Review from Karen N.
Rowland Heights, CA
I'm writing a review on Ten Ren's at Ten Ren's, ha! (Currently drinking their Apple Green Tea while typing away).
There are plenty of boba places in Rowland, but Ten Ren's remains to be one of my favorites. Aside from having good drinks (you can actually taste the tea in their teas), they also have a great lunch/dinner menu.
My favorite drinks:
* Jade Milk Tea with Boba: matcha flavored green milk tea. Tastes kind of like a green tea latte. Not too sweet, love it!
* Apple Green Tea - tastes like Fuji apples!
* Honey Green Tea
My favorite foods:
* Beef Noodle Soup
* Seafood Noodles
* Takoyaki
Prices here are kind of expensive so I don't come here often, but it is a good place to hang out and catch up with friends on an occasional basis.Listed in: Asian, Boba Places!

Another review for another Ten Ren location...
I went here years ago with two girlfriends and I really liked my drink. I went back again recently to see if I still liked it.
Ordered iced grapefruit green tea, salt & pepper cuttlefish balls and a bowl of steamed rice.
Iced grapefruit green tea: grapefruit tea is my favorite tea from Ten Ren. It's not as good as Monterey Park Ten Ren but it's still good.
Salt & pepper cuttlefish balls with a bowl of rice: I didn't want to eat too much so I ordered a side order of cuttlefish with rice. It was pretty good and filling.
Free wifi @ Ten Ren is always a plus because the wifi is pretty fast. The place is good for yelping but not so much for studying. The customers are pretty loud here compared to other Ten Ren.
Easy parking too but there's this security guard who is giving evil eyes to customers. A car was waiting for a parking and he kinda blocked our car. The security dude looked upset at him.
Then mr. security did it to me and my friends too. He gave us a dirty look because Lisa was getting out from my car and my car blocked Lisa's car. It's probably his first job as a security guard and he wants to "protect the world"..probably a new guy LOL
4 stars!!
Ten Ren's salt & pepper cuttlefishballs are yummylicious!!Listed in: Chinese food-authentic & non…, Wi-Fi for yelping

I like their yogurt green tea,
My usual order is a flavored tea, no milk no boba.
If they can get my usual orders correct and delicious I'm happy. -

3.5 Stars!
Grape Fruit-Green Tea is so refreshing! My favorite Ten Ren is in Atlantic Square. This location has an AOK lunch special. I love popcorn chicken (extra spicy and basil please!) and asked for it here. It came with average chili and only a little basil. That's OK because the tea made up for it.
This location is large. Music is loud, but if you bring earplugs you may be able to get some work or studying done with FREE WIFI!
Almost a fan of this location! -

San Francisco, CA
I may have rated this place before, but this time I'm giving it 4 stars because:
1) it is one of the few places open late
2) their drinks really are delicious, just overpriced since you can get boba for less than $1 around the corner
Over Christmas, a few of my high school friends and I who live all over the country now, decided to meet up here. They were able to accomodate our party of 6 and the service was decent. Even though we stayed for a couple of hours and each only ordered a drink, they were polite. (Although, I think this is the case for most of the customers)
Their honey teas are really yummy :) -
Review from Nancy T.
Even though I've griped about the prices a bajillion times, I still love Ten Ren's! No one can quite beat the amazingly authentic taste of their tea. My latest obsession has been their almond milk tea. My boyfriend started getting their royal milk tea, as well as their jade milk tea - and both are great! :)
One star down because I noticed the crispy chicken is kind of declining in taste. Last time we ordered it, they served it with less basil and it tasted kind of dry. Nonetheless, it was still quite tasty and much better than the chicken at all the other boba competitors.Listed in: Best of Rowland Heights

