this is my second time here and it's absolutely delicious! today, i had the turkey+herbed mayo+avocado burger that came with a side salad. everything about the meal was fantastic ... including the price tag: $10 (with tax).

Decent food at decent prices. I never felt the food was bad and i was never wowed. The service is good. I come here because it is the first spot I found (near my place) that lets me bring my dog. I plan to go back when it gets warmer.

Slow and slower service and the place was even empty. After placing our order, the waiter disappeared. No one followed up to make sure our order was served. We asked several times about the status of our food. Finally after 45 minutes it arrived. Lamb kebabs were chewy like taffy but less tender than beef jerky. I waited for this? Also, rice was hard like gravel. Original waiter was still a no show. No one knew where he went. What the dealio, Telio?

Bleh, not a huge fan of this place. The food is actually not bad and I'd rate it a solid 3 star. However, the service here is consistently slow. I don't think it's really the fault of the waiters.. they're just vastly understaffed and you could place the blame on management for not recognizing this.
For example, this past Sunday the waiter got my friends' order wrong which further delayed her meal. We had already waited about 20 minutes for our food to come out and then she had to wait an additional 15 or so. And they didn't even comp anything .. not even a drink or dessert. That is not cool. I'd rather take my money and eat elsewhere where the service is much better. -

Recommended by a friend I decided to check it out. The moussaka had a hit of cinnamon, the salad was fresh, and the baklava contained raisins? Figs? Currants? Whatever it was it was delicious. The entire meal, eaten in the evening of a warm autumn night under the awning on the sidewalk reminded me of sitting with my family delighting in my yaiyai's culinary skills learned in the old country.

The fries are delicious. We come here as an occasional haunt after church every other month or so and I get try everyone's dishes. The prices are very reasonable and I agree with Jill A that the octopus is delicious!
Family friendly, which is perhaps why for the past reviewer there were a lot of kids. I've never had a problem with having a lot of kids there so perhaps he just got unlucky.
It's not strictly Greek fare as there's American fare on there too but I can't decide if this should count against them (as purists) or for them as the food is still delicious.
Looking forward to the next Sunday we show up. =) -

This is one of my favorite spots in the city-- and some of the BEST greek food. The Grilled Octopus is fantastic (and I usually hate octopus) and the Haloumi alone has prompted a special trip. Round it off with the Chocolate Baklava and you won't be disappointed.
Recently I ventured from my favorite to try the brick oven pizza, and was not disappointed. Oh, and almost every single time I've gone the waiter brings us some little treat- a drink on the house, a taste of dessert- just because.
All this said, the music can sometimes be very loud after 9pm, though the staff is very responsive to turning it down if you ask, which my boyfriend and I have frequently. Some friends have gone and were disappointed with the slow service- so I let my rating reflect that. But if you are going to sit down for dinner and visit with your dining mate, this is the place to go! -

Simply the best Gyros I have ever tasted. Whenever I go there I order from the takeout side of the restaurant. Great quality lamb, fresh veggies and pita. Don't miss out on this treat!

If you like Taramosalata that tastes like its been sitting under the Tuscan sun all summer, this is just the place for you. Sure they have a nice combination of Greek and Italian entrees, but perhaps they are spreading themselves too thin.
The service was abysmal - it took us almost two hours to complete this meal (Greek spreads and spaghetti with meat sauce--nothing fancy) - but at least the waiter was cute. And I guess the $7 glass of Sangria wasn't too bad.
But mostly, I just kept thinking to myself: why, when I can eat at 20 other places within a half-mile radius, would I EVER eat here? I'd rather go to McDonalds.
I'm being generous with my two-star rating. -

I've started reviews before by saying "I wanted to like this place a lot more than I did", but I don't recall ever starting a review like this:
I wanted to like this place a lot less than I did. When I read that it shared a kitchen with the pizza place next door, I thought it was going to be pretty terrible, but I was kind of tired, and their like a block away. So I figured what the hell?
I asked about the penne alla vodka and about one of the chicken dishes. My waitress, who was very friendly and attentive, suggested that they could actually add chicken to the penne alla vodka. I love penne alla vodka. So I was sold. It had a very good flavor and was a good sized portion. So I would say I was pleasantly surprised. It was a little heavy on the garlic, onion, scallion type of items; but I kind of like that. It allows me to fool myself into thinking that women are turning me down because my breath smells like garlic, onions, or scallions.
I also tried the baklava. It had a very good flavor, but the phyllo dough on top could have been cooked a little better. It seemed like it was neither soft, nor flaky, but kind of chewy.
All in all, it was a pretty good meal, especially for a place that shares its kitchen with a pizza joint; and their open until 12 about a block away from where I live. What more can you ask for? They also have outdoor dining, which I don't care about, but you may. -

