Santa Clarita, CA
best burgers in hawaii! we had no idea this was a mini chain, but they have less then 10 locations in hawaii, japan, and idk where else.
so good, we came here twice in 3 days!!
the ambiance is great, a simple 50's style diner, employees are nice, helpful, but seating is limited.
does take about 10 minutes for the food b/c its made to order
( all burgers come witht lettuce, tomato, and special sauce)
( spuds also on some, spuds are like the mcdonalds hash browns, except cripsy, thicker, and better!!!)
so here is the food we ordered between the 2 trips:
the hangover burger (one day special) 5 0z. patty, pastrami, cheddar cheese, bacon, spud
and their terri sauce
university burger: 5 oz, cheddar, bacon, terri, spud, add avocado
waikiki burger: 5 oz, cheddar, bacon, spud, terri, add fried egg, grilled onions
aeia burger: substiute meat for 5 oz turkey burger, swiss cheese, bacon, onions, mushroom
EVERY burger is, ( even tho we got 5 oz each time) is thick, juicy, flavorfull, very filling, cooked perfect to medium, and absolutely delicioso!!!
every combination in the burgers is amazingly perfect, the buns are delicious, toppings are amazing, and every thing you get will make you lick your fingers and run the juices down your hands, and pick up the dropping from the plates
ive been to a many burger plaes, and this is in the top 3 best burgers i have ever had, along with the rest who agree
they say it is a top spot in hawaii in all the magazines, and theres no lie in that!! -
Review from Lempi M.
The burgers here are perfect. Charbroiled on the outside, juicy in the middle. The fires are perfect too- thick cut and crispy. The place is clean and the speed of delivering the food is tolerable. I like the lanai for hanging out eating with friends. My little ladies were a fan of the thick shakes. My i year old would gesture at the place everytime we walked by and shout, " Ice Cream!!!!!!"
Everything's made to order. I find this irritating. I would have preferred a more comprehensive menu with some pre-arranged specials so you're not having to say buger. Add bacon AND cheese AND grilled onions AND Avocado AND blah blah blah
minus one star for the processed fake cheese on the cheese fries. Ew. -

Being one yelp dollar sign and right around the corner from our hostel would have been enough for me and my boyfriend to be smitten with this eatery, but oh! These burgers are tasty enough for you to want to drive 5 miles for them.
We ended up splitting a biggest burger off the specialty burgers menu, so it wasn't as cheap as anticipated even being split, but we were itching to try something more exotic than the regular burger. They were also kind enough at Teddy's to cut our massive to go burger in half for easier sharing (and smart enough to anticipate that desire without being asked). In addition to the juicy monster burger we got a side of the most crispy and delicious onion rings. Mmmm!
On a less food-related note, I quite enjoyed their wall mural of Waikiki highlighting landmarks in funny ways and labeling the surf spots. -

Sorry, I don't get what all the hype is about. It's just an overpriced greasy fast food joint. The burgers are bland and tasteless. The special sauce tasted like salad dressing. Nothing unique or special.
The restaurant isn't particularly clean either. Tables and chairs were dirty, food crumbs all over the floor.
So disappointed given all the great reviews. I wanted to try this place because it's something I can't get back home, but after eating here once I'd rather go to McDonald's than come here again. -

We were in Waikiki for a couple days and this is one of the spots that I wanted to check out. And i'm glad we did! We went mid-afternoon so it wasnt very crowded and went right up to the order guy. The menu is a little confusing but i already knew what i wanted before going, the western bacon burger! It was large, juicy and full o flavor! The fries were also pretty good. The staff was also really friendly even tho they don't appear to be at first glance!
Will be back again in June! -

I don't know if it was my charm, shiny bald head, or probably the fact that I was the last customer of the night, (I came in at exactly 8.58pm and they close at 9) but the cashier hooked me up with an extra cheeseburger, cheese fries, and bacon tater tots after only ordering a #2 (teriyaki burger combo). A $25 value for only $10!
Free food always tastes better but these burgers, for a chain, were surprisingly good! The griddle cooked beef patties were hot, thick, juicy and medium rare. I liked that even though I was the last customer, the toasted bun and veggies were still really fresh. Wayyy better than your average diner style burgers.
While the cheese fries were just ok, the bacon tater tots were awesome! Since I did takeout to bring back to my hotel, I like how they wrapped the sides in foil to keep it hot.(http://www.yelp.com/bi...)
Pretty good for a chain that's based mostly based out of Hawaii. They also have locations in WA and Japan, but wouldn't mind if they opened one in CA. Solid 3.5 and rounding up for the Hawaiian homie hookup. ((http://www.yelp.com/bi...)Listed in: The Eff your Burger List!, Adventures in Oahu

A really good burger that you can customize to your personal taste. The best onion rings I have ever had and I have had a few onion rings in my life - give them a try.