Irvine, CA
Im on the edge about this place.
This place is awesome...because it some of the greatest TEAS/BOBA Drinks that Ive ever had. The tea they use here is a quality and taste that is different from other shops that use ordinary tea. The difference is the taste! The boba even taste guud as well! Chewy to the right texture and right munch :)
HOWEVER...
the $$ is ridiculous!! and they dont accept credit cards I believe?? unless its over $20??
THIS PLACE WILL DO WELL...FOR NOW at least...; )
What am I talking about??
Half and Half Tea Express is opening up in the same plaza ; )
...watch out TEN REN...new boba spot is coming into the same plaza
UNTIL THEN!! ^-^ -

YOU CAN DO NO WRONG IN MY EYES, TEN REN'S. NO WRONG.
I come here for quality boba + drinks and I am seriously the happiest boba chugging girl when I leave. Their boba has the most heavenly texture, is just all around fantastic and maaybe the best thing since sliced bread. They also go through a great deal to remind you that their boba is not cancerous! HURRAH.
I highly recommend (HIGHLY!) getting their passionfruit green tea. My boyfriend showed me the wonders of their PFGT and it is definitely the business. I honestly compare every passionfruit green tea to Ten Ren's now and they undoubtedly have the best one on this side of the Mississippi.
I would consider this Ten Ren's to be considerably larger than their other locations AND they have this nice little pimpin' VIP looking corner in the back (which I assume is just normal seating but sometimes they fence it off with some VIP-looking tape).
The food tastes bomb (popcorn chicken, anybody?) and they have the "mini" portions menu which is perfect because they're cheaper and perfect size for snackin'.
The only downside is the price (okay, maybe you can do a little wrong in my eyes). I love this place because I come here in moderation (and thus, less crying done by my wallet). I always make sure to ask for easy ice so I can maximize my tea-age (whoop, go Asian me!). But otherwise the best boba around, hands down. -

El Monte, CA
Loud and crowded, but a great place to hang out with friends or get some light work done with the free wi-fi.
// SERVICE // Good although at peak hours, it may be hard to flag down a server. The drink preparation may also take forever sometimes.
// FOOD // Although this is predominantly a drink place, the food is actually quite tasty.
+ Taiwanese sausage: Sweet and savory at the same time.
+ Fried tofu: My fave snack food item. The outside is perfectly crunchy and lightly battered while the inside is soft and silken the way tofu should be. The dipping sauce also pairs nicely.
+ Passion fruit green tea: A strong tea flavor which I enjoy although it is still on the sweeter side even after asking for the drink to only be half sweetened. -

Only tried it once and never wanted to come back...
I got the Taro milk tea, sweet, VERY POWDERY, & the boba straight out sucked. There were pieces of powder floating in my drink, wth?? Maybe I went on a bad day?? Or ordered a crappy drink??
& my cup was sticky... not to nit pick but I hate sticky cups *ahem Tastea...
I'd rather spend my money at MJ Cafe (when they used to be in the same plaza... apparently they've moved now to a bigger place). -

It is not the fact that they have thick Chinese accents. But the male waiters here are the most quiet people ever to serve me. I had to have him repeat my order a couple of times because I couldn't hear what he was saying.
On top of that, my take-out order was sitting on the counter for the longest time and no one bothered to tell me it was ready to go! I guess you cannot really expect great customer service from an Asian place but all I am asking is a little bit of courtesy. Please? -

It's like any other tea place. Nothing too exceptional. They have a tendency to make their drinks really sweet so I always ask for half sugar.

Pricy. Still cheaper than Tea Station
Lots of people hang out here. Never tried their food here ever, only got drinks.
Mango ice green tea is good when you don't feel like milk tea and want a clean, simple, refreshing, sweet, yet tea flavor.
Amazon teazer. They blend the boba just a little bit, so its a little shredded. Sounds strange in concept but the texture ends up working out really well. -

