TechCU saved my ass last year. And saved my bank account roughly $1500.
I'm on my way home from visiting a friend in San Jose and need gas. I go to the pump, swipe my ATM card and it's declined. It's midnight. I need gas. I go to another station across the street. Try again...no dice. So I pay cash and I'm on my merry way. I get home, crash out and decide to call my bank the next day.
Get to work and call my bank. They say my account has a security hold put on it because of purchases I made. I look at my account online and there's three purchases made in COMPTON, CA.
You heard that right. Compton.
Did I mention I live in the Bay Area?
Not only were there purcahses made in Compton, but they were at Best Buy. For the amount of about $500 each.
Obviously I didn't make these purchases. I go to the TechCU branch in Fremont and tell them I need to file a fraud claim. They were awesome about this. Fill out a form, sign it and they had the money back in my account the same day. Same freaking day. Kickass.
I didn't even have to cross my heart and hope to die.
Out of curiousity, I called the Best Buy store and asked them what "I" had purchased.
Three Playstation 3 consoles.
The least they could have done is bought some Wii's.
Their staff is always friendly and their web resources are great. I can do anything that the big banks can do online; transfer funds, arrange online bill pay, order checks etc.
Minus one star for still requiring an envelope for deposits though.
