*Date: October 10, 2009 - Karen's 22nd Birthday

I recently went to Temple Nightclub on a Saturday night to celebrate my sister's 22nd birthday! We were a party of eight, and had arrived fairly early, at 10:20PM to be exact and was able to get into the club at 10:50PM. Although we were a party of eight, we were on a guest list so all of us received complimentary admission! And as usual, the staff was very kind!

As we entered the club, we walked through the crowd (and it was really crowded) and went to the bar to order drinks  - midori sour ($9 each) ; this drink was delicious ... sweet, a bit sour and tasty! Aside from the drinks, we had a great time and danced the night away!

My friends and I had such a great time at Temple ... great company, great crowd, music, and drinks ... a great night to celebrate my sisters birthday! If you're in San Francisco, I highly recommend that you check out Temple Nightclub ... it's the perfect place to be when celebrating birthdays, or even a girls night out!

I used to be all about this place because I never was aware of a cover...
And I was pretty drunk by the time we'd hit this place up and I thought the Dj's would be killing it...
And I used to enjoy dance clubs..

Now I'm just over it. Bartenders are not the business here, I'm sorry I'm not a cute little asian girl or a greasy looking guy. Apparently you need to be one of the two to get a drink around here.

Haven't been back in a few months but to be honest I don't intend to. Temple, it was fun when it lasted.

After waiting in a line fit for Disney Land, a half hour later we got to the pay area where ... oh what... $20 cover charge?! Not so fast.

Ya, that was okay for LovEvolution but not for your average Saturday night.
We did go on a whim and didn't check the website beforehand...so we coulda woulda shoulda saved ourselves from waiting out in the cold only to leave without entering.

Yelp, it's about time you let us do half star ratings!  This place is a solid 3 1/2 stars, but I had a good time so I will upgrade a little.  I like the modern white decor and the visual effects.  The DJ was playing pretty decent dance music. We were here on Saturday night and there were a lot of people, but it wasn't too crowded to dance.  Just right!  I don't like the $20 cover, but it's worth it when there is enough space for me to dance.  We checked out the downstairs hip-hop scene and it wasn't for us.   It felt like they ran out of money to remodel downstairs.  It looked dirty and dark.  The bottle service sit down area on the top floor looked very comfortable and has a good location.  We may consider it for the next time depending on the size of our group.

Paid 10 bucks everytime for cover. The upstairs reminds me of Vegas in a way. It's nice. The downstairs is like a whole other world. It's grungy and the ceiling is really low. The music they played the second time I was went was SOOO horrible. I don't blame it on Temple itself but I do blame the DJ. Parking lot right next to the place so you won't need to walk to far to your car. Try to find street parking, it's free at night. The crowd is mixed and diverse but sometimes there are those boppers that go there. You know the teens that get their friend's cousin's fake id's. Ooooh.

I like electronica. I even will tolerate house. This club manages to mangle both. Your typical jackassery magnet in the heart of a great a city, it's only a matter of time before it's generic, boring, tired formula wears out it's welcome and it dies the death of the many clubs that are exactly like it: Overpriced, overhyped, and done.

Worst of all? It bored me.

I always have a good time here. I've only been here a few times but the night I loved the most was when I went there for new years eve and they had Diplo headlining. They have good music and is pretty spacious with a huge main room dance floor and two rooms downstairs playing different music. I haven't been there in a while and it looks like I might need to pay Temple a visit soon..

Pros:

Very cool environment.

A lot of room to move around.

Most of the staff is nice.

Cons:

The ridiculous "RSVP / Guest list" that all douchey clubs seem to have, resulting in 45 minute wait in line for an almost-empty club.  Looking popular from the outside really doesn't mean that much, does it?

One bouncer was a total d--k to a friend... for no reason, on her birthday.  What's weird is that she's a hot girl--aren't bouncers supposed to be pushing hot ladies through the door?

A huge fan of the Prana restaurant, I was interested when my friend and I headed here to check out the nightclub version.

The house music was decent, and I really appreciated the different rooms spinning different music, and that all the rooms were different sizes.  Sometimes it's a bit much to be in the main space, and the room downstairs was a great little hiding place to relax.

Favorite part though-- sausages!  They have a sausage vendor right next to their back outdoors patio.  Those sausages were delicious.