Good Ol' Ten Ren!
Like many have mentioned this is a great place to study. They've revamped their menu over the years but I'm especially loving the mini portions they offer now (perfect to snack on while studying). Their drinks are always consistently good. A bit on the sweeter side though.
There are a lot of characters here let me just tell you.. great place to people watch if that's your thing. Gotten hit on by some weirdos here but the bright lighting and busyness of the plaza gives me a weird sense of comfort.
Hate parking here but on a good day, the lot is filled with some serious JDM cars. Makes for some serious eye candy if you ask me :) -
Review from mike c.
Located in the once popular Diamond Plaza Shopping center, this restaurant is a nice addition. A good chill or hangout place can be found here.... provided you don't mind the crazy drivers competing with you for parking spaces! Meeting some friends for an early dinner on a Friday night, we arrived early to find many young (20's or so) gals and guys pounding away on their laptops (maybe a student hangout) so I assume that Wifi is available here. Ten Ren is a famous tea company in Taiwan that opened numerous tea-selling retail stores in the major U.S. cities with substantial Chinese population (SF, NY, LA, Monterey Park, etc.). Recently, they started this chain of sit-down and takeout stores; unfortunately, there isn't any in San Francisco as of this writing. I chose a passion fruit tea drink to start and had the following for dinner:
Appetizers (shared)
Boiled or steamed dumplings - Tasty with a soy-sauce/vinegar dipping sauce.
Fried Tofu - Crispy and served hot with an interesting sauce too.
Entree
Beef Noodle Soup - Generous bowl with spinach and tender beef pieces. 4-stars in my book.
Though there were some delays in getting our food and mix-up on the orders, the atmosphere is relatively relaxed here. They are opened pretty late for those who want to get their homework done or meeting up with friends. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. -
Review from Alice C.
WHOA, I didn't know this place serves a full menu of grub. YUM!
I had the iced coffee here and it wasn't too sweet which seems to usually be the case with all these specialty drinks.
O - if you want to feel like you're in Asia, this is definitely the spot. Or if you want to be entertained, people watch!! =P -

I came here for the second time on a Tuesday night and it was still packed. I had the iced mango green tea and the plum flavored sweet potato fries. I loved both!
They give you a discounted price on refills for drinks.

Extremely over priced drinks. If I'm paying $5 for a milk tea with boba, I expect quality, not some Hong Kong plaza Lollicup shit. Well that's exactly what I got and I wasn't too happy. At least make it look artisan.
I ordered a Milk Tea with pudding the other time and the pudding was in small cubes. This make it extremely difficult to enjoy.
I am not a fan. -

I've only tried some iced drinks and some Japanese style appetizers which weren't that good. The milk tea here is quite watery compared to other places, but apparently this is their style. At least they have free wi-fi and is open late.

A awesome place for delicious and fresh Tea!
They have a variety of Tea drinks you can order and Boba.
Drinks I would recommend are Honey Milk Green Tea, Passion Fruit with Aloe Jelly, Mango Green Tea, and Apple Green Tea. Be sure to ask for less ice and half sugar as usual because it dilutes the drink and the drinks are on the sweeter side.
I would also recommend trying the restaurants food such as the three cups rice or grilled chicken. They also have good appetizers such as fried chicken and hot pot soups.
The restaurant has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating and they have a television that is usually on ESPN. The noise level is a bit high.
Overall, friendly service and tasty food! -

I got their green milk tea with boba and it was good. I had their food a long time ago so I can't really judge, but it sure smelled good.
They are your typical boba place....though definitely a few notches higher than Tapioca Express! -

La Jolla, CA
One of the better but pricier place to get tea/boba. I always get the Love Potion #6 with boba and it's freaking good. It's basically a concoction of green apple + something else that's yummy. I also tried their cold mango/peach green tea and they were pretty http://bomb.com too. Boba is tasty as well! It gets pretty crowded and noisy here at night so the service might not be the greatest. It kind of took a littler longer than expected to order our drinks when I went at night. But other than that, the place is pretty clean and organized.
You can always to-go your drink if you don't want to wait for a table and pay the extra tip :D -

