Ted's Jumbo Red Hots Inc
12 reviews for Ted's Jumbo Red Hots Inc
If you like hot dogs, go no further than Ted's! The foot long is unique and the red chili sauce is a must.
There is nothing like watching your dog get charred in front of your eyes. Love to watch the servers bless your dog with condiments using those funny little forks.
The rings are good too!
Ever since the day my honey took me home to Buffalo and I had my first Ted Hots dog, I have never looked back. There is NOWHERE on the west coast that you can find a dog as delicious and grilled to perfection (and trust me, I've tried).
I'm probably breaking all sorts of 'Californian' rules by saying these things, but frankly my dear - I don't give a damn. There is nothing yummier than a Sahlen's dog grilled (a little extra char) with Ted's homemade hot sauce and raw onions. Throw in some perfectly fried french fries and a cup of loganberry - you're in HEAVEN.
Now anytime I make it to Buffalo I make sure to eat at Ted's at least once a day for the duration of my visit. Otherwise I'll regret it for the rest of the year that I'm back in Cali.
No real reason to write a review, this place is the best. I love Dogs from all over, but hands down Teds does it the best. Their O-Rings are freaking classic. I will say this, people love their fries, and I have no idea why, they are very bland, and in general their other food is as well. There's really no reason to get anything besides rings and dogs here anyways.
As a kid, we'd go to Pat's or Scime's once in a blue moon (not sure if we didn't have the money or if people just didn't eat out much back then). These places were about a mile down Sheridan from Ted's. I started eating Ted's after Pat's & Scime's closed shop (not sure why). Per my recollection they were/are all pretty much the same -- i.e. great!
They all used Sahlen's hot dogs which are the highest quality (actually hot dogs and quality are probably an oxymoron).
Not sure of the carcinogens & cancer and all that but the burnt charcoal taste and the generous toppings (including slivers of dill pickle) really become addicting.
Damn tasty wieners. Just thinking about their hot dogs has made me hungry enough that I am having a difficult time coming up with some good quips for the review. Their fries are always perfect, not too crispy and not too limp to dip in ketchup. Same for the onion rings, even though I don't usually like onion rings. I'd never had a dog with sweet relish and/or a pickle until I went here and I love it! I also really like that all of their locations are equally terrific, where as other chains (I'm looking at you, Mighty Taco) vary a lot. Sahlen's is pretty good, and I'm a "downstater" used to Nathan's and Hebrew National. Nathan's is a sore loser in this competition. I think Ted's would get some great business if they did some hot-dog eating competitions. I'd like to see Kobayashi chokin' down some of these dogs, and dipping the buns in loganberry for good measure.
It's not Portillo's, but this isn't Chicago.
I absolutely love the chargrilled food here. The military discount is great for service members in uniform. Great service, and add a star when the hot dogs are cooked a little extra crispy!
This is where I was born!
No really, see that map on the right?
Brockett Drive is just off to the lower left corner across from Twyla Place. Hi Mom!
Ask them to cook a foot long an extra minute or so so it's really crisp. Chili sauce, Weber's mustard, and pickle slice for me. Fries and a loganberry. That's how I roll.
Now it's time to pretend you just came straight home from the airport!
There is no greater Hot Dog on earth.
Ask anyone from Buffalo, it's a must visit every time I go home. My aunt stops there first regardless of what time her plane arrives (even 10am!). We have pictures of my nephews first bites at Ted's, and even brought the dogs to my sister's wedding. I love Ted's!
Get a footlong, onion rings, and no Ted's meal would be complete without Aunt Rosie's loganberry.
It's a Buffalo thing.
Buffalo's icon of hot dogs stands.
It is a dam shame that the restaurant no longer is located within the confines of our our city. It was a huge loss of the West Side the day that Ted's closed on Porter Avenue.
Best Hot Dogs! Foot long my favorite with cheese sauce on it. the locals like there dogs Chard.
Though I did not grow up in NY, my family originates there and through the years I've always heard about Ted's Hotdogs. Everyone says "Oh going to Tonawanda?? Gotta have a Teds red hot! So of course when I recently went back for my Grandfathers memorial service, we had to stop. I was immediately excited by the long line and smoke filled interior. The stories must be true! As we wound are way through the line I felt the drool forming on the corner of my mouth. Suddenly we were placing our order and I fired off my request. The acne riddled kid behind the counter happily went about collecting my onion rings, milkshake and condiments and I was on my way. We chose a nice seat outside and prepared to dig in. First the onion rings, delicate and savory. Then the milkshake, a little runny, but tasty. Finally the dog... wait...what? That's it? The only flavor I was able to discern was that of the bbq. The dog was... meh...average. So what is it that everyone raves about? I've had dogs ten times better. In fact we ate Sahlens dogs, home grilled by a friend later that weekend and I enjoyed those more. It must be the atmosphere and the history. I honestly felt a little closer to my Grandpa sitting there enjoying a hot dog in his hometown. But best ever?? please.
Best g-d hot dogs on the face of the earth, and I've eaten enough dogs to cut a few years off my life. Their onion rings are primo, and to wash it down, get a glass of loganberry, which is the local bug juice. Going to Buffalo next week, and that'll be a stop I have to make.