After hitting up the clubs in luxurious cities like Vegas where women are treated like queens, there's 2 things I hate about clubbing in the city - waiting in line and paying ridiculous cover. I don't know how many times I had to run out of line to try to sweet-talk the bouncer in letting our massive group pass before 11pm just to ensure our $5 guestlist cover. Perhaps if our guy-to-girl ratio balanced out last night, it would've been a bit easier. Luckily, even though we didn't get to the front until 11:15, they let our entire party in for $5 and didn't even bother to check the gl for everyone's name. How suhweet is that!?

I remember my first time at Temple being way more crowded. It was nice not having to booty bump into everyone on the dance floor this time, but it still didn't solve the ventilation problem they tend to have in the lower level (where they've got hiphop). The music was really bad and I didn't hear 1 top 40 hit, but I managed to have a fun dancing the night away with my peoples (minus the mega sweatiness in that sauna-basement).

The evening came to a halt when our birthday boy ended up in the hidden EMT room for puking out all his free drinks. Ya heard right...an EMT room!! Unlike other clubs I've been to, the bouncers here actually care about their guests by passing them along to 2 medically trained personnel rather than throwing their drunk asses out onto the streets. They offered free water bottles, face towels, and garbage cans for the overly intoxicated to take care of their business without ruining the venue. Until you're sober enough to walk back out to the club or your friends show up to take you away, you're not allowed to leave their sights. I thought this was such an awesome and thoughtful idea. WHY DON'T ALL CLUBS HAVE THIS COURTESY!?!! Major kudos to management for thinking of this!

So, after a fabulous dinner at Salt House, the plus one and I downed a couple of red bulls and walked a short distance under the freeway to Temple.

The decor, at first glance, made me think that this was merely a lower budget version of Tao in Las Vegas, but turns out that not only are there multiple rooms and levels with something for everyone, there's also an amazing abundance of places to just chill out and people watch, which they DON'T have at Tao (unless you're in the VIP). And that makes all the difference.

In a past life, I used to work at clubs in San Francisco, so I have extremely low expectations (i.e. someone getting a hand job in the stairway or elevator would barely warrant a raised eyebrow from me)  - but what impressed me way more than the music (which was awesome, by the way) was how much fun everyone was having, whether that was crowding the DJ, or dance circles or what have you. Despite the fact that we were all probably under the influence of something or other, everyone seemed able to handle it, and i didn't see one fight that night.

Like I said, low expectations. Mine were pleasantly exceeded.

It was a work day and we're old, so we cut out around midnight, but this was the perfect way to work off that dinner!

I love Temple because it's upscale, the music is good, and the decor is fabulous.  I've always had a good time here and the crowd on weekends is decent.

I like this venue less because of the long lines, difficulty of finding street parking, and limited number of bartenders.  Overall, still a great place to party in SF.

With the exception that this was yet another touristy venue that reminded me of the south bay nightclubs, Temple wasn't so bad on an eagerly awaited Friday night party session

Prana Restaurant turns into Temple so there is a reason to the cool surrounding pink, purple and green neon lighting and huge dance floors to match the ambiance of the club along with the east asian décor (ie. Gi-normous Buddha).

We stayed after dinner and got a couple drinks while the bumpin' house music started playing on the main floor. Even though we skipped paying for the $25 cover charge, it still wasn't a reasonable deal after paying for a mediocre $40 meal.

The lines were forming fast at around 10 pm and by 11pm...the lines were long. Get here early to prevent ass traffic and high heel chafing from standing out in the line.

If you like house, electro, techno...go to the main floor and dance to the beats that DJ is spinning on stage

If you like hip-hop, r&b, pop mashups...go to the bottom floor and shake the sugar lumps but this all depends on the DJ. The music choices were great but the music did stop a couple times...oh please, such a NO-NO for disc jockeys

What I noticed from both floors were the dance-offs that were formed in groups...at that moment I wasn't sure if I was at a showcase or DWTS or what...many spectators just standing on the dance floor to watch...kind of annoying but in a way kind of entertaining.

I'm not going to be a Temple frequenter, however, I do love their house music and I heard that there are performances here by world renowned electro-house DJs but I would rather shake my sugar lumps at Ruby Skye.

I do like Temple! Big club with different rooms. I always love that!
But, it can get COLD inside the club on the main floor because the front doors are wide open and blowing gusts of cold SF wind right at you (which may be great when you're sweating bullets, but for us girls who love to dress in short skirts, it's awful...leg hair grows back in a matter of seconds)! Now that I've officially turned off a shitload of guys, how about we all complain that they build some sort of barrier against the wind? Thanks!
Will go back but definitely gonna wear jeans or tights!