Got a mini YELP-respond from the manager of Tea Bar because I said their Orange green tea can't compare to TEN REN's
I dont care, nya nya nyahhhh.
TEN REN's orange green tea is SOLID 5star deal!!!!
(The manager from Tea Bar said that they used FRESH ORANGE JUICE or whatever. TEN REN'S orange green tea FTW!!! and I don't care what kind of orange juice you use, you use it correctly and perfectly, and when I drink it, you make me happy).
*****oh yeah, 5 star ONLY for this item.. for other items.. there's Mastercard, I mean, other yelpers***** -

Covina, CA
If you've got a hankerin' for some Bobage or other drink and need a place to chill, this is a pretty nice location. Tables are aplenty, and they're big enough to relax at and chit chat or play some cards.
Food and drink here is mediocre for the price, typical of Ten Ren's and Tea Stations that I frequent. Personally, I would rather drink Lollicup milk tea and it's cheaper. If I'm going to pay the price of Tea Station, then I might as well get some delicious Half & Half.
Two stars because service is terrible. Once you're seated and your order is taken, say bye bye to your server. I was never given the water I had asked for, and so I sat for about 2 hours dehydrated from my "whatever" popcorn chicken. The fact that there are servers who think they don't need to check up on tables (well, at least once) gets me all hot and bothered.
I do like the setup and location though, where else can you hang out at until 2am and only willing to spend about 6 dollars a person? -
Review from Scott N.
For a Tuesday night, this place was packed!
I decided to order to go since I came straight from 24 Hour Fitness and was by myself. There was no line for to go orders, awesome.
I stood there for about five minutes before someone behind the counter was able to help me out. There were only two guys making drinks so it was understandable.
I ordered a large iced thai tea with boba, and it came out to $5.xx something. Pretty expensive to me..... Wait time for the drink wasn't that long. I would say about two minutes tops.
Got my drink, tried it and was perfect. Compared to other places, most do not know how to make iced thai tea. It's usually either watered down, waaaay too sweet, or not sweet at all. The boba was fresh and chewy.
Found my place for a thai tea fix whenever I need one! -

Ten Ren's has always been a to-go place for my friends and I.
My favorite entrees are their yummy beef wraps, pork chop noodles, and pan-fried udon noodles
I really enjoy their mango shaved ice. Mango, mango syrup, condensed milk, red tea, and vanilla ice cream. It tastes like shaved milk tea! Paired with a scoop of ice cream, it makes for a creamy, refreshing dessert. However, the mangoes have been consistently sour. In comparison, the mangoes used in the mango shaved ice at Phoenix (Yes Plaza) have been consistently sweet. I've made multiple visits to both cafes throughout the year. Ten Ren's also makes a nice red bean shaved ice topped with green tea ice cream.
My friends love their strawberry cheesecake. The fluffy whipped creamy really compliments the creamy cake, but I'd lay off the strawberry sauce (too sweet).
Ten Ren's serves one of the best to-go teas within the area. Their tea is good quality and their milk tea is fresh, not artificial or packed with sugar. Pricier, but tastier than most of the surrounding boba chains such as Lollicup, Dolphin Bay, Quickly's, etc. My only gripe is that their boba is flavorless and not sweet like they used to be (Half & Half nearby serves some nicely sweet boba).Listed in: Boba and Bread, Taiwanese Eats, Places to Sip and Chat

Alright... I gotta update my review cause the one i gave was pretty noob.
Need a place to study? need a place to watch a basketball, football, or baseball game? how about a place to hang out with friends and play some cards? Then Ten Ren is the place to go!
My numero uno favorite drink has to be the Love Potion #6. To some it can be really sweet. But to me it quenches my thirst perfectly! On a cold day I like to get the Hot Honey Tea. Both have good taste and i HIGHLY recommend both. I used to get the green tea here, but my addiction is the Love Potion #6. lol
When I want to grub down on some Ten Ren food, I like to get the beef with egg over rice. Taste great and fills me up to the max!
Price: It can be pretty pricey. around 5 bucks for my Love Potion #6. But I don't care. I still get it.
On the weekends it can still get packed in there. So if your going to try to study don't forget to bring some headphones or earplugs.
Service is good. Everyone is friendly. And if you go there enough times like me, and order the same thing over and over again, you won't have to say what your going to order cause they'll already know! lol
Wifi is slow though. And its a 2 hour max time limit.
Great overall place. And since i'll be starting school again, be prepared to see me all the time ten ren! haha.
(and i gotta retain my mayorship of this place on 4sq.. ;O)Listed in: Dig asian food?? Well I dig it…

