If you aren't looking for this place, you will probably walk right by.  The door is sideways and not directly in front of the building.  You'll feel as if you're walking into the radio station for Emerson which is right there, as I did.

Once you are here, you will love it.  You can even sit in the window and people watch and no one would even notice you staring at them! I went here with a friend who lives right near the AMC theater.  We sat at the bar and ordered the fried zucchini and two shandy's which are only $2!!  They are amazing! I love beer with lemon, like Hefe, so I really liked it.  They even gave us a free starter with hummus and bread.  I was full on these small dishes.  It's a great place to go to while waiting for a movie or just a quick snack before a meal.  I would like to return for the huge burgers which my friend claims are amazing!!

Teatroooooo!!!  How I wanted to give you 4 to 5 stars but you lost me at the crab cavatelli and service.

I heard so many good things and was so excited but got a bad server, was rushed and the food was just average.

What saved you from a 2 is the ambiance and the short rib arancini.  The blue lighting that sets the mood and the intimate 2 top tables are great for a date night.  Portion sizes are just right but sides were bland for the rib eye, the cavatelli and crab was watery and bland.

Our hostess was great and the drinks looked spectacular and fun but our server seemed confused most of the time and was rushing us to turn our table.  Literally we sat down and opened our menu and the server asked if we would like to start anything without an introduction.

I would love to go here again since from previous reviews this can be updated to a four or a five.  Maybe just one of those days for teatro.

It's a shame. No, it's actually a damn shame.

The food here is pretty good. I'd give it a 3.5 to 4. The service is very good. I'd give it a 4. Nonetheless, I doubt I'll be back. What a horrid pit of abysmal noise. Headbusting torture to the Nth degree.

Seriously folks, this place should be shut down by OSHA. If Teatro were a motorcycle, it would be cited by the police for noise ordinance violations. If Teatro were in Winthrop, they'd stop complaining about the airport.

My Short Ribs Arancini with truffled somethingorother was very good. Just no sign of short ribs... anywhere. Maybe they were ground up and blended in the little rice balls. I don't know. What ev. I had just as good, with a lot more meat at the St. Anthony's Feast for a lot less money. My companion had a pumpkin soup with a maple creme on top which was quite good, although a bit salty for fresh soup.

I had orecchiette (pasta) with spicy sausage and broccoli rabe that was delightful. A very simple dish served piping hot that revealed the subtleties of its flavor slowly. My companion had pasta with carbonara sauce, but asked that they hold the pancetta. She said this was very good as well. While the Tiramisu was good, the Semifreddo that I had was unbelievably good. Hard-to-share good. Yes. That good.

But the noise. Good God, the noise. I guess it doesn't help that the vaulted ceiling creates an almost parabolic reflection of every sound below, and to their credit, the proprietors have installed sound deadening cloth panels on the walls. (Although this too is odd. What they have are taupe rectangles of cloth adorning every wall. I never thought I'd pine for Marimekko, but please?)

The real problem is how densely Teatro packs in their customers. I could not fit my fist between the table to my left and the table to my right. And the table wasn't very big. Sure, I don't know the economics of running a restaurant, but I do know the aesthetics of comfort. This place could do with about 1/3 less people in it.

My, oh my - this place is stunning.   Even before you order anything or put a morsel of food in your mouth or take a sip of a drink, it's hard not to feel like you are taking part in something special just by being there.

The white bean puree and the honey lemon asparagus are two of many appetizers that are - very simply - delicious.  For entrees, you really cannot go wrong with the spinach and mascarpone ravioli, or the linguini with crab meat.   And if you were able to save room, there are plenty of desserts that will leave you happy and satisfied and wanting to come back the next evening.

I've been here three times, as I've heard great reviews from a wide variety of people and always assume that I order the wrong thing. Actually that's a lie; most of the people I've heard this from are rich and snobby and talk about how they are bff with the owners of Teatro, who apparently are very charming. But I still wanted to give it a fair chance.

I've gotten their Chicken Milanese, Orecchiette with Spicy Sausage and their Rigatoni with Classic Ragù Bolognese. I've also stolen bites of dishes from those I've eaten with.