1st timer to house music and I simply loved it.  This club is huge but I wish it had better ventilation however, the smoke from the stage blowing out to the crowd from time to time was a little refreshing since it sent a cool breeze.

I did not but I so wanted to get a hot dog or sausage by the smoke out area.  All that dancing made me lose a pound and a half.  Hell-yes!

Definitely a fan of this place, since this is the only actual club club I been to in the Bay! Pretty similar to clubs in my hood LA!!! But I was very impress, even though I was wasted and I could vaguely remember but I had a fun time here.  I was pretty tipsy before I even got there.

There was no line, maybe because I got in around 12:00, the place wasnt packed packed, but it was definitely poppin, with plenty of room to dance and mingle.  I honestly seen a lot of cute girls there, mainly asians, I hope they werent beer goggles, but my friends told me I was dancing and talking to a lot of cute ones! Man the girls there were soo nice and open, I probably only got diss like 2 times.  I dance with a lot of differ girls, and mingle with a lot of them.  Coming from LA where the girls are more snobbier I definitely loving the girls at Temple.  They actually smile and hit you up there! That's whats up Frisco! Showing love to the bay from a guy from LA!

LOL back to the review!  I only remember two rooms, 1st floor and down stair, down stairs was hip hop, and upstairs was house LOL I think, correct me if I'm wrong Sorry! Anyways I like the vibe there! no fights no drama, everyone nice and cool, real talkative!  I will go back every time I'm up in SF!!!

-enjoy!

Definitely a good experience for clubbing in SF, compared to other places that I've been to.
Came to Temple SF for our friend's birthday on Friday 10/2. He wasn't driving and I was... time for payback for all the other times he had to drive me!

Music:
3 main rooms with 3 types of music going on, trance on the top floor (which is  ground floor), hip hop and something else on the bottom floor (basement). I didn't stay in that something else much, had enough alcohol in my system to just stay in the hip hop floor.
The 3 large rooms made it look empty enough when we got in at 11:15, yet lots of people had already made it inside the club. It allows for lots of people without the crowding feeling. I didn't feel like a can of sardines.

Alcohol:
Plenty of bars, I counted 3 on the top floor, and 2 on the bottom floor. There was never really that long of a wait for alcohol in that sense, because of the sheer number of bars and bartenders. There was this one bartender, girl with a piercing (on the nose? or lip?), she served great amounts of alcohol, so good tips for her from me and my friends! Shots of patron were actually served in these plastic cups so I'm pretty sure they weren't 1 shot in volume; plus she gave more alcohol than the bartender next to her... so that's a WIN!
We bought the birthday boy enough alcohol for the night, suffice it to say...
Pricing is was a bit steep for the shots, 11 for grey and 12 for patron, but a Tanquaray and tonic was 8, and beers were 5... but then shots were almost double shots, so that was pretty worth it!

Crowd:
Pretty mixed, there were definitely groups of Asians and lots of white people of course. Some breakdancing occurred in the hip hop room, of all places... none as great as UCI bboys team and UCI dancers.

It was a $5 cover for being on the "guestlist" which they didn't even check our names off, and they let us in after the "11pm cut off". I thought that was nice... more money for us to spend on alcohol, is what more people would think.

Though my visit was short lived, I would have to say Temple is my favorite club in SF that I have been to so far... It has EVERYTHING I would want in a club:

  * Seating!
     * TECHNO upstairs (not top 40s--though that is downstairs)...
[best dance club I've been to in the city]
        * A hot dog vendor inside--drunk munchies!!

  * Smoking area awayyy from dance area
     * 3 distinct rooms to check out, not an over crowded main room
        * Chic decor... haha I dug the atmosphere

__________________________________________________ _
Reasons why my visit should have sucked:
Negative: 3 people in my group ended up in the EMT room
Positive: Its cheaper for them to take care of drunkies than call the cops/ambulances...the EMTs were super nice to my friends and really helped a lot.

Negative: Hot dogs were 5 bucks...gave a 20, and he gave me 6 1's change...A$$hole. Didn't see in the dark I guess...
Positive: Karma is a bitch...hopefully.

