mini dogs that pop when you bite and the unique toppings are a party in your mouth. we used to drive 45mins to quench this craving growing up. half the time getting the dogs - eating them in the car - and going back in for more. the place has NEVER changed and i love that. get at least one of your four dogs with "everything" - you will not regret it.