Review from Jason G.
Best burger in Honolulu and by far some of the best onion rings I've had anywhere. I really like customizing the burger, if you so choose.

I'm not the hugest burger fan, but Teddy's tends to make me think otherwise.
If and when I crave a burger, Teddy's is usually my first pick.
The burgers at Teddy's aren't necessarily the cheapest, but the portions are generous. And for good eats, the price is worth it. Teddy's burgers are always juicy, tender, and flavorful. Plus, I love their assortment of toppings available. (Yay, jalapeños!)
The bf and I always shoot for a combo.
A 7oz. patty with mushrooms, pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, bacon, and whatever else we're craving at the moment...
(And cheese fries are always a must.)
Build your own burger! Do it! It can get a bit pricey, but it is absolutely worth it.

Review from Patra B.
We got back to our hotel late, and we needed to find something to eat. It was already after 9pm, and we needed something quick and nearby. Yelp led us to Teddy's around the corner from our hotel.
I ordered a burger with bacon and mushrooms and onion rings to go. We got back to our hotel room, and I ate it....ALL of it. The burger was nice and juicy and had lots of flavor. The burgers are pretty big, too. The onion rings were crispy, and they give you a lot.
They have a vast menu to choose from, and you can also build your own burger if you'd like. They use freshly made hamburger patties and not those pre-formed, frozen ones. They have the usual toppings like lettuce, cheese, and tomato. And then they have a big list of other yummy toppings like onion rings, grilled pineapple, cajun style, western style and pastrami. If you're not in a burger type of mood, they also have salads and fish and chips.Listed in: Hawaii Adventures

I saw numerous Teddy's bigger burgers all around Honolulu. Our friend who is living in Waikiki, told us how much he liked the burgers there so we all paid the "like In-n-out" burger joint a visit.
Well, the burger with secret sauce is a bit more gourmet than in-n-out. Also a heftier price tag however I do like how there are so many add ins.
the FRIESSSS its ALL ABOUT THE FRIES! Get the cheesy fries..and if you dare the spicy cheesy fries are AMAZE! Jalapenos are so good with processed cheese -

So good. I love this place. The burgers are huge and delicious. Best burgers ever, great service, and they're always playing funk. Even the fries are good and crispy.
Make sure to get extra special sauce. The sauce is amazing. -

I didnt mind the location at this Teddy's restaurant. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere of it was nice. I love the diner look to it. The food was delicious especially their terriyaki burger and fries. I asked for my meat rare (usually when i ask for rare i always get a medium rare) but i actually got it to be rare which I loved. I found my new burger hangout :)

This place makes a good burger!
The lines can get a little long but it's worth the wait.
A little on the spendy side but I'd still go back!

These are some good burgers, if your from Cali, this is like there In N Out but bigger actually more like five guy burgers and just as delicious, many toppings, and top it off with yummy Garlic fries!

Just OK... Food took a few minutes, fries weren't great, not very crispy at all and not enough salt. Cajun tater tots were a big disappointment; good crispness, but way too salty and way too much burnt thyme... Not really sure how these are supposed to be Cajun. Burgers were decent, but the buns were cold and mushy, they needed to be toasted.

Over priced burgers with bad service!
After waiting 30 minutes to receive my $14 burger combo I was not impressed. It was just a basic ordinary burger with fries and a soda. Not worth the hype. Go to Burger King or Mac Donalds at least there you know what to expect. And the burger won't cost 14 bucks! -

I don't usually write a review for chain/franchise restaurants but this place got some good stuff so I thought I should.
I got Wikiki burger which is a burger with bacon, cheddar cheese and spud. Very flavorful and fun to eat. What I really liked was Kailua burger which my husband ordered. It comes with teriyaki sauce, mushroom, Swiss and grilled onion. It was so juicy and absolutely yummy!!
Don't forget the garlic fries. They were pretty good too! -