Negative: My friend's wallet was stolen from her purse when she left it alone at the VIP booth...
Positive: Well you should never leave your purse alone at a club regardless, but its a lesson learned. Thankfully she had nothing valuable in it really...Cards canceled.
__________________________________________________ _

Regardless of these negatives (and one of the punkass EMT room dwellers who caused my night to end early) I had a good time and can't wait to go back. I hope to go back to Temple soon because it was definitely really sick. Check out their website for bottle service prices and guest lists. You can get in for FREE -- no cover -- if you RSVP (online) before 8 on the day you wanna go.

The good shit: quick line, free on guestlist before 11 (this is a deep house with marques wyatt night, so keep that in mind), sicktastic music.

As for the rest -- i have trouble reconciling the rest of the club. From the crowd, which was ecclectic to say the least (elton-john-esque clad 50 year olds + azn's + people vegas'd out + house dancers in beanies and asics), to the weird layout of the dance floor, which is on f'ing tile and makes it incredibly difficult to really dance and not play slip and slide. Oh, and the really dingy looking basement section pumping hip hop with no breathable air, in comparison to the entire rest of the club that's supposed to be done up and probably resemble Tao in some sense. Doesn't necessarily make it a bad place, just confuses the shit out of me.
Would probably come back for the music, if anything.

I went to this place when it newly re-opened a while back.  been back a few times since.

For a place that touts upper-scale nightclubbing this has NOTHING against LA clubs.  I'm sorry.  I understand in SF most places are smaller so it's harder for them to come up with elaborate / posh environments.  This place is huge in SF standards!

3 levels...lots of tables.  The basement level seems like purgatory though (like I would know how purgatory feels like).  I'm not the tallest cat..but I feel tall when I'm that close to the ceiling.  And when it is crowded there and you're sportin' your best sweater or anything heavier than a light dress shirt prepare to sweat.

Overall, don't like this place.  Unless you can get in free..don't really bother.  I've only mainly been on Asian nights so it may be different.  Darn asian invasion...

To celebrate a birthday of me and my friends, we decided temple was the place to be.

A few things stood out to me:

- Bottle service had a line.  BOO i'm paying you $400 for a bottle of $30 Grey Goose.  get me in the flucking club already.

- The main stage spun House music.  Thank flucking god no more of that top-40 Garbage.  I heart House.

- 3 different stages, two of which are in the basement.  Cool idea, but did you ever stop to think about how my drunk ass is going to get up and down the stairs?

- An EXTREMELY nice group of EMT's.  They gave out free water!  Plus, my 4 people from our party decided that after killing my bottle of Grey Goose that they should all head to the EMT room to puke up that $300 bottle.  Mind you, we got into temple at around 10:30ish, and our EMT mini-party started at about 11PM...

- My super nice host bought me the biggest birthday shot of vodka i've ever had...But i might have accidentally tipped her 80 bucks for the bottle.....could that be why?

Basically....Temple was a sh!tshow, and I wouldn't have it any other way.  and Kudos to two of the three troopers held up for as long as they could;  Chandler M. was not one of the two.

Although I was going through so much drama last night, I won't let that affect my review for this place. I definitely would've had a fun time if it wasn't for the drama, so I'd come here again. The most crackin' night is on a Saturday. Make sure you put yourself on the guestlist and get in before 11 to pay the $5 cover. It is $20 if you come after 11, which I think is too expensive for anyone to get in a club unless you're in Vegas because Vegas is more worth it.

I am a fan of this place because if you feel like housing, you can go to the house room; if you feel like grinding or dancing with your b*tches, you can go to the hiphop room. I'm a fan of both music so I got the best of both worlds.

The decor is really nice with glowing walls and lights. Plenty of couches and tables to sit which I really liked.  I'm from San Jose so I've been to clubs there, and there's barely any places to sit! So A+ on the decor.

I gave  this club 4 stars because DRINKS ARE EXPENSIVE. $12 for an AMF in a party-size cup?!! It's ridiculous! My bartender made it good...but WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. I'm glad I pregamed with my friend Captain Morgan 100 Proof before getting in the club, because that AMF was the only drink I bought!

ALSO!!! If you have AT&T or Verizon YOU WILL NOT GET RECEPTION IN THIS CLUB. This was part of the reason why I had so much drama last night. So if you need to call and meet up with someone, you'd have to dial from upstairs or the smoking section. Minus 1 star for Temple. I don't know how they'd be able to fix that problem...I know it's probably on AT&T's end.