The best part of the food here is the bread with oil and humus you get before the meal. Otherwise everything is mediocre. If the dishes were less expensive (and yes, if you go out of your way you can get a cheap meal here, but for anything even vaguely substantial the price will be high) and the feel less.. high class, I guess this would be fine.

When I eat here I feel like I am paying for the decor (which is beautiful), the service (which is great) and the location (which is amazing). But if you're looking for great food, don't settle for this.

Such a chic, sexy, unassuming lil restaurant in what used to be known as the "combat zone", I wiki'd it for ya, http://en.wikipedia.or...

We actually got their Wednesday night special of spaghetti and meatballs for $9.95, it was delicious.  The meatballs are like mama used to make, if my mama used to make meatballs.  I'd like to think if she ever learned how to make meataballs, she'd make a good a meataballs.

The service was wonderful, the red wine, spectacular.  And, the dessert of mocha chocolate salted semifreddo was outstanding.

I can't believe Teatro has been here for about five years and this is the first time I've set foot in it.  I don't have many regrets in life, but I regret not walking into Teatro for dinner years ago.

I will be back.  A lot!

Service was excellent, professional and unobtrusive.  The antipasto was a little hit and miss.  Some parts were great (roasted peppers, prosciutto, white bean puree) and others not so much (artichoke, octopus).  I ordered the ricotta gnocchi with braised wild boar, which was one of the specials...it was delicious with a great balance of flavor.  My girlfriend, however, ordered the rigatoni bolognese, which would have been great if it weren't so peppery.  The amount of pepper really overwhelmed the dish, which was disappointing.  The panna cotta for dessert was average.  I would've given Teatro four stars if it weren't for the bolognese.

I have never had dinner here but I love this place for before or after a movie. For the same price as popcorn and a drink you can get a couple Shandy's (1/2 lemonade 1/2 beer) and a couple of small plates at the bar. I love the Garlicky White Bean Puree and the Marinated Olives. Also, I don't eat a ton of fried food but the Truffle Fries with Parmigiano are totally worth it. So when this turns out to be your new favorite pre-show spot just make sure to save a seat for me!

Location: Perfect when you're seeing a show after dinner.

Service: Ridiculously great actually. Our waiter was johnny on the spot with the wine, the food, and seemingly always walking past when I needed to grab him for something.

Also, I'd like to point out that after dinner we were a bit full, and we had some time before the show started. So I asked the waiter to hold off for a few minutes before bringing over the dessert while we relax and polish off our bottle of wine. He said that would be fine, and then he actually waited till we asked for it, with no attitude or anything. It was amazing! A restaurant in the US where the waitstaff isn't trying to usher you out of your seat is a pretty rare find.

Anyway, down to the food. Our appetizer was by far the best part of the meal. We had a shrimp scampy style bruschetta that would knock the socks off anyone. My only complaint was that it was $8-9 for one piece...which was kind of lame (also the waiter told us there would be two, making it easy to share -- oops).

After the appetizer, the meals were pretty ok. I had a pork chop which was a bit over cooked. The sauce and onion/mushrooms were fantastic though.

My girlfriend had the veal meatball pasta which I thought was brilliant. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce was delicious, and the meatballs were moist and flavorful.

Well done teatro, hopefully next time my pork chop won't be overcooked!

We enjoyed dinner at Teatro on Friday night, and our meal was quite good.  The vaulted blue ceiling is very nice, and I'm not sure if we missed the rush in between movies or our timing was just good, but the reservation I had made seemed unnecessary.

We had the eggplant appetizer, which was quite good, very complex flavor.  The wine list was extensive, and we got a nice bottle for a reasonable price.  The spinach ravioli was also very good, as was the rigatoni.  The atmosphere was appealing, and the service good, we lingered a bit over our bottle of wine and enjoyed it.

Very convenient to the movies and other spots in the theatre district!

Thin Crust pizza, bolognese & carbonara pasta dishes and most of their entrees , martinis & wine selection are the stuff that I really like about this place.

Their sister restaurants, Mistral & Sorrelina, are pretty good as well. (Though I prefer Sorrelina)

I had a date at Teatro rather recently as it is directly next to the Lowes movie theater across from Boston Common.  This makes it a rather perfect spot for the dinner-and-a-movie thing.

