If you want authentic Greek food this is the place for you.
Service is excellent and on point.
Hearty portions, great prices and outdoor seating you can't beat that.
My favorite dishes are the combination soulvaki with LEMON POTATOES the best. Greek Salad fresh and crisp.
A must go to.
i went a little crazy last week and ordered the fried chicken AND IT IS SO AWESOME.
please go to teddy's. make them stay open.

The arrival of Teddy's lead to me being a bit excited.
I was looking forward to a new restaurant in the neighborhood. Too bad this didn't do much to add to area. I've eaten at Teddy's 3 times and 3 times I've rolled my eyes with annoyance with myself for going by. I was warned that it was "Eh..." But I wanted to believe otherwise. It was "Eh..."
I won't lie and tell you that I remember the exact thing I ate because i don't. The overwhelming memory I have of Teddy's is mediocrity. It's just not that good. I have never ordered or heard of someone ordering and them just yelling "MY GOD THAT WAS ROCKIN!" Maybe my friends have warped taste buds and this place is truly amazing but I believe otherwise.
The neighborhood has way better to offer than this place. You can go in almost EVERY DIRECTION from Teddy's and run into better. Don't waste your time.
Went here for brunch. Good diner-style and Greek food, VERY reasonable prices. No complaints. The best part was the nice little garden/patio out back. It was a beautiful day, and sitting outside really made the meal for me.
I would agree w/ the diner quality food, but not prices comment, if you go for anything other than breakfast or brunch. When my boyfriend lived in the neighborhood, it was literally one of the only good places to eat. But more often than not, we were disappointed by any meal other than brunch, which always left us satisfied and happy. What's not to like about a giant omelet, home fries, fruit salad, toast and juice for like $7.
Since we moved, we've fondly recall those Teddy's brunches.
Ok WOW.
The best hidden gem ever.
Came here the "morning after" a raging drunk night at Franklin Park. My friend and I were craving a hearty breakfast feast to cure our hearty hangovers.
We were pleasantly surprised by Teddy's!
The fact that it has an outdoor garden patio makes me so gleeful:) And although my raging headache and my queasy stomach could barely enjoy the cozy outdoor ambiance, I was completely in love (especially after I christened Teddy's toilet with a yummy upchuck lol).
Once all that yuckiness was out of my system, all the omelet and potato yumminess was able to enter my system quite easily. The rest of breakfast was a BREEZE. When my friend and I got the check we were even more excited.
I ordered an omelet with avocado on the side which came with toast, a tasty fruit cup (not just the cheap shit like honeydew and cantaloupe) AND potatoes and it was only 8 bucks! Are you kidding me?!
I can't wait to spend another morning/afternoon at Teddy's to cure my next hangover. YAY Teddy's!
Teddy's definitely deserves more credit! You would never think that there would be such an amazing restaurant hidden right by the Brooklyn Museum. I was a bit intimidated by the ordering from the restaurant at first because I didn't know what to expect. But once I looked at the menu and realize that it was a Greek restaurant I wanted to try everything. I've had mostly their chicken and pork kebab dishes. Their Greek salads are huge. Their portions are much too big for one sitting. I love ordering their lemon potatoes as a great side. My friend even tried their strawberry milkshake and it really hits the spot .
During the winter months, they stay open till 11pm and every time I go there, there are hardly any people dining in. The owners Teddy (and I believe the Chinese lady behind the counter) are usually overwhelmed with taking continuous delivery orders. I've dined in twice before and its really nice to sit there with all the Greek decor in the restaurant. I noticed they have a cute backyard and a BYOB sign...which I'll have to take advantage of soon. I highly recommend this place.
I think Teddy's is, hands down, one of the best, if not the best places to eat in this very limited neighborhood. The people are very friendly, the food is reliable and the service is wonderful. And if you can swing it with the weather, sit outside...very sweet indeed!
Teddy's Restaurant is one of my very favorite neighborhood spots! Casual and friendly, you're guaranteed great service and food. Close proximity to the Brooklyn Museum and the Botanic Garden make it an ideal spot for lunch or dinner after a day of activities. Since I work at the Museum, it's always nice to go to Teddy's for lunch.