The cool thing is that there is also a parking lot on the left side of the club. Except you have to pay $10.  I rather fork in $10 than trying to find parking in the city. And this parking lot is good for overnight. Most parking lots allow you to stay until 2am. So if your drunk a** is too drunk to drive, then sleep in your car. It's not worth getting a dui or an accident!

I like multi-level clubs, the City is littered with teeny tiny places that don't let us breathe!  Even on a busy Saturday night, we were able to get our groove on on the dance floor and not elbow our way thru.

High Energy Music on the first floor and the hip hop heads in the basement.

We had a good time :)

Much love to the bouncer who let three lovely ladies thru the red rope, so we didn't have to wait in line!

One star taken away for the super mini 7up back I asked for after a shot of patron.

we got there really early so there wasn't much of a line outside, and we got in before 11pm so only paid $5 for cover since we all signed up for the guest list.

one of our friends had bottle service so we were able to hang out upstairs...except the hip pop room is downstairs and i'm more of a hip pop girl. however the hip pop room got soooo hot as the night went on...it's like the san jose to the san francisco that is the main room. overall it was fun because i had good company :)

Came here for Halloween and Valentine's Day.  Downstairs in the Catacombs is fun, but it feels a bit claustrophic prob due to the appearance of low ceilings and dark atmosphere.  The room next foor is the opposite and really bright with white couches.  The music upstairs is really deafening and it's all techno and heavy beats that make you feel like your heart is about to pop from your chest.

I've gone to this club 3 times already and have gotten in for free (guestlist or promoter), so at least I never had to pay....because the club is definitely not worth it.  The lady that checked us in was super nice and for some reason extremely enthusiastic about saying hello to all of us.  Upstairs, there is a huge room that plays house music while downstairs (which I would liken to a cave), plays top 40/hip hop music.  It gets outrageously hot down in the cave (sweaty people, not so good) and people spill drinks everywhere.  They should think of switching the djs (but then no one would go downstairs i guess).  Ending thoughts - it's not a terrible venue, but just don't pay to get into this club...

3 stars because the place is huge and actually has seating when you get tired.

Temple is a pretty big club that offers 3 rooms with dance floors featuing different music genres. Upstairs featured house music while downstairs has a techno room and a hip hop r&b room. The decor is pretty cheesy and kinda reminded me of high school prom. The crowd is a good mix I guess but a lot of people were D-bags. Kept hearing that fights often break out here and guess what, the night I went a fight breaks out. Go figure.

Drinks are pretty damn expensive here and they are served in plastic cups. Very watered down drinks so if you wanna get a good buzz I suggest getting a tokyo tea or long island or any drink of that nature where its gonna have high alcohol content.

Not the greatest club in the city but worth checking out. Good for large groups.

Wasn't sure what I was expecting when this place was recommended to me.  I guess we were looking for spectacular, seeing how it was recommended and in SF.  I suppose it had the same dance club feel to it, just like any other club I've been to.  The concept and decor of the first floor was really nice.  I loved the chic-ness to the place.  You find the chic-ness when entering the place and to the first room for dancing/bar, but what happen down below in the second room?  Given the fact that it was hip hop music down below, but dude...it was ghetto.  So what, hip hop music means ghetto?  Doesn't seem right to me.  Low ceiling, no ventilation, and the pillars were decorated like we were in a cave.  It's like they spent all there money upstairs and didn't budget right for down below...wow...ghetto.  One good thing down below was the music, it was mixed pretty decently.  Plenty of seating throughout the club (in all three rooms), which is nice when most clubs you only have seating in bottle service areas.  I would think most girls would agree having plenty of seating is great.  I liked the fact there was three rooms with different music being played.  Overall, the place was ok.  :-)

It was sometime in September 2009 when my friend and I decided to head over to Temple a second time in over a year. The night we were going, Remedy was promoting it, so there was a lot of house music and bit of a more laid back vibe. We were some of the first guys in line so we got in without a problem. It's a two story club and the layout on the top floor that gets you on the main floor is pretty nice, a nice long bar, and the lighting is decent, but nothing out of the ordinary.

It was pretty dead so we decided to migrate downstairs which had more of a underground club feel to it. There was a small bar and a entrance to another room which had white couches with a black lights that gave it a nice feel. The room wasn't very large but they played some decent house music. The main dance floor on the lower level was quite large but wasn't anything special. They were playing some kick ass old school hip hop and there was a group of break dancers meeting up. A bunch of fellas and girls dressed in their breaker get up and giving each other props. So I'm thinking that this might be good... I was wrong.. these guys were somewhat decent, but seemed like amateurs acting like they were the next contestants for ABDC.... Lame lame lame... Dressed the part, but hardly played the part...  The house dancers were mediocre.. In fact it seemed as if the girls were the better dancers in the entire groups..