Teatro is a bit small, reminiscent of any neighborhood joint in NYC where there is a banquette that runs the length of the wall and small tables that you really must pull out to maneuver around.  Not a huge deal but can be a pain in the ass when the place is packed.  The first thing you notice is the beautiful lighted baroque design on the ceiling.  It's really mesmerizing.  They keep the dinner music a bit loud; that combined with the noise level of the dinner guests because of the size of the place made it a tad hard to hear.  For that reason I probably wouldn't recommend it for a first date, or you'll be shouting at each other in your dating interview.

I started with a cocktail containing Ciroc vodka and frozen grapes.  It was delicious, but deceptively strong.  I was half in the bag by the time our appetizers came.  This place bills itself as modern Italian, and I can agree with that: the menu was inventive but somewhat traditional and the variety was nice (so nice that it took us forever to decide what to eat).  The bread and garlicky bean puree served at the table were delicious.  We started with the fried zucchini and beef carpaccio.  The carpaccio was dressed with arugula and parmesan and was delicious.  The zucchini was a bit hard to eat because it broke very easily.  I can think of many things that would cause that problem, but all I can say is that I never experience it when I make fried zucchini.  However, it wasn't heavy  at all and the marinara it was served with was very good.

For dinner, I ordered the ricotta gnocchi with duck confit and spring peas and my date ordered the rigatoni bolognese.  The gnocchi was boiled, which is not my preferred preparation (I like mine seared) but was perfectly cooked for what it was.  The same can be said for every element that composed the dish, but it was just okay.  Not great.  It was missing something huge and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what that something was.  Gnocchi can be very heavy, but this was very light and thus great for the summer.  The bolognese was delicious and I kept stealing bites of it in envy.  It was leagues better than my gnocchi.

The portion sizes were good and the pasta serving wasn't completely insane like it is at most restaurants in the US these days.  If you were hungry, you could certainly finish an appetizer and an entree.

The service people were very nice but not super attentive.  It never really became a problem, but it was mildly annoying.  I recall it taking a pretty long time for the waiter to take our dinner order because he brought my drink and then left for about 10 minutes.

This place books up really quickly, especially on the weekends, so reservations are a must.  There are a ton of garages in the vicinity if you're driving, and of course the Boylston Street T station is right across the road.

Overall a good experience.  I would definitely go back for another dinner-and-a-movie night.

My co-worker and boyfriend mistakenly pronounced this as "teat-ro" as opposed to "Te-AH-tro." Lolz.

We got the mussels and eggplant appetizer. Eggplant was good, served room temp. The mussels, however, were divine-- it was a sort of bouillabaisse with a spicy sauce. Out of the shell, of course.

Truffle fries are also available here, always a must.

I got the veal meatballs as my main dish-- somewhat similar to the famous Kobe meatballs at Sorellina.

Overall everything was great. The ambiance is pretty cool, but it does get noisy in the evening. Service was a tad oblivious, at least in comparison to the sister restaurants (esp. Sorellina and Moo). It's more of an appetizer/cocktail type of place, making it especially suitable for the theatre crowd.

I've wanted to come here forever but for some reason, I've overlooked it for other places in the area. Finally, after a nice afternoon at the movies, my mom and I came here for an early dinner and drinks.

The space is really beautiful and I love their bar. It's so nice to have a beautiful interior, as well as be able to look outside and people watch, look at the Common, etc. They have a good drink menu... mom got a Red Sangria, I got a Grapefruit martini. Both were good and strong. Average priced.

My mom and I split the arugula salad (light dressing with Parmesan cheese), Grilled Octopus, and the White pizza. The salad was very good... light, nutritious, and fresh. I enjoyed the Grilled Octopus, although there wasn't as much Octopus as I would have liked. The dish included various veggies as well. The White Pizza was good (although they brought us the wrong pizza initially). The crust is so thin, but in a good way. Crunchy and thin as opposed to soggy and thin. Normally when I get white pizza, they put a variety of cheeses on it, including ricotta. I think that really classifies something as a white pizza. This version didn't include. Truffle fries were a  heaping portion of thin fries, subtle flavor of truffle oil, topped with cheese and herbs. They were REALLY good. Much better than Mistral, not quite as good as Sorellina.