Review from Luanna Y.
Boyfriend and I were craving burgers after a long day at the beach. We jump on Yelp and found this place and head straight over.
Parking can be a pain since it's right by a busy section of beach. We were able to find parking in a residential area about a 10 minute walk away.
Ordered the original (7 oz.) burger with cajun fries and pepper jack cheese as well as the Take it to the Dojo burger (7 oz.) with garlic fries. Both burger patties were flavorful and juicy. The fries were just okay - had much better garlic fries before (the ones here were just dusted in garlic powder) and they were, in my opinion, a bit too mushy. The cajun fries had a decent kick to them, though. The buns on the burgers were awesome - they held together well and had a great texture.
Overall, a very solid burger. A bit pricey though. Our burgers, fries + 2 drink combos came out to close to $30. The 7oz. was more than enough for someone who was starving, though. I'd recommend the smaller size if you're not that hungry... or the biggest size if you're feeling ambitious. -

An all-around delicious burger that satisfied my craving. I would agree that it reminded me more of Five Guys than In-n-Out. The fries were good, but the garlic and parmesan on top could have been better (i.e. made fresh to order and melted on top).

Review from Wendy L.
I always crave a great burger and when my boyfriend told me about this place where people compare it to In-and-out, I was a little skeptical as I was disappointed by my first bite of In-and-out a month before. But I can literally say that Teddy's did not disappoint me!
Their burgers were delicious and juicy! I love that you can order the burger medium rare! And I love that they have grilled pineapples as a topping! I love having pineapples in my burger. And they're Teddy's sauce is delicious! Definitely loved their burger more than In-and-Out's animal style.
As for they're fries, they definitely compliment the burger. I ordered the garlic fries and they were well seasoned and crunchy! I can honestly say even if the burger disappointed me (which it didn't), I would come back to Teddy's for their fries. Yummy!!Listed in: Aloha Hawaii!

hands down the BEST VEGGIE BURGER EVER! I know meat eatteres who come in for the Veggie burger because its that good. Only problem with this place are the workers, they have a high turn over rate, everytime i walk in theres some new punk behind the counter. bad attitude, young, punk brats is who generally fit the discription of who they've aprired to hire in the past. but, dont let that stop you from checking them out. And they dont skimp on there fried, last i checked they have fat, thick steak cut fires.

Ummm.... Why did I give it 3 stars before? Maybe I was a noob and didn't understand that FIVE stars is for awesome.
Here is why I think they rate 5 stars:
The food is awesome! Their seasoned cajun fries are finger licking good, their shakes make me think I'm in a euphoric 50's movie, and the burgers... oh the burgers... I have a teeny tiny stomach. I eat small portions, frequently. But I will down the entire, ginormous Teddy's burger in one sitting.
My favorite is the grilled chicken teriyaki sandwich.
Another plus is that they provide bottles of hot sauce to spice up your meal some more if you prefer.
An additional plus is that they use biodegradable containers.
Now how could this be any less than fabulous?Listed in: My Neighborhood

Waipahu, HI
This Teddy's only gets 3 stars because of the location. I'm always a fan of Teddy's. I love Teddy's burgers. I just don't like this location too much.
So, this review is based on the location moreso than the food. Because the food is always good to me.
My friend and I got our food to go because we wanted to eat it back at her place and watch a movie. The girl at the counter asked me twice if I wanted it "for here" or "to go" ... and I said "TO GO" twice. But she still made the order for here. When I got our food, I told her that I wanted it to go, and she muttered under her breath about how I should have said that in the beginning.
It made matters even worse when we were checking our food/orders I realized that only one order of our fries was there. I busted out my receipt and showed the girl that I paid for two orders, and she said that she misheard me and rang me up wrong. She rang me up correctly ... they just forgot my fries.
So food-wise, I give Teddy's a 4.5/5 ... but after my experience here I decided to give it 3. It makes such a huge difference how service plays into a review.Listed in: Oh, Hamburgers - Butters

This place has the yummiest burger! I had the orginal burger with garlic frys, my boyfriend got the terry burger and we were completly satisfied. They use quality meat and its cooked perfectly.
The atmophesere is very casual, like a fast food joint. I highly recommend this place if you are craving a tasty burger at a very reasonable price. There's metered parking across the street at the honolulu zoo parking lot. Two thumbs up! -

Burgers are a bit pricey but for the quality you get its a good deal. I usually get the original burger with pepper jack cheese. There secret sauce is awesome. Also for side orders I recommend the spicy fries with cheese.