Overall, had a good time at Temple, they made decent drinks and played good music. But most people kept to themselves and some seemed to have inflated egos about nothing. There wasn't very many attractive girls, and way too many guys.. But there wasn't any troublemakers starting fights, definitely the more mature crowd. I'd go to Temple again, but I wouldn't get too excited over it.

This is my most recent "Clubbin" experience to date. My friends and I went here to celebrate my friend Stephanie's 21st bday. We signed up on the guestlist because lets be honest I don't want to spend $20 to get in and like $50 at the bar...nah son...ain't happenin'...so as with any guestlist early arrival is reccomended and yes we did not pay a dime to get in.

They had several rooms (I counted maybe 5) and it kind of felt like walking around the indiana Jones Ride in Disneyland. Seriously it was kind of eerie but cool. The bartender hooked it up with the free cranberry juice because I wasn't drinkin' that night.

Now for the important parts:

-MUSIC: the hip/hop room was hella sick...the first DJ was a BEAST...he killed it on the 1s and 2s playing some Pharcyde, Tribe Called Quest, JDilla and some other dope ass shit that I NEVA EVA hear anywhere....dope as hell. Then toward the end of the night he still played classic old skool and some true 90's hip hop and about 5 radio blasts like "U a Jerk" and "Stanky Legg"...lmao.
- they had a techno/high energy room as well ( more like 2 of those)

-PEEPS: mainly asian, one token black guy, hella middle eastern cats, and a few latinos here and there, the girls were way prettier than the guys...and I swear i saw Kid Cudi there or some guy desperately trying to be him...heheheh

-Only negative part was that for the first hour I felt like a judge for America's Best Dance Crew with all these hurt dudes trying to break dance and almost kick a bitch in the face....nah son not cute but everything else made up for it.
- kinda hard to breath and hott once you spend ur night shaking your ass but there is plenty of places to sit and rest up...nice leather couches not vomit ridden velour stools like other joints...overall cooo spot chill peeps and GREAT MUSIC!

This is my new favorite club in the bay!

There are 3 different rooms, house music and hip hop (not just mainstream crap either)
The decor is awesome - i felt like i was at disneyland in the indiana jones ride or something in the hip hop room! The other two rooms have different themes too.
There's ample seating in all the room and and it's not reserved for "VIPS".
There were some actual DANCERS there, not just "look at me i'm so cool and hot" There were some breakdancers in the hip hop area which were fun to watch.
The there are 3 bars, I think, so everyone isn't crowded at one and the whole place is HUGE so it's not super crowded like some other clubs i've been to.

NEGATIVES: the bathrooms weren't that clean, the woman at front didn't know what she was doing when she was looking at the guestlist. there were multiple lists so she was flipping through them all and couldn't find my name! get your shit together!
There's also a TWENTY dollar minimum on credit cards and they didn't seem to have a tab system, so I was stuck working out drink orders with my friends. so BRING CASH! Also, the AC needs to be WAAY better ventilated!

All in all though, it was a really fun club and I will definitely be going back!

By far my MOST FAVORITE place in SF.

My review might be biased because my friends threw me a birthday surprise by getting VIP and bottle service, but whatever... it adds to a memorable experience.

I was absolutely impressed by how decorative this place was... when you first walk in, Temple definitely portrays its name by having a lot India type decor.

Then you walk a little further and it's the "white room" (as I call it.) This is where our table was at... big white couches secluded from the dance floor a few stairs up. Here, they play dance music and there's plenty of room to dance.

Then you walk downstairs to the "basement". This was where they play hiphop/rap so this tends to be more crowded and the crowd not so fun. Guys trying to grab at you and when you tell them to stop or walk away they call you a bitch (wtf was that all about) and the girls giving you dirty looks. I'm not quite sure what's with the hip hop/rap crowd but they are just not the type of people I want to hang out with.

So I spent a lot of my time at my table/"white room" with the dance music.

Another perk to Temple was one of the bartenders was really nice and even hooked it up...