Teatro isn't cheap, but it's high quality worth the money. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to be back.

Teatro is a great place to go before or after the theatre. It is really close to the Theatre District, especially the Colonial Theatre. I have gone to Teatro several times and enjoyed my meals and drinks. They have a nice menu with several vegetarian options. They also have a nice drink menu that includes beer and wine, as well as some specialty drinks that are wonderful.

Reservations are strongly suggested, especially if you have tickets to a show. The service is good and the staff are great about getting you what you need without rushing you through your meal. The prices are reasonable, ranging from 15-25 dollars for an entree.

My only complaint about my experiences at Teatro is the noise. Teatro is a long, rectangular restaurant, with a modern feel, so everything clanks around and when crowded (which is often) the acoustics are such that all the noise is bouncing off the walls and ceiling.  It is hard to have a conversation at your table without feeling like you are yelling or straining your voice to talk.

Hope you like yelling cause this place has the absolutely worst noise level of any place in Boston.  Food, drinks, whatever - they're fine.  But when they opened up the building and found the old vaulted ceiling, they kept it.  Sound bounces off that like you wouldn't believe.  It's deafening in there sometimes.  Kinda sad.  if not for that I'd adore the joint.

Love. That's the only word I can use to describe Teatro. I often frequent this place after the movies or after work for a quick bite and have never been let down.

Simple, well done Italian style tapas which can be eaten between two people or twenty in a chic, loungey atmosphere. It's definitely nothing over the top-- but the food is creative and savory and it will not put a hole in your wallet! The service is attentive, but speedy as it tends to fill up fast in there. If you are looking to have a romantic date night, I would strongly recommend a reservation as I've seen the entire place fill up in almost ten minutes.

Some food for thought: Sicilian Style Tuna, Chicken Liver, Grilled Octopus (amazing), Seared Foie Gras and if you're in the mood for pasta -- I would recommend the Pappardelle with Veal Meatballs.

We went to Teatro before theatre last Sunday. We have been there before and don't think it has changed much.  It is still as noisy as ever and the food is uninspired. We had plenty of time and a reservation.  They constantly make you feel rushed.

We had a special Squash blossom as a first course which was greasy and the mixture of odd flavors (ricotta and honey).  Calamari was good, white bean paste boring, peppers were fine (how can you mess them up). We had a bottle of wine which they came over every two seconds to pour it for us after pouring two large glasses to begin with.  We made it very clear that we wanted to pour our own wine so that it would last through the meal. We asked that the salmon be cooked through an It came out rare.  After they cooked it longer, it was okay.  Salads were basic, the soup was tomato.  Time to stop going back to Teatro in the hopes that they will get it right.

Bottom line: For Boston, really good food. Great service.

The Boston food scene is limited to having to pay big $ for food that would be just OK in San Francisco or New York, especially when you add in lack of general atmosphere and bad service. Teatro is an exception! Since they opened, they've had a creative menu with decent portions of good food. The service has also been consistent and the decor is modern and different.  Worst part is the small bar which gets very crowded.

Like Ashley, I had preconceived notions about Teatro before going there to eat- I was skeptical of the quality for the price, given that it falls outside of the (almost always) great North End. As a result, it took years of living in Boston and many Italian meals elsewhere before I was willing to give it a shot.

Do not make the same mistake that I did.

Everything about my experience there was excellent. The service was prompt and friendly without being pushy. The atmosphere was upscale without coming off as overly snooty or trendy. And the food was fantastic. We started off with the spinach and marscapone ravioli and the mushroom arancini. The ravioli was very good; the arancini was one of the greatest things i've ever tasted. Perfect consistency, amazing flavor; I just wish that there was more of it to enjoy since we were splitting among three people.

On the recommendation of a fellow Yelper, I opted for the rigatoni bolognese, and it did not disappoint. A generous helping of pasta was cooked perfectly and came with a fantastic meaty sauce. Others in my group went with the chicken milanese and the pappardelle with marsala veal meatballs, and both were very pleased with their choices as well. Given the generous portions and exceptional quality, I found the prices to be well within reason.