Teddy's offers mostly Greek fare. I speak highly of the Gyro Sandwich and the Lemon Potatoes (YUM), as well as the Taramosalata spread (ask for extra pita -- you will need it). The Spinach Pie and the Pasticcio were also excellent.
In addition to Greek food, there are also wraps and burgers and other selections. I sometimes get the "small" Greek salad as a meal -- it is HUGE and yummy!
In short, I have never been disappointed coming to Teddy's. Service is fast, food is delicious, and it is a pleasant change from the nearby Japanese, Caribbean, and Chinese restaurants in the area. Teddy himself is always there to say hello to you!
It was ok.
I went because its just around the corner from my place. I didn't check yelp first and had a salad and a gyro. Both were pretty average. Really strange dressing on the salad. Really soggy gyro. Place was dead on a Monday night. Staff was friendly though.
Seems like it might be worth another visit.
There's a new restaurant in town! Prospect Heights has finally acquired a classy diner-type restaurant that, unlike Tom's, stays open until 11 and is open on Sundays. Like Tom's (I use the comparison because if you live in Prospect Heights you've definitely been), it has really friendly staff, a home-like atmosphere and excellent food!
The menu is predominantly Greek food with other options such as wraps and burgers. I loove spinach pie and am delighted to say that theirs is excellent. I've made it a habit to order the side order because it's about $4 cheaper than the platter and it's way more than I can eat. My boyfriend (who is lame and probably won't write his own review : P) has tried the burger and the chicken Caesar wrap and loved them both. I had a small nibble of the wrap and the dressing is delicious.
The first time Ryan C. and I went, we opted to sit outside because there was a nice breeze. We were treated to the dulcet sounds of a nearby basketball game ("You're goin' down, mothafu**ah!"), but it was more entertaining than irritating. We were both in punchy moods and every time the waitress came back to check on us, we were doing something strange. One time, Ryan was mid "I love yoOoOoOuu" and the next we were trying to do the drunk driving test involving straightening your arms and touching your nose (no one else was seated outside). Rather than running away and not returning, she laughed after commenting on our weirdness and stayed to chat for a minute.... nice, but costly for us as we try to tip waitpeople that we develop an affinity for extra well.
If you haven't tried Teddy's yet, what are you waiting for? Awesome food, great prices and their waitresses are really sweet and attentive.
I still like this place, but four stars was pushing it.
I'm a vegetarian and they have lots of good options, but one strange/annoying thing about the menu is that a lot of the veggie stuff is priced a good $2 or so higher than the meat-based meals. But, the portions are huge. I advise checking out the sides menu - it looks pricey, but that's because their sides are really entrees. And delicious.
The falafel, unfortunately, was pretty disgusting. The patio is still awesome though.
As a sit down, eat in restaurant, Teddy's is great. Free pita, friendly service, decent atmosphere, and tasty Greek food.
Delivery on the other hand, is a total crap shoot. The last two times I ordered delivery from here it's been pretty piss poor. The first time, the delivery guy kept going to the wrong address, until finally the woman at that apartment called me from the delivery guy's cell phone to find out where I live.
The last time (ever) I was told that the delivery guy didnt have his bike therefore they wouldn't deliver food to me. I was pretty peeved, but such is life... in Brooklyn.
I've had some of the best hang-over brunches here...

If you order salad ask for the dressing on the side. Way too much vinegar. The salad itself is pretty good. The freshness of the greens and feta cheese is aces. Their spinach pie is delicious as well. They need to work on the moussaka a tad. It's very good but a little too rich.

The best Hummus ever, EVER! Baklava the size of my fist. So good, so yummy!