Three bars... two main dance floors... Plenty of restrooms (even if the lines are long they are quick) Basically you can throw a birthday party here and have everyone taken care of. =)

TIPS:

Park in the lot right next to Temple it's $10 (UNHEARD of price especially in the city!)
And guestlist online at their website... $5 cover.

I've been to TempleSF multiple times and I've always had a good time. They have different rooms playing different types of music. The basement plays HipHop, which usually gets crowded and REALLY HOT/no air. The up-stairs plays house music. They have at least 4 different bars to get alcoholic drinks and THEY EVEN HAVE A GUY SELLING HOT DOGS RIGHT IN FRONT of the smoking area section. That's pretty legit! The decor in the place is pretty beautiful. I had my birthday here and had THEE BEST TIME with my friends :)

The line is pretty ridiculous to get into the place but if you remember to put yourself in the guest list and come before 11pm, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to get in. I remember one time my girlfriends and I forgot to put ourselves in the guest list and we talked to one of the promoters for Temple about the unfortunate situation... and he let us go in for free.

What a lovely club! Visitors from outside SF: nix that Ruby Skye and come here instead if you're looking for an aesthetically-pleasing club experience.
If you look good in purple lightiing or want to dance when you enter those tricked-out Virgin America plane fuselages, you'll be right at home here---bathed in purple, blue, and pink on top of stark white floors and walls. You'll find the main room in this decor, along with a side room up front and a smaller lounge area downstairs. If that's not your style, then venture to the "Catacomb" room (yes, they name them); nothing fancy here, just black floors with movin bodies and a dj. This is probably where you'll have the most fun, if you're into the music they're playing. There are also lounge seats on the side when some chill time is needed, and of course every room has a bar. Just watch out for the pillars. They lack a patio or smoking room of some kind, so the area allotted to that purpose is basically a cordoned-off patch of pavement out back if you can find it.

Supposedly you can get on the email guest list and only pay $5 before 11 or midnight. Quite a few groups of people seem to reserve a table and do bottle service here, and though I can't speak from experience, it seems like it might be a nice place to do that for a special evening.

Nerd moment - do any Harry Potter readers remember the Veela, the women who hypnotize everyone? I would swear that the pro dancers here are part Veela. As soon as they come out I just stop in my tracks and find myself entranced for a few minutes before looking around and realizing that at least a few guys near me are in the same state. Whatever they're doing, they're great at it! And very classy.

I remember going here when it first opened quite a few times and it never let me down. We even ate at Prana Restaurant - pretty good food! I liked their black rice item..

Drinks are your average steep price: $8-$10 for your standard cocktail. They have two levels, upstairs is house music, downstairs is hip hop and theres another section lit up in white that has a mini bar and lounge playing more house music.

I always have fun here, never too much of a problem with bathrooms, etc. Always speedy pee and recovery. WEE! (literally).

I rated it 3 stars because the bouncers are assholes and never let the guys in which pisses us girls off. HELLO! Sometimes we want the boys to come into. Girls just want to have fun. If your bouncers chill out, I'll raise my ratings.

I loved this club!
+3 dance floors, main floor is the best with house/trance, hip hop dungeon was good at times depending on the music, smaller floor with lounge? music was not my taste but a nice lounging room (no pun intended)
+lots of sitting space
+nice bars but don't know the prices
+outdoor smoking was okay
+security was open minded and didn't kick out my drunk bf on his bday and didn't escort him too much either (save some embarrassment on my part)
+heard there was an EMT room
+bathrooms are better than most other club's bathrooms
+$5 guestlist before 11, sign up before 8 online
+test your luck, you can get street parking for free within 2 blocks

minus one star for...
-$20 cover charge (we didn't make the guestlist)
- ^ and lady bouncer was a bitch about it

I'd go there again!!!!

Showed up here on a Friday night just after 11 with a group of friends and found a line of about 30 people waiting to get in. We were on the guestlist and tried to cut the line, but the bouncer said the club was "at capacity." After figuring out the appropriate name to drop and getting in, we walked in to find the place completely empty. Like maaaybee 10 people on the main floor and 30 people downstairs, most of whom were my friends who were all there for a birthday party. At capacity my ass.

Anyways spent most of the night downstairs trying to dance to crappy music. Didn't realize there are multiple rooms so maybe I was just in the wrong area. I would say that I'll try to explore the club more next time, but honestly I would probably never come back. Oh but the drinks seemed pretty strong - only had a couple and was pretty done by the end of the night.