I'd echo what others have said about this being a great date spot, although I would leave yourself plenty of time if you're planning on grabbing dinner before a movie next door. The service was not slow by any means, but it's not the type of meal that you would want to rush through.

Went here for a post-concert drink to avoid the T rush.  Generally enjoyed our short stay.

+ Chic, loungey decor
+ Open kitchen (a personal love of mine)
+ Sangria topped with plump raspberries and blackberries (!) - see the pic I uploaded

The only thing that was kind of weird was they locked the front door at midnight, but they didn't close 'til later.  They didn't seem to have a doorman, so that must be why.  But I saw countless people approach and rattle the door, only to leave confused as to why the bustling bar was neither accepting new customers nor shooing out the current ones.

Will have to come back and try the bolognese, as there are few things the plus-one likes more...

Okay, so I'm back on the bandwagon for this restaurant.

Went back the other night with a big group of 15 and they were soo accommodating with exceptional service.  We got a few orders of the fried calamara, pizza and antipasto.  All were tasty treats.  I had the diver scallop and the thing was HUGE, the scallop cooked just right so it wasn't dry!  I only ate half of my plate and handed it down to my human food disposal of a friend.  I did get a chance to try my steak again and it was better than I remembered.  I'll definitely will be back for my steak!

This place consistently Rocks! whenever I've been here.  Whether I'm there with just one other person on a date or 15 people to go see a show.  The food and service have always been excellent!

The first thing to remember is they know their theater crowd very well and are prepared to get you in and out if need be.  Be sure to tell your server when you first order drinks and you won't have any problems at all.  Try and get there with reasonable amount of time to spare of course.  Sitting down at 7 for an 8 o'clock show is a little unfair.

I usually start with the Classic Ceasar Salad or the Beef Carpacio depending on my mood.  Good starters and not super filling.

My next choice is do I want pasta or a meat entree'?  For pasta the Rigatoni with Bolegnese is always great.  For meat the Chicken Milanese or Grilled Sausage, Peppers, Onions and Parmesan Polenta are great choices too.

For dessert I'm usually a Tiramisu kinda guy but here, I like the Panna Cotta and Strawberries.  Yumm.

Fill that grumbling tummy and then head off to the show!  A great start to your evening for sure.

We went here for my boyfriend's birthday the other night and had a great time.  The food was outstanding: I had the spinach ravioli which looked handmade and was really delicious, he had the chicken milanese and raved about it.  The house wine was very good and reasonably priced and he (the cocktail addict) started with a mojito that was fantastic: well-made and well-balanced.

I love the ambiance here.  I've heard it was an old synagogue and it's just beautiful inside.  It doesnt look like much from the street, but it's like a different world inside.  The service was good: he didnt rush us and paced our meal well, which I always appreciate, but he could have been a tad more attentive/available.

Two small complaints: even though we went later (9:30 p.m. for dinner) and it was not crowded, we were seated at a table with couples in close proximity on either side of us.  It turned out okay, but especially since it wasnt necessary it was a little annoying.  My boyfriend also claims to have seen a mouse when I was in the ladies room before we left.  This freaked him out a little but since it's an old building I honestly think it's one of those things they dont have all that much control over.  Still, ew.

I was not impressed with Teatro.  The first obvious reason, which took a few minutes to figure out, was that there isn't a coat check (or wasn't on the Tuesday night I went).  Coats were draped everywhere, and the tables are pushed as close together as possible, leading to this chaotic, cramped vibe.  The ceiling is a beautiful cerulean blue, but the schizophrenic dance music they played bounced off of it from every angle and made a half-packed house sound (and feel) like a zoo.

The food was overpriced and too greasy.  Not very authentic on many counts.  I had the fettucelle with shrimp, and it tasted...off.  After a few bites I realized my mouth had the aftertaste of over-chlorinated water.  I think they may boil their pasta in city water, which in the area has a very strong taste.  The shrimp were of decent quality, and the cherry tomatos were good.  We had a few of the starters, gorgonzola cheese with honey, white bean puree, servicable but nothing to write home about.  My fiance ate the marscapone ravioli; they were very creamy and he seemed to enjoy them.  It also took a long time for the check to come, which was strange because at that point 3 or 4 members of the waitstaff were chatting away with each other.

