2 reviews for Teddy's Little Closet
I work here, so until I leave I won't say anything too terrible, but after comparing to other kids stores in the area, I think we have a great selection and service.
Here's the lowdown:
- Our sizes range from newborn to about 4T, with a few PJs, dressups, and raincoats up to size 6X.
-Mostly Grandma-friendly items, so we don't have everything, and some of it's expensive. However, there are GREAT end-of-season sales and pretty reasonable prices to begin with.
-We provide gift boxes for clothing purchases of $20 or more (if it's less than $20, you can buy a box for $1.50), which include tasteful tissue and curled ribbon. Basically, we'll do what we can to get your gift in a box, but if it doesn't fit you'll either need to buy some paper yourself at Papyrus or the Elmwood Stationers, or walk to Sweet Dreams Toys and have them wrap it.
-Returns are for non-sale items only and for exchange or store credit only, but you can use the credit at any of our stores: Sweet Dreams Candy/Boutique, Sweet Dreams Toys (in Berkeley or Orinda), and the credits don't expire. If you want to use the credit at another store, however, DON'T LOSE THE CREDIT SLIP! If you lose it, presenting your ID at the other store won't do them any good because the binder containing your credit information is kept in the store where you bought the stuff.
-Kids are totally welcome, but there's a little ledge/step thing that we can't legally get rid of that makes getting in with strollers or wheelchairs difficult but not impossible, and for the clumsy and oblivious nearly impossible.
-Usually, there is only one of us working, so we cannot babysit kids while you shop: this is why there is a sign in the toy room asking you to supervise your kids so I'm not responsible when your kid bonks his head on the table from bouncing on the horsie.
-We are trained and more than happy to show you items that might match the event/person you're shopping for. A basic scenario we encounter frequently is, "I'm a [insert relationship to child] shopping for a [insert age] who has everything, and I only have [insert budget]." The store is pretty small, so you can certainly browse around yourself, but there's so much packed in, it can be difficult to find the bibs or shoes if you haven't been in for a while.
Why only 4 stars?
I minus a star because 1- heat/AC don't work and 2- we don't have everything. Like I said earlier, we tend to specialize in gift items, so we have a lot of really cute clothes and outfits, but fewer things like solid white onesies and no strollers.
We've been working on providing some of the more practical items that have developed some style in the industry-- we recently started carrying the Ergo Baby Carriers and Moby Wraps, and some of Kecci's MommyBags (and a DaddyBag), but we usually refer customers to Cotton and Company or Rockridge Kids either for bigger kids or things like white tube socks, which we also don't carry.
Most definitely worth a look, though!
Nice neighborhood shop. They carry quality clothes and toys at prices comparable to everyone else who carries this stuff. Not really the kind of place you go out of your way for, but great if you are in the neighborhood.