I have to preface this review by saying that I'm not Greek (either by ancestry or nationality), I've never been to Greece, and I do not in any way, shape, or form consider myself someone who knows authentic Greek food.
I do, however, know delicious food, and it can be found here. The spinach pie we split as an appetizer (even if it did arrive with our main course) is the best I've ever had - flaky and buttery with a crispy top giving way to delicious spinach. The Greek salad arrived covered in a vast amount of flavorful grilled chicken. All of the vegetables were fresh and crispy. My dining companion's sandwich (I believe it was called some variation of "Florentine" due to its being packed with spinach) was similarly delicious. Also, what is it with Greek places having awesome fries? France had better watch out - I think Greece is out to steal the title.
We were less impressed by our waiter, whom we literally did not see throughout the entire meal except for when he brought us the menus and check. This isn't the kind of place you'd want to go if you were in a hurry - it's nearly impossible to flag anybody down. We might still be there if we hadn't gotten up and physically gone inside to fetch our receipt. The runner who actually took our order and brought us our food was great, though. I wanted to tip him extra. -

The pizza here is fantastic, as are all of the dishes which I have tried so far. Only been a few times, but the staff seems very nice, and I met a few "regulars" too who were friendly upper west side people.
Being from this neighborhood, which is possibly the most-competitive one in the city in terms of eating for price and quality, I was very impressed. Definitely eating here again soon. -

Service was slow as was otherwise reported.
The food was mostly boring nothing special, and it is part of the Perfecto Ristorante.
The real reason for the 1 star is how they mis-handled the credit card transaction.
When they ran my card they did NOT provide a copy of the slip, until we demanded it.
The slip that they did bring had the credit card number COMPLETE IN THE CLEAR on it, not asterisked out like everywhere else!
When we complained to the manager he actually had the audacity to tell me that they had to do it that way. He then executed a reprint from the credit card machine.
Then the amount that they actually charged was WRONG - they over charged my card - the charge was $42.11 and they ran it through as $44.11 - it may not be much but theft is no way to run a business.
Won't be back and certainly won't go to the Perfecto Ristorante. -

I stumbled on this place by chance, and it is absolutely fantastic. The Greek food was the best I've had in NYC, and the staff was great. Can't wait to go back!

4 stars entirely for the grilled octopus appetizer which was perfectly done! Not too tough, not too chewy, not like rubber, or over seasoned. Perfectly cooked and yummy.

Nice place, friendly staff, slow service, okay food. To be clear - the kitchen *is* the Perfecto Pizza place next door -- the waiters walk through to it and back with the food. The food tasted more of salt + oil + lemon than the flavors of the ingredients themselves, so I can't say the food was really good if you like to taste a balance of flavors. It was tasty enough, enjoyable -- I had the mussels special, the greek salad, the spinach pie (very nicely browned), and tried the saganaki (great but way too salty). The food took much too long to appear given how the restaurant was mostly empty when we ordered. Not bad value for the money, but if I'm really craving Greek food this feels inauthentic. Better to go downtown and spend a little more money, or out to Queens.

The Upper West Side obviously has a lot more to offer than what Telio is giving up, but seriously they're conveniently located right on the Broadway strip near the gym, fruit stands, Walgreens, etc.. We had grilled octopus, prawn salad, and pizza. All was pretty good outside of the pizza being a bit greasy, but the service was very strong and plus one for being able to dine outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather.

A unique place that has both Greek & Italian Food with a quaint atmosphere and friendly staff. I had a delicious Greek salad and shared a slice of tiramisu that was delicious. Would go back again.

One of the goto Mediterranean restaurants in the neighborhood. Service can be slow... but that's because its kitchen doubles as a pizza joint (a good pizza, btw) and can get slammed when the delivery orders are high. But for dinner, its still a great place to go for grilled calamari (or octopus), spinach pie, gyro platters, and a pretty decent sangria. A good restaurant for alfresco dining and people watching.

We wandered into the restaurant half-accidently, looking for something inexpensive but good. This was just the right spot - the lamb burger amd greek salad were tasty, and the gigante beans we a nice appetizer to go along. There were lots of kids there though, so if you don't like little ones this isnt your place. Next time, I think we'll try the pizza (which the kids all seemed to enjoy).

I had spinach pie and greek salad. The top of the spinach pie was burned and it was tasteless. The salad was okay. I would not recommend this restaurant.

I went today for lunch to try the Chicken Avgolemono soup that a friend from work had recommended to me. It was absolutely delicious! The waiter told me its a family recipe, I was really pleased with it.