In short, the food is average and the prices are what you'd expect for a restaurant right on the common.  The downfall of Teatro is their lack of space management; too many patrons, not enough noise (and clutter) control.

I definitely wrote this place off as one of those places that looks really cool but ends up only having that going for it.  I've walked by it tons of times and every time I pass, I see yuppies sipping away at the bar and the blue lit theater ceiling begging to be noticed.  A place that looks as "trendy" as this can't possibly have good food right?  Come on, we've all been lured into places that look great but suck in terms of food.  *cough* *cough* CRAFT in NYC *cough* *cough*

Man I must be a cynical old fart because this place was ridiculously good.  Apparently I said "ridiculous" in a way that actually caught my waiter off guard enough to give me a funny look.  Nevertheless I stand by my statement.

We started with the $24 anti-pesto plate.  Sure it seemed expensive for an appetizer but I was splitting it between 4 people so $6 a head for a starter is way reasonable.  It arrive and it was the size of those overstuffed sushi boats, except with Italian food.  The deli cuts were great (not naming them b/c i can't spell worth ass), the white bean paste was really nice, and eggplant lovers sang about the eggplant mush at the end of the table (i don't like eggplant).

Then came the entrees.  I got the ragu..which was really really meaty but not overpowering.  It ranked up there with the awesomeness that is Carmen's crespelle sp?.  The crespelle at Carmen's may in fact be the best Italian dish i've ever had...I used to crave it every time I was in Boston...it's like crack.  Well this ragu definitely gave the Crespelle a run for its money.

Ok back to Teatro.  So my other half decided to order the Mushroom Ravioli, and consequently loses her plate.  I can't begin to describe how tasty that dish is.  The earthiness of the mushrooms was tamed by the creamy sauce, that was accented, ok more like doused, in some sort of sweet wine reduction.  It was like I was in that Bud Light commercial where the guy full on clotheslines some girl in touch football, my lady never saw it coming.  I don't think she'll ever let me have a bite of anything she orders ever again but it was worth it.

Oh and it was really refreshing to see the head chef on the diners side of the window manning his line.  Gave the dining experience some street cred yo.

All in, great night, great food, great service, minus the small argument we nearly started with our awesome waiter...aren't humus and "pureed chickpeas" the same thing?  Whatever we can give him that win if we have to.

Teatro pulls off chic, sexy, warm and inviting all at the same time. The atmosphere is both romantic and hip, accessible and classy, while the food is just simply amazing.

With no wait at 8:30 on a Sunday, the hostess immediately sat us at a corner table, which was, in my opinion, one of the best seats in the house, as it allows you to sit close to your dining companion, and affords you extra space to relax.

Beginning with martinis (a pomegranate and a il cafe), we enjoyed the crispy calamari (a great portion size) and warmed bread. For dinner, the steak (a bit overdone, but delicious) and the scallops with bacon and risotto. AMAZING! I haven't had scallops in a long time, and this dish served to remind me just how well they can be done. Food presentation was impeccable, as was the service.

Agreed-this is a hot little date spot. Perfect for intimate conversation, not your typical fancy schmancy place, but definitely impressive in the overall experience.

I'm giving Teatro 5 stars for the rigatoni with bolognese sauce dish alone.

I probably would never would have picked this restaurant on its own merits, but I received a gift certificate. I also never would have ordered the bolognese, because, pasta with meat sauce? Yawn. But the giver of the certificate urged me to try it, and I trust her recommendations. Now you should trust mine.

Clearly I enjoy food, but I'm not the world's biggest eater - especially with a pasta dish, and especially when I'm taking my time and savoring, I have a tendency to fill up. I'm happy to take the remainder home. But there was no remainder for me at Teatro. I could not. stop. eating. the bolognese. When the pasta was gone, I sopped up the rest with bread. I'm not ashamed to admit I would have licked the plate if it were less classy of a joint.

I'm vaguely aware that there are other things on the menu, and I'm sure they're just ducky, but I only have eyes for the bolognese.