Royal Milk Tea... delicious!!
Ten Ren's has good food and quality drinks but it's well known that they are just too expensive for broke ass students like me. Having other business besides stuffing your face with expensive stuff makes paying to be here worth it.
Do come for the free WiFi and kinda hip and kinda spacious atmosphere for homeworking and hanging out but never just for a drink. -

Rowland Heights, CA
They claim to use fresh fruit in their drinks but my tongue claims otherwise. It doesn't deter me from ordering though; Ten Ren is proof that artificial drinks can still taste good.
The passion fruit teazer is sweeter than expected; after a while it becomes a bit sickening. I suppose it simply depends on your sugar tolerance, because my friends down it cup after cup.
The peach teazer is less sweet and definitely more satisfying.
However, if you're looking for an amazing fusion of (artificial) fruit and tea, don't expect it here; the teazers don't have any trace of tea, as far as I can tell.
Fried rice cake and fried udon have always been my favorite entrees. Both dishes are practically the same (just with different forms of dough) and contain pork, cabbage, and mushrooms. They're very satisfying and the servings are moderately large.
From past experiences, however, you should be very wary of the forgetfulness of the waiters/waitresses.
When I was little, they told me that gratuity is not the same as tip, and made our party of little 13-year-olds pay extra.
Another time they got my orders completely wrong, giving me both the wrong drink and wrong dish. Because of this they had to remake everything, and I was left hungry and thirsty longer than I had hoped.
Hopefully they've educated their staff since then. -

Came here today by myself. And yes there are a lot of Asian guys just hanging outside. I got looks from a couple of the guys. Haha. But other than that, I just sat outside, and drank my almond milk tea with pudding. I got a large, and the total came up to $6.53. Remind me next time to get a small! Haha.
This place is cool, if you just want to chill out, and sitting outside, while reading an ebook is great! And no one comes and disturbs you, asking you if they can grab the chair that is at your table, because they hadn't realized that they were down one chair at their table.
I think the tea was slightly expensive, but it was pretty good, so yes I will probably be coming back real soon! :)
And I guess the minimum purchase with a credit card is $10. -

I came here with a friend and we liked it. The waitress was super sweet & helped us choose something cause it was our first time.
I got the strawberry teazer and was delish. It was a great place to hang out with the bff & seemed like there was a young crowd there. It's super spacious inside with a lot plasma televisions.
There's also food, which I would try next time and update! Even though I enjoyed it here it took forever for us to get served when it didn't seem busy.
Enjoy! -

The drinks here are okay and the service can be hit or miss.
If you don't like smoking or navigating around the spit, it's better if you sit inside. Everything is really sweet for me so I just tell them to use less sugar in my drinks. -

This seems to be a poppin' place in Diamond Plaza now that Life Plaza closed. I wasn't impressed with their expensive drinks. The boba is too sweet. The taro milk tea is watery and chalky.
PROS
+ Convenience
CONS
- Expensive
- Wait time for drink to be made

BOBA AT ITS FINEST.
Some places have tea that's too sweet, where all you taste is the corn syrup. Other places have tea that's too strong that it ends up tasting bitter. Ten Ren's tea - especially their Green Milk Tea, my favorite - is a different story. Honestly, almost every cup I have is a perfect balance of tea, milk, and sweetness. Perfection, literally. It's mind-boggling how flavorful their tea is.