It's sad to read reviews by people who have gone to a place only once... I guess I'm guilty of that as well though. I've been to Teddy's maybe twenty times, and I'm always so surprised how good it is if you know what to order. The servers have always been really friendly and the owner walks around and says hi to the regulars. Big yess to fried calamari, greek salad with dressing on the side, green salad, grapeleaves, grilled chicken plate, lemon chicken soup, lemon potatoes... a pass on the fried chicken (strangely sweet). The garden in back is super in the summer. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could.
in honor of greeks this week i wanted to take a minute to give a shout-out for teddy's. i work near this restaurant and probably one of the BEST things is that they are open on MONDAYS, almost no one else around her eis - really, i've made the mistake more than once.
their service is friendly - teddy especially - and in fact he gave my friend and i a tour before they even opened when we happened by last summer. if you go often enough you start to feel like family - one time another friend forgot her umbrella in the rain and teddy loaned us one!
in general food-wise things are good, dishes you enjoy eating and fill you up in a good way in terms of sandwiches/wraps/hot plates. there are a few stars for me though - the taramosalata (a salty greek spread for pita) is worth the trip itself, the salads - although a little overpriced - are delicious w. fresh feta cheese, as well as the pasticchio (a baked pasta dish, sort of like a greek lasagna). overall some very good eating, especially if you like greek specialties.
finally, the decor is lovely - indoor and outdoor, a full courtyard, when the weather is nice, something unusual around here too.
i can't wait to go for their first anniversary this summer as they are definitely a good addition to the neighborhood.
a recent dire craving for a burger brought me here for a second visit. ordered over the phone for a pickup, and it was ready in 10 min. perfect! the 8oz burger totally hit the spot. cooked exactly to order, no hassle when picking up, and cheese melted on both sides of the patty, which rested on a sesame bun. one of those super juicy burgers that leaves the bun a little messy by the end, but all that matters is that you don't let a single drop of that savory juice escape.....the pickle is perfect. this is your straight up burger, nothing gourmet or over the top, but sure to satisfy any burger craving. order the deluxe if you want steak fries, lettuce and tomato.
i dined in on my first visit, it was a pleasant place to sit and chat over a meal. we were a bit confused because key ingredients would be missing such as no broccoli in a wrap that listed it as a first ingredient. when the waitress was asked, she checked back w/ the kitchen before returning and stating, "yeah, we're out of it." granted, the place was still fairly new, but it was still a little strange.
other than that, the menu is surprisingly extensive, ranging from Greek to American diner fare. awesome selection of side orders. the wraps were a bit flavorless and unexciting, but the ingredients were fresh. perhaps that broccoli just hadn't sprouted in their garden yet.
as i celebrate my 1 year anniversary in my lovely apartment in prospect heights, i sit and reflect on the places that have fed me when i've been too tired to cook. teddys sits atop that list, and sits atop the list of all who visit me and dine on teddy's takeout. service here is extremely quick, the guys who work at teddys are never less than pleasant, and the food is tasty, amply portioned, and satisfying. the gyro sandwiches, though messy, yield a minimum of 2 meals, and the sides, especially the spanikopita, is massive. the lemon potatoes are a must have, the greek salads are family sized despite being on the "sides" menu, and the feta cheese is some of the best i've tasted.
teddy's delivers, and is byob if you dine in. i can't get enough of this place; i would be oh so sad if it wasn't around to be my failsafe.
I was in dire need of falafel the first time I ordered from Teddy's. The next thing I know, the buzzer rings and a piping hot falafel with fries was at my doorstep. Because of my extremely close proximity to the eatery, I cannot say that the quick delivery time is an accurate testament to what should be expected from all customers, but I will say that this place makes a mean falafel and fries. And if that's not enough, try their BIG JUICY, JUICY, JUICY burger with these delightful crispy fry wedges. I actually dragged my lazy tuchus out of the house to pick up. It was perfect. I'm going to have to say it's the most wonderful burger in the area. I actually want to make love to these burgers and have burger-people hybrids. Enough said.
Teddy's makes me want to visit South America. All the photos hung on the wall in the back room are of people frolicking in the surf, or hanging out in the sun, with all the bright colours you could ever hope to see. Couple the pictures with the regularly used fireplace, and you have an amazing backdrop for a meal. The food could have sucked and I probably STILL would have given this place four stars! The food didn't suck though... it was great! The portions were a little too large, but I think our eyes were a little bigger than our bellies that day anyway. The nachos were piled up from the table practically to eye level and the fries were almost as high. I probably could have taken a bath in the salad bowl! The food was delicious though and we certainly would have taken the leftovers home if we weren't on the way to a concert. I hear they have the best burgers around so I will definitely be back to check them out!