I am a Teddy's Girl through and through!
Been to the Waikiki, Hawaii Kai and Beretania locations more than I would like to admit!
The burgers are to die for. I'm a traditionalist, so I always order the original but simple is always better! A huge slice of lettuce, tomato and American cheese with the occasional bacon topping is perfect! Add to that the delicious Teddy's sauce, DROOOOOOOOOL. The fries are the perfect compliment to the burger. Thick but still crunchy. Whether you get the regular fries or cheese fries, either will satisfy to the fullest.
The shakes are great too! Thick, creamy and delicious.
I have friends from California and I always ask them which is better, In-N-Out or Teddy's and I'm damn proud to say all of them have said Teddy's is better!
Service is always friendly and fast and they give out wet-naps, which is so convenient!
Tell all your friends about Teddy's! They'll thank you for it! -

Oh Teddy how I love thee! Back in the day, you were always my favoite place to go for the best burgers. Since I no longer eat beef, I felt it was best that we stopped seeing each other, and that is why I cut off visitation with you for years.
Recently I stopped in and got the cajun fish sandwich with pepperjack cheese and added grilled pineapple and avocado...oooommmmggggg sooooo so so good! I could have easily ingested 12 of them without coming up for air.
Okay...I exaggerate a bit...really all I could've eaten was 9 of them. You have won me back fo' shiz Teddy! -

Honolulu, HI
Burger -- Thick, rather lean, unseasoned patty with faux grill marks. Or maybe they pre-grilled it and froze the patties so it lost a lot of flavors. No freshly char-broiled taste.
Bread -- Large, light-weight, fluffy Wonder bread, dusted heavily with flour.
Everything else is great; lettuce, tomato, mustard sauce, fixings. The price is right -- a little above McD's Angus, a little under a restaurant-grade grilled-burger joint. -
Review from Phil S.
The best burger I have ever ate in my life. So juicy, flavorful, and moist.
The juices may have melted in my mouth, but not before the meat crumbled with every morcel bursting with intense flavor.
Toppings are endless, but I question how much they added or detracted from the perfection of the made-to-order pattie.
If I get a last request before I die, it'll be for one of these burgers! -
Review from Dee Z.
San Francisco, CA
Yum, yummy, yummiest. LOVE their burgers. You can buy them in 5 oz, 7 oz or 9 oz, depending on how much red meat you want to ingest...I say that in a nice way. Reasonably priced considering it's in the expensive part of town.
If you're craving a burger in Waikiki this has to be the place. You can have any kind of condiments on there - my friend asked for avocado - it seriously was half of a good sized avocado. I had a teriyaki burger with grilled pineapple - but the meat was so good I forgot there was pineapple in it. It's juicy and has a nice burger bite to it. Enjoyed it very, very much. Teddy's knows burgers! -

I ate here several times many years ago and couldn't stand it. Then again, at the time I also hated Bikram yoga, swore I'd never drive a foreign-made car and hated cats.
Cut to 2011 when I've done 100+ Bikram classes, love my Honda and have a roommate named Paulie (who is a cat). I also love Teddy's.
The new location on Beretania is da bomb. Meat is fresh. Fries are legit. Prices are low.
See you in 5 years when I embrace everything I loathe today. -
Review from Kevin S.
Brea, CA
I can't put my finger on what exactly makes the burgers here so good. Maybe, its because they have good buns, and allow you to select a good variety of toppings to put in your burger, which makes it seem different and fresher than the usual burger. The beef patties are so-so.
The fries are pretty standard, but they allow for garlic or cheese on top, which makes it super tasty.
Today I had a 7oz "Waikiki" burger that consisted of spuds (spuds are their ingredient of the month), teri sauce (mayo + teriyaki sauce), lettuce, chedder cheese, tomato, and bacon. That plus fries and a drink came out t to about $14, which really is kinda pricy. It was soooo good though. I should mention that this is the 2nd time I've come here in 4 days now, mostly because the first time got me addicted!
A good lunch place if you're willing to stomach the cost. -

4.75 / 5 ... I'll round up
A lot of my friends, which are dedicated In-N-Out fans, actually believe that Teddy's Bigger Burgers are BETTER than In-N-Out!
I was shocked to hear that only because I usually do not hear anyone say any particular burger is better than In-N-Out.
My opinion is that Teddy's is right behind In-N-Out. They're very very good, but not great.