Chino, CA
I used to frequent this place much more than I do now, but its still a great place to sit and chat with friends. Sometimes during the afternoons when there aren't as many people, its also a good place to study and/or get some work done.
The place offers inside or outside seating (for those that smoke) and also has free wireless. They've gotten smart now though, as use of the internet requires a code that they generously hand out. However, one must use a new code every 2 hours or so. The tables sometimes feel a bit close together, and the place does get crowded towards the evenings when everyone is there to hang out (parking gets bad at these times too, but there is an underground and overflow parking towards the rear of the buildings when needed). The atmosphere inside is open and welcomes people to chat and converse.
The service is always friendly and if you go often enough, you do get to see some familiar faces there. The food is generally not too bad, but their menu offers items that are much more suitable as snacks also, which is nice. Items are always freshly prepared and a good filler. Not a place to go dining at, but a nice midway for the day.
The teas are good, though many consider it pricey. I typically order a hot tea that's brewed in the pot, such as the Tea King 109. You can request for a carafe of hot water as well and just keep refilling it...instead of ordering a new $4 drink every hour or something (For those that sit there for 3+hours at a time like I used to..) -

I used to come here all the time and the crowd has kinda changed from super fobby to more Americanized. You can also kinda notice how the store has been redesigned to be catered that way as well. No more Chinese music videos or Chinese designs and what not.
The food is pretty authentic but being in Rowland Heights you have so much alternatives if you're truly looking for good Chinese food. I was SHOCKED at how expensive drinks at Ten Ren were now!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Came here for their fresh fruit drinks and I loved it! I had the strawberry mango with boba and lychee jelly (my usual wherever I go). I don't know what it was maybe the thicker consistency, the actual flavor of real fruit but I managed to slurp my whole drink and that says a lot. Price was reasonable too and I like how the restaurant is also a sit down where you can order food too. Place is big enough to accommodate a larger group and you can just chill while sipping on your drink inside.

Diamond Bar, CA
Here's the thing- you don't come here for food (it just bothers me how I'm paying almost $8-$11 for fried rice/noodles?!) or milk teas (always so watered down the many times I've gotten them :/). You come to Ten Ren's for tea (green tea, black tea, you choose your weapon of choice). They're really good at it. No joke. For a bunch of college kids, they're pretty good.
DRINKS: I usually get the green tea with mango jelly (delicioso!), honey green tea, or my all time favorite: Love Potion #6- holy balls! This sh*t just got real! :O I won't spoil the flavor of this MYSTERIOUS drink for you all cause it's that awesome. You'll just have to order it yourself and savor the EPICNESS of this Love Potion (not #9, it's #6!)
FOOD: Ummm. What to say. Not the best in my opinion. But they do have good (pressed?) bean curd that comes with this really delicious sweet/slightly salty and spicy sauce. It's boiled, so it's got this soft texture when you eat it, yumm! I hear it's an acquired Asian taste though (not a lot of my Caucasian or Mexican friends liked it when we ordered it... LOL, more for myself!) And they have pretty good minced meat over rice for $3.99 (one of the cheaper items on the menu, honestly will say that you can get it cheaper some place else) But not enough meat to mix with the rice so the consistency is off. BUT! The meat aren't so chopped up that they end up being the sauce itself, instead Ten Ren's chef did a good job in proportioning the meat so that they're actual small chunks that's still edible. Refer to picture: http://www.yelp.com/bi... And they come with an EGG! OMGAH. Even better! Okay, off to their popcorn chicken: unappetizing and kinda of gross. I got 5 pieces of meat and the rest were chunks of fried stuff. The ones with meat were over fried and hard, too much seasoning to even realize it's chicken. C'mon people, how do you mess up popcorn chicken? Want good popcorn chicken? Go elsewhere. End of story.
P.S. Parking is nuts here on weekends at the front of the plaza. I honestly would not come here driving some nice car cause people will ding your car and the spaces are RIDICK I say! Plus a lot of patrons that come here don't read traffic signs (it'll say 'one way' and them Asians will go the other direction against traffic and they don't stop at stop signs). I'm just sayin'! ;)Listed in: Los Angeles County!, You Do Asian? I Do Asian!, Boba, Crepes, & Sweets!