Back to what I said before about it being a place I wouldn't have picked out, it's because on the surface I took it to be pretentious and obnoxiously trendy. It's nice when I can get over my own snooty preconceived notions because really the experience couldn't have been more lovely. I was perfectly comfortable in my jeans and button-down shirt-- if you are looking for a relaxed, casual dinner, it's possible to have one at Teatro-- don't let yourself be intimidated by the decor or the very long wait. If I had, I would have missed out on one of the most amazing dishes I've had in the city.

A few tips: yes, it's a little pricey for your typical dinner-and-a-movie date, but it's worth it if you can put a little bank aside (or better, get someone else to pay). As for the wait, I was able to make a Saturday night reservation on the same afternoon, but it wasn't until 10. We went to a movie at the theater next door, and by the time we got out, it was time to eat. We received a discount by presenting our movie tickets which meant more bang for our buck, plus I was beyond famished - all the better to tuck away more of the bolognese. Double bonus!

When I enter Teatro I feel like I'm entering the bar in Gattaca where Jude Law's character enjoys a bottle of wine with Ethan Hawke's character.  The place has this serene feel to it as if it were trying to channel the feel of the gilded age but instead of ostentatious gold you have an auspicious blue light enameling the walls and ceiling.  It is a great atmosphere for a date where both people enjoy sharing a bottle of wine.

I like this place a lot.  I always walked past it but never thought much of it because I couldn't really see in side since the windows are small and few in number.  A few months ago I went inside on a date and have since returned a number of times because of the wine and the small dishes offered at the bar.

The food here is okay because the menu seems to change so sometimes you have food that is fantastic and other times the food is mediocre.  It is my opinion that they should change the place into a wine bar.  Just expand the wine offered and cater to the yuppies and foreign-yuppies who would go on dates after work.

This place is pretty good.  I went there for Valentine's day so it was packed to the limit.  We had the deviled eggs and fried zucchini for appetizer's and my they were delicious.  The fried zucchini was flavorful, hot and crispy.  It was accompanied by this great marinara sauce that was scrumptious.  For my main course I had the veal meatballs glazed with marsala.  They were so very amazing.  It was served with farfalle that was a bit too al dente and chewy for my taste.  Our dessert was incredible! The tiramisu was creamy and sweet.  It was a great Valentine's day meal.

I went to Teatro this past Saturday. It is a trendy restaurant located on Tremont Street. It has a very modern design with cool lighting. Music is always playing in the background. Sometimes you feel like you are at a night club. So, this is a restaurant has a cool vibe. And people like to be seen here. However, the food was very disappointing. Every ting started off well but it went way downhill. For apps I got Aracini. Which were awesome. I read a lot of reviews for Teatro and people were in love with the Chicken Milanese. So, I tried it. And it stunk. Nothing good about that dish. And then I got the frozen ice cream for dessert and that was horrible. I dropped a buck $120 on this place and left like I got ripped off.

If you like to get dressed up and go out for a romantic dinner or just  hang out with friends or family then I have to recomend Teatro... I've only been there twice but I will say everything I have tried there has been delizioso which means "Delicious" in Italian!  So now all I have to say is... Mangiare....which means "Eat" in Italian .. hey I should get paid to teach Italian.....lol

Through and through, a wonderful date restaurant. This place is really classy without being over the top. The high ceilings and blue-ish glow created a warm yet snazzy enviornment.

The caesar salad was really good - big, thick slices of tangy parmesan, which I loved. For dinner I got the Eggplant Francesca with Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella & Broccoli Rabe. The tomatoes were sweet, the eggplant savory, the cheese creamy. However, the rabe was bitter and just not the type of food to have a bed of on my plate. Oh well. The meal was filling and I brought half home.

Everything is a bit on the pricey side. It's kind of worth it - if you don't get a good table, waiter, or service it might not be worth it.

After the movie finished, we wanted a place for drinks and snacks. Chinatown seemed too easy. We walked by Teatro and decided to give it a try. We had drinks and some light tapas. The Sicilian tuna was nice. Though, I still think this restuarant's name should belong to Tealuxe's future competitor.
