Temple University Orthodontic Department
2 reviews for Temple University Orthodontic Department
If you haven't noticed, times are tough. Paying six or seven grand to get your teeth straightened may not be realistic these days....but paying $3300 for it just may be.
Enter Temple Orthodontics, a graduate program of 12 residents dedicated to creating a smile that you love. Don't want to see braces on your teeth? No problem. Both Invisalign and I-braces (braces on the backs of the teeth) are offered. In fact, the chairman of the department (Dr. Orhan Tuncay) wrote the first textbook on Invisalign treatment and was instrumental in its development!
As if that isn't good enough, Temple Orthodontics has a brand-new state-of-the-art clinic opening May 2009!
Horrible.
If there was an option of giving 0 stars, that's what this place gets.
I can say that my wasted $300 is worth wasted if I don't want to f-- up the rest of my mouth.
Due to the negligence of a fellow "Student" Dentist, I developed TMJ. I am certain because that was right AFTER my Records Appointment. She stuck an over-sized model into my mouth, straining the muscles on my jaw. I assume that my jaw is strained and probably got realigned or out-of-place because I have trouble chewing food, which is extremely painful to do so.
I gave this fellow Student Dentist a call because I have not heard from her. I told her my story and she told me to give my Family Dentist a call. Seriously?
When I contacted her, I also asked her if e-mail would work because it would be the most convenient way to contact me. I gave her my e-mail and asked for hers; she said that she would e-mail me on the spot so therefore that would be unnecessary. She in no way e-mailed me back because it has been a week or so, and I received nothing.
I did go to my Family dentist and he gave me some advice and directions that my STUDENT DENTIST did not even attempt to help me out with.
I visited the Orthodontic Department and attempted to speak to the supervisor. The lady at the front desk contacted the supervisor's secretary and said that the supervisor had interviews. She said that I could leave a message and then I will be contacted again. I wanted to personally speak to the supervisor, so I opted to wait an hour.
Waiting for fifteen minutes or so, the secretary comes over and I assumed that person was the supervisor. I explained my situation to her and she says "So you think the Dentist hurt you?" or something along those lines. Of course I think she hurt me. I felt like she did not believe my story and thought that I was making things up.
So... someone who does not have the credentials to judge my situation thinks that I am making things up... Okay....
After that, I waited again and the secretary came back with a pen and note pad. I again told her that I was able to wait for the Supervisor. She tells me that s/he was busy with interviews and something along the lines of a meeting... Okay... She asks me if I want to speak to my Student Dentist and I told her no.
I got extremely emotional explaining to her that I was in severe stress because the TMJ caused me headaches, and trouble chewing my food. I also had trouble brushing my teeth because I could not really open my mouth.
So, I said that I came by because I wanted to see what I could do. Because I do not trust that lady with my mouth anymore. Before the treatment even started, I am already in pain. She is not patient, nor careful. Her carelessness has caused me inconveniences and a huge headache. If I was to continue with the treatment, I will be scared of what might happen during the process....
I suggested that I would like to switch to another dentist and the secretary told me that they have their own policies.
...Wow, so their policy is more important than what their customers feel? I understand that there are policies but I don't think that my request was an absurd one. I have a legitimate reason for why I do not want the current Student Dentist to follow upon my treatment.
After a few hours...
Instead of getting a call from the secretary, of course the Student Dentist wants to try to seem like she cares. I visited the office at 1:30 PM and then she calls me at 3 PM. She left me a voice mail saying that "she heard that I had difficulties with my jaw" and that "I can schedule a time to come in" and she could see what she could do.
I did not want to talk to her... I wanted to talk to the supervisor.
First off, I do not want to see her anymore because she has done enough (and has done NOT enough) in the first place.
She offered no service to assist me when I called her to tell her I had a problem with my jaw because of the appointment we had initially. She only acted when I went to complain about her...
Not worth my money. My $300 wasted is a lesson learned. I guess it's better now to see the incompetence of this place / this lady, before I actually go into the process and something screws up.
Oh yeah... let's even see if the secretary calls me back. Haha.....
